Recap

As soon as Jin Baiwan stepped out the door, she was surrounded by people. It turned out they were all there to urge her for updates and mentioned that only Jin Baiwan could motivate Jin Muqiu, the eldest daughter of the Jin Escort Agency. Baiwan felt troubled and tried to brush them off quickly before hurrying away. At that moment, Baiwan noticed that it seemed like it was about to rain!

When she returned home, the eldest daughter was throwing a tantrum, crying, making a scene, and even threatening to hang herself. It turned out that Jin Muqiu didn't want to marry into Taoyuan Valley, especially since she was enjoying her days writing stories. Besides, she had never even met the young valley master! As Baiwan comforted the young lady, she assured her that she had already come up with a plan!

Yu Linfeng, the young valley master of Taoyuan Valley, had already arrived at the Jin Escort Agency, but the eldest daughter had yet to come out to meet him. He couldn't help but wonder if she was unwilling to proceed with the marriage. Just then, Baiwan arrived with the young lady, but the young lady kept her face covered with a fan. When she finally lowered the fan, her face was full of freckles.

Linfeng, however, remarked that this clearly showed her sincerity. He earnestly asked if she was willing to marry into Taoyuan Valley, and the eldest daughter immediately said yes! It turned out that she found Linfeng incredibly handsome and had abandoned all her previous concerns. Now, Baiwan was genuinely panicking. After all, five years ago, the young lady had rescued Baiwan, who had lost her memory, and had been caring for her ever since.

Now, Baiwan couldn’t even present a decent dowry. While Baiwan was fretting, she overheard that the head of the escort agency had refused to escort a Buddhist scripture due to a lack of manpower. Baiwan immediately stepped up and volunteered to take on the task! And so, for the sake of the young lady’s dowry, Baiwan ventured out alone for the first time in five years to brave the martial world!

Baiwan successfully arrived in Furong Town and overheard people discussing a person playing the guqin. At first, Baiwan didn't pay much attention, but when she saw Qu Zheng in person, she was stunned by his good looks and sat down to enjoy his music. However, a few people in the distance had their eyes on the escort Baiwan was carrying. It turned out they had heard rumors that Baiwan was escorting the long-lost "Puyuan True Scripture"!

Qu Zheng noticed this and, while playing the guqin, dealt with the troublemakers. The opponents were furious, but Baiwan stood up, and Qu Zheng immediately complimented her for saving him! Afterward, the two parted ways, but while Baiwan was having noodles, someone tried to poison her. Qu Zheng cleverly saved her, creating the illusion that she had saved him again, though Baiwan was beginning to suspect that all the trouble was caused by Qu Zheng’s presence.

At this moment, Yu Chen, in collaboration with the Digging Rat Gang, captured both of them. While the gang was operating openly, Yu Chen was pulling the strings from behind! Meanwhile, back at the Jin Escort Agency, word got out that someone had intentionally spread rumors to the major sects that Baiwan was escorting the "Puyuan True Scripture. " Everyone was worried about Baiwan, and Linfeng remarked that such an incident happening at this critical moment must have been deliberate.

He stated that the most important thing right now was to return to Taoyuan Valley with Jin Muqiu, while he would keep Baiwan’s situation in mind. Baiwan and Qu Zheng figured out a way to escape. At the same time, the Buddhist scripture, sealed inside a special box crafted by the Jin Escort Agency, was impossible for Yu Chen’s group to open. Qu Zheng came up with a plan, but it required Baiwan to make a small sacrifice.

Baiwan agreed, and the two staged a dramatic scene of a sorrowful couple performing a wedding ceremony, even hinting that forcibly opening the wooden box would cause an explosion. In the end, they successfully earned their chance to escape. However, Yu Chen showed up in time, pretending to be at odds with the Digging Rat Gang, and in the end, took both of them back to the Yu residence. Baiwan even felt grateful to Yu Chen!

Jin Baiwan secretly looked forward to the possibility of marrying someone as elegant as Qu Zheng in the future. However, what she didn’t know was that, during their fake wedding ceremony, Qu Zheng actually envisioned a real one. Baiwan was fully aware that her relationship with Qu Zheng would only ever be a friendship. At that moment, Yu Chen's people came to invite them over.

Both Baiwan and Qu Zheng had already sensed something was off about Yu Chen, especially since they had never revealed their true identities to him, yet he seemed to know everything! Qu Zheng bluntly said that it was not safe to stay here any longer, and Baiwan agreed. When they met with Yu Chen, Qu Zheng immediately expressed his intent to leave.

However, Yu Chen replied that while Qu Zheng could go, Miss Jin had to stay a few more days. Naturally, Baiwan refused, but to her surprise, Qu Zheng agreed without hesitation, explaining that their mountain wedding was just a sham. Yu Chen found this a bit strange but didn’t think much of it, only saying that Qu Zheng could leave another day.

