Chi Jingyu heard that a famous doctor appeared in the Qingluan Society who could cure the strange illness he and Lan Xiaoyu were suffering from. He took the risk of entering the Qingluan Society's territory with Lan Xiaoyu. However, before they could find the famous doctor, they both fainted and woke up to find themselves in a place covered with talismans.
Chi Jingyu thought the person in front of him was the great master, but it turned out that the so-called master was just a swindler in the martial world. Lan Xiaoyu exposed the fraud and even chatted with him, asking how he managed to expand his business into the Qingluan Society's territory and requested their help in promoting it. In an attempt to guide the fraudster onto the right path, Lan Xiaoyu gave him some money, which touched the swindler. Although he couldn't cure the soul-switching ailment they had, he believed that their condition was due to karma and would naturally be resolved when their karma was fulfilled.
After Chi Jingyu and Lan Xiaoyu woke up again, they found themselves lying under a tree. The Qingluan Society's people approached Chi Jingyu, not knowing that Lan Xiaoyu was currently in control. They asked him to go on a mission. The real Chi Jingyu was worried about Lan Xiaoyu's safety, but Lan Xiaoyu assured him that she would come back and asked him to take care of the Crown Prince in case she couldn't return.
Chi Jingyu returned to the Qingluan Society to meet the leader and explained that his delay was due to suspicions of a traitor within the organization. He wanted to investigate first before reporting back. The leader ordered for the severely injured Xuan Niao to be brought forward, claiming that he was the traitor. Xuan Niao had first drugged Chi Jingyu and then informed Prime Minister Cao that someone was trying to assassinate him, putting the blame on Chi Jingyu to kill Xuan Niao.
