Meng Yanchen left Meng's home feeling worried about Xu Qin. He thought of calling her while sitting in the car, but in the end, he didn't dial the number. When he arrived downstairs at Xu Qin's home, he coincidentally met Song Yan. Xu Qin called Song Yan "brother" and quickly went over to hug him. Song Yan asked her to go upstairs, and Xu Qin obediently went upstairs.

Meng Yanchen looked at Song Yan and said that as long as their parents didn't agree, they couldn't be together. He believed that Song Yan wasn't worthy of Xu Qin. He told Song Yan that if he had any pride, he should have worked hard for the past ten years to become worthy of Xu Qin. However, Song Yan responded by saying that no one from the Meng family was qualified to discuss whether he was worthy or not. He accused Meng Yanchen of not truly understanding Xu Qin, stating that Xu Qin felt suppressed in the Meng family, suffered from long-term insomnia, and needed sleeping pills to fall asleep. However, she was happy when she was with him. Meng Yanchen felt ashamed by his words, and Song Yan looked upstairs, saying that Xu Qin might jump from the building someday. After speaking, he went upstairs.

Upon hearing the doorbell, Xu Qin quickly opened the door and asked if they had quarreled. Song Yan told her to go and check, and Xu Qin closed the door.

Meng Yanchen was drinking alone when Xiao Xiao came in and encouraged him to share his troubles. Meng Yanchen compared his situation to two caterpillars living in darkness. One of them was about to transform into a butterfly and fly away, leaving the other caterpillar unable to find its past companion. Xiao Xiao immediately recognized that he was talking about himself and Xu Qin. She comforted him, saying that Xu Qin was braver than Meng Yanchen.

Meng Yanchen ordered another bottle of alcohol, and Ye Zi brought it to him. However, his friend stopped Ye Zi and questioned why she was still doing part-time work instead of getting a job. Ye Zi answered all the questions, but his friend advised her to be realistic and not to have any other ideas. He commented on her appearance and demeanor, telling her to go settle the accounts and not come to work tomorrow. Ye Zi was stunned, and her colleagues began discussing the situation.

His friend handed Meng Yanchen a glass of water, saying it was vodka. Meng Yanchen replied that he wasn't foolish and his friend told him to take a rest as he had to leave for something. He instructed the waiter to arrange a designated driver for Meng Yanchen before leaving.

When Meng Yanchen woke up, he found himself in an unfamiliar room. He walked out and met Ye Zi, who was returning with breakfast. He asked her why he was there, mentioning that the address was on the order. Ye Zi replied that maybe rich people think everyone is trying to harm them. She explained that the previous night, Meng Yanchen refused to get out of the car and go home, saying that he didn't want to return home no matter where he went. Meng Yanchen immediately apologized, saying he really couldn't remember. Ye Zi didn't hold a grudge and asked him to have breakfast before leaving. She bought him toothpaste and a toothbrush, and they had breakfast together.

When Xu Qin woke up, Song Yan had prepared breakfast. She asked if Song Yan had to return to the team on Monday, and he confirmed that was the case but reassured her that he would be able to come back on the same day. Xu Qin teased that the team was quite considerate, and Song Yan mentioned that the locally married firefighters had more time off. At this moment, Meng's mother suddenly called, saying Xu Qin hadn't returned home for over a month. Xu Qin asked if tomorrow would be okay, as she was currently at work, but Meng's mother insisted on talking to the leadership. Xu Qin could only agree and told Song Yan that Meng's mother was urging her to go home that night, so she couldn't come back to stay tonight.

While on a rescue mission, Xu Qin encountered a burning bus. She heard a little girl used a fire hammer to save everyone. It turned out to be Zhai Miao. Zhai Miao called Xu Qin "sister-in-law" and apologized for her past attitude. She hoped to let bygones be bygones and mentioned that although the Meng family had their set of rules, they treated Xu Qin as if she were their biological daughter. Xu Qin noticed that Zhai Miao's clothes were burned and wanted to give her a new one, but Zhai Miao refused, saying she didn't want to trouble Xu Qin and left.

In the office, colleagues were teasing Li Nan and Zhang Dapeng's relationship. Xu Qin, breaking her usual silence, expressed her opinion that at least the process was important.
