Begin Again Recap
Episode 1 Recap
In the Shenzhen photography studio, everyone was busy with their respective tasks. Mai Youge led the team in an all-night shoot for a wine commercial. Despite everyone being utterly exhausted, the director, in pursuit of perfection, insisted on repeated retakes, sparking complaints from the crew. To achieve the best results, Mai Youge endured the pressure, coordinating models, props, and makeup while addressing client representative Lisa's dissatisfaction with the overtime filming. Thanks to her efforts, the shoot was eventually completed successfully.
Mai Youge was planning to return to Beijing after the shoot when she received a last-minute call from her boss, Maggie, instructing her to head to Macau immediately. She was tasked with meeting Wu Kaitong, the PR manager of the Starshine Hotel, to discuss a promotional video project. Despite feeling unwell, Mai Youge forced herself to board a ferry to Macau.
Unfamiliar with the area and unable to understand the local dialect, Mai Youge faced numerous challenges before finally reaching her destination. However, a nearby car race caused severe traffic congestion and crowds. In desperation, she sought help from Xu Junle, a motorcyclist, and managed to hitch a ride, allowing her to proceed smoothly.
At the same time, experienced professional racer Han Junhao had arrived in Macau to compete in the international GT Cup. His impressive performance brought him back into the spotlight. After winning the preliminary race, he accepted an interview. However, a sharp question from a journalist suggested that his stellar performance this year was due to the absence of his rival, Tōmoto Dōshin, hinting that he might not have succeeded otherwise. This remark unsettled Han Junhao, prompting his teammates to escort him away quickly.
Due to delays, Mai Youge rushed to the Starshine Hotel, arriving over ten minutes late. Mandy, her contact, messaged to inform her that the meeting was canceled. Determined to fix the situation, Mai Youge reprinted the materials and, by chance, ran into Mandy. She hurriedly explained the reason for her tardiness.
Mandy, however, was busy welcoming the hotel guest Han Junhao and had no time for explanations. Surrounded by enthusiastic fans, Mai Youge was pushed around and could only stand aside and wait. Fortunately, her persistence and sincerity won Mandy over, and Mandy agreed to hand the proposal materials to Wu Kaitong.
That evening, Maggie scolded Mai Youge over the phone for her work mistake. Knowing she was at fault, Mai Youge apologized humbly. On top of her work troubles, her mother called again to urge her to marry and introduced a potential partner. Overwhelmed, Mai Youge made an excuse and quickly hung up.
Meanwhile, Han Junhao prepared in his hotel room for the upcoming main race. He reviewed video footage of Macau’s race tracks as part of his usual routine. However, the sharp questions from the journalist during the day lingered in his mind. Since losing to Japanese racer Tōmoto Dōshin in last year’s Macau GT Cup, Han Junhao had been stuck in a slump, yearning for a breakthrough yet caught in a cycle of self-doubt.
Without cash and stranded on the streets, Mai Youge found herself in a predicament. A tourist accidentally knocked her over, causing her phone to fall into a fountain. Coincidentally, Xu Junle passed by and recognized her. Remembering that Mai Youge had forgotten to return his helmet earlier in the day, Xu Junle’s impression of her deepened.
Elsewhere, feeling restless, Han Junhao decided to take a break from his training and went for a motorcycle ride. During the ride, he encountered a mysterious female rider, Chen Jiahui. The two raced along the coastal highway and eventually reached the mountaintop together. When Chen Jiahui removed her helmet, her stunning beauty left Han Junhao captivated. However, when he turned back, she had already left silently, leaving him to gaze alone at the twinkling lights of the small city below.
The next morning, Mai Youge waited in the lobby for Wu Kaitong. Using her excellent communication skills, she finally secured another chance, with Wu Kaitong requesting a revised proposal to be submitted in three days. Since her phone had shut down and couldn’t be turned on, Mai Youge had to seek Xu Junle’s help again to repair it. With his guidance as a “Macau local expert,” she began scouting locations around Macau.
Episode 2 Recap
Chen Jiahui had been living in Macau for many years and was already a well-known art curator in the area. She had her own unique perspectives and approaches toward both love and work. Her ex-boyfriend couldn’t forget her and frequently sent her flowers. While her colleague Xiaowen wanted to throw them away, Chen Jiahui happily accepted them and placed them in her office to brighten the space.
This gesture didn’t mean she wanted to reconcile; she simply thought wasting them would be shameful. Her friend Yvonne came over to inform Chen Jiahui that the artist Marlena had rejected her proposal, citing that Chen Jiahui didn’t truly understand the creator's thoughts and emotions. Chen Jiahui had devoted considerable time and effort to this project, so it was inevitable that she felt a little disappointed.
Yvonne told her that she had secured a second chance for the proposal and advised her to delve deeper into the meaning behind each artwork. Yvonne also mentioned that the Asia Exhibition had already been set for Macau, and securing this opportunity would open doors to collaborations with many artists. After taking on the task, Chen Jiahui hurried to her colleague and friend Isabella’s house. She tried to persuade Isabella to move past her heartbreak and refocus on work.
Thanks to Chen Jiahui’s encouragement, Isabella’s mood improved. However, since Isabella wasn’t as professional as Chen Jiahui, Chen had to step in to save the situation at work. Meanwhile, Xu Junle had initially thought that accompanying Mai Youge would be a relaxing sightseeing trip. To his surprise, Mai Youge acted like a triathlon athlete, tirelessly moving from one location to another with boundless energy. In contrast, Han Junhao encountered difficulties on the first day of his team’s training camp.
He made a rookie mistake while adjusting the brake discs, disrupting the entire training schedule. The team leader, anxious about the situation, offered to help Han Junhao with the adjustments but urged him to reset his mindset and not let a past failure completely demoralize him. Shaohui, an employee, requested two hours off from Wu Kaitong to attend his grandfather’s 80th birthday celebration. However, his sudden leave disrupted the PR department’s work schedule, which made Wu Kaitong furious.
They got into a conflict, and Wu even threatened to dock Shaohui’s year-end bonus. Angered, Shaohui accused Wu Kaitong of being cold-hearted and solely focused on transferring to the U. S. headquarters, while neglecting the fact that life isn’t just about work but also about family and friends. His words struck a chord with Wu Kaitong.
Throughout the day, Xu Junle accompanied Mai Youge to various tourist spots, introducing her to local architectural culture and taking her to a restaurant for a meal. Mai Youge, under pressure from work, turned her stress into appetite, savoring the local cuisine. At the dining table, she confided in Xu Junle about her terrible experiences in Macau and her frustrations with work and life.
Feeling sympathetic, Xu Junle promised to accompany her to enjoy delicious food every day as long as she stayed in Macau. As they left the restaurant, Xu Junle snapped a photo of Mai Youge’s back and took her to a phone store to retrieve her repaired phone. The shop owner, as a friend of Xu Junle, didn’t charge for the repair.
Later, while forwarding photos from that day, Xu Junle accidentally sent her the picture of her back, causing a slight ripple in her heart. Meanwhile, Chen Jiahui and Isabella were at a bar drinking when Han Junhao spotted them and immediately recognized Chen Jiahui as the female rider from the previous night.
Charles, the team manager, informed Han Junhao that the sponsor was considering replacing him with Tōmoto Dōshin as their new ambassador, citing not only a better image match but also the public misconception of Han Junhao being a playboy due to his lack of a romantic relationship. Charles suggested that Han Junhao take a girlfriend to the brand’s gala to subtly announce a relationship and dispel the rumors. Feeling conflicted, Han Junhao’s gaze remained fixed on Chen Jiahui.
Late at night, after bidding farewell to her friends, Chen Jiahui stood alone outside the bar and lit a match. Han Junhao approached her, curious about her reason for lighting matches. Chen Jiahui replied that there wasn’t any special reason; she simply felt the moment called for it. Before leaving, Chen Jiahui handed the matchbox to Han Junhao.
From the rearview mirror of her taxi, she noticed Han Junhao mimicking her by striking a match, which brought a smile to her face. The next morning, Chen Jiahui’s ex-boyfriend sent her flowers again. Unbothered, she commented on his actions, saying that some people might make good boyfriends but not good husbands, and cutting her losses in time was the best way to protect herself. Meanwhile, Han Junhao’s teammates encouraged him to express his feelings bravely if he met someone he liked.
Episode 3 Recap
Early in the morning, Mai Youge waited outside the hotel to meet Xu Junle, and the two began a new day of adventures. Meanwhile, Han Junhao and Chen Jiahui focused on their respective training and work, seamlessly going through the day like everyone else in Macau. Noticing the ledger Mai Youge always carried and never parted with, Xu Junle guessed that she had planned out another day of tightly scheduled activities.
He suggested she follow his plan for the day instead and experience Macau from the perspective of a local. Although Mai Youge was hesitant, she decided to trust him, hopping on the back of his motorbike as they headed to an unknown destination until their surroundings became more open and expansive. They arrived at the seaside, where they walked along the shore, greeted by the sea breeze.
