Using the excuse of taking care of Lin Wan, Xia Jin'e moved into Lin Wan’s room. Her words were filled with doubts about Hua Zhi selling red fruits. Lin Wan, tired of her endless nagging, simply went to sleep. Finally, under Fu Dong’s skillful hands, the red fruits reached the perfect taste, and Hua Zhi decided it was time to sell them on the street.

Since they became sticky over time, Hua Zhi had a clever idea: she used bamboo skewers to string them together and asked Fu Dong to give them a nice name, "Mi Dan'er" (Honey Pops). Everything was ready, but none of the maids were willing to hawk the goods on the street. Xia Jin'e still didn’t believe in Hua Zhi’s plan and tried to dampen her enthusiasm. Hua Zhi countered her doubts calmly. Since they didn’t have a shop, they would sell on the streets just like when they had sold peachwood charms.

Given that the Hua family was a scholarly family and had just been raided, they couldn’t afford to be too conspicuous on the streets, so Hua Zhi had the maids wear head coverings shaped like flower lanterns to hide their faces. Following Hua Zhi’s plan, Fu Dong and Bao Xia went to a school entrance to try selling, and the red fruits were very popular with children, selling for a total of 117 coins in one go.

Seeing the reward Fu Dong and Bao Xia received, everyone grew envious and eagerly joined in hawking. While Bao Xia was selling, she was careless and had her money stolen by a thief. Fortunately, Chen Qing happened to pass by and helped her get it back. Gu Yanxi, riding a carriage through the street, happened to see Hua Zhi walking with a head covering and deliberately sneaked over to lightly tap her on the head.

Chen Qing, disguised, went to buy Mi Dan'er, only to find Gu Yanxi was also there. Hua Zhi, worried Chen Qing might trouble Gu Yanxi, hurriedly pulled him aside. Seeing Hua Zhi caring for the poor deeply moved Gu Yanxi. He made a reservation for a portion of the sweet treats to take to his uncle, Gu Chengtao. Hua Zhi had people buy a bunch of chicks and ducklings, filling the courtyard with laughter, which made Xia Jin'e very uncomfortable.

When it came time to distribute monthly wages, Fu Dong received a full string of coins, and everyone agreed she deserved it. Xia Jin'e, holding only half a string in her hand, grew very angry. That night, someone secretly went to steal from the kitchen. This scene happened to be witnessed by Xia Jin'e and Concubine Qin. Xia Jin'e told Qin not to say anything, as she had her own plans.

Gu Yanxi brought the Hua family’s honey cakes to Gu Chengtao, who liked them very much. Just then, Prince Xian, Gu Yanggong, arrived. Seeing the flower design on the wrapping paper, he recognized the cakes as coming from the Hua family, but Gu Chengtao said nothing. Later, Gu Yanxi took the pastries Gu Yanggong had bought and gave them to Hua Zhi, asking her to study them. Unexpectedly, it started pouring rain.

Everyone crowded under the eaves to avoid getting wet. Gu Yanxi protected Hua Zhi from being squeezed until the rain stopped. When Gu Yanggong ordered his men to smash the stalls, he discovered Gu Yanxi was there too and had no choice but to buy out all the goods Hua Zhi was selling. Gu Yanggong thought Gu Yanxi was degrading himself to protect his own safety. Gu Yanxi exposed his own difficult situation to reassure Gu Yanggong.

As for the private minting case and Qi Ruhai’s slander, Gu Yanggong firmly denied being the mastermind. Gu Yanxi knew it wasn’t him either and subtly hinted at the true culprit. Gu Yanggong understood and was shocked to realize that the Gu Yanxi he had always envied was actually living such a pitiful life — born royal yet worse off than ordinary folk. Chan Lu, who served the First Madam, would secretly steal honey every few days.

Xia Jin'e deliberately caught her in the act and went to Hua Zhi, planning to use this to reclaim her authority over the household management.
