Moonlight Mystique Recap
Episode 1 Recap
Sixty thousand years ago, the Hidden Lord brought calamity to the world, causing the fall of the Divine Race. The Night Race’s Moon Goddess passed away, and her divine artifact, the Desireless Stone, was damaged. It remained hidden in the Lanling Sect, and no one has dared to open it to this day. For nearly a hundred years, the Immortal and Demon Races have kept a truce, with an agreement not to use magic against the Human Race.
Ning'an City, under the protection of the Immortal Race, has remained peaceful. The city lord, Bai Xun, was a mere warrior. He had fought bloodily on the battlefield for decades, earning great military achievements. He had two daughters, both cherished as precious gems. His eldest daughter, Bai Xi, was calm and graceful, while his second daughter, Bai Shuo, was lively and active, the complete opposite of Bai Xi.
When they were children, the two girls sneaked out on the night of the Lantern Festival to play, only to be kidnapped by a monster. Because Bai Xi possessed extraordinary fate and pure spiritual energy, the monster intended to absorb her for its own use. In the nick of time, the purple moon appeared in the sky, and the Demon God Tian Qi descended from above, killing the monster and rescuing Bai Shuo.
In order to save her elder sister, Bai Shuo knelt before Tian Qi and promised to cultivate Immortal Arts to repay the divine being’s life-saving grace. In the end, Tian Qi revived Bai Xi and, before leaving, told Bai Shuo that not all gods pity mortals. She should be thankful for having eyes so similar to her sister’s.
However, when Bai Shuo woke up, she could not remember the appearance of her benefactor, only that he had a red moon jade ring hanging at his waist. Not long after, Bai Xi fell seriously ill for an unknown reason. The city’s doctors were helpless. Fortunately, a wandering Daoist passed through, and though he saved Bai Xi’s life, he said her fate was unusual. She must leave the mortal realm to grow up safely.
Therefore, Bai Xun, with great pain, allowed Bai Xi to follow the Daoist away, and she was never heard from again. Since then, Bai Shuo spent her days searching for immortals and seeking the Dao, misunderstood by everyone, including her father. At a young age, she was promised in marriage to Zhong Zhao, the son of the nearby steamed bun shop owner.
Bai Xun and Zhong Zhao’s parents were old acquaintances, and when Zhong Zhao’s parents died unexpectedly, Bai Xun took him in as a son to care for. As time went on, he grew fond of the boy and eventually decided to adopt him as his son-in-law. Bai Shuo never took the engagement seriously, and Zhong Zhao never mentioned it either. The two shared a sibling-like bond, growing closer year by year.
Through all seasons, the meaning of home and family accompanied her as she grew into a young woman. More than a decade passed, and many things changed, but Bai Shuo’s resolve to cultivate the Dao remained unwavering. One day, Bai Shuo overheard from Master Sun that Immortals, in order to protect the people, would secretly send "Immortal Envoys" to observe every city.
If one were to find such an envoy and win them over with a hundredfold sincerity, they could join the Immortal sect. Believing this to be true, Bai Shuo brought her treasures to the Unbridled Pavilion, unaware that the true identity of the Pavilion’s master was Fan Yue, the King of the Polar Realm and Master of the Bright Moon Palace.
He had come to collect the five emotions of the world—love, hate, killing, greed, and desire—in order to restart the Desireless Stone and obtain the divine power left by the Moon Goddess. Upon meeting Bai Shuo, Fan Yue immediately embraced her, thinking she was an Immortal sent by the Lanling Sect to capture him. However, he was shocked to realize she was merely an unarmed mortal.
Bai Shuo, on the other hand, misunderstood and thought Fan Yue was testing her abilities, so she did not resist and even embraced him back, stunning him further. He was about to cast a spell to reprimand her when his guardian, Cang Shan, intervened. While Bai Shuo and Fan Yue exchanged cautious moves, Bai Xun suddenly arrived with his soldiers on a routine patrol.
He was shocked to find his daughter here and angrily scolded Fan Yue, calling him a man who used his charms to seduce his daughter. Bai Shuo’s accidental touch caused the Desireless Stone to glow, and before Fan Yue could react, Bai Shuo was taken away by her father, with plans to discuss matters another day. Meanwhile, the Lanling Sect held its regular meeting, gathering the Immortal Envoys.
Due to a lack of funds for repairs, the venue was humble, and the Sect Leader, Jin Yao, hesitantly chaired the meeting. He announced that the Desireless Stone had gone missing a few days ago. To appease the Immortal Envoys’ anger, Jin Yao staged a death penalty scene, and sure enough, the Immortal Envoys dispersed in frustration. Zhong Zhao, as the chief disciple of Lanling, bore the responsibility of earning money to support the sect.
Jin Yao, with a heavy heart, urged him to focus on making the bun shop profitable, not only to repair the roof and furniture but also to prepare supplies for future battles. Bai Shuo returned to the city lord’s mansion with her father, receiving a harsh reprimand from Bai Xun. Despite this, she refused to give up on her dream of cultivating immortality, which made Bai Xun furious. He threatened to sever their father-daughter relationship.
At the Unbridled Pavilion, Fan Yue, Tian Huo, and Cang Shan discussed the Desireless Stone. Since only Bai Shuo could make the Desireless Stone react, they decided to monitor her closely. On the other side, the Demon Race’s Lingquan Palace Master, Zhen Yu, and Fu Ling launched a covert attack on the Immortal Race to find the Desireless Stone but were unsuccessful.
Fu Ling suggested continuing her transformation into the courtesan Furong and infiltrating Ning'an City to sow discord between the Immortal Race and Fan Yue. The next morning, Bai Shuo, still in a cold war with her father, went back to the Unbridled Pavilion to probe Fan Yue’s identity. Fan Yue, seeing through her intentions, decided to play along, pretending to be an Immortal Envoy and testing her emotions to see if she could trigger the Desireless Stone.
Episode 2 Recap
Fan Yue had been waiting at the Unbridled Pavilion for a long time. When Bai Shuo arrived, the two exchanged words over drinks, testing each other. In response to Bai Shuo's doubts, Fan Yue claimed to be an immortal, a disciple of the former sect leader of the Lanling Sect. He had traveled the world and had stopped by Ning'an City on his journey. However, Bai Shuo did not easily believe him and hoped for Fan Yue to demonstrate his powers.
Without a word, Fan Yue summoned the wind and rain with a wave of his hand, which eased some of Bai Shuo’s suspicions. But it was precisely this use of magic that caught Zhong Zhao’s attention, and Fan Yue continued testing Bai Shuo's spiritual power. However, despite their combined spiritual energy, they couldn’t activate the Desireless Stone, and his strange behavior began to irritate Bai Shuo.
At this moment, Zhong Zhao, sensing the presence of demon energy, entered the Unbridled Pavilion and engaged in a struggle with Tian Huo and Cang Shan. It wasn’t until he saw Bai Shuo that he deliberately concealed his identity as an immortal. While both Fan Yue and Zhong Zhao had recognized each other's true identities, they did not reveal them.
Zhong Zhao, realizing that this was not a place to linger, grabbed Bai Shuo and pulled her outside, just as Fu Ling returned from outside. Meanwhile, Fan Yue, growing increasingly interested in Bai Shuo, pondered the fact that as a mere mortal, she could not only activate the Desireless Stone but also had an engagement with someone from the Lanling Sect.
He speculated that Bai Shuo might be a pawn sent by the Immortal Sect to get closer to him, and so he decided to test her further. To this end, Fan Yue sent a wolf demon to attack Bai Shuo, placing restrictions on it so that it would only injure and not kill her. If Bai Shuo were indeed an Immortal, she would surely be able to reveal her true nature.
Zhong Zhao, sensing the demon energy outside, chased after the small flower demon “Xi Xi” to a mansion and stopped Fu Ling from spreading demon poison. Fu Ling seized the opportunity to escape, and Zhong Zhao had to halt his pursuit to treat a wealthy merchant who had been poisoned. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo suspected that the wolf demon was arranged by Fan Yue and deliberately led it to the Unbridled Pavilion.
At first, Fan Yue used Bai Shuo’s blood to restrain the wolf demon, but to his surprise, her blood seemed to amplify the demon’s power. Just as Fan Yue was about to stand back and observe to uncover Bai Shuo’s true identity, the Desireless Stone suddenly flew out, protecting Bai Shuo and transporting her and Fan Yue to the Moon Hidden Sea in the Divine Realm.
There, Bai Shuo saw an elderly man fishing, with a red moon jade ring hanging from his waist. She confirmed that he was the “benefactor” she had been searching for. But the next moment, the benefactor vanished. Fan Yue demanded that Bai Shuo return the Desireless Stone, but to his fury, the stone had chosen Bai Shuo as its master.
Enraged, Fan Yue attempted to kill Bai Shuo and take the stone, but this backfired on him, triggering the Seven Star Soul Mark. The fourth star dimmed, and if the mark flared up three more times, he would die. The only way to save himself was to restart the divine power within the Desireless Stone. To save his life, Bai Shuo quickly proposed a cooperation.
She asked Fan Yue to help her return to the Moon Hidden Sea to find her benefactor. Fan Yue, considering the strange events surrounding Bai Shuo, suspected that there might still be gods among the mortal world. Bai Shuo also guessed that Fan Yue was likely a demon. When she heard that her father was coming to the Unbridled Pavilion, she rushed out to cover for Fan Yue.
Bai Xun, angry that his daughter kept visiting brothels, was about to take action when Zhong Zhao, seeing the situation, mentioned their past engagement and expressed his wish to marry Bai Shuo. Bai Xun, overjoyed, took the two back to the city lord’s mansion. That night, Bai Shuo searched ancient texts and concluded that Fan Yue was likely a demon. She then took the knife her elder sister had left for her.
Zhong Zhao came to see Bai Shuo the next day, repeatedly warning her not to be deceived by Fan Yue. He accidentally discovered that the Desireless Stone was inside Bai Shuo’s body and could not be removed. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Zhong Zhao chose to conceal this matter for the time being and did not report it to the sect.
At the same time, a flower demon sent by Fu Ling was observing the situation at the city lord’s mansion. The next morning, Fan Yue invited Bai Shuo to meet at the pavilion, claiming that he knew her benefactor. However, to restart the Desireless Stone and enter the Moon Hidden Sea again to rescue her benefactor, he needed to gather the five emotions of love, hate, killing, greed, and goodness.
Despite Bai Shuo’s many doubts, the thought of her benefactor suffering made her willing to give trust a chance. Fan Yue said that to gather the emotions, they would need to leave Ning’an City, but Bai Shuo hesitated and decided to first stay and celebrate her father’s birthday. She promised to give him an answer in three days.
Episode 3 Recap
Fu Ling returned to the Cold Spring Palace with a "Xi Xi" and reported the situation in Ning'an City to Zhen Yu. Upon hearing that Bai Shuo had absorbed the Desireless Stone into her body, and that the Master of Bright Moon Palace, Fan Yue, was able to let her carry the stone freely, Zhen Yu immediately ordered Fu Ling to capture her. In addition, Fu Ling had already spread the Nether Poison throughout the city.
When she found that the poison hadn't taken effect immediately, the demon lord Chen Ye, who was responsible for crafting the poison, suddenly appeared, mocking Fu Ling for her impatience. The two argued fiercely, until Zhen Yu intervened and broke up the conflict. That night, a poisoned merchant lost his sanity and bit his wife to death, then attacked others in the market the next day.
Just as Zhong Zhao was accompanying Bai Shuo to buy birthday gifts, he recognized the crazed person immediately. Confused, he wondered why the antidote he had given the merchant hadn’t worked. Deputy Commander Bai Yu and his men arrived just in time to subdue the merchant and quickly explained the situation to Bai Shuo. Realizing the severity of the situation, Zhong Zhao decided to seek help from the Immortal Sect.
He learned that several Lanling Sect disciples had been killed, all by the demons. To avoid alarming his master, Zhong Zhao personally sought out his martial uncles, Jing Lei and Yu Feng. He also mentioned the matter of the Desireless Stone recognizing its master.
The two uncles stated that if it had recognized the Immortals, they would bring it back to the sect, but if it had recognized the demons, they would kill on sight, even if the individual was of the Human Race, as there could be no future threat. As the number of poisoned people increased, Bai Xun locked them away in a remote courtyard, where the doctors were helpless.
Fu Ling attempted to ambush Bai Shuo but was severely injured by Fan Yue and had to flee in a panic. Zhong Zhao happened to encounter the injured Fu Ling and, thinking she was a human, sent her to the clinic for treatment. The doctor mistakenly thought they were a married couple.
In order to protect Bai Shuo, Fan Yue wanted to take her away, but the Desireless Stone caused her to see a vision of the chaos in Ning'an City, including the remote courtyard where Bai Xun had locked away the poisoned people. Through Fan Yue, Bai Shuo learned that the images shown by the Desireless Stone were events that had not yet occurred but would certainly happen in the future.
To achieve her goals, she had to ensure these events unfolded step by step. Bai Shuo realized that, at this moment, the enemy and ally were unclear, and Fan Yue might not truly be on her side. She decided to leave the Unbridled Pavilion on some pretext, and sure enough, she saw the madmen in the remote courtyard.
It was because the Desireless Stone had given her this insight that Fan Yue, not in a rush to leave Ning'an City, was instead waiting for the first clue to emerge. He had also learned that the Nether Poison was linked to the Cold Spring Palace and decided to wait patiently. Meanwhile, Fu Ling woke up and killed the doctor, deliberately creating chaos in the city, leading to many citizens being bitten by the madmen.
Bai Xun was also affected, and in his madness, he nearly harmed Bai Shuo. Zhong Zhao recognized Fu Ling as a demon and drew his sword. Fu Ling took the opportunity to frame Fan Yue, claiming to be acting under orders and refusing to hand over the antidote. When the city’s guards regained control of the situation, they tied up Bai Xun and brought him back to the mansion.
As Bai Shuo searched through the house, she found a birthday gift she had given her father hidden away. It finally dawned on her that Bai Xun had always cared for her, but he was simply not good at expressing it. Because the Nether Poison came in such a strange way, Bai Shuo knew that regular medicine wouldn't work, and she immediately thought of asking Fan Yue for help.
At this point, Zhong Zhao ventured into the Unbridled Pavilion to confront Fan Yue and unexpectedly learned that the brothel's courtesan was actually the demon lord Fu Ling in disguise. She was known for her expertise in demon flower escape techniques. Zhong Zhao was half-believing, and he ordered Fan Yue to hand over the antidote. Just as the two were engaged in a fierce battle, Bai Shuo, who had come to seek the antidote, witnessed the confrontation.
It was then that Bai Shuo was shocked to discover that Zhong Zhao was an immortal and had been hiding his identity all along. Faced with Bai Shuo’s questioning, Zhong Zhao had no choice but to admit the truth and took her to a small hut outside the city. Bai Shuo angrily accused Zhong Zhao of deceiving her, as she had hoped to seek help from the Immortals to save Ning'an City.
However, Zhong Zhao explained that the Nether Poison was a demon poison and that the Immortals had no antidote for it. In order to protect Bai Shuo’s safety, Zhong Zhao stopped her from seeking Fan Yue's help and trapped her in the hut with a barrier. He also realized that this event would forever change their relationship.
Zhong Zhao then decided to find Fu Ling alone, believing that only by locating the true instigators of the chaos could the turmoil in Ning'an City be resolved.
Episode 4 Recap
In order to draw the five top immortals of Lanling Sect to fight Fan Yue, Fu Ling continued to cause chaos in Ning'an City. Zhong Zhao suddenly appeared to stop Fu Ling. When he saw her using the Cloud Fire Bow, he confirmed she was a demon lord from the Cold Spring Palace. As the two fought, Zhen Yu appeared to protect Fu Ling, wounding Zhong Zhao and attempting to kill him to silence him.
Seeing this, Fu Ling blocked the attack aimed at Zhong Zhao and covered for him to escape. Although Zhong Zhao owed Fu Ling his life, according to the rules of the Cold Spring Palace, the mistake she made today should result in her death and the destruction of her soul. Fu Ling, however, expressed her willingness to let Zhen Yu handle her fate.
She explained that saving Zhong Zhao was not just out of gratitude but also because she felt he was someone worth drawing into their fold. If properly utilized, he might become an ally within the Immortal Sect. Zhen Yu found this idea interesting and decided to spare her punishment. Bai Shuo, in an attempt to break the barrier, decided to gamble and tried to self-destruct in order to summon the power of the Desireless Stone. As expected, her method worked.
