Yan Hui possesses the Heart-Protecting Scale, so she practices the Dragon's cultivation technique, which makes her feel at ease and not tired during cultivation. Tian Yao implanted the life-changing curse in Yan Hui's sea of consciousness, putting great pressure on her. Although she cherishes her life, she is unwilling to exchange it for Tian Yao's life. She tries to break the curse but finds it impossible. Yan Hui knows that she carries the lives of two people and cannot afford to be lazy. She decides to cultivate diligently to repay Tian Yao's efforts.

Realizing that she has practiced the Dragon's cultivation technique, Yan Hui considers herself Tian Yao's successor. She tries to use the Chi Yan Dragon Fang and is delighted to find that she can wield it. Tian Yao wants to give her the Dragon Fang, but Yan Hui refuses. She explains that she can use random stones and branches as weapons, which displeases the Dragon Fang, causing it to break free from her hand. Yan Hui is aware of the vast difference between her mortal status and Tian Yao's status as a thousand-year-old spiritual dragon, which worries her. Tian Yao tells her that his inner core has merged with the Heart-Protecting Scale, and Yan Hui's progress in cultivation has been remarkable. To reassure her, Tian Yao takes Yan Hui into his sea of consciousness. Yan Hui is amazed and puzzled by the vastness of her own sea of consciousness, as it had been sealed before by Ling Xiao to protect the Heart-Protecting Scale from prying eyes. Yan Hui recalls Ling Xiao's expulsion of her from the mountain and believes that he had his reasons. Worried about his well-being since they haven't heard from him for a long time, she asks Xian Ge to use her flowers to investigate. However, Feng Qianshuo has not been in contact with Xian Ge for a while, and they suspect that Chang Lan has discovered him and returned to Qing Qiu.

Chang Lan is prepared, sitting in the Qing Qiu palace with a team of black-clad guards protecting him. Except for Zhu Li and Huan Xiaoyan, everyone in Qing Qiu has fallen under his illusion. Ying Huo attempts to clear Yan Hui and Tian Yao's names, but those affected by the illusion cannot hear his words because Chang Lan has placed a silencing spell on Ying Huo. Ying Huo deeply regrets falling for Chang Lan's trick before and misunderstanding Yan Hui and Tian Yao. Just then, Chen Yi, Yan Hui, and Tian Yao return. Ying Huo suspects that Chen Yi is Chang Lan, but fortunately, Huan Xiaoyan had left an enchantment mark on Yan Hui's hand, confirming their identities and avoiding further misunderstandings. Chang Lan disperses the purple smoke over Qing Qiu with his own power, causing those affected by the illusion to wake up and question their previous actions. Sensing Chen Yi's presence, Chang Lan uses his magic to engage in a battle with Chen Yi's pure aura while attempting to attack Chen Yi's true body. However, Chen Yi is protected by Ying Huo and Zhu Li, and Chang Lan fails to succeed.

Tian Yao enters the Qing Qiu palace, heading directly for Chang Lan, and his guards engage in a battle with Chang Lan's protectors. They are quickly defeated, and Tian Yao approaches Chang Lan while Chen Yi and Yan Hui hold him back. In that moment, Tian Yao transforms into Yan Hui's appearance, allowing the real Tian Yao to capture Chang Lan while Huan Xiaoyan uses her ring to reclaim the power Chang Lan had stolen from her clan. Finally, Chang Lan is defeated and collapses on the throne.

It turns out that Yan Hui was aware of Chang Lan's preparations. She used her ability to wield the Chi Yan Dragon Fang to her advantage and combined it with Huan Xiaoyan's illusions. With Tian Yao assuming Yan Hui's appearance without a sound, he approached Chang Lan, and with Huan Xiaoyan's ring as support, everything fell into place, leading to Chang Lan's defeat.

Chang Lan is imprisoned once again, and every inch of this cell is measured by his hand. To him, this is a prison. Initially, Chang Lan had no grudge against Qing Qiu and believed that with Tian Yao's power, a fair world could be created. However, Tian Yao's compassion and attachments caused Dragon Valley to fall into trouble, making Chang Lan realize that only the strong can make others submit and truly achieve fairness. So, he collaborated with Fu Yin, exterminated the Illusion Clan, and cultivated the illusion technique. Chang Lan knew that Chen Yi couldn't provide a safe haven for him and didn't want to be trapped in this palace, barely hanging on. He chose to vanish into the world between heaven and earth.

Bai Xiaosheng found the entrance to the Illusion Forest and severed the path, cutting off the source of the dark aura. For Fu Yin, this was undoubtedly bad news. Just as Bai Xiaosheng was about to return to find Yan Hui, a mass of dark aura floated out from the sealed path, capturing Bai Xiaosheng and taking him into the cave. This left Bai Xiaosheng astonished.
