After the ambulance had driven a certain distance, Su Chengcheng cheered excitedly upon realizing they had successfully distanced themselves from Tang Qi. The supposedly ill Quan Shengtang also sat up happily and joined in the celebration—Su Qingli was the one driving the vehicle. Once they got off the ambulance, Su Chengcheng transformed Quan Shengtang back into Lin Yuan. It turned out that Quan Shengtang had been Lin Yuan all along.
This was a new feature from the latest upgrade of Su Chengcheng’s wristband, allowing it to perform 3D printing and projection. Initially, Su Chengcheng and Lin Yuan had planned to make Quan Shengtang disappear completely using the same method as Su Miao. However, Su Chengcheng hesitated, feeling that it would be too cruel for Tang Qi.
But after Su Qingli sent her a photo of Tang Qi arriving at her home, Su Chengcheng made up her mind and carried out the entire act. Su Qingli, believing that nothing comes without consequences, warned Su Chengcheng to use the wristband less frequently, as the potential side effects remained unknown. Meanwhile, Tang Qi was still grieving. When Gu Yu reminded him about the bloodstains on his clothes, Tang Qi suddenly noticed that the color of the blood seemed off.
Gu Yu also found it suspicious. He pointed out that the number of sudden deaths Tang Qi had witnessed lately was unnaturally high, an almost impossible probability. Tang Qi went to the laboratory and tested the blood on his clothes, discovering that it was merely a pigment rather than real blood. Gu Yu searched online and found that the bloodstains were the kind used in film productions—meaning Quan Shengtang wasn’t actually dead.
To verify Quan Shengtang’s true identity, Tang Qi attempted to call Fang Jin, but her phone was turned off, making it impossible to reach her. Gu Yu then contacted Fang Jin’s secretary, Secretary Wang, who informed them that Fang Jin had gone abroad for an exchange program and wouldn’t be back for some time. This raised even more suspicion. Previously, Quan Shengtang had appeared in public as Fang Jin’s boyfriend.
If something serious had really happened to him, it was impossible for Fang Jin to be completely unaware. Yet her reaction suggested she knew nothing at all. Tang Qi and Gu Yu then went to the police station to investigate Quan Shengtang’s identity and any related clues, but there were no records of his existence. Early the next morning, Su Chengcheng was still in a deep sleep when Tang Qi called.
Since Quan Shengtang was supposed to be buried that day according to the given timeline, Tang Qi wanted to attend the funeral. Su Chengcheng lied, saying that Quan Shengtang had already been cremated and that his ashes had been scattered into the river according to his wishes. She even added that if Tang Qi wanted to pay his respects, he could simply find any river. Tang Qi continued asking questions about Quan Shengtang’s family.
Left with no choice, Su Chengcheng fabricated a story about his grandmother. Tang Qi followed the address provided by Su Chengcheng and met Quan Shengtang’s so-called grandmother. He tried to probe her with various questions and even claimed he wanted to take care of her in her old age. Meanwhile, Gu Yu was outside conducting his own secret investigation, asking the surrounding neighbors about the grandmother. Suddenly, Tang Qi lost his vision.
The grandmother panicked and insisted on taking him to the hospital immediately. While descending the stairs, Tang Qi accidentally slipped, but the grandmother swiftly caught him, revealing an impressive level of agility. At the hospital, tests showed that there was nothing physically wrong with Tang Qi’s eyes. The doctors suggested that his blindness might be a psychological response triggered by an external stimulus. Tang Qi believed that his deep guilt over Quan Shengtang’s death was what caused his sudden blindness.
Hearing this, the grandmother felt ashamed—because she was actually Su Chengcheng in disguise. She realized that her actions had indirectly led to Tang Qi’s blindness. Su Chengcheng carefully took Tang Qi home and tended to him. When Gu Yu arrived, Su Chengcheng intended to leave quietly. However, Tang Qi insisted that Gu Yu escort her back. Once Su Chengcheng and Gu Yu had left, Tang Qi dropped his act—he had been pretending to be blind all along.
His intention was to make Su Chengcheng slip up, and he had witnessed everything clearly. At that moment, Tang Qi picked up his phone and called Su Chengcheng again. Since she was with Gu Yu and couldn’t conveniently take the call, yet worried that Tang Qi might truly be in urgent need due to his "blindness," she quickly asked Gu Yu to call him back instead. Meanwhile, Lin Yuan escorted the "grandmother" home.
Coincidentally, she saw Gu Yu walking alongside Su Chengcheng. It turned out that the house Su Chengcheng had been using belonged to Lin Yuan’s grandmother. Lin Yuan quickly led her grandmother away. Concerned that something might have happened to Tang Qi, Su Chengcheng, after reverting to her own identity, immediately called Tang Qi again to check on him.
