Kong Qiqi realizes that delving deeper into each case helps her regain some of her lost memories. Thus, she embarks on a journey of investigating cases to retrieve her memories.

Me and My Delicate Husband Recap

Episode 1 Recap

Kong Qiqi is a forensic doctor. One day, after she had just finished work and returned home, she received a call from her colleague Xiao Zhang. Xiao Zhang warned her that the detectives had discovered the person who had poisoned someone was near her house. While still on the phone, someone attacked her and held her head underwater in the bathtub. When she woke up, she found herself transported to ancient times. The maid, upon seeing her wake up, was so excited that she almost cried.

At this moment, an official named Cai, approached Kong Qiqi and suspected her involvement in the murder case. After listening to Mr. Cai's words, Kong Qiqi looked around and noticed a female corpse next to her. Without any further explanation, Mr. Cai ordered his men to take her to the yamen (government office). Once at the yamen, Mr. Cai asked Kong Qiqi to explain why she ended up in the water at the same time as the deceased.

Kong Qiqi searched the memories of the original host but found nothing. Angrily, she replied that the riverside was not a restricted area, so there was nothing inappropriate about her being there. Besides, investigations should rely on evidence. She demanded Mr. Cai present witnesses and physical evidence and reveal his motive for murder. The official was speechless when questioned and angrily accused her of making trouble. If it weren't for the fact that she was the daughter of the current prime minister, he would have punished her.

Just then, a notification came from the entrance that the Ninth Prince had arrived. Kong Qiqi was surprised to find that the Ninth Prince was her boyfriend from before she traveled through time, Mu Zhixi. Not only did he look the same, but his name was also the same.

Episode 2 Recap

When Mu Zhixi walked in, Kong Qiqi hurriedly greeted him, but Mu Zhixi seemed not to recognize her. While Kong Qiqi was talking to Mr. Cai, Mu Zhixi had already arrived and overheard their conversation. He asked Kong Qiqi how she knew the deceased was pregnant if they had never met before, thus suspecting her of lying.

Kong Qiqi asked Mr. Cai how someone would be positioned if they accidentally fell into the water. Mr. Cai thought for a moment and said that the natural instinct would be to raise both hands in struggle. Kong Qiqi followed Mr. Cai's words and explained her reasoning for determining the pregnancy of the deceased. It was because the deceased was holding her stomach with both hands. However, Mr. Cai dismissed her explanation, stating that even if the deceased wanted to protect the child in her belly, she would still raise her hands for help after falling into the water. To prove her point, Kong Qiqi suggested performing an autopsy on the body.

Since Mr. Cai had never experienced using autopsy as a means of examining a corpse, he immediately opposed the idea. Just then, someone approached Mr. Cai and informed him that the identity of the body had been determined. It was a maid from the Ninth Prince's residence. Upon hearing this news, Mu Zhixi vouched for Kong Qiqi to dissect the body in order to clarify the case.

Kong Qiqi examined the body and found traces of human tissue under the deceased's fingernails, indicating that she had struggled with someone before her death. As she was about to perform the autopsy on the female corpse, Mu Zhixi suddenly walked in. A strange fragment flashed through Kong Qiqi's mind. After calming down, she couldn't help but suspect whether Mu Zhixi had something to do with her crossing over to this time.

Episode 3 Recap

After the body was dissected, Kong Qiqi pointed to three trays and told Mr. Cai about them. In the first tray were the epithelial tissues extracted from under the deceased's fingernails, indicating that the deceased had been involved in a fight before death. At this point, she rolled up her sleeves and asked Mu Zhixi to examine her hands and arms for any injuries to prove that she was not the murderer.

After Mu Zhixi finished examining her arms, Kong Qiqi pointed to the second tray and said that it contained undigested food extracted from the deceased's stomach, proving that the deceased had eaten osmanthus cake before death. As Mr. Cai had just handled those items, he felt nauseated upon hearing Kong Qiqi's words and almost vomited.

Having examined the contents of the trays, Kong Qiqi was able to prove that the deceased was four months pregnant and cleared herself of suspicion. However, when she was about to leave, Mu Zhixi wanted to accompany her but was refused. Mu Zhixi returned to his residence and suspected that someone was trying to frame and set him up. He sought permission from the Emperor to have Kong Qiqi thoroughly investigate the case.

Kong Qiqi returned home, where Lady Kong and Lord Kong were furious about her dissecting the body. Suddenly, an imperial edict arrived, ordering Kong Qiqi to investigate the case. Kong Qiqi went to Mu Zhixi's residence, where he handed her his recent travel records. While they were talking, the Crown Prince suddenly walked in. Rumors had been circulating recently that Mu Zhixi had raped and killed a maid. Before Mu Zhixi could explain, the Crown Prince kicked him down without waiting for an explanation.

Episode 4 Recap

After Mu Zhixi was kicked down, Kong Qiqi noticed that he was having difficulty breathing on the ground. Before the Crown Prince arrived, she saw Mu Zhixi eat a sugar cube and concluded that he was choking on it, blocking his airway. She hurriedly ran over, hugged him from behind, and forcefully pulled upward. Seeing her inelegant first aid method, the Crown Prince mocked Kong Qiqi, deeming her behavior too licentious.