When she ran back to Ning'an City, she found the city in utter chaos, with madmen infected by the Nether Poison wandering the streets. Zhong Zhao had previously warned Bai Shuo not to expect Fan Yue's help, as he was of the demon race. Bai Shuo, daring to take the risk, was bitten by one of the madmen and immediately went to the Unbridled Pavilion to find Fan Yue. During this time, Bai Shuo saw Fan Yue's true nature.
She uncovered that he had been deceiving her all along by gathering five desires and gaining her trust to manipulate her. As for why Fan Yue refused to help Bai Xun, it was because he intended to turn the chaos of Ning'an City into hell, forcing the five desires to be born, and then use Bai Shuo to absorb them.
Because of this, Bai Shuo revealed her arm, which had been bitten by the madman, and demanded Fan Yue hand over the antidote, betting that there was something in his heart he could not let go of. Fan Yue was touched by her words and took out a seed of the Ghost Grass. He explained that the seed needed to be watered with human blood to bloom—one flower a day could alleviate the effects of the Nether Poison.
His implication was clear: it was a trade of life for life. Bai Shuo then planted the seed under a tree and fed it with her own blood. In order to speed up its growth, she weakened her own body considerably. However, she was reluctant to harm anyone and bet that human nature was inherently good. But Fan Yue believed that human nature was inherently evil.
If a mortal were to develop selfish desires for the Ghost Grass, the plant meant to save lives would turn into a weapon that killed. He watched to see how she would deal with this situation. Soon, the Ghost Grass bloomed. Bai Xun took the flower and fed it to Bai Shuo, who passed out from excessive blood loss. Fan Yue appeared just in time and carried her back to her room.
As he looked at the various cultivation items in Bai Shuo's room, he found it amusing yet ridiculous. He sighed quietly and left. In the dim light, Bai Shuo felt that Fan Yue's figure resembled that of a benefactor. Zhong Zhao returned to the Lanling Sect to request support for Ning'an City and revealed the fact that Bai Shuo had the Desireless Stone within her body. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo woke up feeling weak, which made Bai Xun anxious and suspicious.
He asked about the origin of the Ghost Grass and the method of treatment, leading to a heated argument between father and daughter. After Bai Xun left the room, Bai Shuo also felt troubled, as it wasn’t that she didn’t want to reveal the truth, but the truth was simply too cruel. Zhen Yu had been observing the situation in Ning'an City from the shadows. Fan Yue came personally to confront Zhen Yu, warning him not to harm Bai Shuo.
Fu Ling deliberately spread the rumor that the City Lord’s residence had the antidote, which immediately caused unrest among the people. They surrounded the City Lord’s mansion, crying out in desperation. Bai Xun had no choice but to appear and promise to find a solution. At this moment, Bai Shuo fainted again. The doctor diagnosed her with excessive blood loss. Under Bai Xun’s intense questioning, she reluctantly revealed the truth.
In the garden, Bai Xun wanted to destroy the Ghost Grass, calling it a bottomless abyss that traded life for life. He could not bear to see his daughter bleed for him, nor did he want to see the people fight over the Ghost Grass and cause killings. That night was Bai Xun's birthday. Father and daughter shared a meal and drinks in the small courtyard, talking heart-to-heart and resolving years of misunderstanding.
Bai Shuo, still under the influence of the medicine, lost consciousness. Bai Xun’s actions were filled with good intentions—he ordered his men to quietly take Bai Shuo out of the city. At the same time, the outer perimeter of the City Lord’s mansion was surrounded by out-of-control citizens. Even though Bai Yu was injured, he would not turn his blade against the people. Bai Xun, however, burned all the Ghost Grass, preparing to fight to the death to protect Ning'an City.
Episode 5 Recap
The scene outside the City Lord’s mansion was more chaotic than ever. Those shouting and cursing outside the gates were all the citizens whom City Lord Bai Xun had protected and cherished. When Bai Shuo woke up, she found herself in a carriage. She hurriedly shouted for the driver, Wang Bo, to stop. However, since this was the City Lord’s order, Wang Bo stubbornly refused to let Bai Shuo return to the city.
On the surface, Bai Shuo agreed to Wang Bo, but in truth, she knocked him unconscious when he wasn’t paying attention. With Fan Yue’s help, she quickly returned to Ning’an City, only to encounter the five top immortals of Lanling Sect and Zhong Zhao, who had come to provide support. Jin Yao wanted to take Bai Shuo away, but Fan Yue told her to leave first while he stayed behind to face Jin Yao and his group alone.
Zhong Zhao followed closely behind, trying to convince Bai Shuo to return to Lanling with him. Bai Shuo firmly refused, but fortunately, Tian Huo and Cang Shan arrived just in time to block Zhong Zhao’s way. Fu Ling deliberately set up a barrier along the road to the City Lord’s mansion, preventing Bai Shuo from getting closer, forcing her to watch as her father faced an angry mob of citizens alone.
These people began to doubt and curse Bai Xun, even hitting him on the forehead until it bled, showing no gratitude for the past kindness he had shown them. Under Fu Ling’s influence, Bai Xun began to lose his sanity. This caused the citizens to panic and, in the end, they shouted for his death and rushed to beat him.
Seeing this scene, Fu Ling couldn’t help but reflect on how Bai Xun’s beloved citizens had completely turned their backs on him, filled with hatred and a desire to kill. Fu Ling tried to persuade Bai Shuo to join the Demon Race and serve the Cold Spring Palace, claiming that Zhen Yu would surely appreciate her.
Bai Shuo was heartbroken and begged Fu Ling to cure the Nether Poison, but Fu Ling told her that the poison had no cure and that today, someone would have to die. Fu Ling once again invoked her demonic power, causing Bai Xun to go mad and try to kill. A little girl, tearfully pleading with him to stop hurting her father, managed to awaken his reason.
To protect the people of Ning’an City, Bai Xun kneeled and prayed to the gods, offering his life in exchange for the safety of the city. He then drew his sword and ended his life. Bai Shuo, who had witnessed everything, was devastated. When the barrier was lifted, she rushed to her father’s side, holding him tightly and filled with hatred for those around her. But in his final moments, Bai Xun reached out to his daughter.
His death triggered a surge of "good" thoughts, and the Desireless Stone absorbed this positive energy, releasing a divine light that enveloped Ning’an City, curing the citizens of the Nether Poison. Fan Yue rushed to Bai Shuo’s side and caught her as she floated in the air. Zhen Yu, wanting to harm Zhong Zhao, was stopped by Fu Ling once again, which displeased him.
The immortals led by Jin Yao arrived, and the citizens of the city, now cured, showed gratitude, ignoring the fact that the peace had been achieved thanks to the City Lord’s sacrifice. Originally, Fan Yue planned to take the unconscious Bai Shuo and leave, but Jin Yao reminded him to let Bai Shuo say her final goodbyes to her father, at least allowing her to send Bai Xun off on his last journey.
At this moment, Bai Shuo’s consciousness returned to the Moon Hidden Sea, where she met the "benefactor" she had been searching for. She begged this benefactor to bring her father back to life, but the benefactor told her that she was the one who could truly intervene in life and death. The benefactor reminded Bai Shuo that she needed to gather the desires again to restart the power of the Desireless Stone.
The benefactor’s existence wasn’t to repay anyone but to show her that she shouldn’t live for anyone else. The Desireless Stone entering her body was both an opportunity and a result of fate. Back in reality, Bai Shuo hurried to the mourning hall and cried bitterly beside her father’s coffin, personally sending him off. Outside the City Lord’s mansion, Ning’an City was gradually calming down after the chaos.
Jin Yao looked out from a high vantage point and sighed, lamenting that today’s events were a failure of the Eternal Race and the Bright Moon Palace. He hoped that Fan Yue would let Bai Shuo choose for herself, whether to join the Immortal Sect or the Demon Palace.
Zhen Yu took Fu Ling back to the Cold Spring Palace and gave her a harsh punishment for repeatedly showing “good intentions” in saving Zhong Zhao, which went against her usual style of behavior. Fu Ling denied any romantic interest in Zhong Zhao, explaining that she only wanted to recruit him into Cold Spring Palace. Zhen Yu ordered Fu Ling to make Zhong Zhao serve her within a month, or he would personally deal with him.
In the mourning hall, Bai Shuo finally understood the nature of both the Immortal and Demon races, realizing that she could never return to the past with Zhong Zhao. They would now become strangers. Due to Jin Yao’s use of immortal magic to erase the memories of the citizens, on the day of the funeral, the people mourned without remembering that they had once forced the City Lord to his death.
Only Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, and a few others retained the memory of that tragic event. After burying her father, Bai Shuo knelt at Bai Xun’s grave. From this experience, she realized that relying on others was futile and silently swore to become stronger and avenge her father by going to the Cold Spring Palace.
Just as Fan Yue appeared to take Bai Shuo away, she, filled with sorrow and anger, pulled out a hairpin and stabbed it toward his chest. At that moment, Zhong Zhao arrived to take Bai Shuo, but Bai Shuo ultimately chose to leave with Fan Yue. Though she refused Fan Yue’s help, he bluntly told her that, in his eyes, she was merely the vessel for the Desireless Stone.
Episode 6 Recap
As soon as Fan Yue spoke, Bai Shuo felt a surge of anger in her heart. She drew a dagger and aimed it at her chest, stating that if she died, the Desireless Stone would become a useless rock. However, Fan Yue was completely unfazed. He even exposed her desire for revenge, telling her that relying on the Human Race alone wouldn’t work.
She would have to choose between the Immortal and Demon Races, but he was sure that she had already seen the futility of the Immortal Race. Only the Bright Moon Palace, he claimed, was her best choice. Although Bai Shuo stubbornly retorted, she couldn’t deny that Fan Yue had hit the mark. Fan Yue then told Bai Shuo to attack him, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t hurt him.
In contrast, Fan Yue easily controlled her, mocking her for being unable to even get close to him, let alone kill Zhen Yu. He reminded her that Zhen Yu, as one of the three kings of the Demon Race, was not someone to be underestimated. Fan Yue then reminded Bai Shuo that she had no other options. Only by becoming strong enough to make her enemies fear her could she begin her revenge. He urged her to calm down.
Tian Huo, noticing Fan Yue’s unique attitude toward Bai Shuo, warned him not to be swayed by momentary pity. Fan Yue reassured Tian Huo that he knew exactly what he was doing. Bai Shuo, as a member of the Human Race, had involved herself in the conflict between the Immortal and Demon Races, and she needed to learn the power to protect herself.
Meanwhile, Jin Yao, the leader of the Lanling Sect, discussed the whereabouts of the Desireless Stone with other immortals. The immediate priority was to find the location of the Bright Moon Palace and find Bai Shuo to bring her back. Zhong Zhao had been punished with three hundred red-bone lashes due to the events in Ning’an City. This punishment was a severe one, as the red-bone whip was meant to torment the soul, making it unbearable for most people.
Although Jin Yao felt sympathy for him and knew that the Cold Spring Palace was the real culprit, he couldn’t absolve Zhong Zhao of his responsibility in the Ning’an chaos. In addition to the lashes, Zhong Zhao was also required to guard the Heart Cliff and reflect on his actions. Bai Shuo locked herself in her room for two days, until Tian Huo brought her a bottle of medicine and a knife, telling her to choose between the two.
With Tian Huo’s provocation, Bai Shuo snapped out of her despair and decided to take the initiative. She asked Fan Yue to teach her magic. She was willing to learn from him directly or, if he preferred, he could find someone else to teach her. Fan Yue gladly agreed. On the other hand, Fu Ling, having helped Zhong Zhao twice, was punished by Zhen Yu.
She declared her intention to recruit Zhong Zhao into the Cold Spring Palace, hoping to buy herself a month of time. Zhong Zhao, reflecting on his guilt over Bai Shuo, was suddenly approached by Fu Ling, who hinted at the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths of his parents, urging him to come to the Demon Race for answers.
It turned out that ten years ago, during the Lantern Festival in Xun Garden, the Human Race had been attacked by the Demon Race, resulting in hundreds of deaths. Lanling Immortal, Zhong Tai, and his wife Meng Ning had been ordered to investigate, but they were killed by the Scorpion Demon, Qian Yin. Zhong Zhao, suspecting that the true cause of his parents’ deaths was different, had been searching for answers for years without success.
Fu Ling informed him that his parents had not died at the hands of the Scorpion Demon, since the demon had already died two days ago. She hinted that the truth was not always what it seemed. Soon after, Fan Yue took Bai Shuo to the armory, where she chose the most powerful Fire Wheel Staff. Despite her strong will, she couldn’t fully control it, and the staff burned her hands with intense fire.
Seeing this, Fan Yue ordered Tian Huo to take Bai Shuo back to her room. Tian Huo treated her burns, warning her not to wander around the Bright Moon Palace, as there were taboos that she should avoid. After Tian Huo left, Bai Shuo reflected on her past with her father and silently vowed to take vengeance. She was determined to find her own path. In the following days, she didn’t see Fan Yue.
Unable to wait any longer, she secretly followed him into a secret room one night. The room was dimly lit by candles, with plaques hanging around, each engraved with different names. As she explored deeper, Bai Shuo was shocked to find a plaque with the name “Fan Yue. ” However, Fan Yue discovered her intrusion and became furious, warning her not to pry into any secrets. Bai Shuo, in her anger, insisted that she had every right to grow stronger.
Fan Yue replied that he understood her urgency to grow stronger, but the changes she had faced were not the only ones she had encountered. After Fan Yue used his magic to throw Bai Shuo out of the secret room, the surroundings fell silent once again. The plaques hanging on the walls were from the deceased members of the Bai Ze Clan, each one a memory that led Fan Yue to reflect on the past.
Years ago, when Fan Yue had woken up with no memory, he had spent some unforgettable and happy times with the clan leader, Gu Shang, and his little companion, Qi Feng. Unfortunately, the Bai Ze Clan had fallen into disaster when the Tiger Clan slaughtered their people. Fan Yue had been the sole survivor. The next morning, Bai Shuo arrived with fresh fruit to apologize to Fan Yue for her reckless behavior the night before.
However, she suddenly felt the effects of a backlash from demonic energy. When Fan Yue asked her about it, she admitted that she had been secretly practicing the Demon Race’s heart techniques. Fan Yue explained that the Desireless Stone was an ancient artifact of the Night Clan, which naturally clashed with the Demon Race’s techniques.
To resolve the backlash, Fan Yue took Bai Shuo to the Lanling Sect, where they sought out Lao Gui, a thousand-year-old mystical turtle with whom Fan Yue had a strong relationship. Fan Yue had previously saved Lao Gui’s life and helped him sever Zhen Yu’s tail, creating a rivalry with the Cold Spring Palace. Fan Yue instructed Bai Shuo to learn from Lao Gui, and despite his reluctance under Fan Yue’s threat, Lao Gui agreed to teach her. However, Bai Shuo was deeply dissatisfied with Lao Gui’s teaching methods.
Episode 7 Recap
While Lao Gui was teaching Bai Shuo magic, he first taught her how to hold her breath and how to escape in dangerous situations. This frustrated Bai Shuo, and she threatened him in the same way Fan Yue had threatened others. In response, Lao Gui said he would teach her his most prized skills, but to her surprise, these skills turned out to be divination and pill refining, which was far from Bai Shuo’s goal of quickly becoming stronger.
Bai Shuo was dissatisfied with the content of Lao Gui’s teachings, but Lao Gui explained that one couldn’t achieve success overnight or leap straight to the top. Seeking rapid results would only make things worse because strength isn’t just about physical power; it’s equally about cultivating one’s mind and character. After hearing this, Bai Shuo had an epiphany. She sincerely pledged to learn from Lao Gui and began studying pill refining and divination.
Lao Gui was pleased by her dedication and talent, feeling reassured by her progress. Originally, Jin Yao had sent the immortal Yan Huo to write letters to the seventy-two immortal sects, calling for a joint effort to attack the Cold Spring Palace. However, the response was lackluster. Most of the letters went unanswered, and only the Kunlun and Wuliang sects expressed willingness to fight.
Jin Yao wasn’t greatly surprised by this outcome, but he hadn’t expected that fewer than three sects would be willing to go to war. Without Zhong Zhao’s support from the bun shop, Lanling Sect’s treasury was quickly running dry. Now that Zhong Zhao had been punished and had spent time reflecting, Jin Yao lifted his confinement and sent disciples to Lao Gui to obtain healing pills for Zhong Zhao.
