Chen Sanlang supported Ji Yingying, and everyone used the full moon as a symbol to express their longing, spending the Mid-Autumn Festival together. Sang Shisi shared the recipe for his family's mooncakes. Zhu Xiaoniang gazed at him, making him a bit embarrassed. Zhu Xiaoniang confessed her feelings for him. Sang Shisi was stunned and awkwardly kissed her, only to be slapped by Zhu Xiaoniang, who scolded him for not being gentle enough before taking the initiative to kiss him back.

Ji Yingying looked up at the moon, recalling her conversation with Yang Jinglan. She had always seen Yang Jinglan as her moon and worried about his safety. Mulan, curious about the mooncakes, wanted to buy them, but Ji Yingying refused, explaining that mooncakes were gifts for family and friends. Instead, she gave Mulan some mooncakes, and this gesture brought them closer. Mulan opened up, saying she was a native of Nanzhao and could never produce Yizhou silk.

After speaking, she gave Ji Yingying a sachet. Zhao Xiuyuan came with a message, delivering a figurine carved by Yang Jinglan for Ji Yingying. In return, Ji Yingying offered him mooncakes, but Zhao Xiuyuan declined, saying he was unworthy as he had already learned of his family's demise. Hearing this, Ji Yingying grew concerned about her mother and brother in Yizhou, silently hoping for their safety. Yang Jinglan suffered a painful relapse of his addiction.

Cheng Fengze, gloating, believed this method would force Yang Jinglan to talk and reveal his plans. Despite the excruciating pain, Yang Jinglan declared that his plan was to leave Nanzhao. Cheng Fengze noticed the figurine on the ground and, in a fit of rage, smashed it against the wall. He vented his frustrations on Yang Jinglan, determined to let the addiction torment him further. Yang Jinglan secretly vowed to escape with Ji Yingying.

Meanwhile, General Niu was ruthlessly exploiting the Yizhou craftsmen, leaving the people in tears and despair. Ji Yaoting intended to intervene, but Ji Xu was worried. The next day, Ji Yaoting went to Jinguang Mansion to discuss with Zhuge Hong. He noted that although the Yang family brocade had been delivered, it couldn’t meet the high tribute demands of General Niu. Yang Jingshan agreed with their concerns, but Yu Shu had already acted first.

General Niu summoned Ji Yaoting and the other two to his residence, where they saw Yu Shu already there. Yu Shu explained that Yizhou’s craftsmen were dwindling and could no longer meet the tribute demands. General Niu questioned the three of them, and they agreed with Yu Shu’s assessment, stating that the excessive tribute would exhaust their resources, killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

General Niu recounted a story from his past, lamenting how he was humiliated by a Sichuan brocade family as a child. Smiling, he pretended to be reasonable, agreeing to accept a partial tribute. However, he suddenly drew his sword and killed Yu Shu. The three were dumbfounded as Yu Shu died clutching his family’s brocade, weeping for the Yu family.

Du Yan reported accusations against Cheng Fengze, claiming he had killed the Jiedushi, Mu Hui, and linked the harassment of Nanzhao’s borders to him. Cheng Fengze was furious and vowed to uncover the truth, knowing Yang Jinglan was behind it. Yang Jinglan proposed a deal, offering to resolve the border conflict, as Mu Hui’s former subordinates were merely his old acquaintances in disguise. Cheng Fengze agreed to let him see Ji Yingying.

Yang Jinglan demanded to take Sang Shisi with him, for Cheng Fengze to write a letter admitting collusion with General Niu, and for Cheng Fengze to promise not to harm Ji Yingying for a year. Mulan created new silk, but Chen Sanlang criticized her work. The two bickered, each holding their own opinions. Zhao Xiuyuan suggested a competition, which they both accepted. Cheng Fengze allowed Yang Jinglan and Ji Yingying to meet from a distance.

Yang Jinglan showed her a sword tassel as a signal, while Ji Yingying responded with her bracelet. They bid each other farewell, reassuring one another. Chihu escorted Yang Jinglan and the others to the Tang border, leaving them to travel back to Chang’an on their own. Suddenly, Yang Jinglin appeared. They had been waiting for Yang Jinglan and had prepared travel documents to ensure their safe passage. Yang Jinglin admired Yang Jinglan’s actions, as they all shared the desire to protect Yizhou.