Xu Junle noticed that Mai Youge was once again taking photos, tense as always. To help her relax, he suggested playing a 20-question guessing game. Gradually, Mai Youge became intrigued, coming closer to the answer with each question. When she finally guessed that the word Xu Junle had in mind was "Mai Manfen" (Mai Full Score), she was taken aback.
Xu Junle explained to her that while she couldn’t always achieve perfection, every moment she had spent in Macau so far had been perfect. Touched and surprised by his words, Mai Youge understood his intention—he wanted her to truly relax and experience Macau with her eyes and heart, not just through her phone’s camera lens. The two then strolled along the streets of Rua da Felicidade as the setting sun cast a warm glow.
Sitting side by side on a bench, Mai Youge expressed how long it had been since she’d simply sat quietly, letting the wind ease her mind and body. When Xu Junle asked if there was any place she particularly wanted to visit, she mentioned her desire to see a pink sunset in Altay. Hearing this, Xu Junle brought her to a mountaintop, where they overlooked the shimmering lights below.
While he couldn’t give her Altay’s pink sunset, he offered her the golden sea of lights before them. On the way back, Xu Junle took Mai Youge to an outdoor band performance where the lead singer happened to be a friend of his father’s. The lively atmosphere was infectious, and everyone invited Mai Youge to join in the dancing. Though initially reserved, she eventually let herself get carried away by the crowd’s enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Chen Jiahui accompanied Isabella to a bar for some dancing, where they ran into Han Junhao. The two danced together, thoroughly enjoying themselves, and even planned to have a drink afterward. However, an unexpected “obstacle,” Ella, showed up midway. Although Han Junhao didn’t know Ella, Chen Jiahui misunderstood and assumed he was a playboy, leaving the bar with Isabella. Frustrated by Ella’s persistence, Han Junhao drove off in anger.
As the day came to an end, Xu Junle personally escorted Mai Youge back, even buying her a late-night snack. Knowing she would soon leave Macau, he felt deeply reluctant but still smiled as he said goodbye. That night, Mai Youge worked tirelessly to finish her proposal and sent it to Wu Kaitong. She quickly received an email requesting a meeting in the conference room, leaving her excited and fully prepared.
However, Xu Junle didn’t receive any message from her, leaving him feeling lost. In the conference room at Starry Sky Hotel, Mai Youge presented her proposal to Senior Vice President Xu Junhao, Wu Kaitong, and others. As she explained her ideas, memories of the past few days with Xu Junle filled her mind. The warmth and humanity reflected in her proposal moved Xu Junhao, who was very impressed. Meanwhile, Yvonne and Chen Jiahui discussed Marlena’s works.
Yvonne remarked that Chen Jiahui and Marlena were completely different. Chen Jiahui was overly protective of herself, always staying in her comfort zone and keeping everything under control. This often made it hard for her to understand Marlena’s genuine creative emotions. Han Junhao, still thinking about Chen Jiahui, used his insomnia as an excuse to visit Zhou Huafu’s Chinese medicine clinic with the matchbox she had given him.
Doctor Huang Zhong, noticing his inner turmoil, performed acupuncture and mistakenly guessed his profession. Coincidentally, Chen Jiahui was in the next room. She also misunderstood, assuming that Han Junhao was there for back problems caused by overindulgence. Before Han Junhao could explain, Chen Jiahui left with her bag. Despite this, Han Junhao learned from Dr. Huang that Chen Jiahui worked at an art gallery connected to the Starry Sky Hotel.
Episode 4 Recap
Mai Youge visited the bustling Zhenqiangji Restaurant, where she was warmly welcomed by the owner, Lao Xu. Upon learning that she was an out-of-town business traveler in Macau, Lao Xu quietly stepped out and bought her a mango dessert. After enjoying her meal, Mai Youge thanked Lao Xu with satisfaction. Not only did she savor the delicious food, but she also felt the warmth and friendliness of the people of Macau.
As she left Zhenqiangji Restaurant, Mai Youge unexpectedly ran into Xu Junle. Their coincidental encounter stirred emotions in both of them. Xu Junle suggested accompanying her on a walk through the streets of Macau to enjoy the vibrant nightscape. Walking side by side, they shared their views on life. Knowing that Mai Youge was returning to Beijing, Xu Junle felt reluctant to see her go and hoped they could explore Macau together again someday.
Sitting on the steps, Mai Youge remarked on the slower pace of life in Macau. Xu Junle responded by saying that money could never be fully earned, and sacrificing one’s life for money was not worth it. Hearing Xu Junle’s words, Mai Youge reflected on her life, constantly striving and never truly finding peace. To her, home felt more like a temporary lodging than a sanctuary.
However, Xu Junle disagreed with her tense and exhausting lifestyle, feeling that she was shackled by work. This difference in perspective led to a disagreement, and they parted on bad terms. As the sun rose, Mai Youge sat in a car, watching the scenery pass by through the window, her emotions in turmoil. Meanwhile, Han Junhao intentionally visited the art gallery, hoping to encounter Chen Jiahui. He paused before a painting hidden behind a sheer white veil.
Seeing this, Chen Jiahui approached him, and the two began discussing their thoughts on the artwork. Isabella secretly snapped a photo of them and sent it to Chen Jiahui, reminding her of Yvonne’s words: if she could experience a passionate, reckless love, she might better understand Marlena’s creative process. Elsewhere, Xu Junhao sought out Wu Kaitong, informing her that she would be accompanying a special guest: Wei Shijie, the son of Ms. Lin, the director of the headquarters’ HR department.
This task was specifically assigned to her by Frank. When Wu Kaitong met Frank, she discovered he was just a young boy. She then arranged an itinerary for him in Macau, reporting to Ms. Lin daily. However, Wei Shijie was unwilling to attend piano lessons. Initially, he thought Wu Kaitong was different from others, but now he felt disappointed and even questioned whether her work had any real meaning.
That night, an exhausted Wu Kaitong returned home and sat on the sofa, pondering Frank’s words. Meanwhile, Mai Youge was cleaning the house and discovered that the food in the fridge had spoiled. Although Wu Kaitong considered asking for a reassignment, she realized that her job appointment was linked to Ms. Lin. Failing to take good care of Frank might jeopardize her career prospects. The next morning, Wu Kaitong changed her approach to dealing with Frank.
Noticing that he disliked attending lessons, she found an excuse to cancel his class and took him to visit an art gallery instead. At the same time, Chen Jiahui received a cake delivered by Han Junhao to the gallery. It was a cake she had long wanted but hadn’t bought due to the long queues. Puzzled, she wondered how Han Junhao knew about her preference.
Unable to find a better way to communicate with the boy, Wu Kaitong sought advice from Chen Jiahui. Chen suggested treating Wei Shijie the same way one might handle a man, as the principles of male psychology often overlap with those of child psychology. Inspired by this advice, Wu Kaitong managed to win Wei Shijie’s favor. At the He Dong Library, Han Junhao showed up uninvited, creating another “coincidental” encounter.
Chen Jiahui saw through his intentions, and Han Junhao took the opportunity to ask about her daily life in Macau, wanting to know more about her. During their conversation, Chen Jiahui revealed that she had been living in Macau for four years and had one year left to fulfill her dream: organizing an art exhibition in collaboration with an artist she admired.
Episode 5 Recap
Chen Jiahui and Han Junhao walked side by side on the streets of Macau, enjoying the quiet of the city at night. Chen Jiahui led Han Junhao to the Guohua Theater, where Han Junhao sat in the audience, but his gaze kept drifting to Chen Jiahui. The atmosphere between them was charged with tension, culminating in them holding hands.
After the performance ended, Han Junhao lit a match for Chen Jiahui to make a wish, and the two shared a romantic kiss under the streetlight. Back at the company, Mai Youge waited for the announcement from General Manager Tong. He informed everyone that the company had secured the Star Harbour Hotel project and reminded Mai Youge’s team to finalize the work visas quickly. As Maggie was still on maternity leave, the team lacked leadership, and morale was low.
When General Manager Tong asked questions, Lao Lang, Xiao Xu, and the others struggled to respond, but at the crucial moment, Mai Youge stepped up and volunteered to go to Macau personally. Later, Mai Youge received a message from her mother urging her to meet her blind date, along with the location details. Mai Youge reluctantly agreed.
Meanwhile, Han Junhao and Chen Jiahui had planned a trip to a water park, enjoying the perfect atmosphere together, until they unexpectedly ran into Chen Jiahui’s ex-boyfriend, Eric. Eric, who had extreme possessiveness and control issues, was jealous of any man around Chen Jiahui, including Han Junhao. He went so far as to slander Chen Jiahui’s casual approach to relationships.
Eric told Han Junhao that his ex-girlfriend, Chen Jiahui, had a rich emotional life and was like water—flowing and never staying for anyone. Eric’s words created a knot in Han Junhao’s heart, making him distant toward Chen Jiahui. The progress they had made in their relationship came to a standstill. Back at the team, Han Junhao threw himself into training, performing well. His teammates urged him to talk if something was on his mind and not to bottle things up.
