Jun Qiluo accidentally discovered that someone had tampered with the crossbow that Xuan Lie was going to use in the competition, so she specifically retrieved it from He Jiyao to have it repaired. Dong Yin was relieved when she saw that Jun Qiluo had returned unharmed. However, she felt a bit sad for Jun Qiluo. If Xuan Lie became the Wolf Leader, he would have to choose a wife from the five noble women of the tribes.

Xuan Lie and Luo Qi encountered an ambush during the competition. The arrows were real, and someone was trying to kill Xuan Lie. However, they failed, and instead, Xuan Lie’s deputy, Luo Qi, was injured.

Xuan Lie and Luo Zhizhou managed to eliminate Xi Zhangkun from the competition. To save Luo Qi, Xuan Lie temporarily abandoned this round of the competition. There would be another chance to overtake, but life was at stake, and he couldn’t ignore Luo Qi’s wellbeing for the sake of winning. In the end, Luo Zhizhou took first place in the competition. The king understood why Xuan Lie hadn’t won the first place after seeing that Luo Qi had been injured.

Jun Laoye (Jun Qiluo's father) received a letter regarding a hostage exchange at a designated location. He led people there, but they were ambushed. In the chaos, he managed to escape. Luo Qi’s injury was not fatal; the arrow had been tipped with a tranquilizer powder, which caused him to fall unconscious. Jun Qiluo was very worried, so she stayed outside the tent waiting for news.

Luo Zhizhou informed Xuan Lie that Xi Zhangkun had said that his son, Xi Mo, had met with Jun Qiluo. This made Xuan Lie suspect that the tampering with his crossbow might not have been accidental. Xuan Lie didn’t want to suspect Jun Qiluo, thinking that Luo Zhizhou was overreacting. However, the more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He went outside the tent and pulled Jun Qiluo aside to confront her, asking why she didn’t trust him.

Jun Qiluo had her own plans. She couldn’t allow Xuan Lie to ruin the Jun family, as the Xi tribe was about to sign a crystal contract with other parties. She couldn’t wait any longer and had no choice but to seek out Xi Mo on her own. However, Jun Qiluo had not tampered with the crossbow; Xuan Lie had misunderstood her. Feeling enraged, Xuan Lie decided to part ways with Jun Qiluo.

Xi Mo believed that Luo Qi’s injury had been orchestrated by Jun Qiluo. He thought that Jun Qiluo was someone not to be underestimated, but Xi Zhangkun advised his son to be cautious so that Jun Qiluo wouldn’t turn on him. The Empress Dowager had already arranged for people to investigate Shao Qimin, but Xuan Qingkou did not allow anyone to approach her camp, so the servants could only gather limited information.

The Empress Dowager now knew that Shao Qimin and Jun Qiluo were acquainted and that he was currently by Xuan Qingkou’s side, mainly to protect Jun Qiluo and prevent Xuan Qingkou from turning her anger towards her.