Baiwan was upset, calling Qu Zheng disloyal, but Qu Zheng didn’t explain and simply told her to trust that everything had its proper course. Meanwhile, outside, Zi Jing from the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Valley was secretly watching, trying to investigate the matter of the scriptures. However, this was being done quietly, without anyone else knowing! On the other side, Jin Muqiu and Yu Linfeng had set off.

Along the way, Linfeng showed concern about what Jin Muqiu was doing. When Jin Muqiu refused to show him her writings, a playful shove caused her papers to fall. In her panic, Jin Muqiu accidentally pushed Linfeng to the ground, scraping his hand. Jin Muqiu hurried to get medicine for him, but another accident occurred, and she spilled the medicine on him. While she was getting more, Linfeng chatted with his subordinates about the marriage.

Linfeng’s words clearly revealed that this marriage was for the benefit of both families, and he believed that the two of them would respect each other. Jin Muqiu overheard everything and felt a bit heartbroken, realizing that Linfeng had no romantic feelings for her. Back with Baiwan, Yu Chen arranged for her to bathe and change clothes.

While initially frustrated with Qu Zheng for his lack of loyalty, Baiwan recalled his words about everything having its course and began to wonder if Qu Zheng had another plan. Sure enough, Yu Chen was eavesdropping outside, and Qu Zheng suddenly rushed over, claiming that he had thrown the scriptures over the wall of Yu's residence. Baiwan immediately played along, and Yu Chen fell for the ruse.

The two took the opportunity to escape and ended up at a lantern festival. There, a masked figure was watching them closely. Qu Zheng noticed but didn’t hide; instead, he pulled Baiwan along and even bought her a mask. At that moment, Baiwan felt a sense of familiarity, as though she had seen Qu Zheng somewhere before. Qu Zheng thought she had remembered something, but she hadn’t! Yu Chen’s men quickly caught up, and Baiwan immediately ran for her life.

During this, she discovered that the Digging Rat Gang was in league with Yu Chen. Fortunately, Qu Zheng provided cover, and the two managed to escape. Baiwan accidentally noticed Qu Zheng’s impressive martial arts skills, leading her to suspect that he had been trained in martial arts. Qu Zheng took Baiwan with him, and Su Zhuozhuo arrived just in time to assist. The three of them left openly.

Baiwan then realized that they were headed in the same direction, so Qu Zheng suggested they travel together, and Baiwan agreed. While the three of them were eating, Qu Zheng noticed that Baiwan liked spicy food. Baiwan explained that she had eaten spicy food since childhood and mentioned that she had never left the Jin Escort Agency. Qu Zheng seemed a bit disappointed. While Baiwan was sleeping, Qu Zheng discussed matters with his subordinates.

It turned out that the person he was looking for didn’t eat spicy food, and now he wasn’t sure if Baiwan was that person. Meanwhile, Zi Jing hadn’t given up on searching for Baiwan’s whereabouts, but she couldn’t find any trace of her! On the other side, Jin Muqiu was feeling sad by herself.

Yu Linfeng brought her some fruit, and just as Jin Muqiu was about to convince herself that he did care for her, she noticed that many of the maids had also received fruit! As for Baiwan and Qu Zheng, they continued their journey together. Qu Zheng showed great concern for Baiwan and was accidentally bitten by a snake. Baiwan, knowing that he was a good person, felt guilty and confessed that she had been hiding something.

She revealed that she had been rescued by the young lady five years ago and had been instructed not to speak about her past, which was why she had kept it a secret. Baiwan then took out the pendant she always wore, and Qu Zheng was completely stunned!

Jin Baiwan took out the pendant she had been wearing and handed it to Qu Zheng. Qu Zheng was stunned—it turned out that this pendant was the very one he had given her. He asked Baiwan if she wasn’t worried that this pendant might be related to her past. Baiwan, however, said that only by giving it to him could she express her sincerity.

Qu Zheng frankly told her that this item might have been given to her by someone important, and if that person were him, he wouldn’t want to see her giving it away. Reluctantly, Baiwan took it back, feeling a warmth in her heart. When Baiwan returned to the carriage, she unexpectedly found a token from Yanmen, an organization known for practicing medicine for generations. It suddenly made sense why Su Zhuozhuo had such excellent medical skills.

However, Baiwan couldn't understand why Su Zhuozhuo had kept this from her. As she turned to leave, she overheard a conversation between Su Zhuozhuo and Qu Zheng. Su Zhuozhuo was addressing Qu Zheng as "young master," which seemed inappropriate for cousins. Baiwan also heard Su Zhuozhuo say they were here for the scripture! Realizing something, Baiwan pretended not to have heard anything when the two turned toward her, but she was already planning to sneak away that night.

