General Niu planned to threaten Yang Jinglan, using Ji Yingying’s exceptional skills as an excuse to place her in danger. However, Yang Jinglan refused to back down, asserting that he represented the conscience of upright court officials and was determined to purify the brocade industry in Yizhou. Suddenly, masked men in black appeared, creating chaos. Taking advantage of the distraction, Yang Jinglan jumped from the building.

General Niu blamed his subordinates for acting without orders, but they insisted that the masked individuals were not their people. The masked men pretended to attack Ji Yingying, but Ji Yaoting risked his life to protect her. When the leader of the masked group removed his disguise, he revealed himself to be Gao Fang, asking Ji Yingying to cooperate with him.

Ji Yingying, recognizing him, grabbed his sword and stabbed herself, saying they should "act thoroughly" to make the deception convincing. Prefect Sang arrived after receiving the news, only to find the masked attackers had fled. However, General Niu’s token was discovered at the scene. Prefect Sang, unwilling to involve himself in the matter, accused Yang Jinglan of orchestrating the incident. Soon after, General Niu led his men to the Ji residence, realizing it was all part of Yang Jinglan’s scheme.

Yang Jinglan calmly explained that he was responsible for supervising tribute brocade production and used General Niu’s token to turn the tables, demanding General Niu take responsibility for protecting Ji Yingying. He deliberately suggested that doing so would dispel any rumors. Ji Yingying played along, feigning grievance in front of everyone, saying that she and Niu Wuniang had unresolved personal disputes, which might lead to others exploiting their families’ connections.

General Niu was reluctant to agree, but Yang Jinglan threatened to report the matter to the military governor. Fearing repercussions, General Niu had no choice but to temporarily comply. Yang Jinglan intended to force General Niu into a position where he could not harm Ji Yingying. Yuyuan felt guilty, believing her capture had caused Niu Wuniang to suffer punishment.

However, Niu Wuniang reassured her, saying that Yuyuan had been her companion through difficult times and that she would prove herself without relying on any man. Zhao Xiuyuan barged in angrily, accusing Niu Wuniang of going back on her word and almost causing Ji Yingying’s death. Niu Wuniang retorted that she was in charge and mocked Zhao Xiuyuan for his lack of real authority. Yang Jinglan, meanwhile, expressed displeasure at Ji Yingying’s willingness to risk her life.

Ji Yingying argued that pretending to be attacked was a necessary strategy to prevent General Niu and his allies from retaliating. She understood that Yang Jinglan’s intention was to strike preemptively. While Yang Jinglan believed General Niu would not act against Ji Yingying for the time being, he worried that the presentation of the tribute brocade would bring greater danger.

Ji Yingying, determined to protect her family, aspired to become an imperial merchant so no one would dare bully the Ji family. She also handed over a list related to an old murder case, believing it could aid Yang Jinglan in his investigation. Zhao Xiuyuan sought to meet Ji Yingying, but Madam Ji refused, prioritizing her recovery. Yang Jinglan also barred them from meeting, stating there was no need for personal interaction during the brocade production.

Zhao Xiuyuan accused Yang Jinglan of hurting Ji Yingying, but Yang Jinglan retorted that Zhao Xiuyuan’s betrayal was far worse. Zhao Xiuyuan countered, saying Ji Yingying understood his actions. At the Zhao residence, Zhao Dalang complained to Old Master Zhao, claiming Zhao Xiuyuan’s involvement in the fake red silk scandal had disgraced their family. However, Old Master Zhao dismissed the complaint, emphasizing the importance of uniting the brocade houses to produce the tribute brocade.

Suddenly, Zhao Xiuyuan appeared, impersonating General Niu to publicly force Old Master Zhao to relinquish his position. Old Master Zhao scolded Zhao Xiuyuan for being overly ambitious, but when Zhao Xiuyuan had his men impersonate guards and issue threats, Old Master Zhao reluctantly gave in. Outside the Brocade Official’s Mansion, Yang Jinglan publicly announced that, due to Ji Yingying’s revival of Shu Red Silk, the establishment would be renamed in her honor. The crowd applauded enthusiastically.

Watching from inside a sedan chair, Zhao Xiuyuan clenched his fists in anger. Ji Yingying thought of Ji Guinan and felt she had lived up to his expectations. Later, Yang Jinglan invited Ji Yingying to the mansion and returned the Shu brocade retrieved by Shen Brocade Official. Ji Yingying speculated that in the old murder case, Ji Guinan had been framed as a scapegoat and that someone had deliberately forged the brocade.

A guard reported that Yang Juxian was requesting an audience. Yang Jinglan refused, unwilling to reconcile with him. Ji Yingying comforted him, encouraging him to follow his heart and reminding him they were allies. Meanwhile, Ning Dai, Cheng Fengze’s junior sister, discovered that infiltrating the brocade industry could start with the Niu, Zhao, and Xu families.

However, Cheng Fengze was dissatisfied with merely observing and launched a grand initiative, offering golden leaves as rewards to anyone who contributed designs for brocade production.
