A Journey to Love Episode 23 Recap
> A Journey to Love Recap
Yang Ying faced everything alone and managed to emerge unscathed. Ning Yuanzhou praised her courage and strategy, and everyone's admiration and acknowledgment brought great joy to Yang Ying. Ning Yuanzhou noticed the injuries on Ruyi's hands and learned that she would visit Zhuyi Guard the next day. Concerned about Ruyi's safety, Ning Yuanzhou expressed that he wouldn't stop her from seeking revenge but hoped she would take care of herself and avoid getting hurt.
Ruyi speculated that when Li Tongguang entered the palace, he would likely inform Emperor An about the Zhuyi Guard assassination. However, there was no movement from Zhuyi Guard today. Ruyi believed that Deng Hui might not be in the capital, and thus, the Emperor did not summon him. Unaware of Deng Hui's details, Ruyi planned to strike when he was not in Zhuyi Guard's yamen. Ning Yuanzhou reminded Ruyi to contact him through the Lost Butterfly if needed, assuring her of support.
Emperor An questioned Deng Hui about the assassination attempt, but Deng Hui denied any involvement. The Emperor ordered Deng Hui to investigate the matter and forbade his private troops from acting without permission. Subsequently, the Emperor instructed Deng Hui to uncover Zhuyi Guard's collusion with Beipan.
Jialing received information about someone in Zhuyi Guard colluding with Beipan. She suspected the involvement of Chen Kui, Chen Zuo Shi's people. However, Jialing's subordinates had been sent to He County at that time. Worried that Deng Hui might discover her attempt to assassinate Ruyi, Jialing decided to leave and investigate the circumstances surrounding the Zhujin Case to avoid Deng Hui's inquiries.
Disguised as an inner servant of the Bureau of Writing Implements, Ruyi entered Zhuyi Guard's yamen. Inside, she discovered that her name had indeed been erased from the records. Emperor An ordered Han Dongming to summon Yang Ying to Yong'an Temple to meet with Emperor Wu. Privately, Yang Ying informed Ning Yuanzhou that she had never met her elder brother since childhood, fearing that a direct meeting might expose her identity. Ning Yuanzhou guessed that the Emperor's arrangement was a test of Yang Ying's true identity. He handed over Liu Daotang's old belongings, including hidden weapons, to Yang Ying, suggesting that if Emperor Wu failed to recognize her or if she made a mistake, she could use the hidden weapons to make him unconscious, then explain everything later.
Ruyi, posing as Jialing's subordinate, reported the assassination attempt to Chen Kui. Though her identity was exposed, Ruyi admitted to being Ren Xin and questioned why Chen Kui would assassinate Duke Changqing and collude with Beipan. Chen Kui admitted to aligning with the Crown Prince and choosing to obey orders to assassinate Duke Changqing. However, he did not admit to betraying the Wuguo branch.
Yang Ying met Emperor Wu alone, but Emperor An arranged two similarly dressed individuals nearby to test Yang Ying. Emperor Wu recognized the Liu Daotang's old belongings on Yang Ying's hands, directly admitting her identity. Ordering Han Dongming to leave, Emperor Wu stated that even without Liu Daotang's belongings, he could still recognize his younger sister. Yang Ying informed Emperor Wu of their planned rescue and revealed that the Empress was pregnant. Although Emperor Wu was pleased about having an heir, he knew that Dan Yang Wang did not want him to return to Wuguo.
Emperor Wu did not inquire about the Big Wu warriors who died fighting for him but worried about the security of his throne. This deeply saddened Yang Ying, who hoped Emperor Wu would issue an edict clearing the wrongful accusations against Chai Ming and others. Emperor Wu acknowledged that Ning Yuanzhou came to rescue him because of his loyalty to the Liu Daotang brothers. He promised to send the edict once Ning Yuanzhou safely escorted him back to Wuguo.
Yang Ying expressed her concern that Emperor Wu did not genuinely believe in her sincere efforts to rescue him. Knowing that Emperor Wu always regarded lives as insignificant and hadn't matured despite the bloody events at Tianmeng Pass, Yang Ying was deeply troubled. Ruyi came to pay respects to the late Empress Zhaojie, and Ning Yuanzhou specifically waited for her at the location. Both of them had their worries and walked back to Siyi Pavilion together. Although Ning Yuanzhou had long known about Emperor Wu's indifference, the sacrifice of the Liu Daotang brothers for him at Tianmeng Pass was merely a duty for Emperor Wu, leaving Ning Yuanzhou profoundly disappointed.
