Back for You Episode 12 (Ending) Recap
> Back for You Recap
Lu Na and A Lai saw the news in the newspaper and realized that events had already deviated from the storyline in the manga. They quickly returned home to figure out a plan. It turned out that A Jia had accepted money from Jiang Yuan’s older brother, Da Fei, to help cover up Jiang Yuan’s crimes. To ensure Jiang Yuan faced justice, A Lai and Lu Na tracked his movements.
Jiang Yuan frequently had his friends find attractive girls for him, then lured them to St. Mary’s Hospital to assault them. This time, they had set their sights on a new victim. Just as they were about to take advantage of her, reporters arrived and captured evidence of Jiang Yuan’s crime on camera. At that moment, A Jia, who had received an anonymous tip, arrived with the police.
With reporters present, A Jia had no way to cover for Jiang Yuan and was forced to arrest him. As a result, Jiang Yuan was sent to prison. A Lai and Lu Na decided to start investigating from Liu Meng’s case, as that was the point when everything had begun to change. A Lai recalled receiving a few photographs of water birds from someone named Yang Bo. He then asked an old colleague to help him find Yang Bo’s address.
When A Lai met Yang Bo, he learned that the water bird photos contained evidence of Xiao Rou murdering Liu Meng. Yang Bo only noticed something suspicious after developing the photos, which was why he had mailed them to A Lai. Unfortunately, Xiao Zhao had taken the photos. A Lai and Lu Na went to the location shown in the pictures. It was clear that someone had already searched the area, but they managed to find an earring.
If they could prove that the earring belonged to Lu Na, it would confirm that she was already dead, which would expose Xiao Rou for impersonating her. A Lai and Lu Na then split up to investigate. Lu Na found a picture of Liu Meng wearing the earrings at her home. They reunited at the house entrance, but when they returned inside, they discovered the door was unlocked.
A Lai assumed Lu Na had forgotten to lock it, but Lu Na was certain she had secured the door before leaving. Upon checking inside, they found that the manga was missing. Xiao Zhao had secretly taken it and given it to A Jia. After reading the manga and comparing it to a newspaper from 20 years in the future, A Jia realized that A Lai had been solving cases based on the manga.
He also discovered Da Bing’s dissociative identity disorder. Only police personnel knew A Lai’s residence, so he sensed something was wrong. He immediately went to Chief Inspector Zhang and handed over the evidence related to Liu Meng’s case. Meanwhile, Xiao Zhao overheard this and quickly informed A Jia. Realizing that his downfall was imminent, A Jia contacted a warden he was close with, ordering him to have Wei Lun eliminated in prison.
By the time A Lai and Lu Na arrived at the prison, they received news that Wei Lun had committed suicide. To protect himself, A Jia framed Xiao Zhao as the scapegoat. Eventually, the Liu Meng case was resolved, and Xiao Rou was set to be arrested once she regained consciousness. Seizing the opportunity, A Jia arranged for Da Bing to be released from prison. At this point, Da Bing had shifted into his fatherly persona.
He rushed into the streets, spotted A Lai and Lu Na, and, driven by vengeance for his son, attempted to kill them. Lu Na, seeing Da Bing charging at them, recalled A Lai’s case file and realized that Da Bing was the one who had assassinated A Lai. Fortunately, this time, A Lai was quick on his feet, and with Lu Na’s help, they managed to hold him off.
The police arrived in time and shot Da Bing before arresting him. Worried that A Lai might still be in danger, Lu Na went to the restaurant where her younger self was and tried to retrieve the lighter. There, she encountered her father. After explaining her reason for coming, her father handed over the lighter. He had just taken it from his daughter, fearing it was unsafe for her to keep.
Now that Lu Na had come to claim it, he returned it to her. Later, Lu Na and A Lai celebrated the successful resolution of the case at the restaurant. They were both safe, and A Lai knew that from that night until the next day, the golden moon alignment would occur. He hoped that Lu Na would return to her own timeline. Lu Na, unwilling to leave, drank heavily. That night, A Lai carried her home.
In a moment of deep emotion, Lu Na confessed her feelings and kissed A Lai. They spent a romantic night together. The next morning, A Lai went out to buy breakfast, but while he was gone, A Jia arrived at the house and knocked Lu Na unconscious, taking her away. He left a note for A Lai, instructing him to meet at a warehouse. A Jia used Lu Na as leverage, demanding that A Lai hand over the lighter.
A fierce battle ensued between them. A Jia shot A Lai, and amid their struggle, a fuel barrel was hit, igniting a fire. Just as A Lai was about to be subdued, Lu Na risked everything. She burned through the ropes binding her and rushed to save him. She ambushed A Jia from behind, causing him to stumble. A falling crate from above crushed him to death. A Lai was gravely wounded.
Lu Na found the lighter and attempted to take him with her, but no matter how many times she tried, it wouldn’t ignite. Seeing that the wooden beams above were about to collapse, A Lai used his body to shield Lu Na. Lu Na woke up in her own timeline, lying on a hospital bed. She had been injured by a falling chandelier during an earthquake. After recovering, she completed and successfully published her manga. At a book signing event, she reunited with A Lai once again.