Bai Shuo happened to be in her room at that time and overheard the conversation between the disciples and Lao Gui. She finally learned that Zhong Zhao had delayed reporting the situation to save her, almost causing the deaths of everyone in Ning’an City. Meanwhile, Jin Yao personally visited the Reflection Cliff to check on Zhong Zhao and offer advice. He told him to go down the mountain and experience the world to hone his character.
Zhong Zhao still wanted to investigate the cause of his parents' deaths, but Jin Yao reminded him that the entire Lanling Sect had spent a year looking for answers without success. He encouraged Zhong Zhao to let go of the past and start a new life. Recently, the Cold Spring Palace had been very active, destroying three clans within three months. Zhen Yu had even taken the inner dan of the clan leaders to heal his tail injury.
This intense action suggested that the Cold Spring Palace was planning something bigger. Fan Yue wasn’t too concerned, though. As long as he was around, Zhen Yu wouldn’t be able to stir up trouble. The immediate priority was to help Bai Shuo gather the five thoughts. Tian Huo suspected that Fan Yue had developed feelings for Bai Shuo and warned that she should not become a weakness for the Bright Moon Palace.
On the other hand, Bai Shuo, upon hearing about Zhong Zhao’s punishment, felt conflicted and heavy-hearted. She confided in Lao Gui, understanding that neither she nor Zhong Zhao could go back, and that she had no right to blame him. She accepted that everything that happened in Ning’an City was her fault.
Lao Gui told her that life is a process of moving from nothing to nothing, where the beginning and the end are already decided, but the journey in between is something that one must shape for themselves. He reminded her to live authentically, without attachment, without self-inflicted suffering, without forcing things, and without being pretentious. Before setting off to train in the outside world, Zhong Zhao carefully read through the notes left by his parents.
Reflecting on Fu Ling’s words, he decided to personally investigate the truth in the Demon Race. Fu Ling had been waiting for him and took him to the Demon Race’s graveyard. There, she pointed out that the Scorpion Demon, Qian Yin, had died before Zhong Zhao’s parents, so it was impossible for him to have been the murderer. Bai Shuo, meanwhile, was flipping through a pill refining manual and noticed that it didn’t contain any recipes for the first-grade pills.
She asked Lao Gui about it, betting that she could definitely refine a first-grade spiritual pill. In the middle of the night, as Bai Shuo was refining pills and feeling bored, she used a small seashell to chat with Fan Yue. They shared details of their lives and admired the same bright moon.
Fu Ling reported her progress with Zhong Zhao to Zhen Yu, saying that she had provided him with the clues he needed and was helping him cultivate the obsession to grow stronger. Once a heart demon was born, he would become a useful tool for the Cold Spring Palace.
Zhen Yu admired Fu Ling’s plan and ordered her to do whatever it took to make Zhong Zhao abandon the Immortal path and join the Demon Race, thus joining the Cold Spring Palace. Not long after, Bai Shuo successfully refined a second-grade pill. Just as she was about to celebrate, the Immortal of Thunder, Jing Lei, appeared and tried to kill Bai Shuo for associating with the Demon Race. Zhong Zhao intervened and stopped Jing Lei with his sword.
Bai Shuo explained that her actions had nothing to do with Zhong Zhao and decided to leave the Immortal Race. However, Jin Yao blocked her path, deciding to forcibly erase her memory. At that moment, Bai Shuo’s forehead seal activated, revealing the next thought’s information. In a critical moment, Fan Yue arrived just in time to take Bai Shuo away.
Lao Gui was then punished by Lanling Sect, ordered to refine an additional one hundred powerful healing pills each month and sell them to supplement the sect’s finances. Jin Yao remembered the Lanling ancestral teachings, which mentioned that one day, a Human Race girl would awaken the Desireless Stone. She would be the only one in the world capable of unlocking the power of the divine stone.
It seemed that Bai Shuo was the fated person spoken of in the prophecy. Zhong Zhao asked Jin Yao if he was deliberately avoiding bringing back the Desireless Stone. Jin Yao replied that he always had his own reasons for what he did. At that moment, in the Bright Moon Palace, Bai Shuo drew the vision she had previously seen and realized that the object was called "Wutong Heartfire.
" Everyone analyzed that the next thought would lead to a different city, but the location of this city was hard to find. Bai Shuo had seen many Immortal and Demon Race disciples gathered in this city. It seemed that not only they needed to enter, but they also needed to host the Wutong Martial Banquet to allow more disciples to enter the city. Fan Yue explained that the Wutong Martial Banquet hadn’t been held in seven years, and no one knew why.
Episode 8 Recap
After Zhong Zhao returned to Lanling Sect, he once again asked Jin Yao about the cause of his parents’ deaths. However, Jin Yao became angry, accusing him of getting involved with a Demon Race woman. Jin Yao stated that once the soul lamp extinguishes, the soul's connection is severed, leaving no chance for survival. Moreover, if his parents were truly alive, they wouldn’t have stayed away for so many years.
Jin Yao advised Zhong Zhao to let go of the past. Fan Yue and Bai Shuo explored the desert in search of the location of the Hidden City. During their investigation, they triggered a dangerous sand formation. At the critical moment, Fan Yue used his whip to anchor himself to a wall, holding onto Bai Shuo tightly with his other hand. He reassured her that no matter what, he would never let anything happen to her.
His words stirred something in Bai Shuo’s heart, but she quickly shifted her focus and deduced the Hidden City’s location from a nursery rhyme. Following the clues, they entered the eye of the storm and successfully found the city's entrance. Fan Yue's selfless protection during the sandstorm began to earn Bai Shuo's trust in the great demon king before her. When they arrived at the Hidden City, they met Hua Lin, the King of the Hidden City.
Bai Shuo persuaded him, using both soft and hard tactics, to send invitations to the Eternal and Demon Races within three days and reopen the Wutong Martial Banquet, which had been discontinued for seven years. She promised Hua Lin that if he complied, the Hidden City could be integrated into the Polar Realm for protection. Hua Lin's deputy, Wu Zhao, advised against reopening the banquet.
Hua Lin, torn between choices, acknowledged that with the city's exposure, relocating the city within three days was impossible. If the Eternal and Demon Races discovered the city's location, the secrets within would be in jeopardy. At this moment, Zhen Yu entered, offering to help Hua Lin keep the city’s secrets and handle any trouble—on the condition that Hua Lin find the Desireless Stone for him.
In Lanling Sect, Sect Leader Jin Yao convened the high immortals to announce that Hua Lin had sent invitations for the Wutong Martial Banquet, inviting both the Eternal and Demon Races to the Hidden City. The winner of the banquet would receive a Wutong Spirit Pill. Initially, the high immortals showed little interest. However, upon learning that the Spirit Pill could be sold to other sects for money, they became eager to participate.
Jin Yao ordered Zhong Zhao to lead the team and gifted him the Cang Xuan Sword. With the Eternal and Demon Races closely monitoring the banquet, tensions rose in the Hidden City, where the Hidden People harbored hostility toward outsiders. Bai Shuo quickly realized that the Hidden People, despite their naturally strong physiques, had weak spiritual powers and were thus discriminated against by both the Eternal and Demon Races. This had fostered mutual animosity.
To maintain balance, spiritual powers were prohibited within the city. Zhong Zhao arrived with his sect brothers, attempting to persuade Bai Shuo to abandon her alliance with the Demon Race. However, prompted by Fan Yue, Bai Shuo declared that the Eternal Sect couldn’t provide what she desired and that her path was destined to diverge from theirs.
Meanwhile, Zhen Yu, confirming that all sects had fallen into his trap, instructed Fu Ling to monitor Bai Shuo and planted other spies in the city. Later, Bai Shuo and her companions witnessed a brawl between the Eternal and Demon Races at an inn. Bai Shuo was nearly caught in the chaos but was saved by Fan Yue, who shielded her.
Nan Wan, a disciple of Yunxiao Sect, led her sect members in a fight with the Demon Race over lodging, while Bei Chen, a disciple of Kunlun Sect, tried to mediate, though his words fell on deaf ears. Seeing the unrest, Bai Shuo questioned why the Eternal and Demon Races were staying in the same inn despite their animosity.
Fan Yue explained that the Hidden King had once hoped to foster reconciliation among the three races and had established rules for their coexistence. However, Bai Shuo dismissed the rules as superficial, asserting that peace was impossible as long as their stances remained opposed. Zhong Zhao tried to defuse the conflict but was mocked by Nan Wan. Bai Shuo defended Zhong Zhao, angering Nan Wan further. Instinctively, Bai Shuo turned to Fan Yue for help.
With a single lash of his whip, Fan Yue knocked Nan Wan to the ground, intimidating the onlookers. Bai Shuo relished the moment of standing up to the bullies. Just as the commotion settled, a group of Hidden People arrived at the inn, led by a woman holding a sickly child. They angrily accused the Eternal and Demon Races of causing the child’s illness.
Yunxiao Sect and the Demon Race were eager to escalate the conflict, but Bai Shuo used a pill to cure the child, earning her the first Heart Flame. This, however, drew resentment from both the Eternal and Demon Races. Deputy Wu Zhao then announced the rules of the Wutong Martial Banquet: only those who collected three Heart Flames would emerge as the ultimate victor.
It was also revealed that Fan Yue was the Master of Bright Moon Palace, deterring others from antagonizing Bai Shuo. The Demon Race chose to remain neutral, unwilling to offend Bright Moon Palace or Cold Spring Palace. Bai Shuo found the appearance of the first Heart Flame suspicious, suspecting a prearranged scheme. Fan Yue speculated that it was likely tied to the Desireless Stone, and the two decided to investigate further.
Fu Ling approached Zhong Zhao, warning him of dangers in the Hidden City and urging him to leave. Zhong Zhao rejected her warning outright. Bai Shuo unexpectedly appeared, prompting Fu Ling to depart. Bai Shuo then asked Zhong Zhao about Lao Gui’s condition and expressed that their relationship could never return to what it once was.
Episode 9 Recap
When Bai Shuo left Zhong Zhao's room, she discovered Fan Yue standing nearby. The two went off to investigate together and uncovered the existence of evil cultivators within the strange city. Before they could delve deeper into the matter, they were attacked by a monster. Only Tian Huo remained unaffected by the city’s restrictive magic, which made Bai Shuo suspicious of her identity.
While tracking the monster, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue arrived at the palace of the Strange King, where Wu Zhao intercepted them. Although they suspected a connection between the monster and Hua Lin, they had no choice but to return to the inn. Later, Bai Shuo confronted Tian Huo, accusing her of being a member of the Strange People. She argued that since they had made a deal with the Master of Bright Moon Palace, mutual trust was necessary.
Fan Yue admitted that Tian Huo had indeed been one of the Strange People in the past, though he didn’t know why she possessed such extraordinary spiritual power. Still, he believed in her unwavering loyalty. Fan Yue promised Bai Shuo that as long as he lived, he would ensure her safety. However, Bai Shuo retorted that his protection was solely for the Desireless Stone, causing a rift between them.
That same night, Tian Huo snuck into the Strange King’s palace and encountered Wu Zhao, who was overjoyed to see her. It turned out that Tian Huo’s true identity was Hua Hong, the daughter of the Strange King. Years ago, the queen sacrificed herself for the city, fueling Hua Hong’s hatred toward her father, the Strange King, and Wu Zhao, her foster uncle. She left the city in anger and joined the Demon Race.
However, Tian Huo’s purpose in returning to the palace wasn’t to reminisce but to question Wu Zhao about the monster and the second Heartfire. Wu Zhao denied everything. As they spoke, Hua Lin appeared. The reunion between father and daughter after years of separation turned into a heated argument. Hua Lin angrily ordered Tian Huo to leave the city, but she remained unaware of her father’s true intentions.
Back at the inn, Tian Huo reported her findings to Fan Yue, who emphasized the urgency of collecting the Heartfires. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao approached Bai Shuo, warning her that something was amiss in the city and revealing that Fu Ling was also present. He urged her to leave quickly. Bai Shuo, furious at Zhong Zhao for hiding Fu Ling’s involvement, warned him never to deceive her again.
When Zhong Zhao left her room, Fan Yue noticed his departure, and both men were preoccupied with their own concerns. The next morning, Hua Yong sent pastries to his sister Tian Huo, who angrily threw them to the ground, declaring that she would never forgive him. When Fan Yue stopped Bai Shuo from interfering, she decided to investigate the second Heartfire on her own.
She approached Hu’er’s mother to inquire about the monster and the Heartfire, learning that the monster had been appearing since seven years ago. As Bai Shuo prepared to leave, she realized Fan Yue had been following her to protect her. This softened the tension between them. Elsewhere, Fu Ling arrived at the palace, praising Hua Lin for using a blood sacrifice on the Strange King’s sword to prematurely summon two Heartfires.
However, she urged him to act swiftly to avoid unforeseen complications. Late at night, a shadow appeared above the inn, prompting the gathered immortals and demons, along with Bai Shuo, to pursue it to the Grave of the Strange People. The shadow vanished, leaving them face-to-face with Rong Xian, the tomb guardian. Initially appearing as an old man, Rong Xian revealed his youthful form when he discovered their intention to steal the second Heartfire. A battle broke out.
In the chaos, Mu Jiu, the young master of the Fox Clan, tried to avenge his clan and Ling Long, the saintess, by ambushing Rong Xian, but he failed. Unable to defeat Rong Xian, the group was turned into stone statues. Since Tian Huo was the daughter of the Strange King, she was unaffected. However, Fan Yue, Bai Shuo, Bei Chen, and Mu Jiu were drawn into the realm of Rong Xian’s memories, distorted by resentment and the Desireless Stone.
The timeline shifted back a thousand years. Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, and Bei Chen found themselves as the younger sisters and guards of Ling Long, the saintess of the Fox Clan. Though they appeared to be visiting Kunlun for peace talks, their true mission was to steal the Kunlun snow lotus to prolong their elder's life.
Meanwhile, Mu Jiu transformed from the young master of the Fox Clan into a Kunlun disciple and encountered Rong Xian, who was then the holy son of Kunlun. All these changes were shaped by Rong Xian’s consciousness. The real Rong Xian and Ling Long had died a millennium ago. To break free from this realm of resentment, they would need to follow the cycle of life and death.
Episode 10 Recap
According to Bei Chen's account of events from a thousand years ago, Bai Shuo learned about the Fox Clan maiden, Ling Long, who entered Kunlun and fell in love with Rong Xian, the holy son. However, the ongoing conflict between the Eternal Race and the Demon Race made their love unacceptable to both sides. The two decided to live in seclusion, away from worldly affairs. One day, Ling Long suddenly stormed into Kunlun and began a massacre.
Hearing the news, Rong Xian rushed over and killed Ling Long, then unleashed his fury in Jingyou Mountain. To completely break free from the realm of resentment, Bai Shuo proposed preventing Ling Long and Rong Xian from falling in love. However, her immediate priority was to accompany Ling Long to meet Rong Xian.
Ling Long planned to use her charm to seduce Rong Xian and obtain the snow lotus, so Bai Shuo interrupted their conversation at the banquet and diverted Rong Xian’s attention toward herself. Meanwhile, outside the hall, Mu Jiu encountered Bei Chen and was shocked to find him also trapped in the realm of resentment. When Ling Long emerged from the hall, she noticed Mu Jiu being particularly attentive to her, finding it amusing.
However, she misunderstood Rong Xian’s interest in Bai Shuo as love at first sight, which made Fan Yue incredibly jealous. He barged into the banquet, leading Ling Long to mistakenly believe that Bai Shuo and Fan Yue had feelings for each other. To conceal his identity, Fan Yue played along with Ling Long’s assumptions.
Ling Long, wanting to help her “sister” find happiness, decided to distract Rong Xian herself, arranging for Bai Shuo and Fan Yue to steal the snow lotus. Through their secret communication, Fan Yue emphasized the need to complete their mission quickly, as bringing Ling Long back to the Fox Clan sooner would reduce her chances of falling for Rong Xian. Elsewhere, the Kunlun elders captured Bei Chen and subjected him to whipping, demanding to know the Fox Clan’s true intentions.
Bei Chen, having no way to explain, suffered in silence. Mu Jiu, delighting in his plight, even joined in to whip him personally. As night fell, Rong Xian accepted an invitation to have tea with Ling Long. The two engaged in pleasant conversation, while Fan Yue led Bai Shuo to the snowy mountain, deactivated the formation, and retrieved the snow lotus. However, Kunlun disciples ambushed them.
Hearing the alarm bells, Ling Long realized the ambush had been set up long before and angrily accused Rong Xian. To her surprise, Rong Xian revealed they had met once before. Ten years earlier, Rong Xian had been gravely injured and collapsed in Qingling Mountain, where Ling Long had saved him. At the time, his face had been obscured, so Ling Long did not recognize him.
