Xuan Lie took the initiative to meet with Master Jun. He expressed his sincere love for Jun Qiluo and knelt before Master Jun with a whip in hand, offering himself for punishment to vent Master Jun’s anger. However, Master Jun did not take action. He had observed the changes in Jun Qiluo since being with Xuan Lie and had also witnessed all that Xuan Lie had done to protect her.

As for Shao Qimin, she could bring him along if she wished.

Master Jun, facing pressure from the elders of the family, abolished the ancestral rule that forbade women from managing the family affairs. He declared that if a woman was capable, she could take charge. After all, during the Jun family’s decline, it was the three Jun sisters who worked together to help the family overcome its hardships. The elders had no argument against this and could only agree.

The authorities examined the scene and ruled it as a suicide, but Jun Qiluo found the situation suspicious. Shao Qimin recognized Zheng Yuan—he was the Yannan spy who had appeared in Beixuan back then. At that moment, Xuan Lie arrived and overheard Shao Qimin’s words. With this, they could confirm that their investigation was heading in the right direction.
