Returning home, Yan Nanxing breathed a sigh of relief. She thought it was her menstrual cycle but realized it was just a stain. Yan Nanxing had been very scared earlier because she never knew what she would transform into: sometimes an old person, sometimes a man, sometimes a child. Jiang Xinbai hadn't expected her to admit it, and Yan Nanxing hadn't expected to seek Jiang Xinbai's help.

Jiang Xinbai reassured her that no matter what she turned into, he would recognize her. Yan Nanxing, though skeptical, chose to believe him. Jiang Xinbai suggested that the boy Yan Nanxing was looking for might be controlling his transformation to avoid meeting her. This angered Yan Nanxing, who almost drove him away. Jiang Xinbai quickly confessed that he was face-blind and related to the loneliness Yan Nanxing described, which was why he wanted to protect her.

Jiang Suoluo was convinced that Yan Nanxing was almost certainly the He Man bride, so she broke into Hua Xiangrong at midnight to find evidence but was discovered by Liu Ruoqian. Liu Ruoqian mistakenly thought she was a performing dancer, which infuriated Jiang Suoluo. She mistook him for a guest. Before leaving, Liu Ruoqian gave Jiang Suoluo a flower, telling her not to be angry and to smile more.

When Yan Nanxing was bored, she wondered what it felt like to be face-blind. She went out wearing a veil to observe the people on the street, but she couldn't fully understand Jiang Xinbai's perspective. Jiang Xinbai, watching from above, was stunned. Was Yan Nanxing experiencing his world? Jiang Xinbai thoroughly investigated the gambling house, where Nan Jifeng was hiding among the shop assistants. Shang Bieli rushed over to stop Jiang Xinbai from taking Li Wufang but failed.

After Li Wufang was captured, his grandfather Li Da and Lord Lu came to rescue him, so Jiang Xinbai released him. Jiang Xinbai's grandfather, who knew Jiang Xinbai had been seeking revenge for his father all these years, also arrived. When Lord Xi was exiled to Yazhou, no matter how much his grandfather tried to persuade him, Jiang Xinbai, at only five years old, said he was Lord Xi's son.

Now, he still had the same determination to ensure those responsible received their due punishment and to eliminate Zornia herb entirely. Yan Biqing went on a study tour to the local government school. Upon returning to the Hanlin Academy, he eagerly expressed his longing for Jiang Suoluo. The two had previously made a lifelong promise to each other, and Yan Biqing couldn't wait to let their elders know, but Jiang Suoluo said the time wasn't right yet.

Tong Saier got lost on the street and encountered Shang Bieli on horseback, who kindly sent her back. Shang Bieli advised Tong Saier not to stay in Hua Xiangrong, but Tong Saier had already considered Yan Nanxing as family and was willing to stay there. Jiang Zhi asked Jiang Xinbai if he had secretly married. Jiang Xinbai admitted it but said they had secretly divorced. His life was turbulent, perhaps not suitable for a woman seeking stability.

Yan Nanxing lowered her head upon hearing this. They encountered Yan Biqing on the road, and Jiang Xinbai couldn't recognize his voice, so Yan Nanxing helped out. Jiang Xinbai escorted Yan Nanxing home, surprised she didn't take advantage of his situation earlier. He hoped they could protect each other. Jiang Xinbai needed to witness Yan Nanxing's transformation process to know how to protect her.

Yan Nanxing was at a loss, as she mostly transformed at night or even in her sleep. Jiang Xinbai, holding Yan Nanxing's hand on the swing, suggested they sleep together so he could see for himself.
