Shen Du's thoughts drifted back to the past, where under his mother's stern gaze, he was forced to face a difficult choice. His mother, prioritizing the family's honor and the clearing of their name, pressured him to write a confession in exchange for a slim chance of survival. Shen Du resolutely refused, firmly believing in his father's innocence and vowing not to compromise.

This scene was deeply imprinted in his mind, becoming the driving force behind his commitment to justice and his fearlessness in the face of power. Yan Xing returned to the Shice Archive, but Lu Chuichui quickly pulled her away when she saw her. Although the others had complex feelings about Yan Xing, they were helpless in the situation.

Yan Xing reflected on her difficulty sleeping at the Shice Archive, yet she found peace and comfort in the Shen residence, perhaps due to her dependence on a bright environment. Elsewhere, Chen Shoujie encountered a dire situation, being tied beneath a beam while charcoal burned fiercely, leaving his life hanging by a thread. Shen Du and Yan Xing rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, and Yan Xing keenly noticed the similarity to the previous incidents involving Han Shiyuan and the Third Sister, deepening the mystery. At that moment, Ji Fangming appeared sneakily and was caught on the spot.

He claimed he was there to gather evidence for the fire incident but unexpectedly ran into Yan Xing and the others. Another tragedy was reported in the eastern part of the city, where someone had been burned to death, making the case even more confusing. Shen Du and Yan Xing privately discussed Ji Fangming, both finding his behavior unusual and overly concerned with Yan Xing and the others' reactions.

Yan Xing suspected that the fire incident was actually an attempt to destroy evidence, and Ji Fangming might be one of the masterminds behind it. To uncover the truth, Yan Xing approached Ji Fangming and deliberately leaked false information that Chen Shoujie had confessed, hoping to draw out more clues. However, the case was complex, and higher authorities had already ordered the investigation to stop, with Chen Shoujie possibly facing secret execution.

Knowing the difficult road ahead, Yan Xing became even more determined to pursue the truth to the end. As expected, Ji Fangming sneaked into the prison, attempting to kill Chen Shoujie, but Shen Du and the others arrived just in time to stop him. Under interrogation, the truth gradually emerged: Ji Fangming had once been close to Kong Xianrong, the original owner of Jinxiu Workshop.
