As night fell, Shen Du joined the dinner, intentionally brightening the lights. He casually mentioned Han Shiyuan’s family, trying to probe into his background, but Han Shiyuan straightforwardly claimed he had no relatives. Observing this, Yan Xing skillfully intervened to shield Han Shiyuan and clashed subtly with Shen Du, creating a delicate atmosphere. Ultimately, Yan Xing suggested that everyone leave first, and Shen Du, before departing, couldn't resist provoking Han Shiyuan, leaving a lingering tension.

Late at night, alone with Shen Du, Yan Xing was puzzled by Shen Du's behavior toward Han Shiyuan and asked why he had mocked him. Shen Du only smiled and remained silent. They looked at each other, and Shen Du proposed they return together. Yan Xing declined, but Shen Du insisted on carrying her, claiming it was to show marital harmony.

Upon reaching Yan Xing's bedroom, faced with a single bed, Yan Xing offered to sleep on the bedroll, but Shen Du, citing his injury, invited Yan Xing to sleep together. Though embarrassed, Yan Xing agreed, and they shared the bed. As the night deepened, neither of them could sleep, their gazes meeting with shyness. Yan Xing tried to escape but found the candlelight had gone out, so she stepped outside to gaze at the full moon.

Unexpectedly, Shen Du followed her, saying that the extinguished candlelight made it difficult for him to sleep. Yan Xing, curious about Shen Du's candle obsession, learned that he had a condition called "squinting eyes. " Yan Xing realized this and tested him, discovering Shen Du indeed could not see properly. Shen Du recalled similar words from his childhood and, overcome with emotion, gently touched Yan Xing, rekindling feelings between them.

At dawn, Shen Du and Yan Xing awoke from their dreams, Yan Xing nestled in Shen Du’s arms. Shen Du gently stroked Yan Xing’s hair, but their peace was disrupted by urgent reports from his subordinates. Yan Xing woke up, blushing slightly, and found it hard to hide her embarrassment in front of Shen Du. Han Shiyuan suddenly appeared, kneeling and revealing a shocking secret: his parents had another son, Zhang Baohuan. This revelation stunned everyone.

Princess Yong’an had manipulated Han Shiyuan using this secret. Han Shiyuan refused to acknowledge his half-brother due to deep resentment—years ago, when his sister was in peril, Zhang Baohuan failed to help her. His sister had been the head of Jinxiu Workshop, and her death was brutal, leaving Han Shiyuan with a deep grudge. Yan Xing, however, defended Zhang Baohuan, suggesting he might have had his own difficulties. Han Shiyuan remembered the tragic scene vividly, his pain indescribable.

His love for Yan Caiwei was unwavering, but Yan Kuo hesitated about the marriage, and the Yan family was already in turmoil, unable to withstand more troubles. Han Shiyuan faced the truth calmly, accepted the consequences, and left, leaving Yan Caiwei in tears and heartbroken. Shen Du went to the palace and informed Xu Wan of Han Shiyuan's background, requesting confidentiality.

Shen Du seemed to sense the appearance of the little girl he had encountered in his childhood but had found no leads previously. Xu Wan comforted Shen Du, advising him to cherish her if he ever met her. Despite the heavy criticism Shen Du faced, he had his own plans and kept them well-guarded from others. Yan Xing put great effort into treating Shen Du's squinting eyes, preparing a special medicinal soup.

Though it smelled terrible, Shen Du was grateful and forced himself to drink it all. At noon, Jing Lin arrived with special dishes for Yan Xing and included a note explaining the mystery of Shen Du's night-time lighting. He humorously remarked that if they wished to keep it a secret, they should finish all the food. Shen Du could only smile wryly and comply.

Shen Du met with Chen Shoujie to review Jinxiu Workshop's fabrics, reflecting on past emotions and feeling unsettled. The case had far-reaching implications, and everyone associated with Jinxiu Workshop had become a target. Meanwhile, Han Shiyuan was suddenly abducted by Princess Yong’an’s men, adding further complications. Yan Xing, undeterred by Shen Du's mood, remained steadfast in her support and continued to strategize for her husband, showing deep affection and resilience.