Later that night, Baiwan quietly fled. Despite searching for a long time, Su Zhuozhuo and Qu Zheng couldn’t find any trace of her. Baiwan had discreetly arrived at an inn, but as soon as she stepped inside, she heard a commotion at the door. Turning around, she saw Yu Chen and the Digging Rat Gang. Baiwan quickly turned away, trying to pretend she hadn’t seen them, but she was soon discovered and captured.

The group, satisfied with the scripture, began drinking. Baiwan patiently waited until they were all drunk before she managed to free herself from the ropes. Just as she was about to escape with the scripture, Yu Chen woke up. At the crucial moment, Qu Zheng appeared and helped Baiwan. However, when Qu Zheng was about to be attacked from behind, Baiwan instinctively took a knife for him, surprising even herself—why would she help someone as cunning as a fox?

Baiwan was also shocked to realize that Qu Zheng truly knew martial arts. She couldn’t hold on for long, though, and passed out from her injury. Meanwhile, in the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Palace, the major sects were discussing the rumors about the lost *Puyuan True Scripture* circulating in the martial world. The massacre of the Xu family five years ago was still fresh in everyone's minds. Who was behind all this chaos?

The major sects agreed to let the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Palace investigate. However, the young palace master and Xue Yue Envoy didn’t get along. Back with Baiwan, she finally regained consciousness, and Qu Zheng revealed his true identity. Baiwan understood everything now, realizing that throughout their journey, it was Qu Zheng who had been protecting her, not the other way around as it had seemed.

Injured and anxious about her surroundings, Baiwan became even more uneasy when a mouse scurried into the room. Seeing her concern, Qu Zheng tied their hands together with a long red string that had bells attached to it to help ease her worries. Qu Zheng played the qin outside to help her sleep. Baiwan was touched and delighted, and the atmosphere between the two became very warm.

At this moment, Qu Zheng also confirmed that Baiwan was indeed the person he had been searching for, and he thoroughly enjoyed their time together. Back at the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Palace, the young palace master sought out the palace lord after the responsibility of investigating the *Puyuan True Scripture* had been given to the Xue Yue Envoy. However, the palace lord simply said that strength would determine everything in the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Valley.

Qu Zheng, meanwhile, said he would find a divine doctor for Baiwan. Baiwan was looking forward to it, and to her surprise, Su Zhuozhuo appeared. The two clearly didn’t get along, but Qu Zheng acted as a mediator, and Baiwan cooperated without any issues. Qu Zheng even thoughtfully prepared preserved fruit for her. Secretly holding a grudge, Su Zhuozhuo put medicine in Baiwan’s treatment, causing a rash to break out on her face. Qu Zheng, however, apologized on Su Zhuozhuo’s behalf!

Along the way, the head of the Jin Escort Agency kept telling his daughter that he thought Yu Linfeng was a good match. However, Jin Muqiu responded that Linfeng didn’t like her at all. Hearing this, the head of the agency got angry and said he would go confront Linfeng. Jin Muqiu quickly stopped her father, revealing that, deep down, she still had feelings for Linfeng.

Her plan was to make everything unfold just like the storylines in her novels, believing that if things went according to her stories, Linfeng would definitely fall for her. With this in mind, Jin Muqiu started to blush, feeling quite satisfied. However, reality is often cruel, and due to various unforeseen circumstances, nothing went according to her plan!

Even Linfeng’s subordinates noticed that Jin Muqiu was trying to create opportunities for her and Linfeng to be alone, but Linfeng himself remained oblivious. Meanwhile, Jin Baiwan was guarding the scripture even in her sleep, while Su Zhuozhuo kept trying to get her hands on it. However, Baiwan caught her in the act.

Knowing she was in the wrong, Su Zhuozhuo tried to leave, but Baiwan blocked her way, saying that unless she apologized, she would spread the news of this incident to the martial world. Feeling wronged, Su Zhuozhuo had no choice but to apologize, and even Qu Zheng agreed that Baiwan had the upper hand. Baiwan went further, demanding that from now on, Qu Zheng would have to stay in her room while she slept to protect the scripture.

Su Zhuozhuo was furious, but to her surprise, Qu Zheng agreed. Qu Zheng and Baiwan began playing a gambling game, where Qu Zheng lost several rounds in a row but stubbornly refused to stop, continuing to lose. Baiwan was thrilled, and surprisingly, Qu Zheng seemed happy as well, even joking that his "wife’s money" should be spent on his wife.

Baiwan started to sense something was off about Qu Zheng, but what he did next shocked her even more—he suddenly pinned her down! Frightened, Baiwan quickly pushed him out of the room. Afterward, Qu Zheng returned to serious matters. The situation with the *Puyuan True Scripture* had escalated far too much. Qu Zheng declared it was time to leave, but he couldn't take Jin Baiwan with him, as it was too dangerous, and he wanted her to be safe.