Meanwhile, Wu Kaitong began to find a way to connect with Wei Shijie. While taking care of him, she also started to understand his inner world. Seeing Wei Shijie playing the piano alone, Wu Kaitong remembered her own childhood when her parents strictly required her to practice. She believed Wei Shijie should stick with it because it’s rare to find a talent, and anyone who does is fortunate.
At that time, Han Junhao ran into his old classmate, Xu Junle, at a car repair shop. The two of them, reunited after a long time, stayed on the bridge and shared stories about their lives. Xu Junle confessed that he had fallen for a girl he might never see again. Han Junhao, also troubled by his feelings, was advised by Xu Junle to seize the moment.
At least the person he liked was in Macau, and if they parted ways later, he would regret it. After handling her business, Mai Youge arrived at the restaurant for the blind date arranged by her mother. Nervously, she met her date, Mu Xiulun. He was polite but distant. After a few exchanges, both of them realized they were being forced into this date by their families, and the atmosphere relaxed.
Mu Xiulun’s views on life and work were strikingly similar to Mai Youge’s, almost like looking in a mirror, which made her miss Xu Junle, far away in Macau. That evening, Chen Jiahui stayed home drinking, feeling down. Mai Youge, on the other hand, was browsing Xu Junle’s social media and couldn’t help but smile at a photo of the sky that he had posted. She downloaded the picture, which lifted her spirits. Xu Junle, looking at their chat history, felt nostalgic. Han Junhao, under the shower, tried to clear his confused thoughts.
Episode 6 Recap
Before heading to Macau, Mai Youge opened Xu Junle's WeChat and hesitated for a moment but ultimately didn’t send him a message. Chen Jiahui was upset because Han Junhao had been ignoring her. Although she wanted to explain herself, she decided to stay silent after realizing how easily Han Junhao’s stance could change after just a few words. Frustrated, she chose to give him the cold shoulder instead.
During a meeting, Casey suddenly received a call from Mike, informing her that Wei Shijie had been hospitalized due to an allergic reaction. When Casey arrived at the hospital, she learned that Wei Shijie’s allergy was intentionally triggered by eating cookies he was allergic to. Wei Shijie didn’t deny it. Casey took full responsibility for the situation. Although Mrs. Lin initially wanted to replace her, Wei Shijie insisted on keeping Casey.
Xu Junhao urged Casey to tell the truth and not act as a scapegoat, assuring her that the hotel would support her. However, Casey insisted the fault was hers. Mai Youge returned to Macau to work on the shooting project for the Starho Hotel. She arranged to scout locations with Xiao Yu, the production coordinator, but was surprised to find Xu Junle waiting for her at the museum instead.
As a gesture of gratitude, Mai Youge offered to treat Xu Junle to a meal at Zhen Qiang Ji. Hearing this, Xu Junle stifled a laugh and accompanied her to the restaurant. Meanwhile, Han Junhao unexpectedly visited Chen Jiahui at the art gallery. The two had a brief conversation and resolved their previous misunderstanding, leading to a date together.
On the other side, Mai Youge introduced Xu Junle to the owner of Zhen Qiang Ji, Xu Zhiqiang, only to discover they were father and son. She also met Xu Junle’s mother, Ah Zhen, and his younger sister, Xu Baoyi, for the first time. Ah Zhen was overjoyed to see her son bring a girl to the restaurant, gossiping with her husband about how this was the first time their son had brought a girl home.
Xu Junle became increasingly curious about Mai Youge’s past. Mai Youge shared that she had always worked hard because her parents taught her to master whatever she learned and excel in whatever she did—or not to bother at all. Over time, this philosophy had shaped her into "Mai Perfect Score. "Meanwhile, Chen Jiahui took Han Junhao to a food stall. While discussing their views on relationships, she candidly admitted that all her relationships had been short-lived.
At first, relationships seemed perfect, as people only showed their best sides. But eventually, their true selves surfaced, and not everyone could accept that unconditionally. She believed it was better to part ways early, preserving good memories, than to drag things out and exhaust the feelings on both sides. Hearing her perspective, Han Junhao realized that Chen Jiahui didn’t believe in love.
In contrast, he firmly believed in love, convinced that true love meant fully understanding someone and still choosing to love them. Anything else, he argued, was merely fleeting attraction or infatuation. Casey visited Wei Shijie in his room and urged him to share his problems with her in the future so they could find solutions together. Wei Shijie was touched and fully trusted Casey after that.
Meanwhile, Han Junhao, while inspecting a racetrack’s curves, thought about Tomoya Dōmoto's impressive race performance last year, wondering how he had managed to execute such a remarkable move. The next morning, Xu Junle took Mai Youge to a lighthouse to enjoy the view. He shared how he had once loved racing but decided to give it up after a serious accident, not wanting to worry his parents and family anymore.
During this outing, Mai Youge was frequently interrupted by work calls. To lighten the mood, Xu Junle mimicked her way of answering calls and even borrowed a guitar to play and sing for her. At the same time, Chen Jiahui took Han Junhao on a bike ride to the mountain to watch the sunset they had missed the last time. As the sun set, Chen Jiahui rested her hand on Han Junhao’s shoulder. Sharing the same pair of earphones, they danced together, their romantic gestures creating a sweet and memorable moment.
Episode 7 Recap
As evening approached, Chen Jiahui and Han Junhao were caught in a sudden downpour as they descended from the mountain. They ran to a nearby shelter to wait out the rain. Chen Jiahui, on a whim, pulled Han Junhao to walk in the rain with her. They eventually arrived at an art studio, where Chen Jiahui gazed at the rainy scenery and made a romantic confession. The chemistry between them grew, leading to an uncontrollable kiss.
Early the next morning, Han Junhao drove Chen Jiahui home on his motorcycle. Wu Kaitong noticed Wei Shijie sitting alone by the pool, staring blankly as other children his age played together. He showed no interest in joining them. Curious, Wu Kaitong asked if he wanted to make friends. Wei Shijie, having learned that Wu Kaitong had taken the blame for the allergy incident, began to trust her and saw her as a friend. Wu Kaitong, however, felt conflicted.
After all, she was simply doing her job and did not want to exploit his trust. In Wu Kaitong’s eyes, she and Wei Shijie were alike—both found it hard to trust others, and once they opened their hearts and were hurt, maintaining the relationship became almost impossible. Wu Kaitong later confided her worries to Chen Jiahui and subtly explained to Wei Shijie that she couldn’t accompany him to see the ocean or be his friend.
She admitted that everything she had done was for her job and to gain favor with Ms. Lin, hoping to secure a transfer to the United States. Xu Junle and Mai Youge took a bus ride around the old city of Macau, enjoying the view through the window. Xu Junle cautiously asked Mai Youge if she missed Macau, hinting at whether she missed him. Mai Youge, in turn, was curious about Xu Junle’s views on love and his ideal partner.
Xu Junle openly shared that he hoped to love someone who could also be his best friend, someone with their own interests but willing to explore new experiences together. He believed that such a relationship would only deepen with time rather than fade away. Afterward, Xu Junle took Mai Youge to a nearby market. The warmth and hospitality of the locals surprised Mai Youge, making her nostalgic for her hometown and the precious moments she had shared with her grandmother.
Noticing her slight sadness, Xu Junle sat with her on a bench and comforted her with kind words. That evening, Mai Youge contacted the filming crew to prepare for the first day of shooting. Given the complex filming regulations in Macau, strict compliance was necessary. Xu Junle immediately reached out to a friend and secured a camera lens to help Mai Youge resolve an urgent issue. Their seamless collaboration during work felt like that of longtime partners.
Han Junhao, suffering from neck discomfort, was brought by Chen Jiahui to Huang Zhong’s therapy center. With his exceptional skills, Huang Zhong quickly resolved the issue. During the session, Han Junhao continuously tested the waters regarding his relationship with Chen Jiahui, making sweet and ambiguous remarks that brought a growing smile to her face. The eldest son, Xu Junhao, accompanied his mother for some exercise and inquired about his father’s health.
He suggested that, given his father’s age, it might be time to consider selling Zhenqiangji. Aunt Zhen, hearing that Xu Junhao had a girlfriend, was overjoyed and gossiped about how Xu Junle seemed to have a girl he was acquainted with as well. Due to Wu Kaitong’s leave of absence, Mandy temporarily took over Wei Shijie’s itinerary. Wei Shijie seemed unhappy and frequently inquired about Wu Kaitong’s condition.
Meanwhile, Wu Kaitong suffered from a bout of gastritis but didn’t inform anyone, enduring it alone in the hospital. She was stunned to see Wei Shijie appear at her hospital room door, feeling both touched and uncertain. Seeing Wu Kaitong’s lonely state, Wei Shijie stayed by her side, and as he heard her talking in her sleep, his emotions grew increasingly complicated.
