Every time before the border defense mission, soldiers would write a letter to their families. Border defense missions are extremely dangerous, so these letters can be considered as testaments. Many of Song Yan's comrades had already written their letters, but he was hesitating. His mother had remarried, and his father had passed away. He believed that he had no one left to worry about except Xu Qin. So he only wrote a letter to Xu Qin.

The border defense mission was brutal, and several of his comrades encountered accidents. Song Yan was also hit by a few bullets, but the most fatal one struck his lighter in his chest pocket, which saved his life. When he woke up in the hospital bed and saw the lighter, he thought that if he had the chance, he would marry Xu Qin. However, five years had passed, and this wish remained unfulfilled. Song Yan knew that this matter couldn't be one-sided. If Xu Qin had decided to sever ties with him and their families, he didn't want to see that happen.

Xu Qin's mother started arranging blind dates for her two children. Knowing that they were busy, she even brought a blind date girl to their home. Meng Yanchen had originally planned to visit an art exhibition but couldn't resist his mother's invitation, so he reluctantly brought the blind date girl to the exhibition.

At the art exhibition, Meng Yanchen was captivated by a painting. The painting depicted two children sitting on a pale blue courtyard wall, surrounded by peach blossoms and lush green leaves. The childhood sweethearts portrayed in the painting seemed idyllic, but it appeared to be a reminiscence and longing of the artist alone. Each participant in the fire drill had assigned roles and scripts. Xu Qin received her role as a trapped person in the pharmacy. The fire alarm rang for a long time, and Xu Qin sat bored in the ward, waiting for the firefighters' rescue. Half an hour passed, and no one came in. Feeling restless, Xu Qin stood up, preparing to tidy up and go home. At that moment, the door opened, and it turned out to be Song Yan, checking each room one by one. He was surprised to find Xu Qin and asked why she didn't call for help when she was trapped in the fire. Xu Qin was also puzzled since the script didn't mention calling for help or taking any other emergency measures; it simply instructed her to wait for someone to come and rescue her.

Suddenly, the lights on the ceiling started shaking, and glass bottles of medicines fell from the cabinets, shattering on the floor. It was clearly an earthquake. Song Yan quickly used his body to shield Xu Qin in a triangular safe zone, preventing her from getting hurt. When the tremors became smaller, Song Yan felt relieved and walked out of the room. Outside, people were shouting about an earthquake. Song Yan had to go for rescue operations, so he bid farewell to Xu Qin. As he saw the broken glass scattered in front of Xu Qin, he swiftly approached and carried her to a safe area before setting her down. Seeing Song Yan's back as he headed off, Xu Qin was filled with excitement. Whenever she saw Song Yan during a crisis, she felt incredibly safe. Unable to contain herself, she ran towards Song Yan, wanting to join him in the rescue efforts.