The next day, Qu Zheng drugged Baiwan and left. When she woke up, all that was left was a letter from Qu Zheng, stating that he had already taken the scripture with him. This only reinforced Baiwan’s belief that he was a sneaky fox of a thief. Jin Muqiu, on the other hand, was still upset that her methods weren’t working. Unexpectedly, her father was thinking about the situation too and had even gathered information on Yu Linfeng’s preferences!

Overjoyed, Jin Muqiu was eager to try again. Baiwan, with little difficulty, managed to track down the path that Qu Zheng and Su Zhuozhuo had taken. However, Qu Zheng ended up throwing her into a tree. After much effort, Baiwan finally climbed down, only to find that they had already gone far ahead. In the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Palace, Jing Yuan secretly captured someone, while the Xue Yue Envoy confirmed that the scripture was indeed the genuine article.

The envoy intended to deliver it to Qing Songke, who turned out to be a descendant of the Xu family’s branch! Baiwan continued to cling to Qu Zheng, while he tried to avoid her. In retaliation, Baiwan started posting notices everywhere, tarnishing Qu Zheng’s reputation, which caused both him and Su Zhuozhuo to be unable to buy food. Frustrated, Qu Zheng told Baiwan that she had to choose between the scripture and her life.

But Baiwan, full of confidence, replied that the Jin Escort Agency had never failed to deliver an item. Left with no other choice, Qu Zheng took her along on the journey. When they arrived at Yin Xue Village, Baiwan was surprised to find the village empty. He loudly called out for Qing Songke, but there was no answer—instead, a large group of mysterious figures emerged!

The group surrounded the three of them, accusing Jin Baiwan of stealing the *Puyuan True Scripture* for personal gain and killing Qing Songke in the process. Su Zhuozhuo bluntly stated that Qing Songke had died long ago. The other side refused to relent, and Baiwan wanted to defend herself, but Su Zhuozhuo interrupted, saying they were clearly only after the scripture. As tensions rose, a fight broke out, and the scripture was damaged.

Surprisingly, only two pages fell out of the book, the rest were blank sheets. The opposing side immediately accused Baiwan of being behind it. Qu Zheng quickly stepped in to protect Baiwan, promising to investigate the matter thoroughly. Baiwan, determined to complete her mission, left the two remaining pages in Qing Songke’s courtyard. Qu Zheng then ordered Su Zhuozhuo to return to Yanmen, and he prepared to part ways with Baiwan.

Though unwilling, Baiwan had no choice but to walk off on her own. Qu Zheng’s men had been secretly observing the situation and noticed a masked figure watching the two remaining pages. Meanwhile, Baiwan hadn’t gone far before she was chased by assassins. She tried to divert their attention to Qu Zheng, but they insisted they were only after her! At the critical moment, one of Qu Zheng’s masked men appeared to save her.

Qu Zheng, on the other hand, returned to the courtyard to confront the masked figure. The masked opponent was highly skilled, but Qu Zheng was no pushover. The masked man was shocked that Qu Zheng could withstand his palm strike and was eventually forced to flee. Qu Zheng hurried to rescue Baiwan, who was still wondering where her previous savior had gone. Qu Zheng asked her why she didn’t recognize the person standing right in front of her.

Baiwan hastily explained, but Qu Zheng was once again ready to part ways. Realizing the danger was real, Baiwan clung to him, insisting that he walk ahead while she followed behind. That night, she even flattered him, though Qu Zheng pretended not to care. After she fell asleep, he secretly watched over her. The masked figure was actually Jing Yuan, the Palace Master of the Nine Layers of the Ghostly Palace.

Years ago, in his quest for dominance over the martial world, he killed the Xu family and stole the *Puyuan True Scripture*. Although it was missing two pages, he still practiced it by force. Now, knowing someone could injure him, Jing Yuan realized the person was very familiar with the *Puyuan True Scripture*. After consulting a doctor, he learned that to heal his wounds, he would need a snow lotus flower, which could only be found in Taoyuan Valley.

Meanwhile, Qu Zheng also knew that the masked figure had been injured by his palm strike and was sure the man would head to Taoyuan Valley. His subordinates urged him to go, but Qu Zheng insisted that he couldn't go as his current self. Qu Zheng introduced his secret guard, Song Jianshan, to Baiwan.

The two then staged a playful scene in which Song Jianshan pretended to be pushing Qu Zheng to return home for an arranged marriage, making it look like Qu Zheng didn’t want to embarrass him. Baiwan didn’t quite understand, but the two men were already packing up, preparing to leave. They even said that they would meet again someday, no matter where in the world.

