Back for You Episode 1 Recap
> Back for You Recap
In the year of Bingyin, in mid-autumn, under the stars and moon, a series of strange and extraordinary stories began. A Lai was mistakenly believed by the gang to have killed Jin Si. Everyone was searching for him, and he was constantly trying to evade the pursuit. While on the street, he risked himself to save a child, which exposed him to his pursuers. He fled, but they outnumbered him, and eventually, he was captured.
Just as his captors were about to shoot him to avenge Jin Si, Lu Na suddenly appeared from another time and space. She ran toward A Lai and took a bullet for him. The police arrived in time, forcing their attackers to flee in panic. A Lai quickly took Lu Na to the hospital. However, he had never seen her before and had no idea where she came from or why she risked her life to save him.
Lu Na was rescued but remained unconscious. Anxious to learn her identity, A Lai searched her bag and found a notebook. Only then did he learn her name and that she was a comic artist. Her current work was titled "Street Corner Stories". A Lai noticed something strange—her artwork depicted characters that looked exactly like him and Jin Si, and the events in the comic were the same as what had recently happened in real life.
A Lai worked for Jin Xin Company, which was owned by Jin Si. However, Jin Si had a conflict with Long Qi from the Long Hu Hall over business matters. Jin Si ordered his newly recruited subordinates to draw lots, with the one drawing the highest number assigned to assassinate Long Qi. Unluckily, A Lai drew fifty-nine. Not wanting to walk into certain death, he broke the lot, removing the number 5 in an attempt to deceive others.
However, another person ended up with the same number, and his trick was exposed. If he refused to carry out the task, Jin Si would have him killed instead—leaving him no choice but to go. While on the street, A Lai ran into his former police academy classmate, A Jia. In the past, A Lai had often bullied A Jia, but now the tables had turned. A Jia seized the opportunity for revenge, publicly humiliating A Lai.
He forced him to remove his jacket to check for contraband and even made him shine his shoes. A Lai deliberately provoked A Jia, hoping to be arrested and taken away. However, the lot he had drawn fell out, and A Jia overheard Jin Si’s plan to have his men assassinate Long Qi. Realizing A Lai was the unlucky assassin, A Jia refused to take him in—he wanted to see how A Lai would die at Long Qi’s hands.
After A Jia left, A Lai encountered his non-biological younger sister, Pei Yun. Unfortunately, Pei Yun was taken away by Jin Si. A Lai knew Jin Si was using her to control him, and panic set in. He called Officer Huang, the only person who knew his true identity—A Lai was actually an undercover agent placed by Officer Huang. But to his shock, he learned that Officer Huang had been in a car accident.
Now, there was no one left who could vouch for his identity. In Lu Na’s comic, A Lai later heroically stormed Long Hu Hall and killed Long Qi. But reality was different. When A Lai broke into Long Hu Hall, another group had also come to eliminate Long Qi. Forced to flee together, A Lai and Long Qi engaged in a fierce battle. During the fight, A Lai recognized Long Qi’s combat techniques—they were from the police academy.
This meant Long Qi was also an undercover agent planted by Officer Huang. Realizing this, A Lai convinced Long Qi to help him rescue Pei Yun, and the two of them staged a scene together. A Lai dragged Long Qi’s "corpse" to Jin Si. However, Jin Si was attempting to assault Pei Yun. A Lai arrived just in time, pointing a gun at Jin Si. Unexpectedly, Pei Yun protected Jin Si, telling A Lai to stop interfering in her life.
At that moment, Long Qi, hidden in a sack, suddenly fired a shot and killed Jin Si. Knowing that Jin Si’s men outside had likely heard the gunshot and would rush in, A Lai and Long Qi quickly jumped out of the window and escaped. They fled to a narrow alley, where A Lai and Long Qi had a conversation. A Lai learned that Officer Huang’s death was connected to Long Qi.
Long Qi no longer wanted to return to being a normal person—he enjoyed the power of being a gang leader. Now that Jin Si was dead, Long Qi could take over his territory. He offered A Lai a share if he joined him, but A Lai refused. "If we’re not friends, then we’re enemies. "Long Qi fired at A Lai, but A Lai had been wearing a bulletproof vest and was unharmed.
However, fate took a cruel turn—just then, a shop sign fell from a building above and crushed Long Qi. The workers who had been installing the sign were startled by the gunshot and accidentally dropped it. Seeing that they had killed someone, they panicked and ran away.
