Cute Bad Guy Synopsis

Xia Yumeng, a brainy cartoonist, has been a "salty fish" all her life. She creates a villain, Shen Mingxi, in her cartoon work.

Then Shen Mingxi travels through time and space to Xia Yumeng's world and gets involved in her emotional entanglement with the dream boy, Bai Ze, and a series of beautiful and heartwarming youthful anecdotes ensues.

During the summer vacation, art student Xia Yumeng created a romantic comic book titled "Surprise, the Campus Prince Loves Me" based on the prototype of the school's heartthrob Bai Ze. In the comic, Bai Ze and Xia Yumeng were about to kiss sweetly when Shen Mingxi appeared and ruined the moment. To get back at Shen Mingxi, Xia Yumeng added a plot twist that made him weak on rainy days. Suddenly, lightning struck and Xia Yumeng's comic book was blown away. One page of the comic was blown into the darkness and the character of Shen Mingxi disappeared. Xia Yumeng woke up from her dream to find out that she had been sleeping.

Unexpectedly, on the first day of school, Xia Yumeng met a male student who looked exactly like the character of Shen Mingxi in her comic book. He would turn evil whenever he saw Bai Ze and would fight him on campus. In a critical moment, Xia Yumeng stopped him.

Xia Yumeng follows Shen Mingxi and realizes that everything around him is the same as in her comic book, confirming that he is the person who came from her comic book world to reality. Shen Mingxi asks Xia Yumeng about the reason for all his unusual behavior, but to deceive him, she lies and claims that he lost his memory and they are childhood friends, promising to help him recover his memory.

To stop Shen Mingxi from reenacting the fighting scenes from her comic book on campus, Xia Yumeng intercepts other students. However, she accidentally bumps into Bai Ze and pretends to be injured. Bai Ze takes her to the infirmary and adds her on WeChat. While she is happy, she finds out that Shen Mingxi is still fighting with other students. Xia Yumeng remembers the blackening plotline for Shen Mingxi in her comic book and decides to remove him from the story.

Xia Yumeng was carrying her milk tea and found Shen Mingxi waiting for her at the convenience store. She was forced to promise to help Shen Mingxi regain his memory. To cover up her lie, Xia Yumeng deliberately greeted the old man in the community and asked him to tell Shen Mingxi that she was his childhood friend. Unexpectedly, when they asked together, the old man told Shen Mingxi that Xia Yumeng was his ex-girlfriend. Xia Yumeng went to find a human model with her roommate. When Shen Mingxi came to find Xia Yumeng, she pushed him away, saying that she would accompany him to find his memory after school. After school, Xia Yumeng accidentally met Bai Ze outside the medical classroom. Bai Ze apologized for the incident when he bumped into Xia Yumeng last time and volunteered to be her model. While they were drawing, Shen Mingxi suddenly interrupted and saw Bai Ze, causing him to undergo a sudden change in personality. Xia Yumeng stopped him and the jealous Shen Mingxi demanded that Xia Yumeng live with him.

Xia Yumeng proposes to sign a contract with Shen Mingxi, with the consequence of being afflicted by the backlash of the contract if violated. In school, Shen Mingxi keeps his distance from Xia Yumeng, following the agreement. However, he sees her drawing with Bai Ze and gets jealous. Shen Mingxi walks over and applies to be their model, but Xia Yumeng cannot stop looking at him. When they return to the villa, Shen Mingxi tells Xia Yumeng that he doesn't understand why he targets Bai Ze. Xia Yumeng remembers the blackening scene she set for Shen Mingxi in the comic and worries, deciding to stay with Shen Mingxi for the next few days. Xia Yumeng's worries become a reality in class, but due to her interference, the blackening event does not go smoothly. Xia Yumeng realizes that this is not a solution and talks to Shen Mingxi, expressing her hope that he can be friends with Bai Ze.

Shen Mingxi's roommate Han Feiyang is pursuing Lin Luoluo, so Shen Mingxi asks him for advice and learns that in order to change his relationship with Xia Yumeng, he should become friends with her friends. So Shen Mingxi bribes his roommates with food, and the other girls tell him that Xia Yumeng has a crush on someone. Shen Mingxi says he knows she likes Bai Ze and that he likes Bai Ze too. Shen Mingxi takes everyone to the place where he and Bai Ze rehearse for the welcoming party and publicly announces that Xia Yumeng is closer to him than just a friend, leaving everyone confused. Xia Yumeng and Bai Ze are having lunch in the cafeteria when Shen Mingxi shows up. Xia Yumeng notices that Shen Mingxi and Bai Ze are getting closer and Shen Mingxi is trying hard to be nice to Bai Ze, even ignoring Xia Yumeng. Xia Yumeng becomes increasingly angry as she sees this scene.