Episode 8 Recap
As evening approached, Chen Jiahui and Han Junhao were caught in a sudden downpour while descending from the mountaintop. They ran to a nearby spot to take shelter from the rain. On a whim, Chen Jiahui pulled Han Junhao out for a walk in the rain, and they eventually arrived at an art studio. There, amidst the rainy scenery, Chen Jiahui made a romantic confession. The connection in their gazes sparked undeniable chemistry, leading them to share a passionate kiss.
It wasn’t until the following morning that Han Junhao rode his motorcycle to take Chen Jiahui home. Wu Kaitong noticed Wei Shijie sitting by the pool, lost in thought, as other children his age played together. He seemed uninterested in joining them. Curious, Wu Kaitong asked if he wanted to make friends. Wei Shijie, learning that Wu Kaitong had taken responsibility for the allergy incident, began to see her as a trustworthy friend.
However, this left Wu Kaitong feeling conflicted, as she believed she should not take advantage of him just because of her job. In Wu Kaitong's view, she and Wei Shijie were alike—both found it difficult to trust others. Once they gave their hearts and were hurt, it became nearly impossible to maintain the relationship.
Later, Wu Kaitong confided her troubles to Chen Jiahui and tactfully explained to Wei Shijie that she couldn’t accompany him to see the ocean or be his friend. She revealed that everything she had done was for work, trying to please Ms. Lin in hopes of being transferred to the United States. Xu Junle and Mai Youge took a bus ride around Macau’s old city, admiring the views through the windows.
Xu Junle cautiously asked if Mai Youge missed Macau, subtly hinting at whether she missed him. Meanwhile, Mai Youge was curious about Xu Junle’s views on love, or more specifically, his ideal partner. Xu Junle openly expressed that he hoped to love someone who could also be his best friend—someone with their own hobbies yet willing to explore new experiences together. He believed such a relationship would only deepen over time.
Afterward, Xu Junle took Mai Youge to explore a nearby market. The warmth of the locals left Mai Youge pleasantly surprised and nostalgic for her hometown and her happy memories with her grandmother. Sensing her slight sadness, Xu Junle sat with her on a bench and comforted her with his words. That evening, Mai Youge contacted the filming crew to prepare for the first day of shooting. Due to Macau's complex filming regulations, strict compliance was required.
Xu Junle immediately called a friend to secure a camera lens, helping Mai Youge resolve an urgent issue. Their collaboration on set was seamless, akin to that of longtime partners. Han Junhao, suffering from neck discomfort, was brought by Chen Jiahui to Huang Zhong’s therapy clinic. Huang Zhong’s exceptional skills quickly resolved the problem.
During their conversation, Han Junhao repeatedly tested the boundaries of their relationship, making sweet and ambiguous remarks that brought an increasingly bright smile to Chen Jiahui’s face. The eldest son, Xu Junhao, accompanied his mother for exercise and inquired about his father’s health. He suggested it might be time to consider selling Zhenqiangji, given his father’s age.
Aunt Zhen, hearing that Xu Junhao had a girlfriend, was overjoyed and playfully brought up how Xu Junle seemed to be acquainted with a girl as well. Due to Wu Kaitong’s leave of absence, Mandy temporarily took over Wei Shijie’s schedule. Wei Shijie appeared downcast and frequently asked about Wu Kaitong. Meanwhile, Wu Kaitong experienced a bout of gastritis but didn’t inform anyone, enduring it alone in the hospital.
She was stunned to see Wei Shijie appear at her hospital room door, feeling both touched and uncertain. Wei Shijie, seeing her lonely state, stayed by her side, listening as she murmured in her sleep, his emotions becoming increasingly complex. Chen Jiahui and Han Junhao walked through a bustling night market, sampling various delicious snacks. Chen Jiahui invited Han Junhao to attend a friend’s gallery opening with her. Curious, Han Junhao asked what role he should assume for the event.
Chen Jiahui jokingly offered many identities—except for “boyfriend. ” The two laughed and chatted happily. The first day of shooting went smoothly. Mai Youge suggested celebrating at Zhenqiangji with Xu Junle. While serving food at the restaurant, Aunt Zhen overheard Brother Yong joking that the dishes were overly salty today and teasing that Xu Zhiqiang needed to train his apprentice better. Aunt Zhen, however, knew her husband always personally cooked Brother Yong’s food and grew concerned about her husband’s condition.
While chatting with Xu Zhiqiang, Mai Youge learned that he insisted on running the restaurant to serve the neighborhood regulars, which is why he hadn’t accepted an acquisition offer from Hong Kong businessmen. Seeing the community’s support for Zhenqiangji, Xu Zhiqiang became even more determined to perfect his dishes and ensure everyone left satisfied.
After dinner, Mai Youge received a call from Maggie, learning that the company had suddenly reassigned the Starworld project to a new client manager, Wu Anmei, who happened to be the supervisor’s relative. Mai Youge was frustrated by the change and wanted to continue handling the project but was cut off by Maggie, who refused to listen. The next day, the crew ordered takeout from Zhenqiangji, but the flavors were unexpectedly heavy.
Both Mai Youge and Xu Junle found it strange, thinking the chef might have changed. At the same time, Mai Youge met Wu Anmei, the new client manager for the project. Due to a lack of proper handover, Wu Anmei was unfamiliar with the shooting plan and Macau’s filming regulations. This led to coordination issues and a series of problems during the shoot. Xu Junhao criticized the situation.
Just as Mai Youge repeatedly apologized, Xu Junle approached and greeted his elder brother. This revealed to Xu Junhao that Mai Youge was the "client-side girl" their mother had mentioned. Meanwhile, Mai Youge discovered that Xu Junhao and Xu Junle were brothers. The coincidence left the three of them amused. Xu Junhao reminded Xu Junle to return home for dinner. At the family meal, Xu Junle met Xu Junhao’s girlfriend, Xu Jiajia, for the first time.
During the meal, Xu Junhao announced his plans to get married. However, Xu Zhiqiang was skeptical, believing marriage wasn’t something to take lightly and that the relationship might be rushed. Frustrated, Xu Zhiqiang left the table, while Aunt Zhen reassured Xu Junhao and Xu Jiajia that marriage was their decision and not to overthink it. Later, the children discovered that Xu Zhiqiang had been secretly taking medication for taste disorders.
Xu Junhao questioned why his father insisted on running the restaurant despite his health. Xu Junle, however, understood his father’s true intentions. Wei Shijie personally picked Wu Kaitong up from the hospital and took her to eat pig’s trotters with ginger at a street stall because he had remembered her mentioning it in her sleep. This gesture deeply moved Wu Kaitong.
Meanwhile, Mai Youge tried contacting Maggie again, hoping to continue overseeing the Starworld project to avoid further issues, but Maggie remained unyielding. At Michelle’s gallery opening, Chen Jiahui, with her outgoing and confident personality, captured the attention of many artists and peers. However, her success sparked jealousy from art critic Matthew, who sarcastically accused her of focusing too much on romance and mocked Han Junhao’s career as a racer.
Considering Han Junhao’s feelings, Chen Jiahui immediately defended him, leaving Matthew speechless. Han Junhao was touched by Chen Jiahui’s protective gesture, feeling a warmth in his heart.
Episode 9 Recap
Han Junhao and Chen Jiahui's relationship has rapidly deepened. After dropping Chen Jiahui off at her apartment building, Han Junhao suggested going upstairs for a visit. Chen Jiahui didn’t refuse and brought Han Junhao home, showing him her little personal space and art creations. In the kitchen, Han Junhao made spaghetti for Chen Jiahui, and the two shared a meal while singing in a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Han Junhao encouraged Chen Jiahui to hold an art exhibition, and Chen Jiahui felt that he truly understood her feelings, creating a strong emotional connection between them. Meanwhile, client manager Wu Anmei violated filming regulations during an outdoor shoot by failing to obtain prior approval for street scenes, resulting in complaints and police involvement. Upon learning about it, Mai Youge proactively approached Wu Anmei to discuss halting the shoot.
However, Wu Anmei insisted on filming the residential buildings, infuriating Mai Youge, who immediately ordered the promotional video production to stop. Wu Anmei reacted by confronting Mai Youge, leading to a heated argument. Xu Junhao called Mai Youge to understand the situation, warning her that the shoot was now in violation of regulations and that the government could shut down the entire project at any moment.
Mai Youge again ordered the team to withdraw from the shoot and warned Wu Anmei to discuss any issues later. Xu Junle arrived just in time to witness the tension. On another front, Han Junhao continued his steady performance in team training, impressing everyone. However, at a critical moment, he made a mistake, leaving him feeling deeply frustrated. Chen Jiahui visited the training site again and noticed the somber atmosphere.
The team manager, Charles, informed her that Han Junhao had driven off the track during training but was fortunately unharmed. Hearing this, Chen Jiahui felt relieved. Charles, concerned about Han Junhao’s condition, confided in Chen Jiahui. Understanding Han Junhao’s personality, Chen Jiahui knew that comforting him in such moments might make him feel pitied as a weakling. Instead, she decided to surprise him, giving him a little scare. They then went out for a relaxing break at a bowling alley.
