Zhen Yu saved Chen Ye just in time and brought him back to Lengquan Palace. Chen Ye suspected that Jing Lei and the others had discovered his whereabouts and identity because of a mole. All signs pointed to Zhong Zhao. Meanwhile, Zhong Zhao found Bai Shuo again, confessing the real reason he joined Lengquan Palace and apologizing, while Fu Ling resolved to kill Bai Shuo herself.

After hearing Zhong Zhao's plan and motives, Bai Shuo tried to persuade him not to return to Lengquan Palace and instead go to Lanling Sect, where Jin Yao could protect him. However, Zhong Zhao wanted Bai Shuo to leave with him and didn’t understand why she insisted on staying with Fan Yue. Bai Shuo admitted her feelings for Fan Yue, saying that Zhong Zhao should follow his own path.

At the same time, Mu Jiu sought out Fan Yue to make a deal. He offered to surrender the Weak Water Stone to save Bai Shuo but begged Fan Yue to protect the Fox Clan in the future. Initially, Fan Yue refused, knowing that removing the Weak Water Stone from Mu Jiu’s body would endanger his life. However, after Mu Jiu’s persistent pleas, Fan Yue eventually agreed.

Because Chen Ye had left behind an evil parasite that was discovered by the Lanling Sect, Jin Yao and the others feared the parasite's potential harm. They immediately sent a message to Zhong Zhao, urging him to stop the parasite before it caused chaos. Meanwhile, Mu Jiu went to see Tian Huo, giving her a small fox doll made from his tail fur as a token of apology and farewell. He promised not to leave the Fox Clan.

Tian Huo was angry that Mu Jiu was sacrificing his freedom and their relationship for the clan, suppressing her sadness while vowing to live freely without him. That night, Mu Jiu met Fan Yue under the Withering Tree and handed him a keepsake bead, asking him to pass it on to Bai Shuo. Once Fan Yue confirmed that Mu Jiu had made up his mind, he activated the Withering Tree to extract the Weak Water Stone from Mu Jiu’s body.

This left Mu Jiu critically weak, with only a short time to live. He used his remaining strength to see Tian Huo one last time. Bai Shuo, using the Desireless Stone, saw a vision of Mu Jiu in danger and rushed toward the Withering Tree. On her way, she was ambushed by Fu Ling. Fu Ling intended to kill Bai Shuo to sever her own feelings for Zhong Zhao.

Bai Shuo fought back desperately, and Fu Ling noticed that Bai Shuo’s short dagger matched a memory fragment she had seen before. She questioned Bai Shuo about the dagger’s origin, but Bai Shuo refused to answer. Enraged, Fu Ling drew her bow and repeatedly shot arrows at Bai Shuo’s legs, forcing her to crawl forward. Despite being gravely injured, Bai Shuo continued to resist. Her unwavering determination activated the Alien King Ring, transforming it into the Alien King Sword.

Zhong Zhao intervened to shield Fu Ling from the sword's energy, but a fleeting black mark on his forehead caught Fu Ling’s attention. Fan Yue arrived just in time to catch Bai Shuo as she collapsed. Meanwhile, with his last breath, Mu Jiu tightly embraced Tian Huo and said goodbye. Through tears, he asked how she would handle life’s challenges without him by her side. Tian Huo, also crying, tried to respond with indifference to sever their bond.

In the end, they parted ways. Mu Jiu dissipated into spiritual energy, reviving the Withering Tree. When Tian Huo turned around, he had vanished without a trace, leaving only the small fox doll on the grass. Fan Yue channeled the Weak Water Stone’s energy into Bai Shuo, restoring her health. The Love Thought emerged from the Withering Tree and entered Bai Shuo’s body, completing the third of the Five Thoughts needed for the Desireless Stone.

When Bai Shuo learned that Mu Jiu had sacrificed himself for the tree, she was overwhelmed with grief. Seeing Mu Jiu’s recorded image encouraging her to continue fighting her destiny, she broke down in tears. Tian Huo, finally understanding why Mu Jiu stayed with the Fox Clan, went to the Withering Tree to mourn, leaning against it as she wept. Fu Ling tended to Zhong Zhao’s injuries and asked why he saved her.

Zhong Zhao said it was to repay her for saving his life before. As she looked at Zhong Zhao’s unmarked forehead, she remembered the fleeting mark she had seen earlier and subtly probed if he had noticed anything unusual. Zhong Zhao was puzzled, but their relationship seemed to improve slightly.
