Yang Jinglan subtly reminded Ji Yingying not to act impulsively, quoting words he had said to her during their childhood. Ji Yingying recognized him—he was the older boy who had helped her back then. Under General Niu's coercion, the Shu Red Silk plaque at the entrance of the Brocade Officer's residence was altered, replacing Ji Guinan's name with Zhao Xiuyuan's. As Ji Yingying left the Zhao residence, Zhao Xiuyuan called out to her.

Ji Yingying questioned him about producing fake Shu Red Silk, which harmed the cause she cared about most. She told him she wished they had never met. Zhao Xiuyuan urged Ji Yingying not to challenge those in power. He acknowledged that the fake Shu Red Silk would hurt her, but he preferred to bear that burden himself.

Madam Ji persuaded Ji Yingying to give up on Shu Red Silk, but Ji Yingying insisted that she couldn’t accept such a reversal of truth. Madam Ji asked Ji Yaoting to look after Ji Yingying, but Ji Yaoting decided to give her space to cool down. Madam Ji knelt before Ji Guinan's memorial tablet, asking for his forgiveness, as her only wish was for the family to stay safe.

Ji Yingying dreamt of Ji Guinan walking through a snowy landscape, where all colors had faded into black and white. She knelt and apologized, blaming herself for failing to protect Shu Red Silk. Ji Guinan turned back toward her and told her not to be afraid. Ji Yingying then noticed blood and woke from her nightmare, crying in anguish. Ji Yaoting rushed in but didn’t know how to comfort her.

Putting aside her grief, Ji Yingying headed straight to the Brocade Officer's residence, only to find Yang Jinglan waiting for her at the entrance. They exchanged secret signals, and Ji Yingying realized he was her old friend. Years ago, as a child, Yang Jinglan had saved her from human traffickers. Later, when tragedy struck her family, he escorted her back to the Ji household and witnessed Ji Guinan’s death.

The words he spoke back then were the same ones he had repeated today. Ji Yingying accused Yang Jinglan of hiding the truth and, in desperation, tried to use a tactic against him. Yang Jinglan dismissed it as ineffective. She probed him for secrets about the mountain and offered to collaborate, asking for protection for the Ji family. Yang Jinglan promised to keep her safe. In return, Ji Yingying needed his help to recreate authentic Shu Red Silk.

The two went to Huanhua Creek, where Ji Yingying stepped into the water and asked Yang Jinglan to sprinkle dye into it. To succeed, she had to overcome her inner fear. After many attempts, Ji Yingying finally conquered her fear of flowing red water, enduring the pain. Yang Jinglan felt both distressed and relieved for her. Zhao Xiuyuan discovered that Niu Wuniang had replaced the red silk with Shu Red Silk but said nothing.

Niu Wuniang assured him she would help him become the Brocade King. Meanwhile, Ji Yingying repeatedly tried to dye Shu Red Silk but failed, unable to pinpoint the issue. Ji Yaoting reminded her that Ji Guinan must have left her clues. She recalled a pouch left by Ji Guinan, which indeed contained a poem hinting that pomegranates were the key to Shu Red Silk. Ji Yingying climbed the mountain alone to gather pomegranates but nearly fell off a cliff.

Fortunately, Yang Jinglan used his martial arts skills to save her. She noticed his other friends nearby, one of whom, Gao Fang, joked about revealing her identity, but Yang Jinglan quickly stopped him. Later, Yang Jinglan visited Shen Jinguang’s grave, vowing to continue investigating the truth. At the annual Brocade Competition, last year’s Brocade King, the Yang family, showcased their work first. Niu Wuniang dismissed it as unimpressive.

Seeing that Ji Yingying had yet to arrive, Yang Jinglan sent Zhuge Hong to find Gao Fang and the others for help. Gao Fang and his group finally located Niu Wuniang’s hideout on the mountain. Zhao Xiuyuan presented his masterpiece, and Niu Wuniang pressured Yang Jinglan to decide the winner. Yang Jinglan deliberately delayed. Suddenly, the Ji siblings appeared, carrying a kite. Its vibrant colors drew everyone's attention. Ji Yingying announced that this was the true Shu Red Silk.