To lift his spirits, Chen Jiahui pretended to make mistakes while bowling, indirectly encouraging Han Junhao, which deeply moved him. After the halted shoot, Mai Youge worked hard to explain the situation to the local residents, but the language barrier made communication difficult. Luckily, Xu Junle arrived in time to help Mai Youge explain everything. Mai Youge also took the initiative to communicate with the director, collaborating to handle the aftermath.
The rest of the team believed that a fixed person should oversee the shoot because, under the current circumstances, continuing was inappropriate. Unwilling to accept the situation, Wu Anmei independently reported to Maggy and warned Mai Youge to wait for further consequences. Mai Youge, however, refused to tolerate it any longer, harshly criticizing Wu Anmei’s actions for causing the entire team to stagnate.
She pointed out that it disrupted the filming schedule, leading to delays and budget overruns, and negatively impacted the team’s professionalism in the eyes of the client. Wei Shijie took Wu Kaitong go-karting and even prepared suitable shoes for her. Feeling moved by his thoughtfulness, Wu Kaitong started out nervously but gradually became more confident, thoroughly enjoying herself with Wei Shijie.
During the outing, Wu Kaitong shared stories about her strict upbringing, where she was never allowed to visit amusement parks or watch the cartoons she wanted. Her days were filled with studying, piano practice, and strict rules, and even minor mistakes led to being confined to her room for reflection. Seeing Wu Kaitong open up, Wei Shijie took her to an aquarium, where she felt like one of the sea creatures trapped inside.
With Wei Shijie’s encouragement, Wu Kaitong regained her radiant smile, feeling as though she had finally broken free from the constraints of her past. Han Junhao brought Chen Jiahui to the Grand Prix Museum, where he introduced her to his idol, Ayrton Senna. It was only then that Chen Jiahui realized that Han Junhao's relentless pursuit of championships wasn’t just for himself—he was also eager to prove the strength of Chinese race car drivers to the world.
Episode 10 Recap
After leaving the aquarium, Wu Kaitong took Wei Shijie to a vintage clothing store, which piqued Wei Shijie’s interest. The two tried on various outfits and costumes in the store, enjoying themselves immensely. In the end, they each purchased a set of clothing that suited them and took a photo together to commemorate the outing.
A-Zhen, hoping to mend the relationship between father and son, invited her eldest son, Xu Junhao, to the house to have a proper conversation with Xu Zhiqiang. Xu Junhao admitted that he had not informed them in advance, which made the announcement of his engagement seem rushed and impulsive. He also understood Xu Zhiqiang's perspective—that his father wanted him to prepare the wedding more thoughtfully.
However, Xu Junhao and his fiancée valued their emotions and long-term commitment over the ceremonial aspects. Despite this explanation, Xu Zhiqiang remained upset and couldn’t understand his son’s perspective. Xu Junhao expressed frustration that his father had devoted all his energy to running Zhenqiang Ji without paying much attention to him. He pointed out that even at his age, his father hadn’t considered retiring or living a more comfortable life.
When Xu Junhao mentioned the idea of selling Zhenqiang Ji, Xu Zhiqiang abruptly ended the conversation. Later, Xu Junle received a call from A-Zhen and learned that the disagreement between Xu Junhao and Xu Zhiqiang had escalated from the wedding to the issue of running Zhenqiang Ji, ending in another argument. After resolving work matters, Mai Youge brought Xu Junle to the lakeside for a heartfelt conversation.
Xu Junle admitted that he was the most suitable candidate to take over Zhenqiang Ji, but he doubted his ability to manage it well and feared ruining his father’s legacy. Mai Youge patiently reassured him, helping him realize his strengths and giving him a sense of calm and confidence. Before long, General Manager Tong received Mai Youge’s feedback on the situation and immediately flew to Macau to meet with Xu Junhao of Starshine.
On behalf of the company, Tong apologized for the incident and quickly presented a solution: Mai Youge would continue to oversee the hotel promotional video, while client manager Wu Anmei would be reassigned to Beijing. Xu Junle later approached Xu Junhao, urging him to have another conversation with their father and advising him not to be too rigid, given their father’s age and unchangeable personality.
Following Xu Junle’s suggestion, Xu Junhao returned to Zhenqiang Ji, a place he hadn’t set foot in for years, to talk with Xu Zhiqiang again. During the discussion, Xu Junhao finally aired his long-held grievances. Initially, Xu Zhiqiang stubbornly defended himself, but as he listened, he began to acknowledge his son’s perspective. He realized that he had indeed pushed the family forward relentlessly for the sake of Zhenqiang Ji, perhaps for too long, and it might be time to stop.
Although Xu Zhiqiang agreed with Xu Junhao in his heart, he remained verbally defensive and didn’t immediately admit it. Xu Junhao, on the other hand, didn’t expect to resolve everything in a single conversation, but he did feel much more at ease, just as Xu Junle had said, after expressing his true feelings. On a flight from Beijing to Macau, Professor Xu Jianming and his new wife, Li Meng, happened to encounter his ex-wife, Tang Wei.
Both Xu Jianming and Tang Wei were traveling to Macau to visit their daughter, Xu Jiajia. However, the atmosphere was awkward since Li Meng was Xu Jianming’s former student. During the flight, Xu Jianming tried to strike up a conversation with Tang Wei by talking about their daughter, but Tang Wei responded evasively. Noticing that Li Meng was sitting next to Xu Jianming, Tang Wei switched seats with her.
Thanks to Xu Junle’s support, the filming progress under Mai Youge’s leadership improved significantly, and her mood brightened as a result. Later, Xu Junle visited Zhenqiang Ji and proactively asked to work in the kitchen, requesting Xu Zhiqiang to guide him in cooking. Xu Junle’s earnestness moved Xu Zhiqiang, who felt a mix of pride and guilt as he saw how much his two children had grown and changed.
Episode 11 Recap
Because of Wu Kaitong's work, Wei Shijie suggested they participate in a parent-child sports day together, which took her by surprise. Meanwhile, a flight from Beijing to Macau landed, and Xu Jiajia personally came to the airport to pick up her parents, but Xu Junhao was notably absent. On the way back, Tang Wei curiously asked about her daughter’s boyfriend, surprised that she even had time for a relationship.
Xu Jiajia reassured her that they would meet him later at the hotel. Isabella recently started dating a race car mechanic. When she mentioned how European racing far surpasses that in China, Chen Jiahui couldn’t help but refute her, subtly defending Han Junhao. At that moment, Wu Kaitong arrived at the art gallery to see Chen Jiahui and was surprised to learn that Chen Jiahui was dating Han Junhao.
Not wanting Isabella to gossip too much, Chen Jiahui used a work-related excuse to leave with Wu Kaitong. Later, Han Junhao, accompanied by his team manager, Charles, personally attended the pre-race drivers' meeting to draw lots for their starting positions in the qualifying race. Before the meeting began, Han Junhao was largely ignored, forming a stark contrast to Tangben Doushen, who was surrounded by admirers.
Though Tangben Doushen did not openly provoke Han Junhao, his attitude made it clear that he didn’t regard Han Junhao as a competitor. Han Junhao worked hard to stay calm and not let his emotions get the better of him. After the meeting, Han Junhao reached out to Chen Jiahui and suggested going somewhere to unwind.
To his surprise, Chen Jiahui took him to a cemetery and began sharing stories about the lives and identities of the people behind the gravestones. She told Han Junhao that everyone lives in the shadow of death, so they should live more freely and treat life as a vast playground, without the need to achieve perfection in everything. Chen Jiahui understood how important victory was to Han Junhao but reminded him that not all endings are predetermined.
Life’s experiences, whether good or bad, are meant to be lived, and they will eventually pass. That evening, Xu Jiajia reserved a table at a restaurant. Tang Wei, Xu Jianming, and Li Meng were already seated when Xu Junhao arrived late, which annoyed Xu Jianming. Tang Wei’s first impression of Xu Junhao was decent, but Xu Jianming deliberately tested him with probing questions about his family and remained cold toward him.
Thankfully, Tang Wei kept the atmosphere lively enough to prevent things from becoming too awkward. During the meal, Xu Jianming suddenly proposed drinking, and Tang Wei, noticing his intent, skillfully defused the situation. Her ability to manage Xu Jianming’s domineering nature and need for control was something Li Meng had never dared to imagine. However, Xu Junhao accidentally revealed the upcoming wedding, which Tang Wei didn’t mind, as she was unbothered by the idea of a quick marriage.
In contrast, Xu Jianming was furious, and once back in his room, he angrily ranted that Xu Junhao wasn’t good enough for his daughter and that Xu Jiajia would regret marrying him. Because of this, Xu Jianming took the initiative to speak with Tang Wei, seeking her opinion on Xu Jiajia’s sudden marriage. Compared to Xu Jianming’s agitation, Tang Wei remained composed, expressing her preference to have an in-depth conversation with their daughter before forming any judgments.