Knowing she needed the snow lotus to save her elder, Rong Xian willingly offered it to her. Ling Long was both shocked and moved, making a note to remember his kindness. Fan Yue, unwilling to fight the Kunlun disciples, used teleportation within the realm of resentment but ultimately failed to prevent Ling Long and Rong Xian from developing feelings for each other. In the next moment, Rong Xian’s obsession transported the four of them three years into the future.
By then, Ling Long and Rong Xian were already married and living in seclusion. Despite occasional arguments, their deep love for each other allowed them to overlook any flaws and focus only on their virtues. While Bai Shuo and Fan Yue initially tried to separate them, they gradually began to understand love through the couple’s influence. At this time, Ling Long was pregnant but had yet to tell Rong Xian.
Just as she prepared to share the happy news, Rong Xian received word from Kunlun that his sect master was gravely ill and near death. The sect master wanted Rong Xian to succeed him as the leader, but Rong Xian refused. He believed the bloodshed between the Eternal and Demon Races over the past millennium should end and was determined to honor his vow to stay with Ling Long for life.
The sect master, seeing Rong Xian’s resolute stance, conspired with the elders to subdue him. They transferred all their spiritual power to Rong Xian and forcibly altered his memory, turning his love for Ling Long into hatred. This scene was witnessed by Mu Jiu from outside the door. Influenced by the memory manipulation, Rong Xian came to believe that the Fox Clan was responsible for his parents’ deaths. Enraged, he personally went to Jingyou Mountain and began a massacre.
Bei Chen tried to stop him but was severely injured. Sensing danger to her clan, Ling Long told Bai Shuo before leaving to cherish her time with Fan Yue and live peacefully in Forget-Worry Valley. She then returned to Jingyou Mountain but was tragically killed by Rong Xian’s sword. Ling Long’s blood splashed into Rong Xian’s eyes, restoring his clarity and memories.
When he learned that Ling Long was pregnant, he was devastated to realize he had killed his wife and child with his own hands, plunging him into unbearable grief.
Episode 11 Recap
Because the child conceived through the union of the Eternal Race and Demon Race was naturally frail and difficult to preserve, Ling Long expended a great amount of her spiritual energy to protect the pregnancy. In the end, she succumbed to Rong Xian's sword. When Rong Xian learned the truth, he was overcome with grief and rage.
He picked up his sword and returned to Kunlun, slaughtering everyone, vowing to make the hypocritical Kunlun sect pay with their lives to atone for Ling Long and their unborn child. At the same time, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue discovered Ling Long's letter and rushed to the Fox Clan, but it was too late. Although Ling Long had passed away, the child in her womb still had a faint spark of life.
Bai Shuo speculated that saving the baby might be the key to breaking the cycle of resentment. With this in mind, Fan Yue used his spiritual power to defy fate, preserving the life of Rong Xian and Ling Long's child. Just as Rong Xian lost all reason and prepared to reduce the Kunlun Sect to ruins, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue suddenly appeared, holding the crying baby. The infant's cries made Rong Xian freeze in place.
When he saw the child wrapped in the swaddling cloth, he was momentarily dazed. Bai Shuo approached him with the baby, and through the child, she finally managed to restore his sanity. After leaving Kunlun with the baby in his arms, Rong Xian's millennium-old obsession and resentment dissolved, and everyone broke free from the realm of resentment. Outside the Tomb of the Anomalous, the seals on everyone were lifted.
Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, Bei Chen, and Mu Jiu reappeared, and the second Heartfire flew into Mu Jiu’s hands, causing dissatisfaction and protests among the Eternal and Demon Races. Mu Jiu vaguely remembered being protected by Tian Huo before entering the realm of resentment and expressed his willingness to give the Heartfire to her. However, this led to renewed hostility toward Tian Huo, with people exposing her anomalous identity and voicing even greater resentment.
Although the Demon Race feared Mu Jiu's aunt, Chang Mei, one of the three kings, the Yunxiao Sect of the Eternal Race had no such fear and pursued Mu Jiu, discontent over the Heartfire's ownership. Fortunately, Mu Jiu’s wit allowed her to escape them with ease. Due to Fan Yue’s reckless use of spiritual power in the realm of resentment to defy fate, his demonic energy was severely depleted.
Even so, he instructed Tian Huo and Cang Shan not to inform Bai Shuo. Zhong Zhao sent his junior sister to deliver a message to the Lanling Sect about the events in the anomalous city. However, the message was intercepted by Hua Lin, who deliberately led the Eternal and Demon Races to the Tomb of the Anomalous. Their true intention was to ensure that at the upcoming Burning Orchid Banquet in two days, none of the guests would return alive.
Meanwhile, Fan Yue's injuries worsened at the inn, and he soon fell unconscious. Seeing his condition, Tian Huo and Cang Shan had no choice but to summon Bai Shuo and explain the situation. Bai Shuo hurriedly used a second-grade pill she had crafted to save his life. Looking at Fan Yue lying on the bed, Bai Shuo felt a mix of emotions, realizing that he was not as cold and ruthless as he appeared.
The next morning, Fan Yue regained consciousness but had lost his memory. He left the inn on his own, alarming Bai Shuo, who quickly summoned Tian Huo and Cang Shan to search for him. While wandering the streets, Fan Yue narrowly avoided being struck by a falling piece of wood, thanks to Bai Shuo’s timely intervention. To her shock, she discovered his amnesia and decided to keep it a secret, telling him they were lovers.
The confused Fan Yue believed her and behaved completely differently from his former self, showing a strong dependence on Bai Shuo. Bai Shuo, enjoying the situation, gave him the nickname "Mu Mu. " To prevent others from discovering his amnesia, Bai Shuo taught him his past habits and behavior, which Fan Yue obediently imitated. When Zhong Zhao learned that Bai Shuo had spent the night in Fan Yue’s room, he hurried over to reprimand Fan Yue.
Bai Shuo had to explain the situation to Zhong Zhao. Tian Huo, being perceptive, noticed Fan Yue’s strange behavior and questioned Bai Shuo about her intentions. Bai Shuo admitted to his amnesia and stated that she was looking for a way to cure him. However, Hua Lin, learning of Fan Yue's injuries, decided to use the opportunity to assassinate him. Assassins later infiltrated the inn, attacking Fan Yue. To protect Bai Shuo, Fan Yue was injured again.
Fortunately, Tian Huo appeared in time to fend off the attackers and discovered that the King of Anomalous Beings had ordered the Master of Bright Moon Palace to die in the anomalous city. Following this incident, Bai Shuo, worried about Fan Yue's safety, reminded him to protect himself in the future. She then asked Tian Huo about the situation in the anomalous city, hoping she would reveal the truth.
Episode 12 Recap
The reopening of the Wutong Martial Banquet was originally a deal between Fan Yue and the King of the Exotic People. However, the sudden assassination attempt on Fan Yue by Hua Lin's men indicated a shift in circumstances. Bai Shuo, suspecting a change, approached Tian Huo to inquire about the events that had occurred seven years prior. Seeing Bai Shuo's sincerity, Tian Huo revealed everything without reservation.
It turned out that the title of King of the Exotic People was not a simple generational inheritance but rather dictated by the Exotic King Sword. Legend had it that the first King of the Exotic People discovered several pieces of divine meteorite iron in the East Sea and forged them into the Exotic King Sword. Using the sword's divine power, he created the Exotic City, giving his people a place to call home.
Although the sword was the lifeline of the city, its power was not inexhaustible—it required the king's blood every ten years to sustain its vitality. Hua Lin was born frail and initially unable to draw the Exotic King Sword. His ascension to the throne was due to the Mei family's assistance, as their lineage was entrusted with aiding the Hua family and defending the Exotic City. In this generation, General Mei had only one daughter, Mei Han.
The previous king made a deal with General Mei: Hua Lin would marry Mei Han as his crown princess, and the Mei family would sacrifice the general's spiritual energy to rebuild Hua Lin's frail body. With this, Hua Lin drew the Exotic King Sword and became the new king. Mei Han married him and gave birth to Tian Huo and Hua Yong. Unfortunately, the peace was short-lived.
Seven years ago, a famine struck, and a mysterious divine oracle accused Mei Han of being the cause of the disaster. The citizens demanded Mei Han's sacrifice to end the calamity, threatening to overthrow Hua Lin if he refused. Initially hesitant, Hua Lin hid Mei Han in a secret chamber, but Hua Yong inadvertently exposed her location, leading to Mei Han's death in the furnace.
This incident convinced Tian Huo that Hua Lin had sacrificed Mei Han to maintain his throne. Heartbroken, she tried to destroy the Exotic King Sword and the city with it but failed and was exiled. Meanwhile, Fan Yue awoke from a nightmare of his loved ones being murdered. Startled, he sought Bai Shuo for comfort, holding her tightly in his arms like a vulnerable child seeking solace. This softened Bai Shuo’s heart.
Listening to Fan Yue muttering names, Bai Shuo was reminded of the nameplates in the secret chamber, imagining the horrifying experiences that had shaped him into the Master of Bright Moon Palace. Tian Huo personally confronted Hua Lin in the Exotic King's palace. Just as she was about to attack, a monster appeared to shield Hua Lin and was injured in the process.
Hua Lin suddenly accused Tian Huo of causing the current chaos before retreating to the underground palace with the monster. Using his own blood to activate a formation, the creature lying on the stone bed transformed back into Hua Yong, leaving Tian Huo in shock.
At that moment, Hua Lin explained to Tian Huo that seven years ago, when she tried to destroy the Exotic King Sword, Hua Yong had shielded her from the sword's energy, even extracting his spiritual bone to save her. However, without the protection of the spiritual bone, Hua Yong succumbed to the sword's energy, mutating into a monster. By day, he appeared normal, but at night, he transformed. Hua Lin revealed that only Bai Shuo's Desireless Stone could save Hua Yong.
After Tian Huo left, Hua Yong regained his clarity and learned the truth about his monstrous transformation. However, unwilling to let his father make more mistakes, he tried to oppose Hua Lin’s plans. Yet Hua Lin remained determined, even preparing to sacrifice members of the Eternal and Demon Races to transform his son into a god. Elsewhere, Fu Ling activated an ancient barrier at the Exotic People's Tomb, sealing the city.
She then sought out Zhong Zhao to persuade him to surrender to Leng Quan but was captured by Tian Huo and brought back to the inn. While interrogating Fu Ling about Leng Quan Palace's schemes, Bai Shuo barged in, armed, seeking vengeance for her father. At a critical moment, a masked man rescued Fu Ling. The man was Wu Zhao, who had no loyalty to Hua Lin and had long planned to overthrow him and become king.
Bai Shuo missed her chance for revenge and sought comfort in Fan Yue's arms, gradually calming down. Though the group's understanding of Wu Zhao's identity remained unclear, they knew they had to attend the Wutong Martial Banquet. Only by attending could they achieve the vision revealed by the Desireless Stone and acquire the three Heartfires. Zhong Zhao once again urged Bai Shuo to leave the Exotic City, leading to an argument.
Their conflict was resolved by the innocence of Hu Er, bringing back memories of their childhood. The next day, Bai Shuo advised other disciples of the Eternal and Demon Races not to attend the banquet to avoid danger, but her warnings were ignored. Determined, Bai Shuo decided to go alone, and while Fan Yue insisted on accompanying her, he was refused by the other three.
Episode 13 Recap
Because Fan Yue insisted that Bai Shuo not face danger alone and insisted on accompanying her, Bai Shuo had no choice but to agree. Mu Jiu suddenly came to find Bai Shuo to thank her for her righteous rescue the night before. Since she also spared Fu Ling during that rescue, Mu Jiu felt both grateful and guilty.
As a token of appreciation, he gave Bai Shuo the second Heartfire and promised to help them investigate the underground palace in advance. Cang Shan noticed that the Master of Bright Moon Palace seemed happier after losing his memory and even thought it might not be a bad thing if things stayed this way. However, Tian Huo disagreed, saying that if Fan Yue did not bury his former, innocent self, he would never have survived until now.
Coincidentally, Fan Yue overheard their conversation and asked Cang Shan about his and Bai Shuo’s love story. Cang Shan was surprised and bluntly stated that there was never any romantic relationship between them. He also mentioned what happened in Ning'an City, which left Fan Yue feeling conflicted. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo prepared to attend the banquet that evening.
Zhong Zhao guessed that her determination to attend was to collect the thoughts necessary to activate the Desireless Stone and offered to help her. The other members of the Eternal and Demon Races also prepared to go to the palace. Despite knowing that the palace could be a trap, each had their own reasons for going and refused to back down.
On their way to the palace, Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, Tian Huo, and Cang Shan saw many citizens releasing sky lanterns in the square to make wishes. Since the Irregulars were abandoned by all races and had no gods to turn to, they wrote their wishes on the lanterns as a way to remind themselves to rely on their own efforts.
Following Fan Yue’s suggestion, he, Bai Shuo, Tian Huo, and Cang Shan each wrote their wishes and released the lanterns, carrying their hopes into the night sky. Taking this opportunity, Fan Yue told Bai Shuo that he had learned they were not lovers. However, he expressed that he both hoped he was not the version of himself who hurt her and wished to become a stronger Fan Yue capable of protecting her from harm.
As fireworks lit up the sky, Fan Yue apologized to Bai Shuo and confessed his feelings, leaving a parting kiss on the corner of her lips. Soon after, everyone gathered at the Irregular King's palace. Hua Lin appeared and announced that the winner of the Wutong Martial Banquet could take a spiritual elixir as their reward. He then declared his intention to open the Irregular City to the world after that night, allowing the Irregulars to reintegrate into society.
This statement drew ridicule and opposition from the Eternal and Demon Races. Hua Lin dismissed the reaction, claiming it was merely his personal opinion, and invited representatives of the three races to light the wutong branch together. This act gave birth to the third Heartfire. Since the Heartfires of the Wutong Tree are inherently connected, the third Heartfire was dim and needed the other two to awaken it.
Under pressure from the crowd, Bai Shuo reluctantly took out the two Heartfires she possessed. At that moment, Hua Lin suddenly activated a barrier and declared that the palace would become the grave for the Eternal and Demon Races. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu successfully sneaked into the underground palace to rescue Hua Yong but was intercepted and captured by Wu Zhao and his men.
Chaos broke out in the main hall as Tian Huo seized the three Heartfires amidst the commotion and handed them to Bai Shuo. Cang Shan and Tian Huo stayed behind to protect Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, and Zhong Zhao as they escaped the hall. The three made their way to the underground palace, where Fu Ling, with Wu Zhao's assistance, used her spiritual power within the Irregular City. The three were overpowered by Fu Ling and captured.
Elsewhere, Nan Wan and Bei Chen were also trying to escape but were caught again. Grateful to Bei Chen for saving her, Nan Wan came to understand that his arrogant and unruly demeanor masked his desperation to save his younger brother. Tian Huo created three fake Heartfires and lured Hua Lin to Mei Han's courtyard. There, she furiously criticized his god-making ritual, accusing him of bringing disaster upon Irregular City.
Hua Lin refuted her accusations and revealed a long-hidden truth: years ago, he and Mei Han had planned a fake death to stabilize public opinion. Hua Lin had given Mei Han a Fire-Avoidance Pearl and left an escape route under the furnace. However, the plan went awry when Wu Zhao, deceived by a sorcerer, replaced the real Fire-Avoidance Pearl with a fake, leading to Mei Han's untimely death.
Just as Hua Lin finished speaking, Wu Zhao appeared, shedding his pretense to reveal his ambition and strength. He admitted that Mei Han’s death had been orchestrated by him. This revelation allowed Tian Huo and Hua Lin to reconcile their years-long estrangement as father and daughter. Tragically, Hua Lin was gravely injured by Wu Zhao and died in Tian Huo's arms.
At the same time, in the underground palace, Fu Ling forced Bai Shuo to choose between saving Fan Yue or Zhong Zhao, leaving Bai Shuo with an agonizing decision.
Episode 14 Recap
Although both Fan Yue and Zhong Zhao were important to Bai Shuo, she knew that given Zhong Zhao’s current condition, he would find it difficult to break through the siege of the Palace of the Other King. Fan Yue, however, had just consumed the last pill and was likely to recover his memory that very night. If they could hold on until he regained his memory, there might be a chance to turn the tide and save everyone.
