Gu Yanzhi, understanding what Yan Mo had done, personally went to find Xiao Zibai and paid for the surgery for Xiao Zibai's daughter. Thanks to Gu Yanzhi's help, Xiao Zibai revealed Lao Sui's involvement in Zhao Zong and Wei Wei's unauthorized experiment, allowing Gu Yanzhi to prepare. While busy with company matters, Gu Yanzhi continued to take care of Yan Mo and sought ways to expedite the experiment. Zhou Hanzhang, carrying freshly made fried chicken, went to see Lao Sui, thinking that Lao Sui was unhappy because he learned about Yan Mo and Gu Yanzhi being together. Inadvertently, he mentioned Yan Mo's transfer to the research institute.
Upon learning that Yan Mo had gone to the research institute, Lao Sui felt betrayed by Gu Yanzhi. He believed Gu Yanzhi had betrayed their agreement of fair competition and their friendship by being with Yan Mo behind his back. Gu Yanzhi explained the situation to Lao Sui, who, for the sake of Yan Mo, decided to temporarily suspend the unauthorized experiment. Lao Sui and Gu Yanzhi argued, but regarding the unauthorized experiment, Lao Sui ultimately decided to give it up. Therefore, he informed Wei Wei and Zhao Zong that he wanted to withdraw. Zhao Zong, worried that Lao Sui's withdrawal would jeopardize him, wanted to send someone to warn Lao Sui. Lao Sui, under pressure due to Gu Yanzhi and Yan Mo being together, suffered an asthma attack. Coincidentally, Wei Wei witnessed this and pretended to be very concerned, helping Lao Sui and giving him the needed medication.