Xu Jianming, however, complained that Tang Wei was always too preoccupied with work to notice their children, to the point where she didn’t even know Xu Jiajia was about to get married. Hearing Xu Jianming’s grievances, Tang Wei couldn’t be bothered to argue and left the room. Feeling hurt by Tang Wei’s indifferent attitude, Xu Jianming drank heavily downstairs and eventually became completely drunk. Li Meng rushed to help him back to his room.
In his drunken state, Xu Jianming revealed his long-standing feelings for Tang Wei, leaving Li Meng, his current wife, feeling like an outsider and deeply unsettled.
Episode 12 Recap
To secure a collaboration with Chloe, Wu Kaitong brought Wei Shijie along to participate in a parent-child activity to get closer to her. At the same time, others had the same idea. During the activity, Chloe’s lack of understanding of her daughter, Tiantian, was evident. She often overlooked Tiantian’s feelings and even lacked the rapport Wu Kaitong and Wei Shijie displayed during the games, leaving her a bit disheartened.
Noticing this, Wu Kaitong comforted Chloe, saying that children are often more perceptive than adults and can be incredibly attentive. She suddenly proposed an idea: what if the exhibition invited children as volunteers to share their feelings about the artwork from their perspective? This would allow people to hear children’s voices more often. Chloe found this idea very intriguing. After waking up from a hangover, Xu Jianming, despite his dissatisfaction with his daughter’s sudden marriage, didn’t want to confront her directly.
Instead, he contacted Xu Junhao to learn more about his future son-in-law. Later, Xu Jianming met with Xu Junhao, bringing several bottles of liquor with him, determined to drink with him that day. Meanwhile, Xu Jiajia arranged to meet her mother, Tang Wei, to explain her flash marriage. She shared the story of how she and Xu Junhao met. Although their first impressions of each other weren’t great, they gradually realized how remarkable the other was.
Over time, they discovered that they were exactly what the other had been looking for, and the decision to get married was not made on impulse. When Xu Jianming met Xu Junhao, he made it clear he was there to test him as a future son-in-law. Xu Junhao handled the situation calmly, and the two men ended up getting along surprisingly well.
Xu Junhao expressed his understanding of the importance of marriage and his respect for Xu Jianming’s concerns as a father. He assured Xu Jianming that he regarded Xu Jiajia as his soulmate and was committed to her. This slightly improved Xu Jianming’s opinion of him. On the other side, Xu Jiajia expressed her love for Xu Junhao to Tang Wei and shared her hopes for their future marriage. She also talked about Xu Junhao’s proposal and their plans moving forward.
Tang Wei, however, reminded her to carefully consider the responsibilities and daily realities of marriage, as it involves more than just love. Although Tang Wei had reservations and concerns about her daughter’s decision, she ultimately respected and supported it. She had never seen her daughter so serious and focused when discussing a man, which made it clear that Xu Jiajia was deeply in love.
After dropping Wei Shijie off at his class, Wu Kaitong went to the gallery to discuss the exhibition with Chen Jiahui. Yvonne noticed Chen Jiahui’s radiant smile, like a young girl in love. Chen Jiahui didn’t deny it and began to understand Marilyn’s feelings. At that moment, Chen Jiahui received a package from Han Junhao, inviting her to attend a banquet with him. She happily agreed and messaged him back. Meanwhile, Xu Junle was juggling three jobs daily.
In addition to assisting Mai Youge with filming, he was learning cooking from Xu Zhiqiang and constantly mediating conflicts between Xu Zhiqiang and Xu Junhao. Noticing Xu Junle’s exhaustion, with visible dark circles under his eyes, Mai Youge offered to be his confidant and listen to him vent. Even the director noticed their unusual closeness and tried to pair them up. Wei Shijie’s original music compositions were moving and heartfelt.
He shared his inspiration with Wu Kaitong, explaining that music is meant to express emotions, while flashy techniques fail to convey true feelings. Wu Kaitong told Wei Shijie that everyone has things they don’t want to do but must. Wei Shijie offered to accompany her on her journey. Since arriving in Macau, Xu Jianming had been focused entirely on his daughter, leaving no time for his wife, Li Meng.
Feeling lonely, Li Meng sought Xu Jiajia’s help in finding places to explore. Xu Jiajia accompanied Li Meng on a shopping trip and a chat, realizing that Li Meng had a people-pleasing personality in her marriage. Xu Jianming never considered her feelings, so Xu Jiajia encouraged her to prioritize herself more in the future.
Episode 13 Recap
On the day of the banquet, Chen Jiahui dressed up meticulously at home. Han Junhao arrived early to pick her up and was dazzled by her stunning appearance. Chen Jiahui attended the jewelry brand's banquet as Han Junhao's girlfriend, where he introduced her to Mr. Qi, a sponsor. Their interaction left a great impression on Mr. Qi. Tomoto Dozhen, witnessing this scene, felt a surge of jealousy.
While Han Junhao was busy greeting others, Tomoto Dozhen approached Chen Jiahui and struck up a conversation. During their chat, he deliberately insinuated that Han Junhao’s romantic relationship with her was primarily to secure brand sponsorships and enhance his public image, implying that she might be getting used by him. Though Chen Jiahui didn’t want to believe it, Tomoto Dozhen’s arguments were plausible, especially considering Mr. Qi’s presence, which shook her trust in the relationship.
Struggling to suppress her emotions, Chen Jiahui left the banquet alone and texted Han Junhao, asking him to focus on his competition. She declined his calls. After wrapping up a day of filming, Xu Junle took Mai Youge to the Guia Lighthouse again, but this time to enjoy the night view. They sneaked past the lighthouse caretaker and climbed to the top.
Under the moonlit sky, the distance between them grew smaller until Xu Junle leaned in and kissed Mai Youge. Xu Junle finally confessed his feelings for Mai Youge. However, after regaining her composure, Mai Youge decisively rejected him. Xu Junle admitted his feelings but also acknowledged that emotions couldn’t resolve the practical issues they faced. Once her work in Macau ended, Mai Youge planned to return to Beijing, and a relationship was beyond her plans.
Xu Junle, meanwhile, had his career and family responsibilities in Macau. Despite her rejection, Xu Junle didn’t agree with Mai Youge’s reasoning. He sincerely hoped she could let go of external constraints, live according to her true feelings, and cherish the present, even if it meant rejecting him. Mai Youge, however, was thinking far ahead, constrained by the realities of adulthood. Neither could convince the other, leaving their relationship at an impasse.
On the way back, Xu Junle ran into Han Junhao. As two men troubled by love, they confided in each other and discussed their views on relationships. Han Junhao shared a story about love: One day, Socrates asked Plato a question and told him to walk through a wheat field and pick the most perfect stalk of wheat without turning back. Plato obeyed but returned empty-handed.
He had come across the most perfect and full stalk early on but didn’t pick it, thinking he might find a better one later. In the end, near the field’s edge, he realized none surpassed the first, missing his best chance. Early the next morning, Xu Jianming woke up as usual and called for Li Meng to pour him water, only to discover she was out exploring and taking photos at nearby attractions.
Without her care, Xu Jianming found himself flustered in the hotel room—unable to locate his razor or open the password lock on his suitcase. Frustrated, he sent Li Meng several voice messages filled with complaints. Wu Kaitong, accompanied by Wei Shijie, returned home. She greeted her mother stiffly before heading to her bedroom to visit her grandmother, whom she had missed dearly. Unfortunately, her grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s, no longer recognized her.
Even when Wu Kaitong sang old songs from her childhood, her grandmother only responded faintly, recalling her as the little girl she once was. Realizing her grandmother couldn’t remember her, Wu Kaitong was heartbroken and crouched down in front of her, crying in sorrow.
Episode 14 Recap
Chen Jiahui’s friend, Isabella, noticed her low spirits and approached to check on her, learning about her emotional struggles. Chen Jiahui confided in Isabella that she had never felt so heartbroken in a relationship. She admitted that the most realistic problem they faced was that neither of them could give up everything for the other. Feeling that they should not continue the relationship, she had made the difficult decision to end it.
Meanwhile, Wu Kaitong accompanied Wei Shijie to a meal with her parents. During dinner, her mother pried into Wei Shijie’s background. Wu Kaitong’s reluctance to elaborate irritated her mother, who accused her of becoming ungrateful and heartless after achieving success. As the mother and daughter argued, her father silently ate, showing no interest, as if he were a stranger.
Wu Kaitong revealed that years ago, she had battled cancer and had to undergo a hysterectomy, making her unable to have children. Even with this revelation, her father remained indifferent and dismissive, which gave Wu Kaitong the courage to speak her mind and lay bare the family’s issues. She expressed that there was no love in their home, only self-interest. Her mother, burdened by her father’s irresponsibility, had taken out her resentment on the children, causing Wu Kaitong immense pain.
Wu Kaitong had hoped her father would at least show some emotion after hearing this, but he remained cold and unresponsive. After leaving home, Wu Kaitong sat outside, crying in sorrow. She mocked herself for still feeling hurt by their words, despite having no expectations of them. She felt like the powerless little girl she used to be.
