Qin Chang had been quietly waiting for Song Mingmei to come over. He originally wanted her to eat a bit more, but she was anxious to go back. Qin Chang didn't bring up her illness and simply took her home. After returning, Song Mingmei hugged Yulin tightly, feeling sad. Yulin wished to never be separated from her mother. Song Mingmei couldn’t bear to part with her daughter, but she also feared that her illness would ultimately separate them.

Meanwhile, Qin Chang sent Song Mingmei’s medical report to a doctor friend, seeking help to find a treatment. Ding Zhitong voluntarily exited the training pod. While running together, she learned that Gan Yang also intended to withdraw Langteng from the training pod. The company’s raw materials had not found a suitable buyer. Ding Zhitong proactively offered to cooperate and help sell the goods.

They shook hands to mark the pleasant cooperation, only to look up and see Wang Yi and Xu Chenxi acting intimately. They scolded the two for secretly dating behind their backs. Xu Chenxi deliberately held Wang Yi’s hand and loudly declared they were indeed in a relationship. Gan Yang pretended to be upset and asked the restaurant owner to prepare the two most delicious dishes to go. Ding Zhitong couldn’t help but laugh on the side.

Gan Yang signed the transfer agreement, handing the training pod over to Wang Sen, but also declared that he would never let go of what truly mattered to him. Gan Yang told Ding Zhitong he planned to move the company back to Putian and leave Shanghai. Putian was where Langteng had developed and where the shoe factory was located. Ding Zhitong worried it might trigger a wave of resignations, but Gan Yang believed it was the best way to cut costs and was confident he would return soon. Gan Yang announced the decision to relocate to Putian and assured that salaries would remain unchanged.

Those who didn’t go would receive three months' extra salary and a recommendation letter to another company. A young woman was the first to express her willingness to go to Putian, followed by others raising their hands one after another—no one wanted to resign. Ding Zhitong watched with tears welling in her eyes. Gan Yang publicly promised to move back to Shanghai within a year. The crowd applauded, and Gan Yang bowed deeply to thank everyone.

Qin Chang took the initiative to find Song Mingmei. She brought him along to wear an exaggerated wig and blow bubbles on the street, then went dancing. While dancing, a guy approached her, but Qin Chang stepped in and forcefully carried her outside. He knew Song Mingmei didn’t actually want to play, nor was she truly happy—it was all pretend. Qin Chang brought up the time six years ago when he saw her off at the airport.

He regretted not confessing and not waiting for her return. He promised to stay by her side in the future, through everything, including her illness. Qin Chang took out the ring he had prepared long ago and proposed to Song Mingmei, vowing to stay by her side forever. On one knee, he earnestly asked her to marry him. With tears in her eyes, Song Mingmei slipped the ring onto her finger and loudly said yes.

She also blamed Qin Chang for making her wait six years. The two kissed passionately. After learning the identity of the buyer for the materials, Ding Zhitong rushed to tell Gan Yang. Gan Yang hugged her in excitement and kissed her passionately. But in the midst of passion, Ding Zhitong suddenly seemed to think of something. She immediately pushed Gan Yang away and hurried home. Sitting in the dark room, she repeatedly told herself she must not.

The next day, Gan Yang prepared breakfast and brought it to Ding Zhitong, but she had already left by car. He called her, and Ding Zhitong’s tears fell as she said they should never meet again. When Gan Yang pressed for a reason, she claimed she had already left and planned to be away from Shanghai for a few days. She had said all she needed to say. Gan Yang couldn’t understand what had happened—what that kiss meant.

He clearly felt that she had him in her heart, yet she kept pushing him away. Ding Zhitong cruelly hung up, but tears flowed uncontrollably. At work, Gan Yang felt heartache seeing Wang Yi and Xu Chenxi being sweet, thinking of Ding Zhitong. Xu Chenxi guessed that perhaps something happened to Ding Zhitong that Gan Yang didn’t know about. That’s when Gan Yang suddenly realized and ran to find Song Mingmei, hoping to learn what was going on.

Back then, when Ding Zhitong heard that Gan Yang wanted to break up, she rushed to find him at night. But she misunderstood him to be with Xu Chenxi and left heartbroken. Upon returning home, her mother suddenly passed away. Ding Zhitong didn’t even get to see her one last time. Afterward, she fainted several times and was taken to the hospital by Feng Sheng, who cared for her.

Out of gratitude, she agreed to marry Feng Sheng, but she was never able to love him and decisively called off the engagement. Gan Yang came to Ding Zhitong’s mother’s grave to pay his respects. Ding Zhitong revealed that on the day she went to find Gan Yang, she had planned to return that night. But there were no buses, so she stayed at a hotel in Putian. That night she developed a high fever.

Her mother called, concerned why she wasn’t back at the agreed time. Ding Zhitong explained she had a fever, but just then her phone died. She got up to find a charger. Her mother, thinking something had happened, panicked and stood up—only to accidentally fall and never wake up again. When Ding Zhitong woke up again, it was already the next afternoon. The hotel staff came to check on her and found she had been unconscious for a long time.

They tried to contact her family but found her phone was dead, so they charged it for her. When she turned it on, she immediately got a call from Feng Sheng—her mother had passed away. Ding Zhitong rushed to the hospital and knelt in front of her mother’s bed, crying. Gan Yang was also full of guilt. If not for the breakup, none of this would have happened. Ding Zhitong said it wasn’t his fault.

At first, she blamed and hated him, rejected him, and was afraid to recall the past. She tried to forget him but couldn’t. Gan Yang asked whether there was truly no way back for the two of them.