For this reason, Bai Shuo ultimately chose Fan Yue. Zhong Zhao felt disappointed, and Fu Ling, seeing this, mocked him and took the opportunity to shake his resolve. Wu Zhao brought Tian Huo to the underground palace, openly revealing his alliance with Cold Spring Palace. He used the three Heartfires to activate the “God Creation” formation. At that moment, Fan Yue began regaining his memory, while Hua Yong returned to his original form, showing no response to Wu Zhao’s summoning.
As Wu Zhao grew confused, Fu Ling suddenly stabbed him, claiming that the so-called “God Creation” formation was, in fact, a killing formation. Its purpose was to turn Hua Yong into a killing weapon, draw the Sword of the Other King, and take Bai Shuo’s Desireless Stone. As Hua Yong charged toward Bai Shuo with the Sword of the Other King, Fan Yue activated the Seven-Star Soul Burning Seal and unleashed his demon power to stop Hua Yong.
Bai Shuo noticed the seven stars glowing on Fan Yue’s chest, which quickly began absorbing the “killing” thoughts from the formation. As a result, the Other City began to shake, endangering the lives of its inhabitants. Zhong Zhao was pinned under falling rocks, but Fu Ling used her protective demon flower to shield his heart, then took him out of the city.
To prevent the collapse of the underground palace, Bai Shuo reinserted the Sword of the Other King into its pedestal. The sword’s spirit transformed into a ring and chose Bai Shuo as its master, calming the city’s turmoil. However, due to the sword’s powerful aura, Bai Shuo’s mortal body couldn’t withstand it. Fan Yue rushed forward to shield her from the sword’s energy, causing him to fall into a coma.
Now that Rong Xian’s formation pillar had been removed and the city’s barrier was lifted, even Nan Wan returned with the Wutong Elixir for her younger brother. People began leaving one after another. Bai Shuo wanted to rescue Zhong Zhao, but Tian Huo reassured her that disciples from the Lanling Sect had already been informed, and his safety was in good hands. Hua Yong later visited the inn to reconcile with his sister Tian Huo.
The siblings completely resolved their misunderstandings. When asked about his plans, Hua Yong said that the Other City was in ruins and needed rebuilding. He wanted to rebuild it with his clan and invited Bai Shuo to become the King of the Others, but she politely declined, believing Hua Yong was better suited for the role. Back at the Unbridled Pavilion, Fan Yue remained unconscious, suffering immense pain from the effects of the Seven-Star Soul Burning Seal.
Seeing Fan Yue coughing up blood, Bai Shuo’s heart ached. She anxiously questioned Tian Huo, finally learning about the origin of the seal. Long ago, Fan Yue’s clan faced a disaster, leaving him as the sole survivor. To seek revenge, he practiced various demon arts, leading to their backlash. Now, only two stars in the seal were still lit, meaning he had only two chances left. Once all seven stars went out, his soul would be obliterated. Bai Shuo finally understood.
She had previously thought that Tian Huo and Cang Shan were seeking the Desireless Stone for other purposes, but she now realized it was to save Fan Yue’s life. Tian Huo shared how she had almost died at the hands of bandits but was saved by Fan Yue. Despite his fearsome reputation, the true Master of Bright Moon Palace was compassionate, protecting the weaker demons.
People followed Fan Yue not because of his strength but because of his empathy for all living beings. At that moment, Bai Shuo realized what kind of person Fan Yue was and resolved to gather the Five Desires to save him. Meanwhile, the Cold Spring Palace members reviewed the events in the Other City. Chen Ye proposed creating demonic insects, which required a significant amount of demon marrow, spiritual veins, and human lives.
Fu Ling had brought Zhong Zhao back from the Other City and imprisoned him in a secret chamber. When Zhong Zhao learned that Fu Ling had saved him with her protective demon flower, he didn’t hesitate to draw a dagger and carve the flower out of himself, vowing never to ally with her. The Lanling Sect discussed rescuing Zhong Zhao.
Initially, they wanted to save him, but later, they saw this as an opportunity to have him infiltrate the Cold Spring Palace. Elsewhere, Bai Shuo waited for Fan Yue to wake up and asked him about the events in the Other City.
Fan Yue told her there was no need to feel guilty—he had saved her not only to protect her but also to prevent the Other King’s Sword from being destroyed, as that would have led to the city’s complete ruin and the deaths of everyone. However, Bai Shuo saw through his excuse and pressed him about his memories of the city. Fan Yue admitted he remembered everything, including Mu Mu.
Meanwhile, Mu Jiu, who had fallen in love with Tian Huo at first sight in the Other City, had followed her all the way to the Unbridled Pavilion. Despite Tian Huo’s repeated rejections, he insisted on staying at the pavilion, pestering her endlessly. At Tian Huo’s suggestion, Cang Shan tied Mu Jiu up, but he remained undeterred, boldly proclaiming that he would pursue her even in death. In the end, Fan Yue allowed Mu Jiu to stay and assigned him to the most grueling tasks.
Episode 15 Recap
During her free time, Bai Shuo wrote letters to Lao Gui, sharing her recent experiences and revealing that Fan Yue had the Seven-Star Soul-Burning Seal in his body, with only two stars remaining, endangering his life. She sought Lao Gui's help to find a solution. Bai Shuo often worked tirelessly to craft pills to counter the seal, often passing out from exhaustion. Luckily, Fan Yue would find her in time and carry her back to her room.
However, in her sleep, she called out "Mu Mu," leading Fan Yue to misunderstand and feel jealous. The next morning, Bai Shuo personally brought pills to Fan Yue, but he confronted her about a previous kiss. Bai Shuo explained that Mu Mu's kiss was a farewell gesture, but Fan Yue refused to listen, pulling her into his arms and kissing her to prove he was different from Mu Mu.
Bai Shuo reminded him that Mu Mu was his past self, and they were always one and the same. In Cold Spring Palace’s dungeon, Jin Yao questioned the purpose of the God-Creation technique. To uncover its true intent, he persuaded Zhong Zhao to infiltrate Cold Spring as a spy to gather information, directly targeting Zhen Yu's schemes. Zhong Zhao, disheartened that his master had come not to rescue him but to send him into danger, reluctantly agreed.
Considering Bai Shuo, Jin Yao promised Zhong Zhao that if the two were ever to cross swords, he would ensure Bai Shuo learned the truth. During a meal, Bai Shuo suddenly had a nosebleed, drawing Fan Yue's attention. Upon learning that this had been happening since she returned from the Strange City, Fan Yue suspected it was related to the Ring of the Strange King. Bai Shuo admitted she had felt a new power but was unable to harness it.
Fan Yue contacted Lao Gui to inquire about Bai Shuo’s condition. Lao Gui divined that Bai Shuo’s Human Race body could not withstand divine power. As the Desireless Stone gathered more "wills," its divine power grew. When all five wills were collected, Bai Shuo's body would likely be destroyed. Shocked and enraged, Fan Yue demanded Lao Gui find a solution.
Lao Gui suggested acquiring the Fox Clan's treasure, the Weak Water Stone, which could provide endless spiritual energy to suppress the backlash from the Desireless Stone. Bai Shuo continued crafting pills by the furnace when Tian Huo approached her for a conversation. Knowing Bai Shuo was Fan Yue's only vulnerability, Tian Huo warned her never to betray him. However, after learning the truth about Bai Shuo’s condition, Fan Yue became cold and distant, leaving Bai Shuo confused.
When she sought answers from her master, Fan Yue shattered the tortoiseshell in anger. Meanwhile, Fu Ling forced Zhong Zhao to kill immortals in an attempt to corrupt him into a demon. Zhong Zhao refused, but when Fu Ling killed two people, he had no choice but to kill one to save the other two. However, Fu Ling killed the remaining two anyway, marveling at how useful Chen Ye’s demonic worms were.
Tormented, Zhong Zhao remembered his master’s instructions and endured his grief, swearing loyalty to Cold Spring Palace. Fan Yue shared Bai Shuo's condition with Tian Huo, who then sought information about the Weak Water Stone from Mu Jiu. This led to an encounter with the Fox Clan elder Chang Sheng, and Tian Huo followed Mu Jiu to the Fox Clan.
Hearing of Tian Huo’s disappearance, Fan Yue deduced her intention and decided to head to the Fox Clan himself, leaving Bai Shuo behind at the Unbridled Pavilion. In the Quiet Mountain, Chang Mei, the Fox Clan leader, demanded Mu Jiu take the position of Mountain Lord. However, Mu Jiu refused, desiring freedom. Chang Mei used Tian Huo’s life as leverage. Mu Jiu admitted he liked Tian Huo but also cherished his free-spirited life.
Chang Mei proposed a wager: if Mu Jiu could convince Tian Huo to marry him within three days, he would grant Mu Jiu his freedom. Lao Gui visited the Unbridled Pavilion to check on Bai Shuo. Noticing her feelings for Fan Yue, he encouraged her to go to the Fox Clan to find him.
Bai Shuo, knowing that Chang Mei was one of the three Demon Kings, feared that if Fan Yue truly clashed with the Fox Clan, he would be at a disadvantage. She hurriedly made her way to Quiet Mountain. At this time, Fan Yue and Cang Shan split up, with Cang Shan investigating the Weak Water Stone while Fan Yue met with Chang Mei to negotiate. He agreed to give Mu Jiu three days but demanded the Weak Water Stone in return.
Episode 16 Recap
Upon hearing Fan Yue’s request, Chang Mei readily agreed to hand over the Weak Water Stone, a response that surprised him with its ease. At that moment, Bai Shuo suddenly arrived and noticed that Chang Mei’s earrings looked familiar. Chang Mei, in turn, sensed the subtle relationship between Bai Shuo and Fan Yue. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu confessed his feelings to Tian Huo but was rejected.
Tian Huo told him that gratitude should not be mistaken for love and asked him not to bring it up again. Fan Yue, aware of the many dangers in the Fox Clan, insisted that Bai Shuo leave, but Bai Shuo wanted him to be honest with her. This led to a heated argument between them. Unbeknownst to them, the Fox Clan’s Sacred Tree of Emotions was on the brink of withering, and Chang Mei had set her sights on Fan Yue.
Through the earrings, Bai Shuo deduced that Chang Mei might be the younger sister of Ling Long, the Fox Clan’s saintess, whose name was A Wu. Zhong Zhao, under Fu Ling’s orders, killed immortals and demons and uncovered Cold Spring Palace’s demonic worm-crafting activities. He sent a message to the Lanling Sect, prompting Jin Yao to instruct all the Eternal Race sects to strengthen their patrols.
Jin Yao also ordered Jing Lei to lead disciples to the Human Race cities under Lanling’s jurisdiction to ensure their safety from Cold Spring Palace. Tian Huo found it odd that Chang Mei so easily agreed to hand over the Weak Water Stone and reported her suspicions to Fan Yue. She noted that since entering Quiet Mountain, things had felt strange.
While it wasn’t unusual for Chang Mei to want Mu Jiu to inherit the position of Mountain Lord, the three-day deadline seemed deliberate, raising concerns about a significant event happening in three days. Fan Yue urged Tian Huo to act cautiously. Tian Huo noticed that Fan Yue’s personality had softened, attributing the change to Bai Shuo. Meanwhile, Cang Shan, searching for the Weak Water Stone in the Fox Clan’s territory, fell into a hallucination and was swallowed by a massive tree.
Bai Shuo shared her new discovery with Fan Yue, noting that in Rong Xian’s Grievance Realm, Fan Yue had played the role of A Qi, Chang Mei’s guard, while Bei Chen played another guard, Xiao Ba. Strangely, both guards had since vanished. Just as Fan Yue was about to share the truth about the Weak Water Stone with Bai Shuo, she suddenly triggered a prophetic vision and fainted.
Soon after, Fan Yue, upon discovering Cang Shan’s disappearance, confronted Chang Mei and demanded answers. He questioned her insistence on delaying the handover of the Weak Water Stone for two more days, leaving Chang Mei momentarily speechless. Fu Ling brought Zhong Zhao to meet Zhen Yu, who ordered Zhong Zhao to bring Bai Shuo back to prove his loyalty. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu prepared various medicines for Tian Huo and took the opportunity to confess his feelings sincerely.
Tian Huo, moved, agreed to a fake marriage with Mu Jiu to help him leave the Fox Clan, with the promise to reconsider their relationship later. Chang Mei went alone to the Sacred Tree of Emotions, relocating the unconscious Cang Shan to another location to lead Fan Yue to a discovery. When Cang Shan awoke, he recounted his attack but couldn’t remember the details.
However, the fact that a member of the Stone Race could be injured caught Fan Yue’s attention. He suspected that the truth behind the attack was linked to a secret Chang Mei refused to reveal. Bai Shuo suddenly woke up and revealed that the Desireless Stone had shown her a vision. The location was beneath a large tree in the Fox Clan’s territory, where the tree devoured Fan Yue.
Hearing this, Fan Yue recalled Chang Wu blocking him from proceeding further into the forest and deduced that the strange tree might be deeper within the woods. He instructed Cang Shan to escort Bai Shuo back to Ning’an City, but she refused. Pressing him for answers, Bai Shuo learned the truth about Fan Yue’s condition, and he vowed he would never let her die. Elder Chang Sheng urged Chang Mei to resolve the Sacred Tree crisis quickly.
Chang Mei promised that even without the Weak Water Stone, the Sacred Tree would not fall under her watch. Zhong Zhao followed members of the Fox Clan in Quiet Mountain, while Fu Ling reminded him of Zhen Yu’s orders. She warned him that if he still harbored his former intentions, his only outcome would be death. Cang Shan prepared to take Bai Shuo away, but Bai Shuo was determined to stay and protect Fan Yue.
She tricked Cang Shan, rendering him immobile, and set out to find Fan Yue. On her way, she encountered Zhong Zhao. Fan Yue and Tian Huo split up to search for the Sacred Tree, and Fan Yue happened to witness Zhong Zhao holding Bai Shuo. Consumed with jealousy, he confronted Zhong Zhao, leading to an argument. After Zhong Zhao left, Fan Yue demanded an explanation from Bai Shuo.
Meanwhile, Fu Ling instructed Zhong Zhao to capture Bai Shuo that night, assuring him she would distract Fan Yue. However, Zhong Zhao, intent on protecting Bai Shuo, suggested delaying the plan under the pretense of concern for Fu Ling’s safety. He argued that their priority should be creating discord between Bai Shuo and Fan Yue.
Episode 17 Recap
When Zhong Zhao unexpectedly appeared, Fan Yue became jealous and said some harsh words, leading to an argument with Bai Shuo. Fan Yue even declared that once the Desireless Stone was handed over to him, the two of them would completely sever their ties. Bai Shuo was deeply shocked by his words, and they parted on bad terms. Meanwhile, Tian Huo sought information from Mu Jiu about a tree capable of devouring people.
Mu Jiu had never heard of such a tree and brought her to the Emotion Tree. Despite his sincere confession, the tree showed no reaction. Shortly after Mu Jiu and Tian Huo left, Fu Ling also approached the Emotion Tree. Suddenly, she experienced an illusion of Zhong Zhao treating her gently. In the next moment, the tree attacked her with its vines. Fortunately, Fu Ling reacted quickly and dodged, though she sustained minor injuries.
She speculated that the tree only targeted outsiders. Chang Mei took the initiative to approach Bai Shuo and handed wedding attire to Tian Huo. Bai Shuo tried to console Chang Mei with insights from the events in the Resentful Realm, but Chang Mei was unresponsive. Bai Shuo noticed the corroded wound on Chang Mei's hand and began to suspect that Cang Shan's earlier attack might be related to her.
She discreetly tested Elder Chang Sheng, confirming he was not A Qi from a thousand years ago. For Bai Shuo, several mysteries remained unresolved, such as the whereabouts of A Qi and Xiao Ba, and the fact that Chang Mei claimed she had no romantic connections. However, it was clear she had developed mutual feelings with A Qi in the past, forming a bond.
For Fan Yue's sake, Bai Shuo advised Cang Shan to keep the matter private for now and observe further developments. Fan Yue listened to Tian Huo's report and prepared to investigate the Emotion Tree that night. Tian Huo, perceiving Fan Yue's affection for Bai Shuo, advised him to prioritize their mutual well-being and protect himself. Fan Yue understood and resolved to clarify things with Bai Shuo after the matter was settled.
Similarly, Fan Yue noticed Tian Huo's feelings for Mu Jiu and expressed his hope that Tian Huo could let go of her emotional burdens and find a lifelong companion. He also emphasized the deep friendship among himself, Tian Huo, and Cang Shan after years of camaraderie. That night, Fu Ling planned to lure Fan Yue to the Emotion Tree and have Zhong Zhao abduct Bai Shuo.
