Qin Fei was heartbroken because Xing Zhizhi wanted to break up with her. She drank heavily and kept messaging him, begging for reconciliation. She told him that she didn’t mind his illness and would stay with him, hoping that Xing Zhizhi wouldn’t break up with her. However, he didn’t respond to any of her messages. Luo Xiaoxiao and Liu Yanze, worried about her, stayed at her place to take care of her.

When Qin Fei woke up and realized what she had done, she felt embarrassed. Luo Xiaoxiao suddenly started feeling unwell and kept wanting to vomit. Qin Fei asked if she might be pregnant. Luo Xiaoxiao bought a pregnancy test and confirmed she was pregnant, but she had a role she really wanted to take, as she was scheduled to join a new project next month.

Chen Shen, her director, told her to make arrangements for the upcoming month, but Luo Xiaoxiao told him she needed some time to think about it. Liu Yanze, noticing that Luo Xiaoxiao seemed distracted, drove her to the set and then saw a receipt for the pregnancy test she had bought.

Later, that evening, Luo Xiaoxiao told Liu Yanze that she was pregnant and planned to cancel the project to stay at home and wait for the baby to be born. Liu Yanze mentioned that this was a role she had always wanted, and suggested they could find a way to balance both her career and her pregnancy. He guessed she was pregnant, so he went to a bookstore to buy many books to help her with the upcoming changes.

He also asked for time off to take care of her so she could continue working without any worries. Qin Fei returned home with her luggage, and her mother immediately started lecturing her. She asked why Xing Zhizhi didn’t come with her. Qin Fei explained that Xing Zhizhi had been busy recently. Xiao Cheng, without thinking, remarked that it looked like they had broken up.

Qin Fei’s mother assumed that she had been the one to end the relationship, and scolded her for ruining a good situation. She insisted that Qin Fei call Xing Zhizhi. When Qin Fei couldn’t take her mother’s nagging anymore, she finally admitted that it was Xing Zhizhi who had broken up with her. Hearing this, her mother became even angrier, feeling that Qin Fei, who was kind, beautiful, and independent, shouldn’t have been rejected by Xing Zhizhi.

Unable to endure any more of her mother’s criticism, Qin Fei kicked her out of the room. Qin Fei received an invitation to the centennial school anniversary of her elementary school, which she had attended with Xing Zhizhi. She decided to go. Walking around the campus, memories of her childhood with Xing Zhizhi flooded back. Without thinking, she reached out to touch a rock garden, but a security guard saw her and assumed she was up to something bad.

Hearing the guard, she quickly ran away, only to be pulled to the side. To her surprise, the person who had grabbed her was Xing Zhizhi. He took her to the storage room where they had once hidden together. Qin Fei asked how Xing Zhizhi had been doing after their breakup. He said that his heart felt empty, and he couldn’t describe how he felt.

Qin Fei asked if they could get back together, but Xing Zhizhi explained that he would soon be leaving for Su Man, as a former colleague had emailed him about the possibility that Xiao Jia wasn’t dead. He planned to go to Su Man to find Xiao Jia. Qin Fei asked if she should wait for him to return, but Xing Zhizhi told her not to wait. He hoped she would have a new life.

Qin Fei, hearing this, asked him to promise her that, as her boyfriend, he would spend one last day with her. Xing Zhizhi agreed. The security guard caught them together and scolded them for secretly dating. Afterward, they were told to leave through the back door. Qin Fei and Xing Zhizhi went for a meal and drinks. Seeing some people nearby playing rock-paper-scissors, Qin Fei asked Xing Zhizhi to join her.

He said he didn’t know how to play, which disappointed her. As she kept drinking, Xing Zhizhi urged her to go home. Qin Fei became upset, feeling he was rushing her. On the bus ride home, she observed the couples around them—young couples still in school, middle-aged couples supporting each other, and elderly couples who, though their children weren’t around, were still content to be with each other.

She said that she wanted to stay with Xing Zhizhi forever, growing old together, and that she wanted to wait for him to come back. Xing Zhizhi remained silent as he listened. When they got off the bus, Qin Fei asked what the sky in Su Man was like. Xing Zhizhi replied that it was mostly similar to here, though sometimes, when the weather was especially good, the stars were very bright.

Qin Fei said that after hearing about Su Man, she wanted to go see it too. Xing Zhizhi warned that Su Man was very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and she might not be able to adjust. Qin Fei understood what he meant and gave him a final kiss. She told him that once it was midnight, he could leave. Xing Zhizhi carried the sleeping Qin Fei back to her home.

Her mother asked if breaking up was really for Qin Fei’s good. Xing Zhizhi nodded. Qin Fei’s mother told him that Qin Fei was someone who valued her feelings deeply and, once she decided on something, nothing could change her mind. She said that what Xing Zhizhi considered to be good for Qin Fei might not be accepted by her. Xing Zhizhi then went to check on Qin Fei, who was still asleep.

He remembered how Qin Fei had said she wanted to keep the engagement ring he had once bought as a memento. He took it out, intending to place it by her bedside but then hesitated and put it away again. After saying goodbye to Qin Fei, he left.
