Jin Muqiu and Lin Feng found themselves alone in their bridal chamber after their wedding ceremony, a stark contrast to the joyful atmosphere elsewhere. Lin Feng suggested they share the cross-cupped wine, but Jin Muqiu declined, stating that their marriage was merely for the sake of their respective families' reputations – Taoyuan Valley's honor for him and Jin's Escort Agency for her. There was no affection between them, she said, rendering the ritual meaningless.

Lin Feng poured and drank the wine alone. On the wall, a kite Jin Muqiu had written on hung as a silent testament to their past relationship, now seeming like a mockery of their current situation. Meanwhile, guests, including Jin Baiwan and Qu Zheng, were enjoying the wedding feast. Jin Baiwan expressed sadness that she would no longer be able to be constantly by Miss Jin Muqiu's side.

Qu Zheng gently reminded her that she was now the lady of his Tingqin Garden, so naturally, things would be different. They spoke of their future together. Zi Jing observed them before rising to offer congratulations to the Valley Master. Suddenly, Qingyun, the Envoy Heiyun and Young Host of Nonuple Palace, arrived unannounced.

He declared that the long-lost eldest disciple of Nonuple Palace, Chu, who disappeared five years ago, had been found in Taoyuan Valley, and identified her as Jin Baiwan. This announcement stunned everyone present, except for Qu Zheng. Qingyun insisted he had proof and presented Zi Jing, the current Envoy Xueyue. Zi Jing explained that every Envoy Xueyue bears a red moon mark on their wrist and showed hers. Jin Baiwan, bewildered, checked her own wrist and found the same mark.

Confusion and murmurs spread through the guests. Qu Zheng intervened, asserting that Jin Baiwan was now a member of his Tingqin Garden and his wife, and a mere mark was not enough to claim her. Qingyun maintained that he was acting under orders from Majesty Jing Yuan and intended to take her back for verification. Qu Zheng firmly refused, stating his wife would not go with him. The disagreement escalated into a fight.

Despite having not fully recovered from being poisoned, Qu Zheng displayed formidable martial art prowess and subdued Qingyun and his followers. In the ensuing chaos, Jin Baiwan was knocked unconscious. Qu Zheng, after a moment to compose himself, took the unconscious Jin Baiwan and left the scene. The guests debated the sudden turn of events, some questioning Qu Zheng's actions, others wondering about Nonuple Palace's true intentions.

Unaware of the dramatic interruption, Jin Muqiu, who had been peeking out from her room, was discovered by Lin Feng. He sharply criticized her for involving herself in matters concerning martial arts figures and for failing to behave as a proper wife should, further deepening the rift between them. Shortly after, a subordinate arrived with news regarding Qu Zheng and Jin Baiwan's whereabouts. Jin Baiwan woke up to find herself in unfamiliar surroundings, which she soon learned was Tingqin Garden.

She asked for Qu Zheng but was told he was busy with pressing matters. She suspected he was avoiding her because he was injured from the fight. Indeed, Qu Zheng was injured, having aggravated his previous poisoning by using his martial art. He spoke with Doctor Su, who confirmed Jin Baiwan was fine but expressed concern about Qu Zheng's condition. Qu Zheng revealed that the investigation confirmed Nonuple Palace had an eldest disciple named Chu who disappeared five years prior.

He admitted that Jin Baiwan was indeed that disciple. He recounted the night his family was massacred. He had searched for the Puyuan Canon and was attacked, but Chu, then the Envoy Xueyue, had saved him. She had identified his attacker as the culprit behind his family's murder before leaving under orders from Majesty Jing Yuan.

Qu Zheng realized his parents had hidden the last two pages of the Puyuan Canon within the Gongche Notation of his Guqin to prevent it from falling into Jing Yuan's hands, whom he now saw as truly malevolent. He believed Jin Baiwan's amnesia likely stemmed from discovering some truth about Jing Yuan five years ago and disobeying his orders, after which she was saved by Jin's Escort Agency.

He felt that the saussurea involucrata he had arranged for Jing Yuan should keep him occupied for a while. Meanwhile, Jing Yuan received the saussurea from a subordinate. Another subordinate then arrived with the news that the long-lost senior sister, Chu, had been found in Taoyuan Valley. Upon hearing this, Jing Yuan reacted violently, seemingly overcome with shock and anger, causing alarm to his attending doctor. Still worried about Qu Zheng, Jin Baiwan decided to find him herself that night.

She located him and gently applied medicine to his wounds. Qu Zheng asked her how she felt about the strange events that transpired at the wedding feast. Jin Baiwan found everything very peculiar, especially the sudden claim that she was Nonuple Palace's eldest disciple. She acknowledged that the mark on her wrist did cause her to feel a moment of doubt.

She admitted that she had previously wished to recover her memories but now felt that since she had forgotten her past and found kind people like Miss Jin Muqiu and those at Jin's Escort Agency, she should focus on living happily every day from now on. Qu Zheng explained that the people from Nonuple Palace had attempted to forcibly take her, and he had fought to prevent it, which had exacerbated his injury.

Jin Baiwan affirmed that she trusted him and the people of Jin's Escort Agency. Qu Zheng teasingly reminded her that she used to call him a "cunning fox" before their engagement. She helped him fasten his clothes. He remarked on her gentle touch and jested that he should have gotten injured sooner if it meant receiving such care from her. As it was late, she prepared to leave, but he insisted on accompanying her back.

Walking with her in the snow, Qu Zheng promised that from now on, he would ensure she lived happily every day, never again troubled by her past, which he described as bloody and ugly.
