A Lai's undercover mission had come to an end. Chief Inspector Zhang fulfilled Officer Huang’s promise and reinstated A Lai as a police officer. However, he was assigned to work in the archives. Though he disliked desk work, he had no choice but to obey orders. Lu Na remained in a coma. The doctor informed A Lai that talking to her about past events could help awaken her.
Since he knew nothing about her, he decided to read from the books she had brought with her. Randomly picking one up, he saw the title "Lu Na’s Biography". A Lai wasn’t sure if it was actually her story, but his curiosity drove him to keep reading. In this story, Lu Na was a character in Zi Dan’s novel. She appeared before Zi Dan because she was unhappy with how he had portrayed her.
Lu Na was getting married in a church, but gang members disrupted the ceremony. She and her groom eliminated them inside the church. However, just as the groom placed the wedding ring on Lu Na’s finger at the church entrance, he suddenly pointed a gun at her. Enraged, Lu Na tore up Zi Dan’s manuscript and demanded that he rewrite the story, insisting on a happy wedding instead.
Lu Na continued to stay by Zi Dan’s side as he wrote, and eventually, he produced a great novel. In this story, Lu Na was depicted as a tragic character—an orphan adopted at the age of seven. However, her adoptive parents only took her in to receive government subsidies and treated her poorly. When she grew older, they sent her to an institution.
Later, she killed a client, attracting the attention of an assassin organization, and eventually became a killer herself. Despite everything, she longed for a happy life. Under Lu Na’s influence, Zi Dan wrote a series of brilliant stories and became a bestselling author. Lu Na stayed by his side, finally living the happy life she had dreamed of. She wished for things to remain that way forever.
However, Zi Dan was not content—there were now many other bestselling authors, and he wanted to keep creating. But he could no longer write anything as good as before. Desperate, he begged Lu Na for help. However, Lu Na realized that he was only using her and never truly loved her, so she disappeared. Without Lu Na, Zi Dan fell into despair. In an attempt to regain his creativity, he turned to opium, but it only made things worse.
He failed to produce any good work, and soon, people began to doubt whether "Lu Na’s Biography" was really his creation. One day, Lu Na returned to Zi Dan’s life. She loved him and couldn’t bear to see him ruin himself. This time, in a church, Zi Dan formally proposed to her. Believing that he truly loved her, Lu Na was moved. She told Zi Dan that she wanted to be called by her real name—Zhang Baobao.
Zi Dan complied, calling her by that name. However, after he placed the wedding ring on her finger, his expression changed. Now that they were "family," he expected her to help him continue writing. It was then that Lu Na realized he was still trying to use her. She refused. Enraged, Zi Dan shot and killed her. At this point in the story, A Lai recalled an old missing person case.
The missing woman’s name was Zhang Baobao, and the person who reported her disappearance was a writer named Mu Xuefeng. The similarities between the real case and Lu Na’s story were striking. A Lai began to think—if Zhang Baobao was already dead, where could her body be? He remembered that the church had been mentioned repeatedly in the story. Acting on his hunch, he reported his findings.
Sure enough, A Jia led a team to search the church and discovered Zhang Baobao’s corpse. They brought Mu Xuefeng in for questioning. Mu Xuefeng’s story was identical to what Lu Na had written. Zhang Baobao had helped him create his works, but he only used her and never acknowledged their relationship publicly. When Zhang Baobao realized this, she confronted him, and during their argument, she accidentally fell down the stairs.
Instead of saving her, Mu Xuefeng hid her body in the church. With the case solved, Chief Inspector Zhang was pleased. A Jia and A Lai had worked well together this time. Later, A Lai returned to the hospital. When he picked up the notebooks to read them again, he was shocked to find that all the pages were blank.