To lift her spirits, Wei Shijie took her out for some fun and encouraged her to vent her emotions, which eventually helped her feel much better. Tang Wei arranged a meeting with her client, Zhao Linsen, at a coffee shop and unexpectedly ran into Xu Jianming, who was there to meet a student. However, Tang Wei’s discussion with Zhao Linsen did not go smoothly, as he seemed uninterested.
Just when she thought the deal was doomed, she discovered that Zhao Linsen was one of Xu Jianming’s students. The two men hit it off in conversation, which led to Zhao Linsen agreeing to collaborate with Tang Wei. This incident improved the relationship between Tang Wei and Xu Jianming. They walked back together, reminiscing about the past. Tang Wei mentioned that she sometimes wondered if her life would have been different had they not divorced.
As they spoke, Tang Wei’s capable assistant, Chen Shiyu, suddenly appeared, thoughtfully carrying her bag and coat. When Xu Jianming learned that Chen Shiyu had worked for Tang Wei for five years without dating anyone, he suspected that Chen Shiyu had feelings for her. After a full day of filming, Mai Youge realized that Xu Junle had been quietly waiting nearby the entire time, which stirred complex emotions within her.
Meanwhile, at the hotel entrance, Xu Jianming encountered Li Meng as she returned, looking dejected. He hurried after her but still failed to grasp her true thoughts and feelings. Ms. Lin was preparing to visit Macau to watch Wei Shijie’s performance. However, Wei Shijie disliked the piece his mother had chosen for him. Wu Kaitong comforted him, suggesting that he try to play the piece with emotion, as even formulaic music could carry feelings.
Since Mai Youge had rejected Xu Junle, their interactions had become awkward, and Xu Junle spent most of his time communicating with the team’s staff. On the first day of the Macau GT Cup finals, Han Junhao performed brilliantly at the start of the race, with Tomoto Dozhen close behind, once again making them rivals for the championship. Unfortunately, midway through the race, Han Junhao was involved in a collision, severely damaging his car.
Although his team worked hard to repair it, the extent of the damage cast doubt on his chances of continuing in the competition. When Chen Jiahui learned about the accident, she rushed to the racetrack but was stopped outside by staff. After confirming that Han Junhao was not in life-threatening danger, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. She thought about sending him a message but, after hesitating for a long time, decided to delete it.
Episode 15 Recap
Because both families were meeting for the first time, Xu Zhiqiang and his wife went to the market early to prepare for welcoming their future in-laws. Tang Wei and Xu Jianming arrived at the Xu household and met Xu Junhao's younger siblings, Xu Junle and Xu Baoyi, for the first time. Although there were occasional language barriers, the overall atmosphere was pleasant. During dinner, Tang Wei brought Xu Zhiqiang Tibetan medicine to treat his back pain.
Xu Zhiqiang initially thought it was arranged by Xu Jiajia, but to his surprise, it was actually Xu Junhao who told Xu Jiajia about it. As the conversation progressed, the Xu and Xu families transitioned from initial formality and probing to a genuine, warm chat. Xu Jiajia's parents were impressed by the Xu family's solid background—Xu Zhiqiang’s reliability, Ah Zhen’s open-mindedness, and their talented children—and felt confident entrusting their daughter to this family.
However, Tang Wei had some concerns, mainly about her daughter's inability to understand Cantonese. The Xu family frequently switched to their dialect during conversations, making it hard for her daughter to participate, which led Tang Wei to worry whether Xu Jiajia could integrate into this family. To express her sincerity, Ah Zhen gave Xu Jiajia an emerald ring passed down from her mother-in-law. Touched by the Xu family's enthusiasm, Tang Wei ultimately agreed to the marriage between the young couple.
On the way home, Tang Wei shared her concerns with Xu Jianming again. Xu Jianming understood her worries and decided to spend more time interacting with the Xu family in the coming weeks. On the other hand, Xu Zhiqiang and Ah Zhen also sensed the concerns of Xu Jiajia's parents and planned to invite them out for another discussion.
Ah Zhen, delighted by her youngest son’s interest in learning to cook and her husband's decision to retire and stay at home, felt a great sense of joy. Tang Wei wanted to suggest that Xu Jianming participate in a variety show organized by an entertainment company. However, before she could finish speaking, Xu Jianming misunderstood her intentions, thinking she wanted to reconcile and remarry, and immediately rejected her.
Although Xu Jianming still had lingering feelings for Tang Wei, he knew they could not go back to how things were. When Tang Wei heard about Xu Jianming’s relationship troubles with Li Meng, she suppressed her own feelings and shared advice from her experience on how to make amends with a partner. Meanwhile, Xu Junle was heartbroken over his struggles with Mai Youge, especially with her impending departure from Macau.
Seeing her son’s sadness, Ah Zhen comforted him and encouraged him to share his true feelings. She reminded him that he and Mai Youge came from different places, with distinct life experiences and lifestyles, and advised him to consider things from her perspective. After all, love also depends on fate. On the second day of the Grand Prix final, everyone was still working tirelessly to repair Han Junhao's car, but luck was not on his side.
Han Junhao sat despondently outside the repair room, his head hanging low, unsure of how to face the situation. The team manager consoled him, suggesting he rest for now, though even the manager wasn’t sure if the car could be fully repaired by the next day. Chen Jiahui sat by her window, watching the heavy rain and reflecting on her memories with Han Junhao. By dawn, she had finally made up her mind.
While the team was racing against time to repair the car, Han Junhao grew increasingly anxious. Suddenly, he saw Chen Jiahui arrive at the repair room, leaving him stunned. Han Junhao didn’t want Chen Jiahui to see his vulnerable side and was afraid of disappointing everyone. However, Chen Jiahui held his hand and reassured him, saying that the race hadn’t started yet, and as long as it wasn’t over, there was still hope.
She urged him to trust his team and himself, promising to stand by his side and face everything together. With Chen Jiahui’s encouragement, Han Junhao drove the not-fully-repaired car onto the track. The race was lively and intense, with over twenty cars competing fiercely. Han Junhao and Tomoto Dozhen stayed at the forefront, but Han Junhao soon widened the gap, maintaining his lead in first place.
Episode 16 Recap
The race continued with intense competition. Tomoto Dozhen stayed right behind Han Junhao, searching for an opportunity to overtake. The time gap between the two was only one second. Despite a leaking and smoking steering system, Han Junhao maintained his lead at top speed. The constant smoke from his car left the audience and live-stream viewers on edge. Chen Jiahui, in particular, was beside herself with worry, her eyes brimming with tears, deeply concerned for Han Junhao’s safety.
Han Junhao's extraordinary performance pushed his speed even higher, and Tomoto Dozhen’s repeated overtaking attempts failed. However, the worsening car malfunction became increasingly alarming. The team monitoring backstage urged Han Junhao to stop, but instead, he stepped on the accelerator and sped up. In the end, he crossed the finish line in the smoking car, winning the championship. At that moment, everyone erupted into cheers for Han Junhao. Chen Jiahui was overjoyed, tears streaming down her face.
As Han Junhao stood on the podium, the crowd chanted his name. Among the spectators, Mai Youge and Xu Junle were genuinely happy for him, but Chen Jiahui, who had witnessed everything, quietly left before the celebration ended. After receiving his award, Han Junhao eagerly called Chen Jiahui, but no one answered. Xu Junle and Mai Youge congratulated him and handed him an invitation card for his elder brother Xu Junhao's wedding.
Looking at the card design, Han Junhao immediately thought of Chen Jiahui. Charles reminded everyone to wrap things up quickly, as there was a press conference followed by a celebration party, and they would fly to Shanghai the next day. Although Han Junhao wanted to delay the trip by a day, he ultimately agreed out of consideration for the team and the brand. Meanwhile, Xu Junhao informed Wu Kaitong that the headquarters had approved her transfer application.
She was instructed to complete her work handover and leave for the United States within three days. Normally, Wu Kaitong would have been thrilled about this opportunity, but since getting closer to Wei Shijie, her excitement was overshadowed by anxiety and a sense of loss. Xu Jiajia’s parents and Xu Junhao’s parents had separate meetings. Xu Zhiqiang invited Xu Jianming to a small, modest diner, which Xu Jianming initially disdained for being too cheap.
However, through their conversation, Xu Jianming’s opinion of Xu Zhiqiang changed significantly. Despite coming from the North and the South, the two men found common ground and had an enjoyable discussion, ultimately finalizing the marriage agreement for their children. At the same time, Tang Wei and Ah Zhen met for an early morning jog and chat. Tang Wei learned that Ah Zhen’s lifestyle was somewhat similar to Xu Jiajia’s, as they both enjoyed outdoor activities.
Tang Wei expressed her concerns, and Ah Zhen reassured her, pointing out that her eldest son shared a similar personality with his father. Both were unwavering once they set their minds on something. Ah Zhen believed Xu Junhao’s decision to marry Xu Jiajia wasn’t impulsive and understood Tang Wei’s worries as a mother. Wei Shijie visited the PR department to see Wu Kaitong and learned about her upcoming move to the U. S.
