Gan Yang told Ding Zhitong that she was his first love, the first girl who ever made his heart race. Ding Zhitong responded that she felt the same about Gan Yang, filling both of them with joy. But Gan Yang quickly noticed that Ding Zhitong wasn’t truly happy and guessed she might be worried because of Ai Yunting’s long-distance relationship. He promised he would frequently visit her in the future.

Still, Ding Zhitong remained uneasy—she recalled how happy Ai Yunting had been every time she saw her boyfriend, but due to being busy and frequent arguments, even their love felt exhausting to her. Gan Yang continued to comfort Ding Zhitong, convinced that their situation was different from Ai Yunting’s. Even if they were both busy and he couldn’t always meet her when he came, he could at least cook a meal and leave quietly.

When she returned home and saw the food, she’d know he had been there. That thought finally brought a smile to Ding Zhitong’s face. As they returned from dinner and a walk, they saw Feng Sheng anxiously waiting outside her dormitory. Gan Yang noticed Feng Sheng and felt a twinge of jealousy, but reminded himself that Ding Zhitong was now his girlfriend. He reassured her once again, cupping her cheeks and telling her not to overthink.

Feng Sheng witnessed this scene and felt even more unsettled. After Gan Yang left, Feng Sheng privately advised Ding Zhitong to stay away from Gan Yang, saying their family backgrounds were too different and expressing his own biased view of Gan Yang’s character. Ding Zhitong wasn’t swayed. She understood Feng Sheng’s feelings and sincerely wished he would find happiness of his own. That night, Song Mingmei returned to the dorm, excitedly showing Ding Zhitong her WeChat.

It turned out Gan Yang had made their relationship public online, instantly boosting his popularity. He even helped Ding Zhitong prepare for her move to Shanghai in advance by finding a place for her. Xu Chenxi, wanting to see Gan Yang, drove them around to look at apartments. But with limited finances, Ding Zhitong found the locations too far or the prices too high.

Xu Chenxi grew frustrated, complaining aloud that Ding Zhitong and Feng Sheng had very different views on money and weren’t suited for each other. With the help of a staff member, they eventually saw a spacious room that Ding Zhitong immediately liked. She joyfully imagined how she would decorate it. But the rent was too expensive, so they ended up choosing a rural house with a shared lease. Though small, it had great natural light and a peaceful environment.

Gan Yang was a bit uneasy—the place was remote and they knew nothing about their roommate. But Ding Zhitong felt it was conveniently close to the subway and made commuting easier, so Gan Yang relented. To celebrate the move, Ding Zhitong offered to cook, but her clumsy attempts prompted Gan Yang to take over and showcase his cooking skills. During dinner, their housemate Xiaoli returned and quietly greeted them before heading to her room.

To avoid any awkwardness, Ding Zhitong urged Gan Yang to finish up and head back to his hotel. But Gan Yang jokingly suggested she not go back at all, which made Ding Zhitong blush and daydream. Seeing her reaction, Gan Yang quickly clarified—he just wanted to take her somewhere. Meanwhile, Song Mingmei was at a social event, dancing with various elites to network. In the process, she accidentally twisted her ankle.

Qin Chang specially instructed staff to bring her an ice pack, stirring something in her heart and changing her opinion of him. Out in the countryside, Gan Yang had carefully set up a tent and played a tune for Ding Zhitong. They talked about their parents, and Gan Yang said he was sure his mom would love Ding Zhitong—because both she and his mom were the most important people in his life.

He fibbed that he chose the camping spot to catch a meteor shower, but when Ding Zhitong looked up, not even stars were visible. Then Gan Yang led her to the riverside, where fireflies danced through the air like a dream. In the magical atmosphere, Gan Yang couldn’t help but kiss Ding Zhitong. The next day, Gan Yang had to leave, and Ding Zhitong came to see him off.

They were reluctant to part, but the taxi driver grew impatient and kept honking. Partings are part of life—Ding Zhitong watched as Gan Yang drove away, feeling a wave of loneliness. Back at her rental house, she found a meal and a cute stuffed toy that Gan Yang had left for her, warming her heart. The following day was Ding Zhitong’s first day at work. As a newcomer, she stepped into the meeting room and saw all the department heads.

Among them, Deborah from the investment banking division immediately caught her eye. Sharp, capable, and stunning, Dai Bola was Ding Zhitong’s image of a true career woman.