Something about those words made Baiwan feel sad, and reflecting on everything that had happened, she couldn’t help but cry. Unable to control herself, she chased after the carriage and finally stopped Qu Zheng. She asked him if getting married meant he wouldn’t have to return. Qu Zheng said nothing, so Baiwan directly asked if he could marry her instead. When Qu Zheng didn’t respond, Baiwan, heartbroken, turned to leave. Suddenly, Qu Zheng spoke, saying he was willing. Baiwan stood there, stunned.

Jin Baiwan was picking out a gift for Jin Muqiu. After selecting a congratulatory present, she found herself drawn to a hairpin. However, she couldn’t afford both the gift and the hairpin together, so she decided to give up on the hairpin. At that moment, Qu Zheng appeared, suggesting they pack both items together and offered to pay.

Baiwan felt embarrassed and tried to decline, but Qu Zheng insisted, saying it was a gift for their engagement and that Baiwan shouldn’t refuse. Without waiting for her response, he put the hairpin on her, which made Baiwan secretly very happy. As they left the store, the two came across a stall offering marriage fortune readings. Out of curiosity, they each drew a fortune stick. To their surprise, the results were great, and the fortune seemed to match them perfectly.

Baiwan was especially delighted because the fortune mentioned fireflies, which she really liked. Overjoyed, she gave the fortune stick to Qu Zheng, whose mind was filled with memories of their time together. Meanwhile, Jing Yuan was recovering from his injuries, but he still needed the snow lotus. Qing Yun heard about his father's injury and wanted to visit him, but the palace master refused to see anyone, except for Xue Yue, the messenger.

Xue Yue reported that the snow lotus was securely stored and would only be revealed at Yu Linfeng's wedding, which was scheduled for half a month later. The only command Jing Yuan had given after so long in seclusion was for Xue Yue to attend the wedding at Taoyuan Valley on behalf of Qing Yun.

Qing Yun knew that Xue Yue had a dark history of committing arson and murder, so he was certain she had other motives for the trip. Despite this, what troubled Qing Yun most was his childhood friend, A Chu, whom he had never seen due to his eye condition. Back with Baiwan and Qu Zheng, their relationship was going smoothly. Qu Zheng took her to see fireflies and asked her to call him "A Zheng.

" Though Baiwan wasn’t used to it, she found the moment incredibly sweet. On the other side, Yu Linfeng frequently visited Jin Muqiu, talking about his favorite poetry. This left Jin Muqiu in a bind as she always had to hide in her carriage, secretly flipping through books. Yu Linfeng was completely unaware and thought Jin Muqiu was his soulmate! After what felt like a long journey, Baiwan and Qu Zheng finally arrived at Taoyuan Town.

As soon as they entered, Song Jianshan got into a big fight with Su Zhuozhuo over some peach blossom pastries. Su Zhuozhuo, already annoyed to see Baiwan, exploded with anger when she learned about Baiwan’s engagement to Qu Zheng. She first went to question Song Jianshan but found no answers, so she decided to provoke Baiwan instead.

Baiwan, who had been happily thinking about how to tell her lady about her relationship with Qu Zheng, suddenly felt unworthy of him after Su Zhuozhuo’s words. The next morning, Qu Zheng couldn’t find Baiwan anywhere. Baiwan, having no place to go, didn’t know how to enter Taoyuan Valley. Just then, she saw a notice recruiting kitchen helpers for the valley, and an idea struck her.

When Qu Zheng arrived to visit Taoyuan Valley, Baiwan was just entering as a kitchen helper. She thought her disguise was perfect, but in fact, Qu Zheng had already noticed her. Later, Qu Zheng also met Zi Jing, who recognized Song Jianshan and instinctively tried to cover the scars from their previous fight. What the others didn’t know was that Qing Yun had also arrived, disguised as a kitchen helper just like Baiwan. For some reason, Baiwan felt that Qing Yun seemed oddly familiar!

Jin Baiwan felt that Qing Yun seemed familiar and couldn’t help but glance at him. As Zi Jing was being led to her room by the servants, Qing Yun noticed and quietly followed, overhearing their conversation. He soon realized they were after the storeroom in Taoyuan Valley. The steward gathered everyone in the kitchen and quickly noticed someone was missing. Just then, Qing Yun returned, and the steward began scolding him.

Qing Yun seemed impatient, but Jin Baiwan quickly intervened by tossing a handful of green beans, causing the steward to slip and fall. Qing Yun’s mistake was covered up, and he couldn’t help but glance at Baiwan. She asked for his name, but Qing Yun’s mind was filled with memories of A Chu’s voice, and it took him a while to respond. Baiwan was puzzled, wondering why this man kept saying she reminded him of someone else.

