> Beauty of Resilience Recap

On the night before the army's departure, Chen Yan quietly went to the forest behind the mountain to pass on information, in order for the Jinghe army to make early preparations. The next day, General Cao led the troops and set off to Xifeng Fort. The march went smoothly, and they didn't encounter any defenses at Xifeng Fort, which puzzled him. Chen Yan persuaded General Cao not to worry too much, as they were already at a critical point and should order an attack on the fort regardless.

Indeed, Xifeng Fort was filled with layers of traps, and the cavalry fell into an ambush and struggled to escape. In the dire situation, Sima Jin couldn't care about military orders and immediately released Sima Wangyue, ordering her to lead the remaining troops to help the western route. Sima Wangyue accepted the mission in the face of danger, promising not to let them down. She then teamed up with Chen Yan and Mu Nan to repel the enemy's attack, gaining the respect of their comrades.

Because of Chen Yan's invaluable contribution in saving the Wei Cang army, Sima Wangyue felt indebted to him. Chen Yan jokingly suggested that Sima Wangyue should repay him with her body, but to his surprise, Sima Wangyue readily agreed without any hesitation or embarrassment. On the other hand, following the failure of the battle, General Qi suspected that General Cao had betrayed them and informed Sima Jin that General Cao knew about Sima Wangyue's true identity as a woman.

Although General Cao had a hot temper and lacked restraint in his speech, Sima Jin, considering his long-standing loyalty and dedication to the country, found it hard to believe that he would collude with the enemy. Without sufficient evidence, no hasty conclusions could be drawn. That night, Chen Yan dreamed that his identity as a spy was exposed, feeling ashamed to face the Sima family. He also witnessed Sima Wangyue jumping off the city wall and dying, waking up from the nightmare in an instant.

As Chen Yan had difficulty moving due to his injuries, Sima Wangyue took him to the forest to have a heart-to-heart conversation, creating an especially ambiguous atmosphere between them. This moment of beauty made Chen Yan slightly melancholic, as he began to contemplate why there had to be war. If the two countries stopped fighting, there might have been a future between him and Sima Wangyue, without involving many innocent people.

Sima Jin pondered General Qi's words repeatedly, realizing that there was not enough evidence to prove General Cao's loyalty. He urgently summoned Mu Nan back to the city and asked him about the conflict between him and someone regarding Wangyue's identity. Mu Nan truthfully revealed that these people were mostly veteran soldiers stationed in the isolated city, most of whom were under General Cao's command, suggesting a possible connection between the exposure of Sima Wangyue's daughter's identity and General Cao.

During their conversation, news arrived from the palace that the Emperor had pardoned Sima Wangyue for disguising herself as a soldier. Sima Jin was overjoyed and immediately decided to hold a feast, both to celebrate and to clarify matters face-to-face. General Cao received a personal invitation from Sima Jin, who had specifically ordered a cask of fine wine from the winery. However, Yin Keji had already poisoned the wine.

During the feast, Sima Jin asked the generals and soldiers why they had chosen to join the military. While each person had a different answer, they all shared the same belief of repelling the enemy and protecting their homeland. The morale was high and deeply resonated with everyone. Sima Jin hoped that after this battle, regardless of their status, they would coexist harmoniously and treat each other sincerely, without engaging in internal conflicts.

As soon as he finished speaking, General Cao immediately stood up to apologize to Sima Jin, admitting that he deliberately spread the news of Sima Wangyue's daughter's identity out of jealousy. Fortunately, Sima Wangyue didn't pursue the matter further and reconciled with General Cao. General Cao brought out the fine wine he had reserved to toast them. Mu Nan thought that Sima Wangyue was trying to stop him from drinking and took a sip, only to suffer immediate poisoning and start coughing up blood.

Seeing this, Sima Jin was furious and ordered General Cao to be imprisoned. The military doctor examined Mu Nan in detail but couldn't find a solution. The poison he had been inflicted with was a rare one known to the Jinghe sorcerers, and without the antidote, death was certain. Later, Sima Jin went to the prison to interrogate General Cao, forcing him to confess the truth. General Cao claimed to have a clear conscience and, due to his rude attitude, enraged Sima Jin to the point of subjecting him to torture.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Mu Nan's symptoms worsened, and even though he was wrapped in thick blankets, he felt a bone-piercing cold. Knowing that his time was running out, Mu Nan wanted to express his inner thoughts before his death, stating that he would die without regrets if he had his beloved person by his side. Sima Wangyue finally understood Mu Nan's feelings, but she couldn't respond directly. Instead, she went to the prison and lashed out at General Cao, demanding that he hand over the antidote, but to no avail.
