During the day, Su Li called Xiao Yixiao and returned all the gifts she had received recently. Xiao Yixiao asked if she really wanted to be so heartless. Su Li smiled and said that since there was no engagement, there was no reason to continue the relationship. She also asked him not to call her when drunk in the future and suggested they better not disturb each other. Han Ting’s grandfather called, hoping to have a meal together.

Han Ting suggested inviting Ji Xing to the family dinner, and his grandfather did not object. In the afternoon, Han Ting went to pick Ji Xing up from work and noticed she wasn't in high spirits. He asked and found out it was due to the competition with Hanhai. Xingchen Company had been busy for a long time and finally submitted their graduation project.

The judges were very satisfied with their work, but for some reason, the award was given to Hanhai in the end. Han Ting knew about this in advance. The judges had privately asked Han Ting, and he agreed because both Hanhai and Xingchen were subsidiaries of Dongyang Group. Ji Xing was unaware of this. Hanhai had been in the medical equipment industry longer and had a better reputation and prestige.

When the judges asked for Han Ting’s opinion, he agreed with them. Han Ting took Ji Xing to meet his grandfather. When they got out of the car, he mentioned it, and Ji Xing, unprepared, only wore a pair of earrings that Han Ting had recently given her. Han Yuan was still at home and didn't like Ji Xing, who was youthful and vibrant.

Han Yuan had always felt superior and thought Ji Xing’s family was not a good match for theirs. Fortunately, Lu Linjia's mother was there, a lovely lady who protected Ji Xing and didn’t give Han Yuan a chance to bully Han Ting. During the meal, Han Ting’s grandfather specifically asked Ji Xing about her views on Hanhai and whether she had the confidence to surpass Hanhai or how long it would take to do so.

This sharp question made Ji Xing think quickly. She remembered Han Ting had told her not to worry about Hanhai and not to rush for quick success. Instead, they should take root firmly to create their own space. With this hint, Ji Xing felt more at ease. She calmly replied that Xingchen currently had no way to surpass Hanhai and did not have that intention at the moment. They were focusing on their own development, specifically in bone research.

Ji Xing’s answer satisfied Han Ting, and his grandfather didn’t say more. After the meal, Han Ting’s grandfather invited Ji Xing to appreciate some calligraphy. He intentionally mentioned that he had named Han Ting and explained the deep meaning behind it. He also asked Ji Xing what her parents intended when they named her. Ji Xing smiled simply and said her name was because her parents thought her eyes were big like stars when she was born.

Han Ting’s grandfather then reminded her of the significant difference between their family backgrounds, which wasn’t something that could be reconciled overnight. Ji Xing understood but remained composed. She wasn’t clinging to Han Ting; in fact, it was Han Ting who pursued her. Han Yuan first discovered Han Ting’s early investment in Hanhai and found out that Hanhai was a company invested by Han Ting. She shared this with Chang He and Ceng Di.

Each had their own motives, but they chose to cooperate tacitly, deciding to start from within Han Ting's organization. Ceng Di deliberately told Ji Xing about Han Ting’s investment in Hanhai and claimed that Han Ting liked Ji Xing because she was naïve and easy to deceive. Ji Xing was caught off guard and felt that Han Ting had deceived her.

That evening, Ji Xing cautiously asked Han Ting what he would do if one day Hanhai developed rapidly and wanted to merge with Xingchen. Han Ting noticed something was off with her and immediately explained that Hanhai and Xingchen each had their strengths. If they ever needed to merge, it would be due to market demands. When Ji Xing asked Han Ting about his understanding of love, Han Ting first mentioned "compatibility." He believed compatibility was more important than love because aligned values made life and work mutually beneficial, grounding love in reality. Ji Xing couldn’t agree with this answer; she felt Han Ting was too pragmatic, almost frighteningly so.
