Yan Hui suddenly turned cold and stared fiercely at Tian Yao. This unusual behavior made both Tian Yao and Bai Xiaosheng realize that something was wrong with Yan Hui. Especially when Yan Hui mentioned that she had been wearing a black flower on her head and experiencing frequent mental confusion, Bai Xiaosheng immediately realized that there was a problem in Yan Hui's sea of consciousness. He immediately entered Yan Hui's sea of consciousness and was shocked to discover that the Higan flower had spread uncontrollably within it.

Bai Xiaosheng saw that Yan Hui couldn't make up her mind even after falling asleep, so he decided to infiltrate her sea of consciousness with black energy. This triggered Yan Hui's intense desire to kill, but unexpectedly, Bai Xiaosheng was captured by the Snow Cold artifact found by Zhu Li. Tian Yao tried to hold onto Yan Hui but was taken away by the artifact as well.

Inside the artifact, it was pitch black, with only a halo of light appearing where there were people. Yan Hui was extremely nervous, as if she could hear the conversation between Huan Xiaoyan and Zhu Li. Since Zhu Li didn't know how to use the compass, he turned it randomly. Yan Hui saw Snow Cold attacking someone with a sense of sadness and realized that Snow Cold was from the Xuanmen sect but didn't know whom she had sealed. Zhu Li continued to manipulate the artifact, and Tian Yao encountered Yan Hui. Tian Yao knew that Yan Hui wanted the Heart-Protecting Scale and promised to give it to her. However, Yan Hui resisted strongly and warned Tian Yao to stay away from her, as her murderous intent was strong now.

The artifact rotated once again, and this time Bai Xiaosheng met Tian Yao. Bai Xiaosheng mentioned that the mastermind behind the black energy wanted Yan Hui to retrieve the Heart-Protecting Scale within three months. Tian Yao reminded Bai Xiaosheng that he had made a deal with the mastermind to save Yan Hui, but it was merely a temporary solution. If Yan Hui really obtained the Heart-Protecting Scale, the mastermind would likely not spare her life. Bai Xiaosheng's plan was like seeking a temporary benefit at the risk of great danger. Therefore, Tian Yao advised Bai Xiaosheng to carefully consider his decision and suggested that they work together to help Yan Hui remove the black energy and then insert the Heart-Protecting Scale. Only then would Yan Hui truly be free.

Inside the compass, Yan Hui and Tian Yao met again, while Zhu Li and Huan Xiaoyan, who had been fiddling with the compass to no avail, finally stopped. Tian Yao took this opportunity to have a conversation with Yan Hui. Yan Hui repeatedly expressed that she truly didn't want the Heart-Protecting Scale. Seeing Yan Hui resisting him, Tian Yao felt deeply troubled. He promised to help Yan Hui obtain the Yin-Yang Bestowal and cure the black energy. He vowed that from then on, they would never meet in the rivers and lakes, nor encounter each other in the underworld. Yan Hui was very satisfied with Tian Yao's understanding. After receiving the written agreement, she discussed with Tian Yao about their plan to leave. Both of them corresponded the characters on the dial they had in their hands and deduced the pattern. Together, they went to find Bai Xiaosheng. Just as the three of them met, they emerged from the compass.

Yan Hui learned that Xue Lin was Zhu Li's mother. Combining what she had heard and seen inside the compass, she believed that the Master of Black Energy was acquainted with Xue Lin. This statement made Zhu Li speculate that it was due to the black energy that Yan Hui and Bai Xiaosheng were sucked into the compass earlier. Bai Xiaosheng found Tian Yao annoying. As soon as Zhu Li and Huan Xiaoyan left, he spoke up to drive Tian Yao away. Tian Yao didn't say anything and turned to leave. Bai Xiaosheng was puzzled by Tian Yao's unexpected cooperation. When he learned that Tian Yao had already left a written pledge, he couldn't help but praise Yan Hui for handling the matter well. Ling Fei of the Guang Han Men gathered the various sects of the Xuanmen and declared that Tian Yao had gone to Qingqiu. If Qingqiu didn't hand over Tian Yao, they would lead the people of Xuanmen to cross the Black River and break through Qingqiu. She believed that Qingqiu had broken their promise first. She had never expected that Su Ying killing Yun Xi would lead to Zhu Li's involvement. Other sects also attributed the disappearance of their members to Qingqiu, indicating the signs of a major battle between the Xuan and Yao realms.

The Grand Lord of Qingqiu closed the door for cultivation, and the current affairs were handled by Chang Lan. He was devoted to the country but suffered from an eye ailment. Zhao Gong was responsible for defense and had always been dissatisfied with Chang Lan's mild approach.
