Back From the Brink Episode 14 Recap
> Back From the Brink Recap
Senior Brother learned that Yan Hui has eliminated the black aura in the Sea of Consciousness, so he finally relaxed. Speaking of the day when he was captured by a monster and taken into the Misty Forest, he realized that it was a case of mistaken identity. The person was actually looking for someone with a black aura, but after being repelled by Senior Brother's mysterious sect jade pendant, the person immediately left. Yan Hui couldn't help but speculate that the person was actually looking for Bai Xiaosheng.
Senior Brother knew that this black aura could cause people to lose control and become possessed. He suspected that someone had deliberately designed it to manipulate the members of the mysterious sect. His concern grew, so he bid farewell to Yan Hui and returned to the Chenxing Mountain to report to Ling Xiao. As Yan Hui raised her hand to say goodbye to Senior Brother, he turned back cautiously, still wary of the ambush she had launched on him last time. Yan Hui felt a bit awkward as she waved her hand, considering it as a farewell gesture. Senior Brother hurried back to Chenxing Mountain, anxiously seeking information from his junior sister about Ling Xiao's whereabouts. His heart grew even heavier upon hearing that Ling Xiao had not returned yet.
Yan Hui cooked porridge, brewed medicine, and waited for Tian Yao to wake up. After going through this incident, it was their first time meeting each other with clear consciousness, and they both cared deeply about each other's well-being. Tian Yao learned that Bai Xiaosheng had disappeared, Senior Brother had returned to Chenxing Mountain, and his Chi Yan Long Ya had flown away. He decided to take Yan Hui to the Dragon Valley, intending to find a way to tame the Chi Yan Long Ya and strengthen his power. Yan Hui couldn't understand why Tian Yao's dragon tooth wouldn't obey his command and couldn't help but curiously observe if Tian Yao's dragon tooth had grown. This amused Tian Yao greatly. Soon, Tian Yao led Yan Hui to the vicinity of the Dragon Valley, where the spiritual energy was abundant. Yan Hui was amazed by it, while Tian Yao was already accustomed to it and reminisced about the time when spiritual energy could condense into spirits.
In the Dragon Valley, Yan Hui recognized an old tree stump at the valley entrance, marked with scorching burns. It was the result of her actions when she was chased by monsters in her childhood. Unexpectedly, Tian Yao's dragon soul was trapped within this soul-binding wood. It was because of that fire that Tian Yao was able to escape his spirit. Yan Hui carefully recalled and realized that since their time at Chenxing Mountain, many things had faded from her memory. Seeing the familiar scorch marks, she remembered that she possessed the ability to absorb demonic energy since she was young. It was likely related to the Heart-Protecting Scale. It was because of this scale that she, someone with a defective heart, was able to survive until now. It showed how deep her connection with Tian Yao was. Tian Yao owed his current state to the fire set by Yan Hui and her subsequent assistance in retrieving the dragon bones and dragon horns. Touched by her kindness, Tian Yao made a promise that all his belongings would belong to Yan Hui. Yan Hui quickly responded, saying that Tian Yao's belongings could only belong to his wife. After saying this, she realized how ambiguous her words sounded and hurriedly walked away. Tian Yao seemed intrigued by her statement.
The Dragon Valley is now occupied by a group of children who blocked Yan Hui and Tian Yao from entering. They explained that their parents had instructed them to guard the Dragon Valley and wait for the return of the Dragon Master. Tian Yao was surprised to learn that there were still people who remembered him even to this day, and he couldn't help but feel deeply moved. He regretted that because of Su Ying, the lives of many spirits in the Dragon Valley were lost. Tian Yao showed his dragon horn as proof of his identity, but the little spirits didn't believe him. However, they couldn't defeat Yan Hui, and after accepting the Misty Forest Ring she offered, they reluctantly allowed them to enter. In their eyes, only Tian Yao could remove the Chi Yan Dragon Tooth, so there was no need to worry.
Tonight is the night of the full moon. Yan Hui knew that Tian Yao would be feeling uncomfortable, so she voluntarily suggested that Tian Yao sleep on the bed while she stayed by his side. However, Tian Yao had something important to do, so Yan Hui accompanied him. In the valley, they encountered the little spirits who were paying respects to their ancestors. Tian Yao couldn't bear the pain in his heart and recalled the day when he fought with Su Ying. The spirits fearlessly risked their lives to return the dragon scales to him. He felt even more guilty. That night, despite the physical pain, he endured it, believing it was the punishment he deserved. Eventually, he fainted from the pain, and Yan Hui looked at him with deep concern.
On the second day, Tian Yao woke up to find himself resting his head on Yan Hui's leg. Yan Hui had been comforting him all along, and the hand placed on his heart reminded Tian Yao of Su Ying's sword strike. His emotions became unsettled, and he left in a panic. Yan Hui noticed something was wrong with Tian Yao and secretly followed him. When she saw him being injured and in pain from the Chi Yan Long Ya, she discreetly inquired about healing herbs from the little spirits blocking their path and went through the trouble to make them for Tian Yao. Tian Yao noticed the leaves on Yan Hui's head and removed them for her. Seeing Yan Hui combing her hair, he took the comb and started to comb it for her. However, upon realizing that it was something a husband would do for his wife, he quickly left.
Yan Hui was certain that she had fallen in love with Tian Yao. Remembering the last time when she was affected by the fox's charm and rejected by Tian Yao, she decided to plan carefully before confessing her feelings. She then asked Tian Yao about his preferences. The little spirits noticed that Tian Yao and Yan Hui were in love and forcefully sent Yan Hui downstairs to sleep. It was because of the Dragon Lord's emotional involvement that the valley had experienced a calamity, so it had now been renamed as the Heartless Valley.