Meanwhile, Chang Mei learned from Mu Jiu that Fan Yue had defied fate in the Resentful Realm to save Ling Long's child, leaving her astonished. She instructed Mu Jiu to ensure no one from Bright Moon Palace attended the wedding before it took place. Cang Shan, furious upon hearing about Tian Huo and Mu Jiu's marriage, confronted Mu Jiu. Tian Huo clarified it was a fake marriage, and Mu Jiu discerned Cang Shan's feelings.
Later, Fu Ling guided Fan Yue to the Emotion Tree, while Zhong Zhao attempted to abduct Bai Shuo. Zhong Zhao claimed that Fan Yue could no longer control her, leaving Bai Shuo alarmed. Upon hearing that Fan Yue had gone to the Emotion Tree, Bai Shuo adamantly refused to leave. When news broke that members of the Demon Race had been attacked by Fu Ling, who had cut off their tails, Chang Mei grew suspicious.
Bai Shuo hurried to Chang Mei and persuaded her to take her to the Emotion Tree. Meanwhile, Fan Yue, noticing something strange about the tree, fell into an illusion and was willingly absorbed. As Fu Ling prepared to destroy the tree and kill Fan Yue, Chang Mei arrived with Bai Shuo, forcing Fu Ling to flee. Bai Shuo saw Fan Yue being consumed by the Emotion Tree and tried to rescue him. Her blood flowed into the tree, awakening him.
Fan Yue broke free from the tree's bindings while holding Bai Shuo. A spirit emerged to attack, but Bai Shuo dispersed it. Chang Mei pursued Fu Ling, injuring her severely, but Zhong Zhao appeared and rescued Fu Ling. Afterward, Chang Mei noticed a faint vitality returning to the Emotion Tree and speculated it was due to the power of the Desireless Stone. Similarly, Fan Yue deduced that the spirit attacking them was the tree spirit.
He explained that while inside the tree, he sensed a corpse beneath its roots emanating faint spiritual energy. The corpse had likely been a great demon in life, and the tree, having long since declined, had relied on devouring living beings for spiritual energy to survive. Bai Shuo concluded she had uncovered the spirit's true identity. Fu Ling, seeing Zhong Zhao injured while protecting her, personally tended to his wounds.
She eagerly sought his feelings, but Zhong Zhao resolutely declared that his heart belonged to Bai Shuo, leaving Fu Ling heartbroken. Chang Mei suddenly saw a figure resembling A Qi and chased after it to the Emotion Tree, only to find Fan Yue in disguise. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo confronted Chang Wu alone and identified him as Xiao Ba, to which Chang Wu gladly confessed.
Episode 18 Recap
Chang Mei arrived at the Emotion Tree, only to discover that it was actually Fan Yue disguised as A Qi. She then truthfully recounted the events of the past. After the death of the holy maiden, Ling Long, Chang Mei replaced her sister as the master of Jingyou Mountain. However, 800 years ago, the Desireless Stone was lost, and the Emotion Tree, which relied on spiritual energy to survive, began to wither.
To preserve the tree’s vitality and silence the criticism from her tribe, Chang Mei decided to sacrifice herself to the tree. A Qi, deeply in love with Chang Mei, couldn’t bear to see her sacrifice herself and voluntarily offered his own life to sustain the tree. Chang Wu explained that after A Qi's death, the Emotion Tree indeed flourished briefly.
However, several centuries later, they realized the tree's spiritual energy was finite and eventually depleted, causing the tree to begin consuming humans. Initially, no abnormalities were noticed. However, when some visitors from other races inadvertently passed by the tree and were devoured, the truth became apparent. A Qi's corpse lay beneath the Emotion Tree. Loyal to both the Fox Tribe and Chang Mei, A Qi would never harm his people, but outsiders naturally became victims.
Those approaching the tree would be enticed by its illusions, seeing visions of their desires and walking willingly to their deaths. Even so, Xiao Ba believed there was more to this mystery, as it was unlikely to have been A Qi’s intention. He pleaded with Bai Shuo to investigate further and uncover the truth, which might release A Qi’s lingering regrets.
At the same time, Chang Mei hoped Bai Shuo could use her blood to summon A Qi’s spirit, but Fan Yue firmly opposed this idea. Reflecting on A Qi’s dying wishes, Bai Shuo decided to help. Meanwhile, Cang Shan secretly hid the wedding dress to prevent Tian Huo’s marriage. Tian Huo admitted she truly liked Mu Jiu but assured Cang Shan their bond was only friendship.
Fan Yue, frustrated by Bai Shuo’s willingness to risk herself for Chang Mei, dragged her back. Bai Shuo, however, insisted on taking this opportunity to uncover the truth. She explained that avoiding challenges out of fear would never lead to growth. Convinced by her determination and trust, Fan Yue reluctantly agreed. Xiao Ba, aware of Chang Mei’s plans, feared that Bai Shuo’s blood would only empower the evil within the Emotion Tree, jeopardizing the entire Fox Tribe.
Although the Desireless Stone was a sacred artifact of the tribe, Chang Mei realized that the stone held real divine power. She sought to use its strength to resolve the Emotion Tree’s crisis, ensuring its vitality for millennia to come. Initially, Bai Shuo planned to fulfill Chang Mei’s request after the wedding. Unexpectedly, Chang Mei insisted on doing it that very night, raising Bai Shuo’s suspicions.
She probed Mu Jiu about his birth date, intuitively sensing that the timing of the wedding had a hidden purpose. Bai Shuo also noticed Cang Shan’s feelings for Tian Huo and, while offering comfort, urged him to protect her. Before the wedding, Mu Jiu, guarded by the elders, suspected the wedding was a cover for his succession as the mountain master. Determined, he escaped to find Tian Huo, only to discover that Chang Mei had cursed her.
Furious, Mu Jiu confronted Chang Mei, and the two quarreled. Chang Mei warned Tian Huo not to mention the Desireless Stone again and used Tian Huo’s life to coerce Mu Jiu into accepting the mountain master position. Elsewhere, Xiao Ba found an excuse to send Fan Yue away to help lift Tian Huo’s curse. However, Fan Yue also fell victim to the curse. As Mu Jiu assumed the mountain master role, dissent arose among the tribe.
Many objected, given his lack of familial ties to the Fox Tribe, being merely an adopted nephew of Chang Mei centuries ago. Surprisingly, Chang Sheng strongly supported Mu Jiu and threatened to kill anyone who opposed him. At that moment, Cang Shan appeared and assisted Mu Jiu in escaping. Bai Shuo, following Chang Mei to the Emotion Tree, questioned why she was so focused on Mu Jiu and why he was to inherit the mountain master role.
Through deduction, Bai Shuo revealed Mu Jiu’s true identity as the son of Rong Xian and Ling Long. Chang Mei, fearing the curse and resentment lingering from Ling Long’s death would harm Mu Jiu, had gone to great lengths to conceal the truth. Chang Mei selected this day for Mu Jiu’s succession because it was Ling Long’s death anniversary. She intended to restore everything that belonged to Ling Long.
Bai Shuo’s deduction angered Chang Mei, who bound her to the Emotion Tree as a blood sacrifice. Fu Ling witnessed this and prepared to intervene. However, Zhong Zhao used an evil parasite to knock Fu Ling unconscious, deciding to act alone.
Episode 19 Recap
The Desireless Stone quickly displayed its miraculous power as the Withering Tree began to regain vitality under Bai Shuo's blood. A Qi’s figure appeared, and just as Chang Mei approached for a "reunion," Fan Yue intervened to save Bai Shuo. This caused A Qi to dissipate, leaving Chang Mei in pain once again. Mu Jiu hurriedly sought out Tian Huo and found that she was freed from the curse.
It turned out Fan Yue had not been ensnared by the spell, as Bai Shuo suspected. Fan Yue revealed that Xiao Ba had deliberately stalled him. Despite this, Fan Yue didn’t harm Xiao Ba, recognizing that he wasn’t evil. In return, Xiao Ba promised to accompany Fan Yue to the Withering Tree to uncover the truth of the past.
Meanwhile, Tian Huo, deeply touched by Mu Jiu's willingness to inherit the title of Mountain Master to save her, embraced him tightly. Bai Shuo suspected foul play in A Qi’s death. She argued that if A Qi had willingly sacrificed himself for the Fox Clan, his soul wouldn’t have lingered for a thousand years—unless he had been harmed by Chang Mei. Enraged by the accusation, Chang Mei finally admitted the truth under pressure.
It was revealed that while Mu Jiu’s birth was possible thanks to Fan Yue defying the natural order, Mu Jiu was born weak and remained as fragile as an infant for two centuries. In desperation, Chang Mei secretly embedded the Weak Water Stone into Mu Jiu’s body, which led to the Withering Tree's decline. When A Qi urged Chang Mei to return the Weak Water Stone, she doubted his intentions and accused him unjustly.
In the end, A Qi sacrificed himself to nourish the Withering Tree, saving Chang Mei and the entire Jingyou Mountain Fox Clan. After hearing Chang Mei’s confession, Bai Shuo realized that the Withering Tree’s consumption of people wasn’t due to A Qi’s resentment but Chang Mei’s guilt, which had manifested as a grudge. Meanwhile, Xi Xi removed the evil parasite from Fu Ling, who began to recall fragmented memories.
These memories seemed to be from her past, showing two young girls playing together, but the images were fleeting and unclear. After calming herself, Fu Ling decided to confront Zhong Zhao directly, even if his feelings for her had faded—she resolved to live according to her heart, at least once. Bai Shuo comforted Chang Mei, urging her to let go of her self-reproach. She explained that A Qi’s sacrifice was an act of love to fulfill Chang Mei’s wishes.
If Chang Mei allowed her guilt to imprison her, it would truly betray A Qi’s sacrifice. Xiao Ba also encouraged Chang Mei to regain her strength. In an act of determination, Xiao Ba vowed to protect Mu Jiu and the Weak Water Stone, following his brother’s example by offering himself to the Withering Tree. Fan Yue, deeply moved by these events, walked back with Bai Shuo.
Bai Shuo worried that more trouble might arise that night, but Fan Yue, recalling her words, reassured her that true love wouldn’t lead to resentment, only mutual redemption. In the next moment, Fan Yue kissed Bai Shuo. However, Bai Shuo suddenly noticed Zhong Zhao drawing his sword to attack, and she was injured while shielding Fan Yue. Furious, she accused Zhong Zhao of betrayal, declaring him an ally of Lengquan Palace. Heartbroken, she left with Fan Yue.
Meanwhile, Fu Ling realized it would be challenging to deal with both Fan Yue and Chang Mei. She released her demonic energy, causing the Withering Tree to wither again, then assassinated Chang Sheng and framed Chang Mei and the Bright Moon Palace. As expected, the Fox Clan erupted in anger and demanded an explanation from Chang Mei.
Disheartened by the clan's infighting, Chang Mei agreed to sacrifice herself to restore the tree but ridiculed the Fox Clan for seeking scapegoats instead of unity. She revealed that their resentment wasn’t truly against Ling Long but an excuse to place blame when calamity struck. When Bai Shuo learned of Chang Mei’s decision to sacrifice herself, she was shocked and blamed herself for dragging her into this.
After changing into his wedding robes, Tian Huo handed the ceremonial outfit to Mu Jiu. When Mu Jiu went to find Chang Mei, he overheard the clan gossiping about her impending sacrifice. Tian Huo, sensing Mu Jiu’s turmoil, revealed his true identity and the reasons behind everything. Stunned, Mu Jiu secretly placed a curse in the tea he offered to Chang Mei and resolved to shoulder the responsibility himself.
As Mu Jiu’s life force had fully merged with the Weak Water Stone, Fan Yue realized that extracting it to sustain the Withering Tree would cost Mu Jiu his life. Bai Shuo, determined to help the Fox Clan resolve the Withering Tree crisis, insisted on continuing her mission despite Fan Yue’s concerns for her health. She was resolute in gathering all Five Thoughts for Fan Yue. At the same time, Chen Ye infiltrated Ning’an City and attempted to use parasites to attack Bai Yu but was thwarted by Jing Lei.
Episode 20 Recap
Zhen Yu saved Chen Ye just in time and brought him back to Lengquan Palace. Chen Ye suspected that Jing Lei and the others had discovered his whereabouts and identity because of a mole. All signs pointed to Zhong Zhao. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao found Bai Shuo again, confessing the real reason he joined Lengquan Palace and apologizing, while Fu Ling resolved to kill Bai Shuo herself.
After hearing Zhong Zhao's plan and motives, Bai Shuo tried to persuade him not to return to Lengquan Palace and instead go to Lanling Sect, where Jin Yao could protect him. However, Zhong Zhao wanted Bai Shuo to leave with him and didn’t understand why she insisted on staying with Fan Yue. Bai Shuo admitted her feelings for Fan Yue, saying that Zhong Zhao should follow his own path.
At the same time, Mu Jiu sought out Fan Yue to make a deal. He offered to surrender the Weak Water Stone to save Bai Shuo but begged Fan Yue to protect the Fox Clan in the future. Initially, Fan Yue refused, knowing that removing the Weak Water Stone from Mu Jiu’s body would endanger his life. However, after Mu Jiu’s persistent pleas, Fan Yue eventually agreed.
Because Chen Ye had left behind an evil parasite that was discovered by the Lanling Sect, Jin Yao and the others feared the parasite's potential harm. They immediately sent a message to Zhong Zhao, urging him to stop the parasite before it caused chaos. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu went to see Tian Huo, giving her a small fox doll made from his tail fur as a token of apology and farewell. He promised not to leave the Fox Clan.
Tian Huo was angry that Mu Jiu was sacrificing his freedom and their relationship for the clan, suppressing her sadness while vowing to live freely without him. That night, Mu Jiu met Fan Yue under the Withering Tree and handed him a keepsake bead, asking him to pass it on to Bai Shuo. Once Fan Yue confirmed that Mu Jiu had made up his mind, he activated the Withering Tree to extract the Weak Water Stone from Mu Jiu’s body.
This left Mu Jiu critically weak, with only a short time to live. He used his remaining strength to see Tian Huo one last time. Bai Shuo, using the Desireless Stone, saw a vision of Mu Jiu in danger and rushed toward the Withering Tree. On her way, she was ambushed by Fu Ling. Fu Ling intended to kill Bai Shuo to sever her own feelings for Zhong Zhao.
Bai Shuo fought back desperately, and Fu Ling noticed that Bai Shuo’s short dagger matched a memory fragment she had seen before. She questioned Bai Shuo about the dagger’s origin, but Bai Shuo refused to answer. Enraged, Fu Ling drew her bow and repeatedly shot arrows at Bai Shuo’s legs, forcing her to crawl forward. Despite being gravely injured, Bai Shuo continued to resist. Her unwavering determination activated the Alien King Ring, transforming it into the Alien King Sword.
Zhong Zhao intervened to shield Fu Ling from the sword's energy, but a fleeting black mark on his forehead caught Fu Ling’s attention. Fan Yue arrived just in time to catch Bai Shuo as she collapsed. Meanwhile, with his last breath, Mu Jiu tightly embraced Tian Huo and said goodbye. Through tears, he asked how she would handle life’s challenges without him by her side. Tian Huo, also crying, tried to respond with indifference to sever their bond.
In the end, they parted ways. Mu Jiu dissipated into spiritual energy, reviving the Withering Tree. When Tian Huo turned around, he had vanished without a trace, leaving only the small fox doll on the grass. Fan Yue channeled the Weak Water Stone’s energy into Bai Shuo, restoring her health. The Love Thought emerged from the Withering Tree and entered Bai Shuo’s body, completing the third of the Five Thoughts needed for the Desireless Stone.
When Bai Shuo learned that Mu Jiu had sacrificed himself for the tree, she was overwhelmed with grief. Seeing Mu Jiu’s recorded image encouraging her to continue fighting her destiny, she broke down in tears. Tian Huo, finally understanding why Mu Jiu stayed with the Fox Clan, went to the Withering Tree to mourn, leaning against it as she wept. Fu Ling tended to Zhong Zhao’s injuries and asked why he saved her.
Zhong Zhao said it was to repay her for saving his life before. As she looked at Zhong Zhao’s unmarked forehead, she remembered the fleeting mark she had seen earlier and subtly probed if he had noticed anything unusual. Zhong Zhao was puzzled, but their relationship seemed to improve slightly.
Episode 21 Recap
Fu Ling confirmed the existence of the mark but chose not to reveal it. Seeing Bai Shuo’s short dagger, she showed mercy and refrained from delivering a fatal blow. After returning to the Unbridled Pavilion, Bai Shuo threw herself into swordsmanship training, believing that she bore some responsibility for Mu Jiu’s death. She wanted to become stronger to protect those around her.