Kong Qiqi angrily questioned the Crown Prince, stating that he acted too harshly toward Mu Zhixi without understanding the truth of the situation. If she hadn't intervened, Mu Zhixi might have lost his life. The Crown Prince, upon hearing this, also realized that he had been too heavy-handed. He told Kong Qiqi that if it was indeed Mu Zhixi's doing once the matter was clarified, he would have Kong Qiqi accompany Mu Zhixi in death to tarnish the royal family's reputation.

After the Crown Prince left, Mu Zhixi felt that Kong Qiqi's method of saving him had been very effective. He took the initiative to seek advice from her. Kong Qiqi held his waist and demonstrated again. When Mu Zhixi suddenly turned his head, their faces were close, and the situation became ambiguous. At that moment, Mu Zhixi's female bodyguard, Chai Hu, suddenly walked in to report to him. She had found out who killed the maid Xiao Wan. Before she could finish speaking, she saw the intimate scene between Kong Qiqi and Mu Zhixi and quickly turned around and left.

Chai Hu went to capture the culprit, while Mu Zhixi and Kong Qiqi waited in the carriage. Kong Qiqi expressed some concerns and asked Mu Zhixi if Chai Hu would be able to handle it alone. Mu Zhixi reassured her and expressed confidence in Chai Hu's skills. Chai Hu apprehended Shen Jue, and his subordinates surrounded her, attempting to save him, but Chai Hu defeated them all. Mu Zhixi instructed Chai Hu to hand Shen Jue over to Mr. Cai.

After Chai Hu left, Mu Zhixi asked Kong Qiqi if there was any way to prove that the child in Xiao Wan's belly belonged to Shen Jue. Kong Qiqi went to examine the body again, determined to seek justice for Xiao Wan.

Episode 5 Recap

In the courtroom, Mr. Cai and Mu Zhixi were questioning the case when Mr. Shen suddenly burst in, demanding justice for his son. Seeing this, Mu Zhixi deliberately asked him if he wanted to bring Mr. Tan from the Ministry of Justice to join in the questioning so that he wouldn't shout in the courtroom. Mr. Shen was silenced by Mu Zhixi's remark.

Mu Zhixi asked Shen Jue why he killed Xiao Wan. Shen Jue told Mu Zhixi that he didn't even know who Xiao Wan was and sarcastically commented on Mu Zhixi's philandering nature and the presence of beautiful women around him. Mu Zhixi then mentioned the evidence Chai Hu had found: Shen Jue frequently took Xiao Wan to the osmanthus cake shop, and the shop owner could testify to that. Mu Zhixi lifted Shen Jue's sleeve, revealing scratches on his arm.

Seeing that Shen Jue continued to deny it, Kong Qiqi entered with a box and informed him that it contained the fetus from Xiao Wan's belly. When she removed the fetus, its heart was still beating rapidly. Hearing Kong Qiqi's words, Shen Jue turned pale with fright. When Kong Qiqi wanted to take his blood and the fetus's blood for a kinship test, Shen Jue's psychological defense collapsed, and he confessed to the crime.

After Xiao Wan became pregnant, she demanded that Shen Jue marry her. Naturally, Shen Jue refused because he was already engaged to Mr. Tan's daughter. Xiao Wan then threatened to tell Mr. Tan about the situation, and in a fit of anger, Shen Jue pushed her into the river. After the case was solved, Mu Zhixi suddenly remembered his mother's death and wanted to use Kong Qiqi to uncover the truth. He deliberately had Kong Qiqi brought to the court with Mr. Kong and knelt down to the Emperor, confessing that he had fallen in love at first sight with Kong Qiqi and requesting the Emperor's permission to marry her.

Episode 6 Recap

Upon hearing Mu Zhixi's request to the Emperor, Kong Qiqi wanted to stand up and oppose it but was restrained by her father. After leaving the court, Kong Qiqi questioned Mu Zhixi. She had saved him twice, and even if he didn't thank her, why did he have to repay her kindness with enmity? However, Mu Zhixi made it clear that he was indeed infatuated with her. Kong Qiqi had transmigrated and never expected to encounter such a situation. The more she thought about it, the more unwilling she became, so she decided to run away from the marriage.

Kong Qiqi climbed over the wall and just as her feet touched the ground, a fortune teller dressed in a Daoist robe appeared in front of her, claiming that she had recent troubles and asked her to pay 50 taels of silver to resolve them. Kong Qiqi knew right away that she had encountered a swindler based on his appearance. She was about to turn around and leave when her maid, Xiaopang, suddenly peered over the wall. Worried that her father would find out, Kong Qiqi asked the fortune teller to take her to a safe place.