Shen Mingxi helps Lin Luoluo in the lab and she falls in love with him. Xia Yumeng is intercepted by thugs looking for Lin Luoluo at school, but Shen Mingxi appears, apologizes to the thugs, and takes Xia Yumeng away. He explains to Xia Yumeng that his apology was because he promised to control his temper, but after Xia Yumeng leaves, Shen Mingxi becomes angry and beats up three thugs. When Xia Yumeng returns to the art studio, she finds that it's raining outside and worries about Shen Mingxi's safety, so she calls him. Lin Luoluo answers the phone and tells Xia Yumeng that Shen Mingxi is injured. When Xia Yumeng goes to the infirmary, she finds out that Shen Mingxi has gone back to fight again. She is worried about his injury, but also praises his chivalry in fighting. Shen Mingxi doesn't want Xia Yumeng to worry about him, so he performs a magic trick to make her laugh. Back at the villa, Xia Yumeng helps Shen Mingxi apply medicine, and their ambiguous feelings for each other grow stronger during the process.

After returning to school, Xia Yumeng decided to take responsibility for what was about to happen to Han Feiyang. She found him rehearsing in the classroom for a performance and pretended to be a friend of Lin Luoluo to brainwash him. She successfully convinced him to change the performance to a dance. While having lunch in the cafeteria, Xia Yumeng reconciled Shen Mingxi and Han Feiyang and informed Han Feiyang that Shen Mingxi had been injured while helping Lin Luoluo. Xia Yumeng taught Han Feiyang to dance in the dance studio, refused Shen Mingxi's lunch invitation, and experimented with magic with Bai Ze. They also painted together, all of which Shen Mingxi saw. At the backstage of the welcome party, Shen Mingxi questioned Xia Yumeng about who she really liked. Their argument resulted in Han Feiyang's dance being ruined. At this moment, in front of the entire school, Shen Mingxi kissed Xia Yumeng.

After being misunderstood by her classmates several times, Xia Yumeng breaks down and meets Bai Ze. She explains to him that her prank on the night of the party was just a joke, and Bai Ze tells her that he plans to recommend Shen Mingxi to a medical conference. Xia Yumeng then meets Han Feiyang and tells him that everyone thinks she and Shen Mingxi are in a relationship, which makes Lin Luoluo give up on him, and it becomes Han Feiyang's chance to be with her. Suddenly, it starts raining, and Xia Yumeng goes to find Shen Mingxi, who is in a physical education class. However, he accidentally twists his hand during class. Shen Mingxi tells Xia Yumeng that he is not afraid of the rain because of her, and they become closer. On the way home, Xia Yumeng confesses the truth about the comic to Shen Mingxi, but she unexpectedly finds out that he had already known the truth. Xia Yumeng gets angry that Shen Mingxi didn't tell her and leaves.

Xia Yumeng searched for Shen Mingxi at the villa and the classroom but couldn't find him. After returning to the dormitory, she received a call informing her that he was attempting suicide by scissors at the park. Upon arriving at the scene, Xia Yumeng was heartbroken to see the situation. Shen Mingxi stubbornly stated that since he was set up as a bad guy, he would play the role of a bad guy. Shen Mingxi caused a scene in the park and tried various methods of suicide, all of which ended in failure. Xia Yumeng told him that he couldn't die. Shen Mingxi stood up for a flower seller and fought off some thugs in the park, and Han Feiyang also joined in. Xia Yumeng received another call and learned that Shen Mingxi and Han Feiyang were taken to the police station. Xia Yumeng and Shen Mingxi returned to the villa, and Xia Yumeng was angry that Shen Mingxi made her worry. Shen Mingxi told her his thoughts and worries, and Xia Yumeng told him that he should live for himself.

At noon, the dormitory sisters, Lin Luoluo and several boys, had an awkward meal together. Yuan Yilin developed feelings for Han Feiyang. Meanwhile, Xia Yumeng was painting in the villa when Shen Mingxi suddenly kissed her and said they both had feelings for each other. Xia Yumeng reflected on their time together and realized that she liked Shen Mingxi, but decided to move out of the villa to calm down. As she was leaving during a sudden thunderstorm, her father saw her crying and had a bad impression of Shen Mingxi. He demanded that his daughter cut ties with him and escorted her to and from school.

Xia Yumeng was late, and her roommates were concerned about her. However, Xia Yumeng got angry with everyone because of her bad mood, and her three roommates decided to help her. They found Han Feiyang to understand the situation, and he returned to the dormitory to find that Shen Mingxi had moved back. Han Feiyang and several girls noticed that there was a problem with his and Xia Yumeng's relationship, mistakenly thinking that the two were really living together. Shen Mingxi found Xia Yumeng's clothes when packing up and remembered their relationship. Shen Mingxi avoided Xia Yumeng in the cafeteria, and Xia Yumeng was sad. Shen Mingxi saw the disappointed Xia Yumeng and went to comfort her. Yuan Yilin and Han Feiyang met to inquire about Shen Mingxi's information. Han Feiyang revealed that everything Shen Mingxi did was for Xia Yumeng. Yuan Yilin and Han Feiyang argued with each other, but they both developed feelings for each other in their hearts.