Tian Huo comforted her, saying that Mu Jiu’s sacrifice was for everyone, without expecting anything in return and with no resentment. Chang Mei placed three small fox figurines under the Withering Tree, representing A Qi, Xiao Ba, and Mu Jiu. Reflecting on past events, Chang Mei realized many truths. Ling Long had once advised her never to return to the Fox Clan and to live freely as A Wu.
However, Chang Mei understood that true freedom was not just in one’s body but in one’s heart. After letting go of the grudges of a thousand years, she willingly chose to stay with the Fox Clan, tending to the Withering Tree and remaining with the ones she cared about. When Tian Huo shared this with Bai Shuo, she encouraged Bai Shuo and Fan Yue to start anew. Bai Shuo gradually let go of her burdens.
Meanwhile, Cang Shan tried to cheer up Tian Huo, saying he was fulfilling Mu Jiu’s final wish. Touched by his words, Tian Huo tearfully told Cang Shan she would slowly come to terms with Mu Jiu’s departure. Fan Yue finally took Bai Shuo to the secret chamber in Bright Moon Palace and shared the story of his tragic past. As a child, Fan Yue went herb-picking on a mountain and lost his memory.
Upon awakening, he learned that he was the grandson of Gu Shang, the patriarch of the Bai Ze Clan, and had a younger brother named Qi Feng. Fan Yue had happily integrated into the Bai Ze Clan, living a simple and joyful life, until the Tiger Clan invaded. They trapped the Bai Ze Clan, demanding they hand over a child with purple eyes.
To protect the clan, Gu Shang had no choice but to surrender Qi Feng, the child with purple eyes. However, even after obtaining the child, the Tiger Clan mercilessly slaughtered the Bai Ze people. Gu Shang cast a spell to save Fan Yue, transferring all his spiritual energy to him in his final moments and instructing him to survive at all costs. Driven by vengeance, Fan Yue trained relentlessly in demonic arts, leaving him with the Seven-Star Burning Soul Mark.
Yet, when he sought revenge, he found the Tiger Clan already destroyed, and Qi Feng’s whereabouts unknown. Fan Yue showed Bai Shuo the nameplates of his grandfather, Gu Shang, and his brother, Qi Feng. Bai Shuo promised to stay by his side forever, and the two confirmed their love for each other. At Lengquan Palace, Zhen Yu was furious over Fu Ling’s repeated failures. When Zhong Zhao spoke up for Fu Ling, Chen Ye accused him of being the mole.
After Zhen Yu dismissed Zhong Zhao and Chen Ye, he forced Fu Ling to take a Heart-Eating Pill to ensure her loyalty. The poison required regular antidotes, or it would be fatal. Without hesitation, Fu Ling obeyed. Fan Yue personally cooked exquisite desserts for Bai Shuo, bringing her great joy. However, Bai Shuo couldn’t help but recall her sister, Bai Xi.
Although Bai Xi could now summon the Alien King Sword effortlessly, Bai Shuo still carried the birthday gift—a short dagger—that Bai Xi had given her. Seeing this, Fan Yue comforted her gently. Soon, Bai Shuo discovered she had developed her own spiritual power. Fan Yue began teaching her a finishing move to maximize the Alien King Sword’s power. He explained that if she faced a stronger opponent, she could use it for a quick, unexpected strike.
Grateful, Bai Shuo kissed Fan Yue. Not wanting to let the moment end, Fan Yue pulled her into his arms and kissed her deeply. In the cold underground palace of Lengquan, Fu Ling endured torment and suffering. Unable to bear it, Xi Xi pleaded with Zhong Zhao to save her, recounting all of Fu Ling’s sacrifices. Zhong Zhao feigned indifference and refused to intervene.
Meanwhile, Chen Ye successfully refined the evil parasite and volunteered to retrieve the Desireless Stone for Zhen Yu. Fan Yue sought out Tian Huo and entrusted her with a task: to find Bai Xi’s whereabouts for Bai Shuo. After Tian Huo left, Fan Yue accompanied Bai Shuo in the alchemy hall. At that moment, Lao Gui visited the Unbridled Pavilion to check on his disciple and diagnosed Bai Shuo’s condition.
He confirmed that the Weak Water Stone’s energy had healed her but noted that she had lost the automatic protection of the Desireless Stone. This worried Fan Yue, but Bai Shuo reassured him that she could handle it.
Episode 22 Recap
Cang Shan's mother came to visit in person, her words filled with urgency. She revealed that the Stone Clan had recently experienced a series of bizarre murders. Each night, clan members disappeared, only for their bodies to be discovered in the stone forest the next day. Although the manner of death varied, all the victims shared the same tragic expression, as if they had died with unresolved grievances. Their appearances were ghastly.
Cang Shan’s father, Cang Xuan, the clan leader, had decided to investigate, but once he left, he never returned. Desperate and out of options, Cang Shan's mother sought Fan Yue’s help, hoping he could assist the Stone Clan through this crisis. Bai Shuo was concerned about Fan Yue's health, but the Desireless Stone suddenly activated, displaying an image of a rugged stone village. Fan Yue deduced that the next "emotion" was tied to the Stone Clan.
Now, with the Desireless Stone having gathered the emotions of kindness, killing, and love, only greed and hatred remained—both clearly connected to death. Bai Shuo insisted on accompanying Fan Yue to the Stone Clan, and he did not stop her. When they arrived at the Stone Clan, Cang Shan's mother arranged accommodations for them. By chance, Cang Shan's friend, Shi Lei, passed by and warmly welcomed the group.
Given the urgency of the situation, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue followed Shi Lei to examine the victims' bodies. After inspecting them, Cang Shan was shocked to confirm that these individuals had not died instantly; their bones had been shattered, and they had been tortured to death in an unimaginably cruel manner. Shi Lei solemnly explained to Bai Shuo and Fan Yue that the Stone Clan had always lived in seclusion and never harbored grievances against others.
Within the clan, the people lived harmoniously without disputes. Such cruel methods could not have originated from anyone in the Stone Clan. However, Fan Yue disagreed, stating that Shi Lei's disbelief did not negate the possibility. Until the truth was revealed, everyone was a suspect. In the meantime, Zhong Zhao secretly visited Fu Ling in the dungeon and fed her a Lanling Sect elixir. Fu Ling, worried, reminded him that saving her would surely invite Zhen Yu’s harsh punishment.
But Zhong Zhao dismissed her concerns, expressing confusion over why Fu Ling remained so loyal to Zhen Yu, despite his treatment of her. Fu Ling recalled her past, being abandoned as a child and taken in by her master. Without him, she would not have survived. Fu Ling knew that she still had some use to her master and would likely endure more suffering but not death.
Zhong Zhao told her that it was precisely because of this that Zhen Yu continued to torment her. He then embraced Fu Ling tightly, leaving the dungeon with her. He declared that his actions were simply to repay her kindness and that from now on, they were even, and he would no longer intervene on her behalf.
Before leaving, Zhong Zhao said gravely that although Fu Ling held the title of demon lord in Cold Spring Palace and appeared prestigious, she was actually trapped in Zhen Yu’s torment. Her seemingly cold and ruthless demeanor was a façade, a means of self-protection, not her true nature. Zhong Zhao hoped that Fu Ling would realize that clinging to life as she was now was not the only way to live.
However, he was unaware that Fu Ling had taken the Heart-Eating Pill. In this world, not everyone has the privilege of choice. After leaving Fu Ling’s room, Zhong Zhao immediately went to Zhen Yu to confess. He sincerely explained that he had freed Fu Ling only to repay her and no longer wanted to be indebted to her. From now on, there would be no ties between them.
Zhong Zhao speculated that Zhen Yu had already deemed Fu Ling expendable and believed that Zhen Yu needed someone stronger by his side. He was confident that he could fill that role. As expected, Zhen Yu neither confirmed nor denied his actions. That night, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue, analyzing the victims’ gruesome deaths, suspected the case to be one of revenge.
Meanwhile, Cang Shan’s mother ventured out alone to pray to a mysterious figure for protection, but her pleas went unanswered, and she returned home dejected. Back at home, Cang Shan questioned his mother about whether the clan members' deaths were connected to old events, expressing resentment toward his father. This angered his mother, who slapped him and scolded him harshly. The following morning, Zhong Zhao brought medicinal soup to Fu Ling. While chatting, he indirectly inquired about Chen Ye’s whereabouts.
Fu Ling, who had been injured during a fight over spiritual herbs, experienced a headache and, in her confusion, recited Zhong Zhao’s family teachings. Hearing this, Zhong Zhao was visibly shocked. After probing further, he learned that Fu Ling had entered Cold Spring Palace ten years ago and was even more surprised when she mentioned Bai Shuo’s short blade and two unfamiliar little girls. Soon after, a wounded youth appeared at the entrance of the Stone Clan village.
Fan Yue, recognizing him by his flute, identified him as his younger brother, Qi Feng. However, he did not realize that Qi Feng was, in fact, Chen Ye from Cold Spring Palace. Bai Shuo diagnosed Qi Feng with severe spiritual vein damage in his legs. Though she was suspicious of his sudden appearance, she concealed her doubts. When Qi Feng regained consciousness, Fan Yue had a heartfelt conversation with him, bringing up events of the past.
Upon Fan Yue’s probing, Qi Feng revealed that the purple-eyed youth the Tiger Clan was searching for was not him but Fan Yue. Learning the truth, Fan Yue was consumed by guilt and self-reproach. Bai Shuo quickly followed him to comfort and calm him. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao speculated that Fu Ling might be Bai Xi but lacked sufficient evidence and kept his suspicions to himself.
Jin Yao, fearing that an evil worm was about to be refined, worried about its devastating potential, which would rival the deadly plague of the past. Jin Yao hoped his fears would never materialize. Bai Shuo took the initiative to visit Qi Feng, and the two exchanged gifts.
Episode 23 Recap
Early in the morning, Zhong Zhao visited Fu Ling again to check on her condition and asked about her headaches. Before leaving, he left some medicine for her. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo brought breakfast to Fan Yue, urging him to genuinely let go of his guilt rather than pretending to move on. She reminded him that uncovering the truth was meant to face reality, not to dwell on the guilt of the past.
The priority was to gather all five emotions as quickly as possible to cure the Seven-Star Soul-Burning Seal and protect the people he truly wanted to protect. As they spoke, Qi Feng arrived late. The reason for his tardiness was that he had made bamboo shoot buns for Fan Yue. Bai Shuo reminded Qi Feng not to go out alone, as the Stone Tribe was currently unsafe.
Fan Yue backed her up, though the interaction between the three felt warm yet subtly tense. After breakfast, Bai Shuo offered to help Cang Shan’s mother hang laundry, using the opportunity to probe why she hadn’t searched for her missing husband despite his disappearance for two days. Cang Shan's mother hesitated to answer but avoided Bai Shuo’s gaze entirely upon seeing Qi Feng, her expression shifting to fear and avoidance.
This deepened Bai Shuo’s suspicions, as she believed Qi Feng’s sudden appearance was no coincidence. Zhong Zhao, meanwhile, sneaked into Zhen Yu’s room to investigate and accidentally triggered a secret mechanism. However, the barrier he touched alerted Zhen Yu. Enraged, Zhen Yu attempted to kill Zhong Zhao but hesitated when he saw a Black Seal Mark appear. Shocked, Zhen Yu paused just as Fu Ling rushed in, fabricating an excuse that Zhong Zhao had been looking for medicine for her.
With this explanation, Zhen Yu reluctantly spared Zhong Zhao’s life. After leaving Zhen Yu’s room, Fu Ling scolded Zhong Zhao for his reckless actions, which could only bring trouble upon himself. Zhong Zhao countered by asking her about the ancient mirror in Zhen Yu’s room and mentioned the strange power within Zhen Yu. Fu Ling speculated that Zhen Yu might have seen the Black Seal Mark and urged Zhong Zhao to return to the Lanling Sect as soon as possible.
In secret, Cang Shan’s mother pleaded with Chen Ye, stating that she had lured the Master of Bright Moon Palace as instructed and begged him to release her husband, Cang Xuan. Elsewhere, Bai Shuo, Fan Yue, and Cang Shan investigated the Stone Forest, where they found numerous sharp scratches on the stones. Suddenly, the three were ambushed by a masked figure in black. Cang Shan managed to injure the attacker.
Cang Shan recounted the tribe’s history, explaining that the Stone Tribe didn’t originally live there. Many Demon Race tribes were annihilated by the Tiger Tribe, and the Stone Tribe was no exception. To survive, Cang Xuan led his people to wander, eventually settling in an ancient land of a now-extinct tribe. Only one young boy guarded the ancestral tombs, unwilling to abandon his homeland even in death. Cang Xuan killed the boy.
After the boy’s death, his resentment lingered, disturbing the tribe’s peace and forcing them to move again. Even then, the boy’s vengeful spirit followed them. Cang Xuan and his people erected stone pillars in the Stone Forest to suppress it, but this led to a heated argument between Cang Shan and his father, prompting Cang Shan to leave and never return.
Based on Cang Shan’s story, the boy’s legs were broken by Cang Xuan, which made Fan Yue think of Qi Feng. Bai Shuo, however, dismissed it as mere coincidence, pointing out that she had personally examined Qi Feng’s legs and confirmed that his spiritual veins were destroyed. This contradicted the apparent agility of the black-clad attacker.
Deep down, Bai Shuo still harbored doubts about Qi Feng but chose not to voice them in front of Fan Yue, knowing Qi Feng was his only family. Confirming Qi Feng as the culprit would devastate him. Elsewhere, Zhen Yu recalled how he once forced Lao Gui to divine the fates of three destined children.
Lao Gui determined that two of them were the Violet-Eyed youth of the Bai Ze Clan and a member of the Bai family in Ning’an City of the Human Race. As for the third child, Lao Gui could only point toward the Eternal Race. Now, seeing Zhong Zhao’s Black Seal Mark, Zhen Yu suspected that Zhong Zhao was the third child he had been searching for. Fan Yue, under the pretext of visiting, questioned Qi Feng about the Stone Tribe murders.
Sensing Fan Yue’s suspicion, Qi Feng accused him of not trusting him and recounted his painful experiences, leaving Fan Yue feeling guilty. Soon after, Cang Xuan’s body was discovered—it was the masked figure from the night before. The tribespeople accused Cang Shan of killing his father and verbally attacked him. Cang Shan’s mother, seeking revenge, attempted to confront Qi Feng but was killed instead.
Finding the situation strange, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue reexamined Cang Xuan’s body and discovered a parasitic worm. They deduced that he had been controlled by the worm and killed as a result. Overwhelmed with guilt, Cang Shan blamed himself for his father’s death. Fan Yue consoled him and explained the situation with the parasitic worm, easing his pain somewhat. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo encountered Qi Feng while searching for Cang Shan’s mother. Qi Feng selflessly shielded her from a parasitic worm’s attack, but the effort left him unconscious.
Episode 24 Recap
Although Fan Yue used his demonic powers to protect Qi Feng's heart and attempted to remove the evil parasite from his body, he found himself powerless to do so. Since Cang Shan could not leave to search for his mother, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue decided to go on the search themselves, leaving Cang Shan behind to look after Qi Feng. However, shortly after they left, Qi Feng suddenly woke up.
Cang Shan, in his kind and naive manner, enthusiastically carried him to a chair and covered him with a blanket. Qi Feng feigned weakness and offered Cang Shan a "gift"—he led him to open a nearby stone door, revealing the stiff, lifeless body of Cang Shan’s mother. Meanwhile, Bai Shuo and Fan Yue encountered Shi Bo, who was attempting to escape with Shi Lei. However, Shi Lei insisted on staying to protect the Shi Clan.
When pressed by the three, Shi Bo reluctantly recounted the Shi Clan’s past: the clan once suffered from a debilitating bone-softening disease. Desperate for a cure, they resorted to digging up and consuming the spiritual bones of the ancient Bai Ze Clan. Upon hearing this, Fan Yue was furious. This revelation confirmed that Qi Feng was the boy whose legs had been broken by the Shi Clan long ago.
At that moment, Qi Feng restrained Cang Shan and revealed the truth: it was Cang Shan himself, in a fit of madness, who had broken his own legs. To protect him, Cang Xuan had used his own demonic core to suppress Cang Shan’s berserk condition and erased his memories, taking all the blame upon himself. Qi Feng crushed his father’s demonic core in front of Cang Shan, who was overwhelmed with grief.