Qing Yun, however, simply remarked that she wasn’t as talkative as Baiwan. While Baiwan was still speechless, Qu Zheng arrived, surprising her with how quickly he had found her. However, Baiwan hadn’t changed her mind—she still didn’t want to burden Qu Zheng and insisted on breaking off the engagement. No matter how hard Qu Zheng tried, he couldn’t convince her to stay. Meanwhile, Jin Muqiu’s father advised her to play the zither to attract Yu Linfeng’s attention.

However, Muqiu only knew one song. Eventually, Yu Linfeng approached and suggested they play a duet. Muqiu quickly mentioned the one song she knew, and Linfeng happily agreed. Qu Zheng later told Song Jianshan about Baiwan wanting to break off the engagement. Qu Zheng suspected it was because of what he said to Su Zhuozhuo, but there was nothing he could do now. Although Qu Zheng didn’t blame him, Song Jianshan still felt guilty.

While spending time together, Jin Muqiu accidentally revealed her love for kites, prompting Yu Linfeng to bring out a kite he had made himself. Muqiu wrote something on it, and the two flew the kite together. Distracted, Muqiu tripped, and they accidentally kissed. Both were embarrassed, but Linfeng took the opportunity to confess his feelings. This was the first time Muqiu had heard Linfeng express his love, and she was overjoyed.

They later went shopping together, with Linfeng carefully remembering Muqiu’s preferences. She was happy as they wandered into a bookstore. Muqiu asked about the sales of her novels, but Linfeng bluntly declared the books were trash. Muqiu was stunned, realizing Linfeng didn’t like such novels and even criticized them.

When she asked what he would do if the author were standing before him, Linfeng coldly replied that he would cut ties immediately, believing that people are judged by the company they keep. Muqiu couldn’t hide her disappointment. She later talked with her father and remembered the deadline for her novel was approaching. She hadn’t written anything for a long time, and the deadline was almost here. But with Linfeng constantly by her side, Muqiu was feeling quite stressed.

On Baiwan’s side, Qing Yun went to find her. Although Baiwan remained stubborn, claiming she would handle the situation with Qu Zheng herself, it was clear to Qing Yun that she was conflicted. Baiwan, however, continued to avoid Qu Zheng. Qu Zheng, in turn, deliberately spoke with Su Zhuozhuo in front of Baiwan, not realizing she was already feeling jealous. Later, Qu Zheng sent someone to fetch Baiwan from the kitchen.

When she arrived, she discovered that Qu Zheng was actually complaining about the pastries, intentionally teasing her. Qu Zheng didn’t realize that Su Zhuozhuo was genuinely interested in him, and Su Zhuozhuo directly asked him to consider her feelings. Baiwan, heartbroken, was deeply affected by this. Jin Muqiu’s group soon arrived at Taoyuan Town. Along the way, her dowry scattered all over the place, and Muqiu was terrified that Yu Linfeng might see the books. But what scared her even more was the thought of meeting Linfeng’s parents—Muqiu was incredibly nervous!

Su Zhuozhuo openly confessed her feelings to Qu Zheng and accused Jin Baiwan of having ill intentions, claiming Baiwan was unworthy of liking Qu Zheng. She spoke ill of Baiwan at length, while Baiwan, who had been hiding in the shadows, couldn’t take it any longer and rushed out to defend herself. After speaking her mind, Baiwan turned to leave, and Qu Zheng instinctively wanted to chase after her.

Su Zhuozhuo tried to stop him, reminding him that his engagement with Baiwan was fake. Qu Zheng bluntly replied, “So what if it’s fake? ” and walked away. Baiwan was furious. When she saw Qu Zheng, she sarcastically asked why he wasn’t comforting Su Zhuozhuo. Qu Zheng immediately knew she was jealous and asked if she truly didn’t have any romantic feelings for him.

Though Baiwan stubbornly denied it, the look in her eyes told another story, filled with memories of their time together. Embarrassed, Baiwan quickly seized the moment when news arrived that her lady had returned, and she dashed away. Qu Zheng watched her leave, his eyes filled with emotion. Jin Muqiu was anxious about meeting Yu Linfeng’s parents and even asked Linfeng about his mother’s preferences.

However, the very fact that they were speaking in a secluded corner was already a violation of his mother’s rules. Muqiu was terribly embarrassed. As they were talking, Linfeng’s mother suddenly appeared behind her and questioned why Linfeng was whispering with Miss Jin in such a secretive manner. Linfeng quickly apologized. The two followed his mother to the main hall, where she made polite conversation before laying down the rules for Jin Muqiu.

She brought out two large stacks of books, which Muqiu already thought were excessive, and then added that these were only the contents pages. Muqiu was on the verge of tears. Later, when she was alone with her father, Muqiu exclaimed that she didn’t want to get married anymore. Her father sympathized with her, but it was too late to back out now. Soon after, Jin Baiwan burst in energetically, with Qu Zheng following closely behind.

