Yue Qianling told Gu Xun online that she was with her childhood friend, Tang Xin. Gu Xun asked if her childhood friend ever took the initiative to contact her. Yue Qianling started going through their chat history and told Gu Xun that it was basically always Tang Xin who messaged her first. Gu Xun told Yue Qianling that the guy liked her. Yue Qianling asked what she should do then. Gu Xun told her that if the guy asked again, she should tell Tang Xin that she already had a boyfriend.

Tang Xin asked Yue Qianling what her boyfriend did for a living, and she couldn’t answer. So Yue Qianling described her boyfriend based on Gu Xun. At home, Gu Xun couldn’t hold back and asked Yue Qianling if she had told him.

Yue Qianling told Gu Xun that they might’ve misunderstood—Tang Xin actually liked someone else. Gu Xun asked how she knew that person wasn’t her. Yue Qianling said not to talk about it for now—they had just gotten home. Hearing they were going home together, Gu Xun immediately ran to the door to go find Yue Qianling, but then realized he didn’t even know where she lived.

After dropping Yue Qianling off, Tang Xin asked if she wanted to join a dinner gathering with some friends—Da Jin and the others would be there too. Before Yue Qianling could answer, her mom said she had to go out and wouldn’t be making dinner, so she told Yue Qianling to go along with Tang Xin.

Jiang Junnan scolded Gu Xun to be more serious, saying it was ridiculous to call him just to play games. Jiang Junnan thought it was totally normal for someone like Yue Qianling, who was beautiful and kind, to be liked by others. But Gu Xun felt Tang Xin didn’t seem like a good guy.

Gu Xun logged into the game and asked Yue Qianling if she was up for a four-player squad that night. Yue Qianling told him she was out eating. Gu Xun asked who was giving her that much face to invite her out right after she got back, and Yue Qianling told him it was Tang Xin. Jiang Junnan told Gu Xun to admit he liked Yue Qianling and sent him a quiz about secret crushes.

Gu Xun sent the quiz to Yue Qianling and asked if she dared to take it. Yue Qianling said, “What’s there to be afraid of?” After taking the quiz, Yue Qianling told Gu Xun that her results matched perfectly. She asked if the quiz was accurate. Gu Xun told her to send him her phone number so he could save her in case she was ever in danger.

Gu Xun saw that one of the quiz results said if someone had a crush, they’d set their social media posts to public so the other person could understand them better. Gu Xun made his own posts public. Then Yue Qianling called him.

Gu Xun, pretending to have a Northeastern accent, asked Yue Qianling why she wasn’t home so late and whether she still loved him after getting home. Yue Qianling, embarrassed, said she did. As soon as she said that, Gu Xun hung up.

After dropping Yue Qianling off, Tang Xin said it really was worrying when a girlfriend was out so late. As he spoke, Tang Xin made a video call. Gu Xun, seeing the call, panicked and stuffed his phone into a pot.

Yue Qianling told Tang Xin that maybe her boyfriend was just too busy. Tang Xin said, “What kind of boyfriend is that? It’s so late and he doesn’t even care.” Yue Qianling said maybe he was playing games. Tang Xin said, “So gaming is more important than his girlfriend?”

Back home, Yue Qianling’s parents asked if her boyfriend was just someone who played games all day—rumor had it he was ugly and poor too. Yue Qianling told them not to believe random gossip. When she returned to Jiangcheng, she happened to run into Gu Xun.

Gu Xun was about to go play games, but when he saw Yue Qianling, he skipped it and went to help her carry her things. Yue Qianling was a bit surprised that Gu Xun knew she had returned home. Gu Xun said he guessed it from all the local specialty goods she was carrying.

Yue Qianling attended her first meeting at the Ninth Business Division. Gu Xun told her to start with the Xingxing team. During the meeting, Yue Qianling’s comments on how Lin Zhi should be drawn earned praise from Wei Han and Jiang Junnan. Gu Xun told her to go ahead and draw a draft.

Yue Qianling’s first version of Lin Zhi was opposed by the Xingxing team. Gu Xun told her to absorb their feedback and try again with a new version. Su Zheng told Jiang Yishi that he wanted to join the Ninth Business Division. Jiang Yishi asked what Gu Xun had promised him and said he could offer double that.