The fortune teller introduced himself to Kong Qiqi as Gu Yue, also known as "Baixiaosheng" (the name of a famous fictional character). Kong Qiqi asked him how she could leave the imperial city. Gu Yue told her that she needed a road pass issued by the imperial court. To avoid arousing suspicion, Kong Qiqi was inquiring whether Gu Yue could create a fake road pass when Xiaopang, accompanied by people from the Kong family, suddenly appeared before them.

Kong Qiqi was forced to wear the wedding attire and performed the marriage ceremony with Mu Zhixi. When it came time to enter the bridal chamber after the ceremony, Mu Zhixi wanted to pull Kong Qiqi along, but she purposely stood still, unmoving.

Episode 7 Recap

Seeing Kong Qiqi standing still, the guests started discussing and assumed that she was drunk. Kong Qiqi, however, didn't care at all and couldn't help feeling a bit proud, eagerly waiting to see Mu Zhixi embarrassed. But what she didn't expect was that when Mu Zhixi couldn't pull her along, he suddenly bent down and lifted her up in his arms.

Mu Zhixi, noticing that Kong Qiqi still wanted to escape, warned her that if she dared to run away, more than 60 members of the Kong family would likely suffer. Kong Qiqi questioned Mu Zhixi discontentedly, asking what exactly he wanted. She pointed out that the words he said to the Emperor might deceive the Emperor but not her. They had just met, and his so-called love at first sight was something even a three-year-old child wouldn't believe. Therefore, she suspected that he had ulterior motives.

Upon hearing this, Mu Zhixi deliberately brought his face closer to hers. Nervously, Kong Qiqi asked him what he intended to do. Mu Zhixi didn't answer her question but instead asked her why she wanted to escape. Kong Qiqi muttered that it was because there was no body to verify in the Wang Mansion. In order to keep Kong Qiqi, Mu Zhixi arranged for the coroner from the Judicial Office, who examined corpses, to help Kong Qiqi.

Kong Qiqi went to examine several more bodies, but what puzzled her was that the image from the first examination never appeared in her mind again. So she sought advice from Gu Yue and, while they were eating and chatting, Mu Zhixi suddenly walked in and informed her that Shen Wanliang had been killed.

Episode 8 Recap

Before Mu Zhixi entered, he overheard the conversation between Kong Qiqi and Gu Yue. Gu Yue didn't know Kong Qiqi's identity and learned that she had previously run away to escape marriage. He wanted to take Kong Qiqi on a journey, but when Kong Qiqi and Chai Hu left, Mu Zhixi warned Gu Yue that if Kong Qiqi wanted to wander the world, he would naturally accompany her and wouldn't let Gu Yue take his place because Kong Qiqi was his wife. His words were clearly filled with jealousy.

Kong Qiqi arrived at the scene and saw Shen Wanliang trapped under a pile of gold bricks. Magistrate Cai told Kong Qiqi that when he entered, he saw the scene as it is now. Kong Qiqi examined the scene and then instructed Magistrate Cai to mark the positions of the body and the gold bricks and transport them back to the Judicial Office. Upon hearing Kong Qiqi's clear and decisive instructions, Mu Zhixi couldn't help but admire her.

On the way back, Kong Qiqi started to feel a bit tired and dozed off in the carriage. Mu Zhixi took the initiative to embrace her in his arms. When Kong Qiqi woke up, she thought Mu Zhixi was trying to take advantage of her. Later, when Mu Zhixi was taking medicine, the carriage suddenly stopped, and he accidentally kissed her. Since they had reached an agreement not to infringe upon each other after their marriage, Kong Qiqi wanted to take the opportunity to remind him.

After the carriage stopped, several refugees approached Kong Qiqi, and Mu Zhixi quickly ordered Chai Hu to protect her. When someone raised a dagger to attack Kong Qiqi, Chai Hu hurriedly stood in front of her. Chai Hu got injured, and Kong Qiqi bandaged her wounds. She asked Kong Qiqi to take a look at Mu Zhixi as well. Mu Zhixi only had a minor injury. While applying medicine to him, Kong Qiqi deliberately pressed on his wound. Seeing Mu Zhixi wincing in pain, Kong Qiqi couldn't help but laugh.

Episode 9 Recap

Chai Hu interrogated the assassin and only then did he realize that he was being manipulated. The assassin's sister had gone missing a few years ago and was later killed. Someone told him that this matter was related to Kong Qiqi, so he came to seek revenge on her. Mu Zhixi noticed that someone was targeting Kong Qiqi and started to worry about her again.

Kong Qiqi returned to the Judicial Office and conducted an examination of Shen Wanliang's body and the gold. She discovered that Shen Wanliang was choked to death by a ring lodged in his throat. Magistrate Cai recognized the ring as belonging to Minister Tan from the Ministry of Justice. Among the pile of gold bricks, Kong Qiqi found a certain amount of silver, which was clearly placed there by someone. She handed it over to Magistrate Cai and asked him to investigate the source of the silver.