They went to the beach together, where Wu Kaitong surprised him with a delicate little cake that lifted his spirits. Wei Shijie encouraged Wu Kaitong to pursue what she truly wanted and go wherever her heart desired. Later, Tang Wei, Xu Jianming, and Li Meng accompanied Xu Jiajia to try on wedding dresses. Watching their daughter prepare for marriage brought a mix of emotions to her parents.
Sitting on the side, Li Meng felt like an outsider while the family of three laughed and chatted. Tang Wei noticed his discomfort and actively pulled him into the conversation, easing the awkwardness. The racing team held a celebration party for Han Junhao, who expressed his gratitude to everyone, stating that the championship belonged to the whole team.
Everyone raised their glasses in cheers, but as Han Junhao scanned the room, he couldn’t find the person he truly wanted to see. Meanwhile, Chen Jiahui stayed home, working on a proposal for an exhibition concept. In the process, she finally understood Marilena’s heartfelt emotions.
Episode 17 Recap
Before the wedding, Tang Wei took the initiative to follow tradition and comb her daughter Xu Jiajia’s hair, feeling a surge of emotion as she realized her daughter had grown up and was about to get married. At that moment, Li Meng personally arrived to give Xu Jiajia a gift, and the three women spent the night before the wedding drinking and chatting.
During their conversation, Xu Jiajia mentioned that Xu Junhao wanted her to quit her job after they got married, which drew strong opposition from Li Meng. Using herself as an example, Li Meng advised Xu Jiajia not to sacrifice her youth and dreams for the sake of family. However, Tang Wei held a different opinion, arguing that balancing a career and family is exhausting and that trying to be a career woman while managing household responsibilities could be overwhelming.
Watching the two debate endlessly, Xu Jiajia concluded that both were envious of the path they didn’t choose. Elsewhere, Chen Shiyu ran into Xu Jianming at a quiet bar and brought up Tang Wei’s Tianqin Entertainment. He suggested that if Xu Jianming agreed to appear as a guest on one of their shows, it would greatly benefit her company’s performance. After a long discussion, Xu Jianming began reflecting on his own complicated and uncertain marriage.
Moved by their conversation, he unexpectedly agreed to participate in the program. Xu Jianming confided in Chen Shiyu, admitting that he often overlooked the most important people around him, taking their efforts for granted. Despite all these years, he still felt like a child in many ways. That night, Li Meng sat alone in her room, crying uncontrollably in her drunken state. She confessed to Xu Jianming her long-suppressed frustrations.
Li Meng admitted that she loved Xu Jianming deeply, but he had never truly seen her in his life. After much thought, she decided she could no longer sustain their marriage. Meanwhile, Tang Wei danced freely in the streets until Chen Shiyu appeared and carried her on his back to take her home. Soon, the day of Xu Junhao and Xu Jiajia’s wedding arrived.
Ah Zhen helped Xu Zhiqiang straighten his tie and suit, and the two dressed meticulously for the occasion. The wedding venue was bustling with energy, and guests arrived one after another. Xu Junle took on the role of videographer, capturing the couple’s sweetest and happiest moments. Under the gaze of everyone present, Xu Jiajia walked slowly down the aisle, arm in arm with her father. Listening to Xu Junhao’s heartfelt vows, they exchanged rings and officially became husband and wife.
The crowd was moved and offered their blessings. The wedding lasted until the evening. In a private moment, Mai Youge told Xu Junle that she was about to leave Macau and wanted to take the opportunity to express her feelings. However, Xu Junle encouraged her to be patient, believing they should wait for the right time for them. Touched by his words, Mai Youge embraced him tightly.
Meanwhile, Chen Jiahui learned that the race car drivers were checking out of their hotels, signaling that Han Junhao was about to leave Macau. Isabella urged Chen Jiahui to seize the opportunity, saying that love meant being together. However, Chen Jiahui remained cautious and reserved, knowing their biggest issue was their inability to compromise. She decided to leave things to fate, believing that if they were meant to be, they would meet again someday.
At the wedding reception, everyone drank and celebrated joyously. Xu Zhiqiang raised his glass to give a toast, delivering a heartfelt and moving speech. Inspired by the moment, Xu Jianming also stood up, slightly tipsy, and jokingly said that he had entrusted his most beloved daughter to a man he didn’t know very well, leaving him with mixed feelings. Even so, Xu Jianming acknowledged that Xu Junhao was a good man.
He reminded the young couple that marriage isn’t just about love; it’s about enduring the monotony of daily life. He advised them to never stop going on dates, never stop embracing, and never forget to say "I love you. "As the music began to play, Xu Junhao led Xu Jiajia to the dance floor, surrounded by cheers. Xu Zhiqiang and Ah Zhen, Xu Jianming and Li Meng, and others all joined in, dancing joyfully.
Only Chen Jiahui stood aside, looking forlorn. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard a familiar melody and voice. Turning around, she saw Han Junhao singing her favorite song. At that moment, all their past misunderstandings melted away.
Episode 18 Recap
Early in the morning, Xu Jianming prepared breakfast attentively for Li Meng, surprising her with his thoughtfulness. Later, he accompanied her to visit her favorite sights and even overcame his fear to join her on a skywalk, laughing and chatting along the way. In the end, the misunderstandings and conflicts between them were resolved, and their relationship returned to its former closeness. Wu Kaitong was about to leave Macau for the United States.
Before departing, she bid farewell to her parents, making it clear that she would not forgive them. She also told them not to waste time trying to repair their relationship because, in her eyes, there was no right or wrong in the matter. Wu Kaitong believed that if the three of them truly wanted to stay connected, they needed to start over as friends, respecting and cherishing one another, which might lead to a better outcome.
Soon, Zhenqiang Kee hosted Xu Zhiqiang’s retirement banquet. Mai Youge, Wu Kaitong, and Chen Jiahui all attended, alongside neighbors and friends who came to celebrate this special moment with the Xu family. Xu Zhiqiang publicly thanked the neighbors, old colleagues, and his family for their support over the years.
He admitted that he had often wondered what he had been holding on to all this time, and finally realized it was simply to live without regret—to dedicate his life to one thing and leave no room for remorse. At the same time, Xu Zhiqiang acknowledged his regrets, especially regarding his eldest son, Xu Junhao.
He admitted that he had not spent enough time with him during his upbringing and had failed to provide him with the care and support a father should. Hearing his father’s words, Xu Junhao’s eyes turned red with emotion, and he raised his trembling hand to toast with everyone present. Meanwhile, as Han Junhao was on his way to the airport to leave Macau, he suddenly told the driver to turn around and rushed to Chen Jiahui’s residence.
He thought he wouldn’t get the chance to see her again, but as luck would have it, she was returning home just as he arrived. Overjoyed, Han Junhao fulfilled a half-joking promise he had made before, gifting her his trophy. The two embraced on the street. After Han Junhao left, Chen Jiahui found a matchbox he had left at her doorstep. Inside was a note.
Han Junhao explained that the matchbox, which Chen Jiahui had previously given him, originally contained three matches. The first match was used to wish for a racing victory, and the second to enter Chen Jiahui’s life—both of which had come true. Now, only the final match remained, and Han Junhao told Chen Jiahui that whatever wish she made with it would surely come true. On Wei Shijie’s performance day, Mrs. Lin personally attended to watch.
The performance went smoothly, and he ended it with a piece he composed himself, earning high praise. During the group photo session, Wei Shijie scanned the crowd, looking for Wu Kaitong. When he spotted a bouquet with her handwritten card, he looked up to see her standing not far away. They exchanged a smile from a distance. Xu Jiajia accompanied her mother, Tang Wei, to the airport.
Noticing Chen Shiyu’s attentiveness, she subtly encouraged Tang Wei to seize the opportunity for romance. While Chen Shiyu went to retrieve something, Tang Wei told Xu Jiajia that as one grows older, the more one cherishes something, the more one learns restraint. She then bid farewell to Xu Jiajia and boarded the plane with Chen Shiyu. At the same time, Mai Youge, having finished filming her promotional work, dragged her suitcase to the airport. Coincidentally, Han Junhao was also there.
The two noticed each other, exchanged smiles, but didn’t speak. After taking over his father’s Zhenqiang Kee restaurant, Xu Junle managed it skillfully. A year later, Mai Youge returned to the restaurant and ordered a bowl of “Mai Perfect Soup. ” Xu Junle had personally visited Mai Youge’s hometown to learn the essence of the soup, only to realize that its true meaning lay in sincerity. Mai Youge smiled warmly at his effort.
On the other hand, Chen Jiahui held a solo art exhibition in Macau titled “Sensory Paradise,” which received widespread acclaim. Han Junhao attended the exhibition and waited until Chen Jiahui appeared. The two stood in front of a painting and embraced tightly. Beside them was a painting symbolizing that life has no clear beginning or end—each encounter may be a new start.
