The police department was investigating the case of the popular actress Liu Meng’s murder. Her driver, Wei Lun, claimed responsibility for killing Liu Meng. However, based on the crime scene and the forensic conclusions, A Jia believed that Wei Lun was not the real culprit, leading the investigation into a deadlock. A Lai went to the hospital, opened his notebook, and a comic story related to Liu Meng appeared.

In the comic, Liu Meng was a famous actress at the peak of her career. However, she had found a body double for herself named Xiao Rou. The two looked very similar, but Xiao Rou was a much better actress than Liu Meng. Liu Meng had never liked her and would never allow her to surpass her. So, Liu Meng deliberately took Xiao Rou to a business gathering, got her drunk, and then sent her to Boss Luo.

Xiao Rou cried for help. At that time, Liu Meng was in the next room but had no intention of saving her. Xiao Rou was assaulted by Boss Luo. Afterward, she was devastated and asked Liu Meng why she hadn’t saved her. Liu Meng claimed that she had fallen asleep and didn’t hear anything. She then told Xiao Rou that what was done was done, and she should think about how to move forward.

That day, Wei Lun had sensed that something was off. He stayed near Liu Meng’s home and knocked on the door to check on her. However, he heard the sounds of Xiao Rou being abused. Liu Meng drove Wei Lun away. Wei Lun waited downstairs for Xiao Rou to come out and took her home. He wanted to persuade her to report the incident to the police, but Xiao Rou didn’t dare to.

She needed the job because her father was deep in debt and constantly harassed her for money. To survive, she had to endure many things. Liu Meng often brought Xiao Rou along when she went out for work. She would have Xiao Rou wear the same clothes as her, so that whenever she didn’t feel like working, she could have Xiao Rou step in for her. On the road one day, Liu Meng deliberately provoked Xiao Rou.

Wei Lun, trying to defend Xiao Rou, was distracted and didn’t notice the road ahead. This resulted in a car accident. The vehicle crashed. Xiao Rou pulled Wei Lun out of the car, then turned to check on Liu Meng. A piece of shattered glass had pierced Liu Meng’s neck. Xiao Rou wanted to check on Wei Lun’s condition, but Liu Meng dismissed it, saying his life was worthless.

She ordered Xiao Rou to stay with her and take her away quickly. Xiao Rou was deeply shaken. She felt that Liu Meng had no respect for others and realized she had endured enough. She couldn’t take it anymore. In a fit of rage, she killed Liu Meng and dumped her body into the river. When Xiao Rou woke up, she found herself in a hospital. The assistant thought she was Liu Meng and took care of her.

Her injuries weren’t severe. At first, she wanted to explain that she wasn’t Liu Meng. However, remembering that she had killed Liu Meng and thinking about her father, who constantly demanded money, she decided to go along with it and continue being Liu Meng. Xiao Rou had the assistant take her home. Without suspicion, she moved into Liu Meng’s house. She forged Liu Meng’s signature and worked hard to become Liu Meng.

The only flaw that could expose the switch between Xiao Rou and Liu Meng was a red birthmark on Xiao Rou’s neck. At first, she tried to cover it, but as time passed, she stopped caring. One day, on set, a stranger greeted her. She didn’t recognize him or know his relationship with Liu Meng, so she just smiled politely. Later, the man entered her dressing room and threatened her with something inside an envelope.

He told her that if she wanted to know the secret, she should meet him at a designated location. Xiao Rou was frightened. She didn’t know what the man had, so she followed his instructions. In the end, she was assaulted by him. Later, she discovered that the man had only taken photos of Liu Meng with some powerful figures, and they were only back-view shots, making them unimportant. However, the man had also discovered another secret—her birthmark.

He knew she was actually Xiao Rou. This time, Xiao Rou was truly afraid. She tried to please the man and, to keep him quiet, gave him money as he demanded. At first, the amount was bearable. But as time passed, the man became more and more demanding, treating her like his personal ATM. This time, Xiao Rou decided to get rid of him. She went to his home and drugged his drink.

However, he was prepared, and Xiao Rou was no match for him. Luckily, Wei Lun arrived just in time and saved her. Wei Lun had witnessed Xiao Rou killing Liu Meng, but he never said a word, nor would he in the future. He only wished to stay by Xiao Rou’s side. To prove his loyalty, he killed the man who had been blackmailing Xiao Rou.

Xiao Rou was filming a scene, and the plot was eerily similar to her own experience—a body double killing the real star. After the shoot, she was triggered. When she returned home, she began hallucinating, seeing Liu Meng. Liu Meng taunted her with cruel words. Xiao Rou grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed at Liu Meng, only to realize she was looking at her own reflection in the mirror.

Staring at the face identical to Liu Meng’s, she stabbed herself instead. At that moment, Wei Lun arrived. A Lai understood now—Wei Lun was an accomplice. Now, all that remained was to find the evidence.
