Gan Yang packed his things and returned to Putian with Wang Yi, Xu Chenxi, and the others. Watching them leave, Yuan Chao believed that Gan Yang would definitely come back because he had never been someone easily defeated. However, Wang Sen disagreed, convinced that Gan Yang wouldn’t be able to return, and vowed to stop him. Gan Yang and Wang Yi’s group arrived at the station but didn’t see Ding Zhitong off.

In his heart, Gan Yang quietly said goodbye to her. At the same time, Ding Zhitong looked up at the airplane in the sky from her room and silently said goodbye to Gan Yang as well. Song Mingmei went to the hospital for chemotherapy accompanied by Qin Chang. Qin Chang held her hand the entire time, easing her anxiety. When she woke up, the procedure was already over.

Song Mingmei wanted to look at herself in the mirror, just hoping she still looked beautiful to Qin Chang. Even though the effects of chemotherapy were harsh, she forced herself to endure them and didn’t want Qin Chang to see. But Qin Chang saw anyway, and held her gently to comfort her. After Ding Zhitong was promoted, she received a bottle full of paper cranes, which reminded her that Gan Yang had once given her the same thing.

Getting promoted had always been her dream, but now that it came true, she didn’t feel happy. That day, she took a bus to clear her mind and thought she saw Gan Yang beside her. She couldn’t help wondering what he was doing. She then went to the place where they once watched a concert together, missing him even more. Wang Sen came to see Ding Zhitong, and she noticed his feelings for her.

She spoke openly and clearly with him, expressing that no one could ever replace Gan Yang in her heart. Even when she first taught Wang Sen how to breathe while running, it was Gan Yang who had taught her. She drank coffee because of Gan Yang. He made her feel more human. So not just in the past, but now and in the future, she would only love Gan Yang.

That night, Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong went running in different cities, both missing each other. On the same night, driven by jealousy, Wang Sen approached Shu Chi to collaborate in an attempt to suppress Langteng. When Ding Zhitong found out about Gan Yang’s situation, she called Song Mingmei, hoping she could use their tacit connection to promote Gan Yang. But Song Mingmei told her that if she truly cared about Gan Yang, she should care personally.

Song Mingmei revealed she had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Even if she didn’t do anything, she believed Ding Zhitong wouldn’t blame her. Right now, she just wanted to enjoy life and live well with Qin Chang. Ding Zhitong immediately booked a flight to see Song Mingmei, not believing she was truly ill. Song Mingmei had no choice but to show her the medical report. Ding Zhitong then promised she would stay by her side no matter what.

Ding Zhitong accompanied Song Mingmei to the hospital for chemotherapy. Song Mingmei deliberately left her name off the records and sent a photo of the medical case to Gan Yang, making him think it was Ding Zhitong who had cancer. Gan Yang immediately dropped everything and rushed to the hospital, only to find out it was Song Mingmei who was sick. He was genuinely shocked.

Ding Zhitong told Gan Yang she had also done a checkup and all her health indicators were normal. Gan Yang let out a relieved smile. They both showed concern for each other’s lives, reminding each other to eat and run properly. As Gan Yang left, he told Ding Zhitong that he would always be waiting. Song Mingmei urged Ding Zhitong to let go of the past.

She believed that if her mother were still alive, she wouldn’t want to see her daughter like this either. Ding Zhitong understood but admitted she still felt conflicted inside and just needed more time. Song Mingmei didn’t push her further. As Ding Zhitong and Qin Chang waited anxiously outside the operating room, they were overjoyed to learn that the surgery had been successful.

Half an hour later, as the anesthesia wore off, Song Mingmei woke up and the first thing she said to Qin Chang was that she had fallen for him all over again. Seeing her like this, Ding Zhitong couldn’t hold back her tears. Lying in her hospital bed, Song Mingmei called Ding Zhitong and asked her to log back into Moqi and help review it and provide some suggestions.

When Ding Zhitong logged in, she found countless messages from Gan Yang. No matter what he was going through—his illnesses, his progress—he had sent her videos every time. As she watched them, tears streamed down her face. Ding Zhitong remembered what Song Mingmei had said—life only happens once. She didn’t want Ding Zhitong to live with regrets. Ding Zhitong realized it was time to run for Gan Yang once more.
