Gu Yanzhi and Lao Sui spent the night in the car, freezing without being able to turn on the air conditioning. They finally endured until dawn. Song Ranran, feeling disappointed for not spending the night with Gu Yanzhi, went for a walk early in the morning and unexpectedly found Lu Feiyan outside the vacation village. Thinking that Lu Feiyan came to the resort because of her, Song Ranran directly told him that she likes Gu Yanzhi and asked him not to misunderstand. Lu Feiyan said he came to help Song Ranran find a partner, but when he heard Gu Yanzhi and Yan Mo were together, he angrily went to confront Gu Yanzhi. Lu Feiyan hit Gu Yanzhi, but since Yan Mo protected him, Lu Feiyan had to leave angrily. Song Ranran, unaware of the situation, thought Lu Feiyan fought with Gu Yanzhi because of her, feeling pleased with her charm. She didn't realize she misunderstood and went back with Lu Feiyan.
Yan Mo wanted to explain for Lu Feiyan, but Gu Yanzhi wasn't interested. He only wanted to know the relationship between Lu Feiyan and Yan Mo. After Lu Feiyan and Song Ranran left, Zhou Hanzhang insisted on leaving with Gu Siyu. Gu Yanzhi lied about his car being broken and insisted on going back with Lao Sui and Yan Mo. Refusing to sit in the passenger seat, Gu Yanzhi and Yan Mo squeezed together with Lao Sui to return to the company.
Zhao Zong manipulated the data of the second-phase experiment and pushed for the third-phase experiment to pressure Lao Sui and Gu Yanzhi. Gu Yanzhi remained firm, refusing to proceed with the third-phase experiment, and Lao Sui stated that decisions would not be made without clear information. When the board members suggested withdrawing funding, they didn't express their stance. Gu Yanzhi reviewed data in a fried chicken shop, while Xiao Zibai and others discussed the board's situation, fearing it would impact the company's operation. Xiao Zibai felt guilty and kept silent when colleagues discussed it.
Yan Mo, concerned about Gu Yanzhi, continued the experiment in violation of rules. Worried about Gu Yanzhi, she had to find a way to stop it and tell him that Xiao Zibai was the mole. Zhao Zong pressured Lao Sui again, claiming that over half of the board agreed to replace him. If he couldn't resolve Gu Yanzhi's issue, he would be dismissed. Just as Yan Mo was about to tell Gu Yanzhi about Xiao Zibai, Lao Sui came to find him, making Yan Mo uneasy.
Gu Yanzhi, with the other company's data, talked to Xiao Zibai. He sensed trouble but didn't suspect her. Yan Mo was worried because Gu Yanzhi didn't believe her. Before Yan Mo could figure out a solution, Lao Sui, with Wei Wei, pressured Gu Yanzhi to proceed with the third-phase experiment or be dismissed. Gu Yanzhi refused, and Lao Sui had to present a dismissal notice. Within the institute, it was announced that a new senior researcher would replace Gu Yanzhi. Lao Sui compromised with Zhao Zong, who ensured their person would take over Gu Yanzhi's position.
Gao Meng and Xiao Zibai competed for the new position. Xiao Zibai included stolen data in her report for the competition but didn't realize it was a trap. She continued cooperating with Wei Wei to seize control of the institute. Yan Mo wanted Gu Yanzhi to believe her, so she tracked Xiao Zibai. After witnessing a meeting between Xiao Zibai and Wei Wei, Yan Mo tried to deceive Xiao Zibai, but it failed. She then went to Gu Yanzhi to convince him to believe her.
Lao Sui and Gu Yanzhi had planned to expose the data leaker by pressuring them. Xiao Zibai, unaware of the trap, revealed herself. Lao Sui, holding evidence, was explaining the situation to Gu Yanzhi when Yan Mo arrived, asking him to believe her. Despite Yan Mo's reminders to Lao Sui not to alienate Gu Yanzhi, they said the institute's problem was solved.