The reason Kong Qiqi wanted to perform the autopsy was to find a way back. While conducting the autopsy on Shen Wanliang, another image appeared in her mind. In this image, Mu Zhixi had blood flowing from his head, sitting on the ground, as if he had just fought with someone. In addition to this, she recalled some of her past with Mu Zhixi. They had been in love for six years, but Mu Zhixi had been hesitant to marry her because she was a forensic doctor.

After leaving the scene, Mu Zhixi noticed that Kong Qiqi's expression was off and went to support her. However, Kong Qiqi pushed him aside. Mu Zhixi thought that Kong Qiqi was behaving this way because she had encountered a difficult problem during the investigation.

Episode 10 Recap

Kong Qiqi walked while contemplating. She had pursued Mu Zhixi for three years, but he never agreed to marry her. Now that she had just transmigrated, Mu Zhixi married her, most likely to use her for the investigation. She didn't know if Mu Zhixi had anything to do with her transmigration or whether she should forgive him. Just at that moment, she coincidentally ran into Gu Yue.

Gu Yue took Kong Qiqi to a restaurant, and she shared her worries with him. Mu Zhixi quietly followed them, concerned for Kong Qiqi's safety. He listened to her confiding in Gu Yue without interrupting. When Kong Qiqi left the restaurant, she unexpectedly saw Mu Zhixi and asked him if he would harm her in the future. Mu Zhixi then kissed her proactively and assured her that he would harm himself but never her.

Regarding the case, all the evidence now points to the high-ranking court official Ren An, but Mu Zhixi could tell that someone was deliberately misleading them. When Kong Qiqi mentioned the ingot of silver that was intentionally placed, Mu Zhixi called Chai Hu, excitedly informing her that the batch of silver had reappeared. Upon hearing this news, Chai Hu was also greatly moved. Over 20 members of the Lu family had died for this batch of silver, and she had been hiding her identity, staying by the Ninth Prince's side, to seek justice for her parents.

Episode 11 Recap

Mu Zhixi and Kong Qiqi arrived at Lord Ren's mansion. While Lord Ren was having a conversation with Mu Zhixi, Kong Qiqi and the maid Jingzhu squatted down, admiring the blooming flowers in the mansion's garden. Suddenly, a few gossiping madams approached and started gossiping about Kong Qiqi. Jingzhu was about to argue with them when Mu Zhixi walked over and told them that being a forensic examiner was not as disgraceful as they claimed. He warned them that if they thought it was shameful, they might seek justice for themselves if they were ever victimized.

Lord Ren also approached and scolded the madams, then asked Kong Qiqi to meet Lady Ren. While Kong Qiqi was talking to Lady Ren, someone rushed over to report to Mu Zhixi that the West Garden was on fire. The West Garden was Mu Zhixi's separate residence. Upon hearing this news, Mu Zhixi hurriedly took Kong Qiqi and rushed to the West Garden.

When they arrived at the West Garden, Magistrate Cai had already unprofessionally moved the corpse. Mu Zhixi told Kong Qiqi that Lady Ren would have a difficult time tonight. Hearing this, Kong Qiqi leaned close to him and quietly told him that she found his words tonight quite pleasant to hear, then she went to examine the scene. Lord Li Huai from the imperial court was talking to an assassin and was pleased to hear that the assassin had cleaned up all the traces at the scene.

Episode 12 Recap

Arriving at Yunyuan, Mu Zhixi encountered his uncle who had been in seclusion for several days. His uncle expressed concern about Mu Zhixi's health and advised him not to take medicine anymore. Mu Zhixi stated that he had stopped taking medicine in order to protect his family. His uncle thought that his marriage was a bit rushed, but Mu Zhixi had his own reasons. He believed that Kong Qiqi could help him solve the case from years ago and seek justice for his mother. He hoped his uncle would not go into seclusion again because three days ago at Shen Wanliang's residence, they discovered the missing silver ingot from that year. When his uncle learned about this, he was furious. Now that the enemy had revealed their true colors, they would surely capture him.

Kong Qiqi and Magistrate Cai arrived at the location where the body was found, but the scene had been destroyed. They had to perform the autopsy. In order to assist Kong Qiqi in conducting a better examination, Mu Zhixi prepared a silk band to help her tie up her clothes and gloves to keep her hands clean. This deeply moved Kong Qiqi. Through the examination of the deceased, Kong Qiqi discovered that the body was thrown into Yunyuan after death and then set on fire, so the fire was not accidental.

The next day, while conducting the autopsy, Kong Qiqi suddenly remembered something from the past. Kong Qiqi and Mu Zhixi had a fight and parted ways. On her way back, she encountered a strange person who actually wanted to kill her. Mu Zhixi arrived in time and fought the strange person to save Kong Qiqi, but he was injured in the process. Thinking about this, Kong Qiqi decided to take Mu Zhixi back to the modern era with her. So she ran to the door and embraced Mu Zhixi, and the two passionately kissed each other.