Baiwan and Jin Muqiu hadn’t seen each other in a long time and had much to catch up on. Meanwhile, Qu Zheng pulled Muqiu’s father aside for a private conversation. Both sides were discussing the engagement between Baiwan and Qu Zheng, but from completely different perspectives. Baiwan told Muqiu that the engagement might be called off, and after hearing everything that had happened between them, Muqiu quickly realized Baiwan liked Qu Zheng.

Baiwan didn’t deny it but admitted she wasn’t sure if Qu Zheng liked her in return. Muqiu grabbed her and said they should go ask him directly! On the other side, Qu Zheng was telling Muqiu’s father a different version of events, explaining that Baiwan wasn’t willing to go through with the marriage and asking for his help. Muqiu’s father readily agreed.

As soon as Baiwan and Jin Muqiu stepped outside, they were surrounded by martial artists, all seeking the Pu Yuan Manual. Before anyone could act, the sound of a zither echoed in the air, announcing Qu Zheng’s arrival. He called Baiwan “Madam of Ting Qin Court” and shielded her from harm. After the situation was resolved, Qu Zheng left with the master of Taoyuan Valley, entrusting his zither to Baiwan.

Jin Muqiu encouraged Baiwan, insisting that Qu Zheng must like her. Excited, Baiwan decided to return the zither to Qu Zheng as an excuse to see him. However, when she found him, Qu Zheng was acting distant, implying that her previous words had hurt him. He said he wouldn’t force her, leaving Baiwan heartbroken and upset with Muqiu. When Jin Muqiu was later summoned by Yu Linfeng’s mother, Baiwan didn’t accompany her.

Linfeng’s mother clearly intended to make things difficult for Muqiu, ordering her to host a women’s gathering—something Muqiu had never done before—and even asking her to perform a piece of music at the event! Muqiu was overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Baiwan, feeling a sense of familiarity and kindness toward Qing Yun, gave him her servant token, worried that he might get into trouble with the steward again.

Jin Baiwan learned that Jin Muqiu had been portraying herself as a refined lady in front of Yu Linfeng, and now it was time to maintain that image. Muqiu was extremely worried, and Baiwan was equally concerned, afraid that Linfeng would discover that Muqiu was actually the author of the storybooks. However, the more pressing matter at hand was the upcoming musical performance. The two of them decided to seek out Qu Zheng for help with the zither.

Although Baiwan was somewhat reluctant, Muqiu’s situation took priority. Qu Zheng seemed to already know what was happening and was patiently waiting. He agreed to teach Muqiu without hesitation. Standing by the side, Baiwan urged Qu Zheng to teach Muqiu a more refined piece. Qu Zheng seized the moment to tease Baiwan, and after a brief exchange, she stormed off in frustration. Jin Muqiu, on Baiwan’s behalf, confessed that Baiwan liked him, and Qu Zheng couldn’t help but smile.

As the women’s gathering was about to start, everyone had arrived except for Jin Muqiu. Linfeng’s mother, growing impatient, sent someone to fetch her. Meanwhile, Su Zhuozhuo had already taken her seat, casting a glance at the wine she had prepared specifically for Baiwan, plotting to make a scene. Muqiu, still nervous, was being encouraged by Baiwan. Even when they reached the main hall, Muqiu was trembling. She stammered through a pre-memorized speech before preparing to play the zither.

Needing a confidence boost, she reached for a drink. Baiwan, seated nearby, poured her a glass. Su Zhuozhuo panicked, but it was too late! Muqiu, after drinking, completely dropped her pretense of being a refined lady. Su Zhuozhuo couldn’t bear to watch the scene unfold. This was all her doing. Muqiu, no longer pretending, left everyone, including Linfeng’s mother, stunned. The other guests began looking at Muqiu differently, but she boldly voiced her true feelings.

Seeing this, Baiwan had no choice but to play along, and the two even started coaxing Linfeng’s mother into drinking. The gathering quickly descended into chaos. In the midst of the confusion, Zi Jing quietly drew a dagger from behind and was ready to attack Baiwan. Outside, Qing Yun happened to catch sight of a moon-shaped emblem on Baiwan’s arm. He couldn’t believe it, but nonetheless, he intervened and stopped Zi Jing from attacking.

Soon after, the martial artists who had been discussing important matters arrived as well, and Qu Zheng carried Baiwan away from the scene. Jin Muqiu, still drunk, was taken back by Yu Linfeng. In her drunken state, she began causing a ruckus and admitted to Linfeng that she had been deceiving him. She asked if he would still love her even if she wasn’t a refined lady.

Linfeng, without hesitation, said that he never loved her for being a refined lady in the first place. However, given the current mess, he needed to find a way to solve the problem for her. By the time he finished speaking, Muqiu had already fallen asleep, resting her head on Linfeng’s shoulder. Meanwhile, Baiwan was also heavily intoxicated. Seizing the moment, Qu Zheng asked her about her life before she came to the Jin Escort Agency five years ago.

