As the saying goes, "Enemies often cross paths." In the supermarket, Xu Qin and Song Yan coincidentally ran into each other. Song Yan was accompanied by Dapeng for grocery shopping, and they encountered Xu Qin and Meng Yanchen shopping as well. When Meng Yanchen and Song Yan locked eyes, sparks seemed to fly between them. To ease the tension, Xu Qin quickly grabbed a bag of potato chips from a nearby shelf. Meng Yanchen deliberately made a veiled comment, suggesting that potato chips are unhealthy and one should stay away from junk food. It was clearly provocation. Song Yan, unfazed, grabbed three or five bags of French fries from the vicinity and put them in the shopping cart. He then left with his comrades.

Upon hearing that her daughter was currently undergoing firefighting training at the fire station, Xu Qin's mother immediately called the hospital director, assuming that her daughter's old flame, Song Yan, would reignite. She demanded that the nurses be immediately withdrawn from the fire station. Coincidentally, she ran into Meng Yanchen returning home. Jiang Yu was also surprised and wondered who had filed the complaint. Song Yan already had a suspicion that it was related to Xu Qin's mother. Many years ago, he had experienced the tactics of Xu Qin's mother. When she found out that her daughter was in a relationship with him, she exaggerated the situation and reported it to the school, almost ruining Song Yan's academic record. At that time, Song Yan's uncle knelt down, begging Xu Qin's mother for mercy, hoping that she would spare him. He pleaded that Song Yan was still young, and his future was still long. Sure enough, a few days later, Xu Qin's mother came to see Song Yan. Song Yan had already guessed the purpose of this meeting. Xu Qin's mother intentionally claimed that people should have dignity when they are alive. Xu Qin's mother mentioned Song Yan's sore spot. He didn't hesitate to fight back, stating that he became a firefighter and had never looked down upon or disrespected anyone, except for her. He had never held her in high regard. After saying these words, he paid for the coffee on the table using his phone and left.

Xu Qin and a few colleagues saw the firefighters undergoing fire extinguishing training. They observed how the firefighters held the water hoses with ease. The medical staff was eager to try it themselves, but when they turned on the water taps, they lost control, and Xu Qin ended up getting wet from the water hose. Song Yan noticed from a distance but didn't come to help.

In the dressing room, Song Yan learned that Xu Qin's clothes had gotten wet. He specially fetched a set of firefighting gear and sent it to her. After taking a shower, Xu Qin's hair was still wet, so Song Yan helped her blow-dry it. This scene reminded Xu Qin of a time in high school when they got caught in the rain together. Song Yan brought her to his aunt's house and found a hairdryer for her, urging her to quickly dry her hair to avoid catching a cold the next day. Although time had passed since then, they both hadn't forgotten. At that moment, despite harboring beautiful memories, Song Yan firmly proposed breaking up. Xu Qin was heartbroken, but she had no choice. Her mother's opposition still remained, as if there were mountains separating them.

The time to bid farewell had come. Xu Qin sat alone in the fire truck, taking the passenger seat that Song Yan often occupied. Feeling Song Yan's presence, she prayed every day for his safe return from missions. She unintentionally noticed a lighter on the seat. It was a gift she had personally given to Song Yan ten years ago. It turned out that he had been carrying it with him all this time. With this realization, Xu Qin couldn't help but shed tears.