Episode 13 Recap

Mu Zhixi was taken aback by Kong Qiqi's sudden action, but Kong Qiqi felt that it should have been done earlier. After speaking, she went to examine the body, leaving Mu Zhixi confused. Magistrate Cai found the intimacy between the two poetic and elegant, but considering that they were already married, he refrained from saying much. Qiqi discovered that there were no charcoal residues in the victim's stomach, indicating that the body was thrown into the fire after death. Most of the organs showed signs of deterioration, suggesting that the victim was poisoned before being thrown into Yunyuan. There was also a noticeable birthmark on the left shoulder of the deceased, and the fabric on the back resembled the style worn by Lord Ren. Therefore, Mu Zhixi asked Magistrate Cai to find the origin of the fabric. Fearing for his own safety, Magistrate Cai took Chaihu and acted as his own bodyguard.

In the evening, in order to illustrate the symptoms of organ burning before death to Mu Zhixi, Kong Qiqi pointed her finger at Mu Zhixi's eye corner, nose, mouth, and throat, unknowingly sliding to the stomach area. Mu Zhixi felt as if he was a corpse, and he was frightened. He couldn't help but call out "Madam," and Kong Qiqi stopped.

During the family banquet, Kong Qiqi learned from her uncle that 19 years ago, her uncle led a hundred thousand troops to battle against the Northern Desert. Someone reported that his deputy general, Lu, colluded with the Hu family, an imperial merchant, and embezzled 200,000 silver taels issued by the court. As a result, the Hu family and Deputy General Lu's entire family were executed. However, during the search, the 200,000 silver taels were not found. Unexpectedly, one silver ingot was discovered in Shen Wanliang's case today. During that defeat, Mu Zhixi's mother was also implicated and poisoned.

Episode 14 Recap

Uncle hosted a banquet to entertain Mu Zhixi and Kong Qiqi. A sloppy Taoist smelling the aroma of wine walked over, calling Uncle Yun Old Man. He said he knew that Uncle couldn't stay in seclusion for long. After seeing Kong Qiqi, he suddenly paused. After a quick calculation using finger divination, he looked at Kong Qiqi with confusion and said she wasn't from this world.

Episode 15 Recap

Before the Crown Prince's departure, he came to bid farewell to his teacher, Li Huai. Li Huai wanted to inquire from the Crown Prince why the Emperor had sent Mr. Jiang from the Imperial Censorate to serve as the Minister of Justice and appointed the Ninth Prince as the Imperial Censorate Official in charge of the responsible peace case. The Crown Prince dismissed Li Huai, stating that he shouldn't speculate on the Emperor's intentions. However, Li Huai cleverly handed a letter to the Crown Prince, informing him that if he encountered any trouble in Jiangnan, he could seek help from Li Huai's student, the Governor of Jiangnan, who would surely assist the Crown Prince in overcoming difficulties. The Crown Prince expressed his gratitude.

The boss of Hongbin Building, Gu Yue, intruded into Mu Zhixi's residence without permission, bringing some account books regarding the case from years ago. He also claimed to have evidence of Li Huai's corruption and abuse of power over the years. It turns out that Gu Yue is actually a descendant of the Hu family, the imperial merchants from back then. Over the years, he has collected various documents related to the case, hoping to assist Mu Zhixi.

Magistrate Cai received a report and arrived at Hongbin Building. The maid of the deceased had been frightened, causing a commotion among everyone at Hongbin Building. The local residents gathered around to see what was happening. Since the deceased had numerous scratch marks on her face, resembling those made by a cat, rumors began to spread that it was the work of a cat demon, creating panic among the people. This even alarmed the Emperor, who, in order to appease the public and quell the rumors, instructed both the Imperial Censorate and the Criminal Court to handle the case together. They believed that Gu Yue was highly suspicious and took him away. Despite the efforts of Magistrate Cai's forensic examiner, nothing was found. Everyone was eagerly awaiting Kong Qiqi's arrival at the scene to uncover the truth of the case.

Episode 16 Recap

While conducting the autopsy, Kong Qiqi's mind was filled with happy memories of the time she spent with Mu Zhixi. She realized that their previous relationship had been quite good and couldn't help but feel secretly delighted.

The autopsy results showed that the deceased died from myocardial atrophy, leading to sudden death. Magistrate Cai wanted to close the case based on this finding, but Kong Qiqi felt that someone had deliberately staged the scene to make it appear as a sudden death. There were many suspicious points in the case. When Mu Zhixi learned about it, he decided not to report it to the Emperor yet. He and Kong Qiqi would investigate the case further.

They went to the brothel where the deceased, Chu Chu, had previously worked and learned that she was originally from an official's family. Due to her father's wrongdoing, she had entered the brothel. She was beautiful, skilled in dancing, and had a kind personality. She was the most popular courtesan in the brothel.

Chu Chu had once met a scholar's son, and they had a very good relationship. She even gave him a considerable amount of money. The scholar's son was deeply grateful to Chu Chu. He had recently passed the imperial examination and intended to marry Chu Chu. The brothel thought she would have a free life after that, but unfortunately, Chu Chu died. When the scholar's son heard the news, he came to the room where Chu Chu had lived and cried heartbreakingly. Cha Hu searched through Chu Chu's bedroom but found nothing.