As Cang Shan lashed out in anger, Qi Feng framed him, claiming before everyone that Cang Shan’s berserk condition had caused him to kill his mother and harm others. The clan, already aware of Cang Shan’s condition as a child, believed Qi Feng’s words and tied Cang Shan up, intending to burn him alive. Fortunately, Bai Shuo arrived in time to stop them. Initially, the clan members refused to believe Bai Shuo’s explanation.
It wasn’t until Shi Bo stepped forward and revealed that Qi Feng’s actions were driven by revenge that they began to see the truth. Bai Shuo reminded everyone that their fear had led them to act unjustly toward Cang Shan and urged them to unite against the true enemy. Her words convinced them, and they resolved to stand together. Fan Yue, on the other hand, confronted Qi Feng alone.
Qi Feng revealed his identity as Chen Ye of Lengquan Palace and declared that all Shi Clan members must pay for the Bai Ze Clan’s suffering. Fan Yue pleaded with Chen Ye to stop the killings, but at the critical moment, Chen Ye controlled Fan Yue. He had secretly fed Fan Yue a dumpling filled with the mother parasite, with Zhen Yu’s help, allowing Chen Ye to stand tall once more.
Chen Ye trusted no one but his mentor, Zhen Yu, and used the mother parasite to command Fan Yue to kill Cang Shan. Meanwhile, the Shi Clan members, under the control of the parasite larvae in their bodies, attacked Bai Shuo and Cang Shan. In desperation, Bai Shuo summoned the Alien King Sword to stun the attackers but exhausted her spiritual power, leaving her weak.
In the next moment, the Desireless Stone revealed a prophetic vision: the Shi Formation would explode, releasing the Bai Ze Clan’s wrathful energy. Understanding the sacrifices his parents had made to protect him, Cang Shan resolved to take responsibility as the young master of the Shi Clan. Bai Shuo hurried to find Fan Yue and encountered the now freely moving Chen Ye. She tried to explain the pain and struggles Fan Yue had endured over the years.
During their confrontation, Bai Shuo used the power of the Desireless Stone to enter Chen Ye’s consciousness. She saw Qi Feng’s memories from his youth: after barely escaping the Tiger Clan, Qi Feng returned to the Bai Ze Clan, only to find a land filled with graves. The absence of Fan Yue’s grave brought him a sliver of hope amid his grief.
However, after his legs were broken and he was taken in by Zhen Yu, he renamed himself Chen Ye and was consumed entirely by his desire for revenge. Bai Shuo even saw her sister’s younger self within Lengquan Palace.
Episode 25 Recap
Bai Shuo emerged from Chen Ye's consciousness, eager to ask about Bai Xi's whereabouts. However, Chen Ye refused to reveal anything. Despite this, Bai Shuo noticed Chen Ye's complicated feelings toward Fan Yue in his subconscious. Years ago, the clan leader had entrusted him with not only protecting Fan Yue but also safeguarding him with his life. Even during his imprisonment by the Tiger Clan, though confused and afraid, Chen Ye never betrayed Fan Yue.
Embarrassed and angry, Chen Ye refused to admit this truth. In the stone formation, Fan Yue, influenced by the mother parasite, repeatedly attacked Cang Shan. Just as Cang Shan was on the verge of death, Bai Shuo rushed over and awakened Fan Yue. Chen Ye once again controlled the mother parasite, ordering Fan Yue to attack Bai Shuo and seize the Desireless Stone.
Cang Shan, wielding a blade, threatened Chen Ye to stop, but Chen Ye retaliated by threatening the lives of the entire Shi Clan. Watching his people die one after another, Cang Shan was overwhelmed with pain and knelt, pleading with Chen Ye to stop. However, Chen Ye showed no mercy. Cang Shan and Bai Shuo worked together to expel the mother parasite from Fan Yue's body and lured it into Cang Shan’s body.
Determined to protect the Shi Clan and end all grudges, Cang Shan resolutely self-destructed with the mother parasite. In an instant, the Shi Clan members fell unconscious. Cang Shan’s sacrifice destroyed the stone formation, releasing the Bai Ze Clan’s vengeful energy, which rushed into Bai Shuo's forehead. Overwhelmed by the hatred, Bai Shuo fell into a coma. After Cang Shan’s death, only a stone-shaped relic remained. Grieving deeply, Fan Yue held the stone tightly in his hands.
Zhong Zhao shared the secret of an ancient mirror hidden in Zhen Yu’s room with Lanling Sect. Jin Yao and others examined the diagram of the mirror’s patterns and, along with other clues, speculated that Zhen Yu might be connected to the ancient Hidden Clan. They believed his ultimate ambition was to become a god. Although they couldn’t be certain, Jin Yao knew the risk was too great and decided to summon the seventy-two sects of the Eternal Race.
Fan Yue brought Bai Shuo back to Bright Moon Palace, where she remained in a deep coma, causing him both confusion and anxiety. Meanwhile, in her dreamlike state, Bai Shuo arrived at a Bai Ze Clan village, where she encountered Gu Shang and other Bai Ze clansmen. Initially, they were unwelcoming toward her as an outsider. However, Gu Shang stepped out of the crowd and revealed that he had been waiting for her for a long time.
Tian Huo, searching for survivors of the Tiger Clan, learned of Cang Shan’s death and furiously vowed to kill Chen Ye to avenge him. Knowing that, although the mother parasite was dead, the larvae still lingered in the Shi Clan members, Fan Yue stopped Tian Huo. He brought Chen Ye to a secret chamber and showed him the Bai Ze Clan’s name plaques, hoping it would help Chen Ye let go of his hatred.
However, Chen Ye insisted that the Shi Clan must pay with their lives. After leaving the chamber, Fan Yue joined Tian Huo to mourn Cang Shan. Tian Huo, having calmed down, introduced a Tiger Clan orphan, A Nuo, who recounted the day the Tiger Clan was annihilated.
According to A Nuo’s memories, the order to destroy the clan came from Chen Ye himself, while the Tiger King, his father, followed the commands of a mysterious figure with a black serpent tattoo. Chen Ye immediately recalled seeing a similar tattoo on Zhen Yu’s arm, leading him to suspect Zhen Yu. Meanwhile, Zhen Yu summoned Zhong Zhao and, to ensure his absolute loyalty, infused him with demonic and hidden powers, severing his ties to the Eternal Race.
He also instructed Zhong Zhao to cultivate the method of merging demonic and eternal powers. After returning to his room, Zhong Zhao tried in vain to expel the demonic power, realizing that he could never return to Lanling Sect. He urged Fu Ling to leave Lengquan, but Fu Ling decided to face the future with Zhong Zhao. Bai Shuo, still in her vision, met Gu Shang, the Bai Ze Clan leader, and curiously asked how he knew her.
Gu Shang explained that the Bai Ze Clan’s vengeful energy had been suppressed by the stone formation, preventing them from communicating with the outside world. Fortunately, the Desireless Stone acted as a medium, allowing him to speak with Bai Shuo. Grateful that Bai Shuo was by Fan Yue’s side, Gu Shang decided to reveal the truth about the violet-eyed boy before the Bai Ze Clan dissipated completely.
Episode 26 Recap
Twenty-five years ago, the violet-eyed child was born into the Bai Ze Clan. Gu Shang was overjoyed to have twin grandsons, one of whom, Fan Yue, was born with violet eyes, which astonished him. At first, Fan Yue behaved like any normal child, until one day he went up the mountain to gather herbs and fell off a cliff. Gu Shang went in search of him and discovered a violet mark on Fan Yue's forehead.
This mark was the divine symbol of the Demon God, which meant that Fan Yue was the reincarnation of the Demon God Jing Yuan. Although the gods’ existence in the world remained a mystery, Bai Ze had once been favored by the Demon God. In ancient times, Bai Ze's ancestors had received protection from the Demon God Jing Yuan, who had granted them a trace of divine power.
Although tens of thousands of years had passed, and Bai Ze’s divine power had long since faded, their bloodline still contained strong spiritual energy and soul power, much stronger than that of ordinary demons. Otherwise, their souls would not have remained intact for so many years. Fan Yue suspected that Bai Ze’s soul power was in Bai Shuo’s sea of consciousness, suppressing her will, which was why she had not woken up.
In order to awaken her, Fan Yue forcibly entered her sea of consciousness, despite the great danger. It was there that Fan Yue met Gu Shang in Bai Shuo’s consciousness. Gu Shang informed them that the Hidden Lord would soon reappear in the world, bringing with him a catastrophe for all. Soon after, the vengeful energy of Bai Ze was completely dissipated, and the illusion began to collapse.
Before leaving, Gu Shang and the other Bai Ze clanspeople gave Bai Shuo their blessings and spiritual power to help her cleanse the hatred within her, ensuring that she would face no hardships and that her path would become clear. Ultimately, Gu Shang and the others faded away, and Bai Shuo and Fan Yue woke up from the illusion. Bai Shuo tightly embraced Fan Yue, feeling the joy of being reborn after the tribulation.
Fan Yue enjoyed the feeling of being relied upon by her. Sometimes, he wished he could cast aside his identity as the Demon God or Demon King and live a carefree life in hiding with her. Bai Shuo hoped that Fan Yue would not be overwhelmed by the title of Demon God. If the world were at peace, retreating into seclusion would be fine.
But if, as Gu Shang said, the Hidden Lord were to resurrect, bringing catastrophe to the world, there would be nowhere to hide. Chen Ye gazed at the nameplates of his clanspeople, reflecting on everything that had happened. Suddenly, A Nuo opened the secret chamber and attempted to assassinate Chen Ye. However, not wanting to kill anyone in front of his clan, Chen Ye only knocked A Nuo unconscious.
He took his own nameplate and secretly left Bright Moon Palace, making Fan Yue believe that Chen Ye had chosen to remain loyal to Lengquan Palace. However, Chen Ye pretended to be injured to test the waters and discovered that Zhen Yu was indeed the mysterious figure. He attempted to assassinate Zhen Yu, but failed and was severely wounded, imprisoned in the dungeon, and once again lost the ability to walk.
Zhen Yu, suspicious of Chen Ye’s actions, began to suspect that Fan Yue might be the violet-eyed boy he had been searching for. Bai Shuo was concerned that Fan Yue might transform into the Demon God Jing Yuan. Fan Yue reassured her that she need not worry, as he would always be Fan Yue, and no one could change that. Tian Huo revealed to Bai Shuo that she had been ordered to investigate Bai Xi’s whereabouts.
She discovered that Bai Xi had once appeared in Lengquan Palace. Bai Shuo also recalled the scenes in Chen Ye’s memories, realizing that finding Bai Xi would require more effort. Meanwhile, Fu Ling personally visited the dungeon to see Chen Ye, only to learn that Zhen Yu was Chen Ye’s family’s destroyer.
Chen Ye lamented how he and Fu Ling had fought against each other in Lengquan Palace, seemingly bitter rivals, but in the end, they were each other’s only companion. He shared the whereabouts of the antidote to the Heart-Eating Poison with Fu Ling, hoping she could live on.
Bai Shuo wanted to quickly grow stronger, but when practicing her sword techniques, she still felt unwell, indicating that she had not properly refined the four thoughts and Bai Ze’s spiritual power to make them her own. Fan Yue took Bai Shuo to a cave that had once been a place of the Divine Clan. It was here that he had learned many of his demon techniques and all the information related to the Desireless Stone.
No one could spy on it, except for Fan Yue. Bai Shuo sat cross-legged on an ice bed, cultivating her energy, while Fan Yue watched over her. Fu Ling quietly entered Zhen Yu’s room to look for the antidote to the Heart-Eating Poison. Just as she was about to leave, she remembered Chen Ye and Zhong Zhao’s words, which piqued her curiosity.
Unexpectedly, Zhen Yu came in from outside and, knowing she had visited Chen Ye, crushed a pill in front of her. Fu Ling’s missing memories returned, and she remembered that she was Bai Xi. Zhen Yu, now certain that Bai Shuo was the person he had been searching for, decided to kill Fu Ling.
Episode 27 Recap
Just as Zhen Yu was about to kill Fu Ling, Zhong Zhao appeared just in time to plead for her life. He promised that if Zhen Yu spared Fu Ling, he would swear loyalty to Lengquan Palace. Because of Zhong Zhao’s status, Zhen Yu refrained from killing Fu Ling. However, Fu Ling could not accept the truth and desperately denied that she was Bai Xi.
The thought that she had killed her father and severely wounded her sister filled her with guilt and regret, nearly drowning her in sorrow. To test Fan Yue’s identity, Zhen Yu deliberately spread the news of Chen Ye’s supposed betrayal of Lengquan Palace and his impending execution. Despite knowing that it was a trap set by Lengquan Palace, Fan Yue insisted on going to rescue Chen Ye.
Sure enough, Zhen Yu confirmed that Fan Yue was the true reincarnation of the Demon God, and he began to control the Mirror of the Sky to absorb Fan Yue’s demonic energy. The cracks in the mirror gradually healed. Meanwhile, Lengquan Palace fell into chaos, and Zhong Zhao took the opportunity to try to leave with Fu Ling.
Fu Ling refused to leave, so Zhong Zhao had no choice but to knock her out and carry her out of Lengquan Palace. Fan Yue also realized that Zhen Yu’s true identity was that of the ancient serpent of the Divine Clan from sixty thousand years ago, which allowed him to cultivate the transformation into a dragon. The reason Zhen Yu could heal Chen Ye’s legs was because he carried a trace of the Hidden Clan’s power.
Chen Ye attempted to save Fan Yue but was once again severely injured by Zhen Yu. To prevent the Mirror of the Sky from fully restoring, Fan Yue voluntarily activated the Star Explosion, unleashing tremendous demonic power to shatter the mirror and injure Zhen Yu. Chen Ye, with his last breath, shielded Fan Yue from a fatal blow. He died before Fan Yue, fading away into the world, and the violet eyes returned to Fan Yue.
Bai Shuo arrived just in time at Lengquan Palace to rescue Fan Yue and avenge her father, engaging in a fierce battle with Zhen Yu. However, Zhen Yu was still very powerful, and Bai Shuo struggled to contend with him. At a critical moment, she remembered how Fan Yue had taught her to strike a fatal blow to her enemy.
She gathered the power of the Desireless Stone into one place and, in the end, turned the tide and defeated Zhen Yu, who fled heavily wounded. With the death of the Evil Insect Lord, Chen Ye, the many larvae inside the bodies of the Stone Clan members transformed into butterflies and scattered. The entire clan regained their consciousness, and the Stone Clan returned to a peaceful and harmonious life.
Fan Yue carried the unconscious Bai Shuo back to Bright Moon Palace, but they both collapsed from exhaustion. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao, taking advantage of the chaos at Lengquan Palace, took Fu Ling back to Ning’an City’s Mantou Shop. When Fu Ling woke up, she found the place vaguely familiar, and many images surfaced in her mind.
Zhong Zhao entered with medicinal soup, telling her that she had not had a choice in the past, but now, if she had enough courage, she could choose a new life. Fan Yue blamed himself for not protecting Bai Shuo. Through Tian Huo, he learned that Bai Shuo was soon going to refine her mental power.
When she learned that Fan Yue was at Lengquan Palace, she used a barrier to trap Tian Huo inside a cave and confronted Zhen Yu alone. Tian Huo explained that the reason Fan Yue had recovered so quickly after falling from the stars was because of the pill that Bai Shuo had once given him. Fan Yue was deeply moved upon hearing this.
At the Celestial Gate Conference, Jin Yao, aware that Zhong Zhao had not clarified the matter of his undercover mission, found that the various sects did not believe his claims about Zhen Yu and the Hidden Clan and were unwilling to send troops to attack Lengquan Palace. Jin Yao had no choice but to temporarily put the matter aside.
He also knew that Zhong Zhao now carried both demonic power and Hidden Clan power within him, and since the Hidden Clan and the Hidden Power were not accepted by the Eternal and Demon Races, if the various sects learned of this, Zhong Zhao’s life would be in danger. Later, Fan Yue personally hung Qi Feng’s nameplate back in the secret chamber.
Upon seeing the message "I was wrong" left by Qi Feng before his death, he was overcome with tears. Bai Shuo found Fan Yue at the cliffs of the Extreme Realm, and they watched the night scenery and fireflies together. Fan Yue felt that Bai Shuo was like the fireflies—small lights in the dark, bringing hope to dispel the shadows. Bai Shuo took the opportunity to confess her feelings to Fan Yue.
"May I be like the stars and you like the moon, as long as the world exists, the stars and moon will remain. " This became their vow. In the beautiful scene, they embraced and kissed, and their bond was solidified as a married couple.
