Chen Huan'er walked with Jing Qichi through the forest for a long time. Jing Qichi had dreamed of this forest before. Again and again, he asked if they had ever seen Jing Liqiang, but no one answered him. Fortunately, the wind carried the answer. Fu Ying attended the meeting in Jing Qichi’s place, but their proposal was not approved. Jing Qichi was deeply disappointed.

Fu Ying had actually wanted to tell them earlier—the company was already well-established, and every project that was accepted was closely tied to future development. There was no way they would change course just for newcomers like them. At the very least, the company had given them a 1% chance. The reason Fu Ying was able to stay and even get promoted was because she had already received an offer from the headquarters before joining. After drying her hair, Chen Huan'er lay on Jing Qichi’s lap, softly calling his name. After being apart for so long, the lovers melted into each other’s embrace. Chen Huan'er and Jing Qichi arranged a gathering with Du Man, Song Cong, and Liao Xinyan. Liao Xinyan had passed the civil service exam and dressed like a strong, career-driven woman. Li Tian unexpectedly showed up with his fiancée. Qi Qi was there too—she already had a boyfriend. Song Cong sincerely congratulated her.

They took out a book from their old high school book-sharing project and reminisced about their high school days. There was no pain in their memories, only happiness. Was this the life they had wanted? Chen Huan'er, Jing Qichi, and Li Tian all answered with a firm "yes. "Du Man, Song Cong, and Liao Xinyan hesitated, but perhaps the present moment was always the best. Jing Qichi invited everyone over to his home in a few days.

To their surprise, he used a projector to display their old messages from years ago. When they were kids, Li Tian had dreamed of going to Cambridge. Though he never made it there, he had still fallen in love with the life he lived. Back then, Qi Qi wanted to make her mother proud. Now, she realized that wasn’t as important anymore—her life was her own to control, and she was happy with it.

Du Man was no longer lonely—she had found new friends among her old classmates. Liao Xinyan used to want to date and collect experiences with all twelve zodiac signs. Now, she had tried what she wanted to try and was ready to focus on her career. Song Cong had grown by learning to accept his own ordinariness. Chen Huan'er used to worry about not having a goal. But life had no standard answers.

At least, at this moment, she was truly happy. Perhaps some friends could only walk with us for a short while, but even that brief journey made our lives complete. Chen Huan'er fell into a deep sleep on Jing Qichi’s bed. Their mothers called them out to make dumplings. A video of Jing Qichi played on the computer.

In the video, he said, "Even if, many years from now, we’ve long forgotten this afternoon, some things will change, but some things will never change."