Kong Qiqi and Mu Zhixi returned to Hongbin Building and discovered a box of scented powder in front of Chu Chu's dressing table. Surprisingly, the scent attracted a black cat. Kong Qiqi felt that there must be something suspicious about this box of scented powder.

Episode 17 Recap

Kong Qiqi took a look at Qin Chu Chu's powder jar and tea canister. Although they were slightly rough, she didn't find anything unusual. However, she noticed that catnip was mixed in the scented powder, and she also discovered that the rose tea in the tea canister, when steeped in hot water, turned into a deep pink color. This indicated that poison had been added to the rose tea. Based on these observations, Qin Chu Chu was most likely poisoned to death.

At that moment, two masked individuals broke in through the window, attempting to kill Kong Qiqi. Fortunately, Chai Hu and Mu Zhixi acted swiftly and captured the assassins. However, before they could extract any information, one of the assassins committed suicide. Kong Qiqi found a blank book in a hidden compartment under Qin Chu Chu's bed, but it seemed to be of no use.

Kong Qiqi went to Yunyuan to meet the old Taoist priest, who gave her a divination that was cast two months ago. The celestial phenomenon of a blood moon and seven stars aligned on the 15th of last month coincided with the priest's divination. The Astronomical Bureau also obtained the same divination, and the Crown Prince is also searching for the person who can interpret it. Kong Qiqi wanted to find a way to decipher the divination. The old Taoist priest told her that she could only unravel the celestial secrets by utilizing the assistance of the Five Elements. After returning home, Kong Qiqi found herself alone in the room, contemplating a solution.

Mu Zhixi summarized the recent cases Kong Qiqi had been investigating. The Shen Wanliang embezzlement case involved gold, the Xiao Wan drowning case was related to water, and the Yin'an silver arson case involved fire. The only missing elements were earth and wood, and he was worried that if Kong Qiqi received a case involving those elements, it could jeopardize her ability to decipher the celestial secrets. Therefore, he advised her not to get involved in Magistrate Cai's cases anymore.

Episode 18 Recap

Mu Zhixi approached Kong Qiqi's bed and looked at her sleeping form. Memories of the conversation between Kong Qiqi and the old Taoist priest resurfaced in his mind. If Kong Qiqi deciphered the divination, she might leave this place. He didn't want Kong Qiqi to leave, even if it meant keeping her as a lifeless body. He had considered strangling Kong Qiqi, but suddenly he remembered the beautiful moments they had spent together. His heart softened, and he withdrew his hand, feeling that it was not the right thing to do. Instead, he tightly embraced her.

A servant reported to Li Huai that the Crown Prince, while dealing with flood control in the south, had been swept away by the flood and was still missing. Li Huai was overjoyed and ordered them to find the Crown Prince's body before he could rest assured. With the Crown Prince gone, those in the capital were no longer a threat, and he could seize the Mu family's power for himself.

In order to keep Kong Qiqi by his side, Mu Zhixi gave her the hairpin that his mother loved the most before her passing. He also wrote a love letter expressing his deep affection for Kong Qiqi and his hope that they could be together in life and death. Kong Qiqi was deeply moved after reading it and believed that the present Mu Zhixi and her boyfriend from before her time travel were the same person. Therefore, she loved him just as much.

After conducting an investigation, Magistrate Cai discovered that Xu Huaiqing, the top scorer in the recent imperial examination, was the true culprit behind the Qin Chu Chu case. Xu Huaiqing was apprehended and subjected to punishment in order to extract the truth of the events. However, Xu Huaiqing not only denied his involvement but also accused Magistrate Cai of using torture. Mu Zhixi decided to take Kong Qiqi to witness Magistrate Cai's handling of the case.

Episode 19 Recap

Kong Qiqi pointed out that Xu Huaiqing didn't confess and revealed that he had roasted oleander flowers to make poisoned tea, which killed Qin Chu Chu. He also used catnip in the fragrance powder to make the cats go crazy, leading everyone to mistakenly believe it was the work of a cat demon. Despite hearing this, Xu Huaiqing still refused to confess. Mu Zhixi wanted him to drink the poisoned tea, but Xu Huaiqing kept his lips tightly sealed, choosing death over consuming the tea. He also disclosed that Qin Chu Chu was the daughter of the imperial physician who served Consort Yun in the past.

Mu Zhixi received a tampered book from Qin Chu Chu's hidden compartment at Xu Huaiqing's house. It contained records of Consort Yun's poisoning. Mu Zhixi read it and couldn't help but burst into tears, overwhelmed with sadness. Kong Qiqi was there to comfort him.

