Eat Run Love Episode 5 Recap
> Eat Run Love Recap
Ding Zhitong sat on the bus ride back, looking at the court summons in her hand and thinking about what her teacher had said. Her uncle had deliberately sent the summons to the school, clearly with an ulterior motive. But if she didn’t handle it properly, it could affect her graduation. Years ago, when her father was ill, her uncle had lent them money for treatment.
But her father eventually passed away, and her uncle resorted to all sorts of methods to aggressively demand repayment. Ding Zhitong had even considered quitting school, but her mother insisted she continue studying. She was determined to repay the debt no matter what—it couldn’t be allowed to affect Ding Zhitong’s future. Gan Yang had been constantly worried about Ding Zhitong, afraid something might have happened to her. She didn’t answer his calls.
Though she saw his name on the screen, Ding Zhitong was sure she wasn’t ready for a relationship. What she needed to do was to focus on earning money with everything she had. She called every relative and finally borrowed money from her cousin-aunt, promising to pay monthly interest. Her cousin-aunt was pleased but warned her not to let her son He Jin know—otherwise, he’d be tempted to gamble it away again.
Ding Zhitong called her mother and claimed she had made over 3,000 this time and performed well. She also said she would repay part of the money to her uncle and told her mother not to worry about money. When she overheard someone buying food in the background, she realized her mother had gone out to set up a street stall behind her back. She sternly warned her mother to go home immediately. Her mother hurriedly agreed.
Feng Sheng noticed that Ding Zhitong’s computer had all new components and realized it was Gan Yang who had helped her fix it. He sought out Gan Yang and repaid 2,000 yuan on Ding Zhitong’s behalf. Gan Yang misunderstood this as Ding Zhitong trying to draw a line between them. Ding Zhitong also learned from Wang Yi that Gan Yang had replaced the computer parts for her.
She ran to find Gan Yang to repay the money, only to learn that Feng Sheng had already paid on her behalf. Ding Zhitong made it clear that she didn’t like owing anyone money. Gan Yang asked her whether he counted as "anyone. " Ding Zhitong said nothing and walked away. She later found Feng Sheng to return the money and even contacted her cousin-aunt in advance to postpone her repayment.
Her cousin-aunt, annoyed, warned her that there would be no next time. At the cafeteria, while getting food, Song Mingmei complained to Ding Zhitong that she hated Qin Chang the most and didn’t want to attend his class. She had no idea Qin Chang was standing right behind them and heard everything. Song Mingmei tried to act natural and even offered to treat Qin Chang to a meal, but he left in silence.
When Ding Zhitong was alone, she couldn’t help but reflect on everything that had happened between her and Gan Yang. She worried that her words might have been too harsh and might have hurt him. Both Gan Yang and Ding Zhitong received notifications from their interview units to arrive in an hour. As Gan Yang drove with Wang Yi, he saw Ding Zhitong waiting by the roadside for a ride. Without saying anything, he drove off. Mr.
Zhan was clearly persuaded by Gan Yang but didn’t show it at the time. This made Wang Yi quite excited, just waiting for the final result. Feng Sheng accompanied Ding Zhitong to her interview company. As the two of them left, Ma Wende, standing on the upper floor, saw them and called his assistant Xiao Chen to ask for Ding Zhitong’s resume.
While Ding Zhitong was working at a convenience store, Gan Yang stood outside under an umbrella, smiling as he watched her. Perhaps this was the only way to ease the pain of missing her. In his mind, the image of Ding Zhitong celebrating his birthday played over and over. When Ding Zhitong got off work, she was worried about how to get home, until she saw an umbrella placed outside. Delighted, she took it and left.
At the same time, Qin Chang received a call from a friend, praising the intern Song Mingmei from Sunshine Ranch. She had exposed all the fake data and didn’t mind getting dirty during the fieldwork—she even cleaned horse manure herself. But since it was raining, the friend worried she wouldn’t be able to get back.
Although Qin Chang scoffed at the concern, he still drove out and pretended to run into Song Mingmei at the intersection, offering her a ride home. When Ding Zhitong hiked to the designated mountain location for her second interview, she happened to run into Ma Wende. He invited her to ride with him, then stopped the car midway, saying he wanted to promote her, but he started making inappropriate physical advances.
He hinted that it was hard to go far fighting alone. But Ding Zhitong firmly stated that she could walk her own path up the mountain. The interviewer on the mountain turned out to be Ma Wende himself, and the interview was actually a writing test. He even deliberately damaged Ding Zhitong’s tent. She protested it was unfair, but Ma Wende said this was part of the assessment. If she wasn’t happy, she could quit the interview.
Ding Zhitong used a vine to tie and secure the broken tent. When Ma Wende saw Lin Xiao setting up her tent, he went over to “help” and deliberately touched her body, which Ding Zhitong witnessed. She immediately accused him of workplace sexual harassment. This only angered Ma Wende further. He demanded Lin Xiao confirm whether she had been harassed. Lin Xiao denied it, and Ma Wende accused Ding Zhitong of having bad intentions and expelled her on the spot.
Ding Zhitong walked down the mountain alone in the pitch-dark night. There wasn’t a soul in sight. Just as she was gripped by fear, Gan Yang arrived in his car. He had heard from Song Mingmei earlier that the interview location was here and, knowing Ma Wende’s bad reputation, had come out of concern. To Ding Zhitong, he looked like her savior, and her heart was filled with warmth.
She told Gan Yang everything that had happened today and expressed her understanding of Lin Xiao’s reaction. Gan Yang praised her for doing the right thing. When her stomach growled, he immediately offered to treat her to a meal. At dinner, Gan Yang folded a paper crane from a napkin—something Ding Zhitong had once taught him. He praised her bravery and said this paper crane was her reward.
Though Gan Yang couldn’t handle spicy food, he insisted on ordering the same “insanely spicy” dish as Ding Zhitong. He ended up unable to eat it at all, causing Ding Zhitong to burst out laughing and order him a new dish.
