Ji Tan Yin couldn't bear to see Qian Lin doing hard labor, so she brought A Xue along to buy him back. Zhi Qiu went to visit his teacher, Guan Zhi, who was studying a drawing. Zhi Qiu joined him in analyzing it to find an answer. Only after Zhi Qiu joined him did the teacher agree to eat. The teacher deeply regretted that Zhi Qiu would no longer study craftsmanship under him.

Zhi Qiu inquired about Shen Ying’s whereabouts and learned that Shen Ying hadn't visited in a long time, realizing she must be busy with something else. Ji Tan Yin took Qian Lin to the house A Xue had rented. It had many rooms, so everyone could live together. Ji Tan Yin kept Qian Lin by her side, which puzzled him.

He knew, as a War Demon, he was disliked by other clans, but Ji Tan Yin didn't care about his identity. Yuan Zhong was waiting for Ji Tan Yin with A Xiu at a restaurant. The owner assumed Yuan Zhong and Ji Tan Yin were husband and wife, envying Yuan Zhong for finding such a gentle, virtuous, and hardworking woman who could support the family.

Upon learning it was raining outside, Yuan Zhong took an umbrella and went to pick Ji Tan Yin up. Mei Shan Jun also arrived in Yandu. When he saw A Xiu was still a child, he was surprised and gave Yuan Zhong some silver. A Xiu, upon seeing the gold, immediately grabbed the coin pouch and ran off.

Yuan Zhong and Ji Tan Yin chased after her, only to find that most of the gold in the pouch had already been eaten. Yuan Zhong was eating at a street-side stall when he noticed the proprietress rushing around, overwhelmed by household chores. Her drunken husband would come home, collapse beside her, and offer no help. But Ji Tan Yin saw things differently. She believed the couple lived a happy life, full of mutual understanding and respect.

She asked the proprietress, and her answer matched Ji Tan Yin’s guess exactly. Yuan Zhong, however, didn’t share Ji Tan Yin’s cheerful perspective and didn’t like her trying to guess other people’s emotions. After returning to their room, Ji Tan Yin became lost in thought and accidentally pricked her finger. Her blood once again triggered the fish’s resurrection.

The next day, Ji Tan Yin brought a lot of food for A Xue and Qian Lin, only to find Qian Lin lying in his room all day, looking completely dispirited. Ji Tan Yin went to check on him, and as she waited, she unknowingly fell asleep from exhaustion. When Qian Lin woke and saw Ji Tan Yin there, he was happy and even took the initiative to speak to her. Seeing he was alright, Ji Tan Yin left reassured.

Yuan Zhong, Ji Tan Yin, and Mei Shan Jun had a meal together. Mei Shan Jun told them about a huge stone tower at the city gate—it was a metallurgy workshop, and the laborers weren’t humans. He also told them the southern part of the city was the liveliest. While they were eating, they suddenly heard a commotion. It turned out Mei Shan Jun had invited his friend Fu Jiuyun.

Ji Tan Yin spotted the same fish bowl capable of resurrection—it was made by Fu Jiuyun. When they met, Fu Jiuyun took quite an interest in Ji Tan Yin. They chatted about the fish bowl he made and quickly became cheerful and friendly, which made Yuan Zhong extremely jealous. Ji Tan Yin was puzzled—the goddess portrait Fu Jiuyun painted looked like her, making her suspect he had seen her before.

Fu Jiuyun said he had seen her more than once in his dreams. This enraged Yuan Zhong, who even seemed ready to fight. Seeing the situation turning tense, Fu Jiuyun quickly left. Guan Zhi was amazed by Ji Tan Yin’s craftsmanship and wanted to meet her, so he went to the place where she worked to ask about her.

Fu Jiuyun asked to meet Ji Tan Yin, but Yuan Zhong firmly refused to let her go, and Ji Tan Yin didn’t plan on going either. Meanwhile, Zhi Dai was in the courtyard watching the leaves fall from the tree, smiling with contentment. Just then, Tang Hua stepped out and saw Zhi Dai’s joyful expression toward the tree, which stirred many memories for him.