Upon learning that the Crown Prince had been washed away by the flood, the Emperor immediately coughed up blood and fell ill. He wanted Mu Zhixi to retrieve the Crown Prince, but Mu Zhixi decided to accuse Li Huai instead. He presented numerous pieces of evidence, pointing out Li Huai's plot to harm the imperial heir, embezzlement of funds, exploitation of the people, the sale of official positions, and the poisoning of the Empress. Seeing that Mu Zhixi had already uncovered the truth, the Emperor revealed that due to his favoritism towards Mu Zhixi when he was young, Li Huai feared that Mu Zhixi would threaten the Crown Prince's position. As a result, Li Huai poisoned Consort Yun with Bai You Jie, a weakening poison that gradually led to her demise. The Emperor explained that those who were affected by this poison would gradually weaken and eventually die. Fearing harm from Li Huai, Consort Yun had the imperial physician administer Da Cheng Qi Tang, a medicine that would make Mu Zhixi appear sickly and not pose a threat to the Crown Prince. The Emperor also revealed that he was aware of this situation, much to Mu Zhixi's surprise. Mu Zhixi's uncle had thought that Consort Yun had been buried in the imperial mausoleum, considering it a glorious event, without realizing that his sister had been poisoned. He felt deeply guilty about it.

Episode 20 Recap

Mu Zhixi wanted the Emperor to kill Li Huai, rectify the court, and seek revenge for his mother. However, the Emperor believed that half of the court officials were Li Huai's students and followers. Moreover, Li Huai was deep-minded and cautious in his actions. Although he engaged in some illegal activities behind the scenes, he fulfilled his responsibilities in governance. The stability of the Mu family's regime owed much to him. But Mu Zhixi believed that in order to secure his reign, the Emperor should not have let his mother die unjustly and allowed the culprit to remain at large. Since the Emperor refused to take action, Mu Zhixi decided to join forces with his uncle to eliminate Li Huai.

Looking at the hairpin belonging to Consort Yun, Kong Qiqi suddenly remembered that before her transmigration, she had captured Li Huai, the mastermind behind a series of poisoning cases, with crucial evidence. Li Huai held a grudge against her and wanted to kill her. Fortunately, Mu Zhixi arrived in time to save her. With this realization, she suddenly understood that both Consort Yun and Ren An's deaths were caused by Li Huai's poison. She thought of examining Ren An's body again and if she found evidence of poison in Li Huai's residence, she could prove his guilt. However, Mu Zhixi feared that once Kong Qiqi discovered the truth, she would leave him. So, he ordered Chaihu to keep an eye on her and not let her leave the palace.

Li Huai went to the prison cell and administered poison to Xu Huaiqing. He warned him that if he wanted the antidote, he had to go to the Emperor and accuse the Ninth Prince of using his authority to forcibly take the wife of the newly appointed top scholar and commit murder. The goal was to make the Emperor take action against the Ninth Prince. Xu Huaiqing, in order to obtain the antidote, had no choice but to follow Li Huai's instructions.

Episode 21 Recap

Kong Qiqi was locked up at home and feeling bored. Gu Yue took advantage of the night when no one was around and jumped down from the roof to find her. He wanted to take her away to a distant place, to leave this cursed land. However, Kong Qiqi refused him. She borrowed the name of a friend and said that the friend had a misunderstanding with her former lover. Now she realized that her lover didn't harm her and even saved her. But later, she encountered someone who looked exactly like her former lover and fell in love with this person. She wanted to go back and thank her previous lover but couldn't let go of the person she currently loved. What should she do?

Gu Yue believed that although they looked the same, one should not be deceived by appearances. One must follow their heart to make the right choice. Kong Qiqi felt that Mu Zhixi needed her more now.

The next day, Kong Qiqi remembered what the old Taoist said, that the secrets could be unraveled with the assistance of the Five Elements. And now, the cases she had encountered involved all five elements. So why was she still staying here? Perhaps it was because the culprit had not been brought to justice, and also because she was concerned about Mu Zhixi. In any case, the timing was not right. So she found Chaihu and wanted to see Mu Zhixi, but Chaihu didn't know where Mu Zhixi was. At that moment, the Crown Prince arrived, which surprised Kong Qiqi. Wasn't the Crown Prince dead? How could he be standing before her unharmed? It turned out that the Crown Prince discovered signs in the sky, with the Blood Moon and the Seven Stars aligned in an unusual manner from the west. That anomaly was Kong Qiqi. Kong Qiqi felt that the situation was not good. At that moment, Li Huai arrived at the Xi Wangfu with a group of soldiers, intending to capture Kong Qiqi alive.

Episode 22 Recap

Li Huai has already surrounded the palace. Some senior officials are trapped inside, and he does not allow the imperial physician to treat the Emperor. The army he secretly recruited is less than a hundred miles away from the capital. Over the past two days, Mu Zhixi and his uncle have captured most of Li Huai's accomplices. They plan to execute them publicly. Li Huai is waiting for Mu Zhixi to fall into his trap and then kill him. Once they find the Crown Prince's corpse, they will rebel against the Emperor.

