Su Chengcheng pretended to have low blood sugar, prompting Tang Qi to carry her back to her room with concern. Just then, Lin Yuan suddenly appeared and scolded Tang Qi. To completely dispel Tang Qi’s suspicions, Su Chengcheng disguised herself as Quan Shengtang again and called Tang Qi while he was watching from across Su Chengcheng’s room. After the garden fair ended, Quan Shengtang left. Su Chengcheng felt relieved that she no longer had to switch between two identities.
However, just as she was about to revert to herself, her wristband unexpectedly upgraded, forcing her to continue playing the role of Quan Shengtang. To avoid exposing the truth, Lin Yuan urged Su Chengcheng to leave quickly. But just as Quan Shengtang was about to drive away, Tang Qi suddenly appeared, insisting on going along. Thunder rumbled across the sky. Worried that Su Chengcheng might be in danger alone in the heavy rain, Lin Yuan called to check on her.
As luck would have it, Lin Yuan’s name appeared on the car’s display screen. Quan Shengtang answered the call and quickly made up an excuse, telling Lin Yuan that Tang Qi was also in the car. This explanation prevented Lin Yuan from slipping up. Thinking the situation was handled, Quan Shengtang was caught off guard when Wang Yi suddenly called. Knowing it must be work-related, Quan Shengtang hesitated and didn’t answer.
Tang Qi, seeing the incoming call, offered to pick up instead. Wang Yi, confused by the whole situation, could only follow Quan Shengtang’s instructions and go find Lin Yuan. To avoid arousing Gu Yu’s suspicions, Lin Yuan lied that she was afraid of thunder and lightning and asked him to escort her back to her room. Gu Yu, however, sensed that there was a secret between Lin Yuan, Su Chengcheng, and Quan Shengtang.
He wanted to ask more questions, but Lin Yuan quickly came up with another excuse to brush him off. Tang Qi and Quan Shengtang took turns driving. When it was Tang Qi’s turn to drive, Quan Shengtang sat in the passenger seat. Suddenly, a thunderclap echoed through the sky, and for a brief moment, Quan Shengtang’s face shifted—transforming back into Su Chengcheng’s original appearance. Tang Qi saw it clearly.
Quan Shengtang quickly covered up by claiming that during the lightning flash, Tang Qi’s face had also changed—into Gu Yu’s. He even pretended to be frightened. In the end, Tang Qi convinced himself it was just an illusion and even reassured Quan Shengtang, saying that with proper medical treatment, everything could be cured. The next day, Tang Qi went to work looking for Su Chengcheng, only to learn that she had taken sick leave.
Returning to the laboratory, he recalled his visit to the doctor. The doctor had told him that his eyesight was perfectly healthy, with no abnormalities. This made Tang Qi suspicious again. Determined to verify his doubts, he asked Gu Yu to get him a dual-SIM phone and then called Wang Yi to the laboratory for confirmation. From their conversation, he discovered that Wang Yi had actually gone to meet Su Chengcheng the previous night.
Tang Qi became increasingly convinced that Su Chengcheng and Quan Shengtang were the same person. To confirm his theory, he went to Su Chengcheng’s house. Su Qingli, trying to prevent any slip-ups, quickly led Tang Qi away. He kept questioning Su Qingli about Su Chengcheng’s whereabouts, but she dodged his inquiries with various excuses. When Tang Qi decided to ask her parents directly, Su Qingli was at a loss. At that moment, Su Chengcheng suddenly appeared.
To Tang Qi’s shock, Quan Shengtang appeared as well. However, he looked exhausted, and even his voice had changed. The Quan Shengtang standing before Tang Qi was suddenly wealthy and highly emotional, as if gravely ill. In the end, Su Chengcheng took Quan Shengtang into an ambulance. Later, she sent Tang Qi a message—Quan Shengtang was gone. Hearing of Quan Shengtang’s death, Tang Qi was overwhelmed with guilt.
He believed that if he hadn’t been so persistent in proving that Su Chengcheng and Quan Shengtang were the same person, then Quan Shengtang wouldn’t have come out to meet him despite being sick. He wouldn’t have been exposed to the cold wind, and perhaps he wouldn’t have died. Gu Yu stayed by Tang Qi’s side, comforting him. No one could have foreseen such a sudden tragedy.
After some time, Gu Yu noticed that Tang Qi’s clothes were stained with Quan Shengtang’s blood. He suggested that Tang Qi change. However, when Tang Qi looked down and saw the writing on his clothes, he was stunned once again.
