> Dawn Amidst Hidden Clouds Recap

Lan Che informed Xiao Luo and Xiao Dao that Hua Li was actually Leng Qingyao. Xiao Luo asked if Lou Mingye had verified this, wondering how Hua Li could suddenly turn out to be Leng Qingyao. Lan Che replied that the timing and details Hua Li mentioned all matched up, so it seemed likely. Xiao Luo asked what she was planning to do.

Lan Che responded that she had nothing to do with Lou Mingye, so there was no need for any "plan. " Xiao Luo commented that everyone could tell Lan Che obviously had feelings for Lou Mingye. Lan Che replied that even if something belonged to someone else, she wouldn’t want it. Xiao Luo remarked that this might not be the case. She pointed out that Leng Qingyao was only Lou Mingye’s childhood playmate.

When his playmate went missing, of course, he’d want to find her, but Lan Che and Lou Mingye had been through so much life and death together. Their relationship was different now. Xiao Luo encouraged Lan Che to be brave and compete with Leng Qingyao, assuring her that both she and Xiao Dao would be her strong supporters. Meanwhile, Lou Mingye took Hua Li to a room, telling her she could stay there.

Hua Li replied that she had gotten used to drifting around on her own, so having a place that sheltered her from the elements made her happy. As she spoke, she reached out to hold Lou Mingye’s hand, but he quickly moved away. Hua Li asked if he didn’t trust her and pulled her collar slightly aside to reveal a crescent-shaped scar. Hua Li asked if he remembered it, and Lou Mingye confirmed that he did, urging her to rest.

Fang Tingge then approached Lou Mingye, expressing his suspicion about the sudden appearance of Hua Li claiming to be Leng Qingyao. He said he would investigate her identity in the coming days. Lou Mingye agreed, noting that Tuo Jiduo’s strange death might indicate someone was orchestrating these events deliberately. In the meantime, Lan Che felt happy after her conversation with Xiao Luo and Xiao Dao. The next morning, she cheerfully prepared some buns to bring breakfast to Lou Mingye.

Just as she called out to him, she noticed Hua Li arriving with a bowl of porridge for Lou Mingye, saying, "Didn’t you love drinking my homemade porridge when you were young? " She wasn’t sure if Lou Mingye’s tastes had changed over the years, so she brought both sugar and salt for him to adjust the flavor. Lan Che interjected, saying that she now knew Lou Mingye’s taste best and would season it for him.

She then added a generous amount of salt to the porridge, inviting Lou Mingye to taste it. Lou Mingye said it was fine, as he couldn’t taste the difference. Lan Che then added the same amount of salt to the other bowl and handed it to Hua Li, suggesting that she try it too so she could learn Lou Mingye’s preferences for the future. Hua Li took one taste and spat it out.

Just as she was about to speak, Lan Che quickly commented that Lou Mingye thought it was great, and Lou Mingye hurriedly agreed. Defeated, Hua Li held her bowl of buns, saying she was off to deliver them to Li Mo, and hurriedly left. Lan Che found Li Mo on patrol in the street, and they chatted about why so many young women were fanatically pursuing a certain man.

Li Mo explained that the man was Jun Zichen, the star of Zhuyuan Theater. Lan Che wondered what all the fuss was about since they couldn’t even see his face. A girl overheard and asked if Lan Che was badmouthing their idol, startling Lan Che into denying it. Back at the Dali Temple, Lou Mingye came out upon hearing about this.

He overheard Li Mo inviting Lan Che to the theater that evening, and Lan Che, glancing at Lou Mingye, promptly accepted. Lou Mingye remarked that he’d be staying behind to review case files, and Lan Che sarcastically responded, "Go ahead, since you have Hua Li to serve you tea. "That evening, just as Lan Che and Li Mo sat down to watch the play, Lou Mingye arrived too.

Lan Che asked why he wasn’t studying case files, and Lou Mingye replied that he couldn't concentrate without someone to serve him tea. Backstage, the lead actor, Jun Zichen, had arrived late, prompting his rival, Jie Jiulian, to step in as his replacement. However, just in time, Jun Zichen returned, and the two quarreled briefly but eventually performed together for the sake of the show.

At the end of the performance, Jun Zichen’s character was supposed to be stabbed in the heart with an awl, but he didn’t get up after the scene concluded. Sensing something wrong, Lou Mingye went to investigate and discovered that Jun Zichen had been murdered. The person wielding the iron awl was Qiao Qi, and Lou Mingye questioned him about the murder. Qiao Qi denied it, claiming that someone had swapped his weapon and that he wasn’t the killer.