The Crown Prince encountered danger in Jiangnan but luckily didn't die. Li Huai sent people to chase and kill him, and that's when he realized Li Huai's ambitious intentions. Fortunately, he came up with a plan and spread a rumor that the Crown Prince intended to die. Then he secretly returned to the capital and found Kong Qiqi. Because of the previous case Kong Qiqi solved, which caused the death of Li Huai's adopted son, Shen Jue, who was under the care of Shen Wanliang, Li Huai held a grudge against her. Now only Kong Qiqi can enter the palace to save the Emperor. In order to make Kong Qiqi believe him, Li Huai reveals that he was the one who planted the silver ingots in the Shen Wanliang case and secretly helped Kong Qiqi find more clues to solve the case. If Kong Qiqi can persuade Mu Zhixi to surrender to him, he will spare Mu Zhixi's life. As an exchange, he promises to eliminate all the remaining followers of Shen Huai. After the plan succeeds, Kong Qiqi and Mu Zhixi must leave the capital. Kong Qiqi agrees to the Crown Prince's request and goes to the palace alone. Li Huai is delighted to see Qiqi falling into his trap. Kong Qiqi treats the Emperor and finds him in good health, which puts the ministers at ease.

Xu Huaiqing and some colleagues come to the palace to accuse Mu Zhixi. Li Huai pretends to defend Mu Zhixi, but the crowd is relentless. At this moment, Mu Zhixi brings Li Huai's accomplices and publicly kills one of the ministers.

Episode 23 Recap

The soldiers outside the city received the notification that Mu Zhixi had detained the Prime Minister's disciple and was heading to the palace to kill. The soldiers urgently rushed to the capital for rescue. Seeing that Mu Zhixi had gone mad with rage, Xu Huaiqing encouraged everyone, saying that Mu Zhixi couldn't possibly kill all the scholars in the world. If they die for justice, what is there to fear?

As he said this, he suddenly had a sudden attack of poison and coughed up blood. It was only then that he realized he had been coerced by Li Huai, but it was too late.

Xu Huaiqing's colleagues all fled one after another. Li Huai regretted not killing Mu Zhixi 19 years ago. He had been deceived all these years by Mu Zhixi pretending to be weak and ill. Mu Zhixi thought to himself that Kong Qiqi would leave sooner or later, and then he would have nothing left to worry about. He ordered Chai Hu to kill all of Li Huai's accomplices. First, he wanted to avenge his mother and the soldiers on the border, and then he would seek death to atone for his sins, hoping to meet Kong Qiqi again in the next life.

The sound of horse hooves came from outside the gate. Li Huai thought it was his reinforcements arriving, but to his surprise, it was the Crown Prince's troops. The Crown Prince had also gained control over Li Huai's army. The Crown Prince listed out Li Huai's various crimes: poisoning Consort Yun, embezzling funds, and switching Xu Huaiqing's exam papers with those of outstanding students, leading to Xu Huaiqing being investigated in the Cat Demon case and ultimately poisoned to death. Li Huai was shocked to hear this and realized that the situation was already lost. His fate was sealed today. He deliberately used Consort Yun's death to provoke Mu Zhixi. In a fit of anger, Mu Zhixi killed him with a single sword strike.

The Emperor secretly handed the imperial seal to Kong Qiqi and instructed her to find Mu Zhixi through a secret passage. Li Huai's men wanted to capture the Emperor to threaten the Crown Prince, but Kong Qiqi forced their hand, leading the ministers to drive away Li Huai's men. She went to find Mu Zhixi alone.

Episode 24 (Ending) Recap

Kong Qiqi ran to the front of the hall, and Mu Zhixi was overjoyed to see her. The two of them were preparing to go home together when suddenly, Li Huai, who hadn't been killed yet, picked up a sword from the ground and stabbed it towards Kong Qiqi. In order to protect Kong Qiqi, Mu Zhixi blocked the sword with his body, sustaining serious injuries. Chai Hu then struck down Li Huai with a single sword strike. Mu Zhixi lay in Kong Qiqi's arms, and she tearfully called out his name. Mu Zhixi asked Kong Qiqi to call him "husband" one more time before reluctantly closing his eyes.

Kong Qiqi crossed back to the modern era, but she had been unconscious for two months. When she woke up, Mu Zhixi was incredibly happy to see her and told her that the person who had harmed her had been brought to justice. Doctors examined Kong Qiqi's condition and found everything to be normal. The two of them apologized to each other in the modern world. Mu Zhixi regretted leaving Kong Qiqi in anger, which gave the bad guys an opportunity. Kong Qiqi also reflected on herself and realized that she shouldn't have been so temperamental.

Mu Zhixi took out a book he had written titled "The Ailment-obsessed Prince and the Mortician's Wife." The characters in the book were based on him and Kong Qiqi. Mu Zhixi told Kong Qiqi about the content of the novel, which turned out to be exactly the same as Kong Qiqi's dream. Kong Qiqi wanted to know the ending of the story, and Mu Zhixi revealed that the story was written based on their real names, so they would ultimately be together.

Kong Qiqi thought of the Mu Zhixi from ancient times and wondered how he was doing now. After she recovered and was discharged from the hospital, Mu Zhixi proposed to her. They had been in love for six years, and this moment had finally arrived. Just as she was about to accept, she suddenly heard the voice of the Mu Zhixi from ancient times behind her...
