An arrow appeared near Xuan Lie, catching Jun Qiluo's attention. A sense of doubt arose in her heart, but when Xuan Lie asked her about it, Jun Qiluo shook her head and claimed she hadn’t seen it before. She recalled that many years ago, her father had revealed that in order to revive the Jun family, he had sold the weapon blueprints designed by Jun Qiluo.

However, Jun Qiluo had insisted that her talents were meant to contribute to the Jun family’s revival. Luo Zhizhou carefully placed a kite in front of Consort Li’s residence, which delighted her. Yet, hidden within her smile was a hint of past bitterness—Luo Zhizhou had promised to return in the spring, but it was only in autumn that he appeared, which had previously upset Consort Li.

However, Luo Zhizhou’s sincere apology and the specially brought kite helped to soothe her lingering resentment. Soon after, Luo Zhizhou summoned Dong Yin and sternly questioned her about the trap. Dong Yin confessed that she had altered the trap setup on her own. Luo Zhizhou understood that if it weren’t for Lord Sun shielding Xuan Lie, Xuan Lie might have already perished.

Dong Yin further analyzed the situation, suggesting that if Xuan Lie were to die, the position of the wolf leader would pass on, giving them a chance to replace him. Luo Zhizhou, however, did not openly respond to this suggestion. Meanwhile, Xuan Lie accidentally came across Jun Qiluo’s merchant order and was shocked to discover that she was the heir of the Baigong family. This revelation stunned him.

Luo Qi attempted to comfort Xuan Lie, suggesting that Jun Qiluo was still young and that even if she were connected to the Baigong family, it likely had no direct involvement. However, He Jiyao disagreed, arguing that although Jun Qiluo was young, her abilities should not be underestimated. At this time, a secret emissary of the marquis quietly approached Xi Zhangkun, intending to team up and eliminate Jun Qiluo. Xi Zhangkun, however, came up with a plan.

He suggested that he personally find an opportunity to act, and once done, he could distance himself from the matter to avoid being implicated. The marquis’s emissary found this idea brilliant, and the two quickly came to an agreement. Jun Qiluo fell into deep thought, recalling the mysterious crossbow arrow from twelve years ago, filled with doubts.

Just then, Xuan Lie came to find her and spoke about his father’s situation, asking what Jun Qiluo would think if she were in his position. Jun Qiluo responded gently, expressing her belief that the person who designed the weapon could never have foreseen that it would harm Xuan Lie’s father. Xuan Lie, eager to uncover the truth, immediately went to the king and requested that an investigation begin without delay.

The king, with a hint of teasing, remarked that he had planned to issue the order the next day but was surprised by how impatient Xuan Lie was. However, since he had promised him, the king allowed the investigation to proceed. Xuan Lie urgently summoned the five tribal leaders and informed them that Yan Nan spies had infiltrated, requiring immediate pursuit. The leader of the Su tribe, however, suspiciously accused Jun Qiluo of being a Yan Nan spy.

Sun Zhaomin stood up to defend Jun Qiluo, emphasizing that she had been in the area for a long time and posed no threat. Xuan Lie calmly analyzed the situation and pointed out that the real spies were someone else, urging immediate capture. The king attached great importance to this matter and ordered them to act swiftly.

Meanwhile, Sun Zhaomin was preparing to return home with her father, and Xuan Lie assured them that they could always seek their assistance if needed. Xuan Lie sent Luo Qi to investigate Xilin, and they successfully captured him. Xuan Lie promised Xilin that as long as he revealed the truth, he would ensure his mother’s safety. Xilin weighed the pros and cons and chose to cooperate.

When revealing everything to the king, Xi Zhangkun hurriedly distanced himself, accusing Xuan Lie of framing him. Xuan Lie then proposed that Xilin could help find the crucial weapon as physical evidence. The king accepted Xuan Lie’s suggestion. Afterward, the king privately kept Xuan Lie behind and suggested that he form a marriage alliance with Sun Zhaomin and also consider making Jun Qiluo one of Xuan Lie’s concubines.