In the comic, Xia Yumeng drew various tragic scenes for Shen Mingxi, but she herself suffered from it. Shen Mingxi called to inquire about her situation and offered to bring her medicine, but she refused. Shen Mingxi blocked Xia Yumeng at the classroom door and forced her to reveal the truth, promising to protect her. Xia Yumeng suggested they meet after she finished the comic. After finishing the comic, Xia Yumeng realized that she couldn't blame Shen Mingxi for her misfortune and sent him a message to meet, but they ended up experiencing the car accident from the comic. Xia Yumeng confessed her feelings to Shen Mingxi, who then kissed her. When Xia Yumeng's three roommates went to visit her in the hospital, they ran into her father, and lied that they were the ones who brought her to the hospital. They noticed that Shen Mingxi was happy and Xia Yumeng was not herself, and questioned the two until Xia Yumeng admitted that they were together.

Bai Ze met Lin Luoluo at the library when she couldn't borrow a book. He voluntarily helped her with a problem and the two became more and more compatible as they chatted over tea and took a walk together. At the end of the night, Bai Ze followed Lin Luoluo home, gave her a notebook, and kissed her, officially beginning their relationship.

Xia Yumeng confessed to her dad about her relationship with Shen Mingxi, and he requested to meet him. Shen Mingxi, Xia Yumeng, and her dad had an awkward dinner together at home. The more Shen Mingxi talked, the more Xia Yumeng's dad misunderstood. Xia Yumeng's dad got drunk, and Shen Mingxi offered to stay and take care of him. In the middle of the night, Xia Yumeng's dad woke up and secretly observed them, but Shen Mingxi noticed and took care of him when he pretended to vomit. The next morning, Shen Mingxi won Xia Yumeng's dad's approval by making breakfast, and Xia Yumeng's dad suggested meeting Shen Mingxi's parents. Xia Yumeng lied and said that Shen Mingxi's parents were abroad.

Shen Mingxi and Xia Yumeng are troubled about how to find Shen Mingxi's parents. In the art studio, Xia Yumeng confides her troubles to Yuan Yilin, who helps Xia Yumeng find actors to play Shen Mingxi's parents. Shen Mingxi, Xia Yumeng, Xia's father, and the two actors who play Shen Mingxi's parents have dinner together. Xia's father recognizes them as actors who have worked together before, and their identities are almost revealed. Shen Mingxi and Xia Yumeng send Xia's drunken father home. Xia Yumeng sends Shen Mingxi home and confesses her love to him again, and they kiss. Xia Yumeng tells Yuan Yilin that she feels uneasy about deceiving her father, and Yuan Yilin says that she and Shen Mingxi are very sweet together. Xia Yumeng decides to invite everyone to dinner together. While studying in the dormitory, Shen Mingxi realized that his pen was missing and knew he had a problem. He kept it a secret from Xia Yumeng and made an excuse to go back to the villa. After observing that everything was fine at the villa, Shen Mingxi's phone suddenly disappeared while he was talking to Xia Yumeng. He went to the store to buy a new phone to contact her. Xia Yumeng became worried after the call was abruptly ended and went to the villa to find him.

Xia Yumeng finally meets Shen Mingxi, who holds her tightly, but he doesn't tell her the truth. Xia Yumeng takes Shen Mingxi to the place where she spent her childhood, and tells him that the setting for the comic she gave him is related to her own experiences. Shen Mingxi gets a job as a convenience store clerk, and brings breakfast to Xia Yumeng. Xia Yumeng notices that Shen Mingxi is not in good spirits, and tells him to rest well. Shen Mingxi watches as the furniture and decorations in the villa's living room gradually disappear, with each missing item appearing in his sketchbook. Xia Yumeng discovers that her watch is missing, and her roommates claim to have no knowledge of it. Han Feiyang tells her that Shen Mingxi has been sleeping in class lately and asks her to talk to him. Xia Yumeng realizes that something is wrong, but Shen Mingxi doesn't admit to anything.

Xia Yumeng sent a message to Shen Mingxi, suggesting that they go out together. The two of them played with the llama in the park, and Xia Yumeng told Shen Mingxi the reason why she had set the llama for him. Suddenly, the llama disappeared on the grassland, and Xia Yumeng cried sadly. On the way back, Xia Yumeng was determined to spend the remaining time with Shen Mingxi. Xia Yumeng and Shen Mingxi went to a homestay to celebrate the festival, and Xia Yumeng showed Shen Mingxi that her watch was also gone. Xia Yumeng takes her sunflower to school and sees a student who looks like Shen Mingxi. She follows him into the classroom and learns that he is a new student in the medical class, also named Shen Mingxi. Xia Yumeng sits next to Shen Mingxi, but he doesn't recognize her. Shen Mingxi thinks Xia Yumeng's behavior towards him is a sign of affection, but Xia Yumeng explains their complicated relationship. Shen Mingxi can't recall their past, and Xia Yumeng decides to move on.

Three years later, Xia Yumeng's father calls her to say that he has booked a hotel for her birthday celebration that night. Xia Yumeng sits at the dining table absentmindedly, still thinking about the missing alpaca. Xia Yumeng's father stands up to welcome his childhood friend, who Xia Yumeng discovers is Shen Mingxi.