Baiwan had no recollection of that time. Qu Zheng didn’t press her further, but instead, gazed at the keepsake they shared and fell into deep thought. The fox pendant had originally been a gift from Qu Zheng to her, but for some reason, she had disappeared shortly after receiving it. Qu Zheng had been searching for her ever since, and finally found her after she joined the Jin Escort Agency. Determined, Qu Zheng altered his plans entirely. He was now plotting something big, certain that the person behind the Pu Yuan Manual would appear in Taoyuan Valley!

Jin Muqiu finally woke up, feeling that she reeked of alcohol. Once she became fully aware, she started looking for Jin Baiwan. At the same time, Yu Linfeng was still reflecting on what Muqiu had said while hugging him the previous night, staring blankly at the kite Muqiu had inscribed. Just then, one of his subordinates arrived with news that the valley master and his wife had summoned him.

Linfeng had anticipated this, but what surprised him was that, after waking up, Jin Muqiu had gone straight to see the Master of the Listening Zither Pavilion. Realizing the gravity of the situation, Linfeng quickly set off to find her. Meanwhile, Jin Baiwan had also woken up. After wandering around, she was shocked to find Qu Zheng in the room. She was even more surprised when Qu Zheng informed her that this was, in fact, his room, leaving Baiwan speechless.

Qu Zheng continued to say things that made Baiwan embarrassed, leaving her at a loss for words. At that moment, Jin Muqiu burst in, loudly proclaiming that Qu Zheng shouldn’t bully Baiwan, causing Baiwan to feel even more flustered. Soon after, Linfeng’s people arrived to summon Jin Muqiu to the main hall. Nervous, Muqiu had no choice but to go.

The valley master and his wife were furious about the incident at the women’s gathering, and even Jin Muqiu’s father, the head of the Jin Escort Agency, was apologizing on her behalf. Muqiu didn’t want to avoid responsibility and stood up to face the situation, but Linfeng stepped in first, taking full responsibility. He claimed that it was his failure to inform Muqiu of the rules in time.

Linfeng even volunteered to write a formal family code and then sat down obediently. Muqiu, feeling a mix of emotions, glanced at him, complaining about how strict the rules in Taoyuan Valley were. Linfeng suddenly became serious and asked her if she knew how the valley had maintained its hundred-year foundation. He sternly reminded her that without rules, nothing could be accomplished, indirectly telling Muqiu that some things shouldn’t be said. Muqiu, realizing she had no response, could only leave.

Linfeng then regretted if perhaps he had been too harsh with her. At the same time, Baiwan was also worried about Jin Muqiu, but her greater concern arrived in the form of Su Zhuozhuo, who bluntly stated she had come to see Qu Zheng. What surprised Baiwan was that Qu Zheng immediately left with Su Zhuozhuo. Baiwan felt a pang of discomfort, though in reality, Qu Zheng and Su Zhuozhuo were discussing the events of the women’s gathering.

Qu Zheng was already fully aware of everything, and Su Zhuozhuo admitted to it. The two had long since cleared the air between them. Su Zhuozhuo, being forthright by nature, declared that she would surely find someone better. Unfortunately, Baiwan didn’t hear any of this. She only saw Muqiu sobbing. Muqiu was deeply concerned that Linfeng knew everything now, worried that he might no longer like her.

She asked Baiwan to help her, but Qu Zheng remarked that Baiwan alone wouldn’t be enough for this task. Su Zhuozhuo, seeing an opportunity, promised to help in any way she could. Thus, Baiwan and Qu Zheng purposely spread rumors about Muqiu being ill, and sure enough, Linfeng fell for it. Su Zhuozhuo, on her end, helped Muqiu apply makeup to look sick. When Linfeng saw Muqiu, his heart softened immediately, and they embraced.

However, Muqiu’s face powder smudged onto Linfeng’s clothes, revealing the act. Furious, Linfeng’s expression darkened, but Qu Zheng quickly stepped in, playing the role of a confidant. Linfeng, growing jealous, immediately grabbed Muqiu’s hand to assert his claim over her. Baiwan was worried, afraid that Linfeng might misunderstand the situation. That evening, Qu Zheng took Baiwan up to the rooftop, where they happened to see Muqiu and Linfeng reconciling.

As they watched the scene unfold, they lost their footing and accidentally kissed. Qu Zheng, completely unfazed, casually remarked that Baiwan was smart for figuring out what he wanted. With the wedding approaching, the storeroom of Taoyuan Valley was about to be opened. Qu Zheng knew the time was near, and finally, Zi Jing made her move. Linfeng’s martial prowess was insufficient, and the Snow Lotus was stolen!
