Whenever Yan Nanxing thought of Jiang Xinbai's words "sleep with me," she would become dazed, unable to understand what he meant. After some analysis from Madam Bao, Yan Nanxing concluded that Jiang Xinbai was a lecher and a rogue. Yan Nanxing's secret phrase with her childhood friend was "Are you cold?" So now, whenever Yan Nanxing met a guest, she would ask this question, even having Tong Saier ask on her behalf.

Yao Qianshu reported that Nan Jifeng had already fled to the southern six states and had made arrangements in He Man. Someone was also inquiring about Jiang Xinbai's marriage in He Man. Jiang Suoluo received a portrait and was surprised to find that the bride wasn't Yan Nanxing. As she was lost in thought, Liu Ruoqian came by again. He thought Jiang Suoluo was a dancer there, and since she had no customers, he gave her money to chat with him. However, he didn't realize she wasn't a dancer but a distinguished guest. Jiang Suoluo wasn't angry; instead, she gave him a large sum of money, asking him to perform for her and support her.

Grandfather, infuriated by Jiang Xinbai's situation, stormed over to find Jiang Zhi, claiming that the heir of the Yuejiang Palace must have the Jiang family's interests at heart. Jiang Zhi, worried about Jiang Xinbai's future, took the initiative to seek a reliable marriage for him, even disregarding whether Jiang Xinbai would join the bride's family. Lord Pei initially refused but eventually agreed to let the two young people meet due to Jiang Zhi's insistence.

Jiang Zhi told Yan Nanxing about this. Lord Pei's third daughter was a good match, and she hoped Yan Nanxing would help facilitate this marriage. Yan Nanxing refused repeatedly, but Jiang Zhi held her hand, saying they were like sisters and Jiang Xinbai was like her nephew. Yan Nanxing reluctantly agreed, feeling as though she had swallowed a fly. Liu Ruoqian and Tong Saier went to the street to distribute flyers, and Liu Ruoqian was very successful, whereas Tong Saier's efforts weren't as effective.

Late at night, Yan Nanxing brought a basket of vegetables, saying that she had eaten his food last time and was here to return the favor. Since it was late, she made it into a midnight snack. Jiang Xinbai, although feeling that her cooking didn't taste like real food, ate it with great enjoyment. Yan Nanxing's real purpose for coming that night was to persuade Jiang Xinbai to go on a blind date. Jiang Xinbai naturally refused, but when Yan Nanxing said, "For our sake," he suddenly changed his mind.

Jiang Suoluo was on the street when a group of children asked her to help retrieve a kite from a tree. Jiang Suoluo wouldn't climb the tree for a mere kite and generously gave them some silver, but they insisted on the kite. Jiang Suoluo had no choice but to climb up, but she slipped and fell, only to be caught by Liu Ruoqian. Not knowing where her home was, Liu Ruoqian took the unconscious Jiang Suoluo to his house to rest. Upon waking, Jiang Suoluo instinctively wanted to leave but was persuaded to stay for a meal by Liu Ruoqian's parents. While in the courtyard, Jiang Suoluo noticed they were from a lowly background, yet Liu Ruoqian's family wasn't self-conscious about it. Jiang Suoluo felt happy integrating with their family and even shared her real name with them.

Yan Nanxing arranged for Jiang Xinbai and Pei Yaoyao to meet at Hua Xiangrong. Pei Yaoyao dressed up very glamorously, but Jiang Xinbai mischievously mistook Madam Bao for Pei Yaoyao. Yan Nanxing quickly pulled him aside and scolded him, telling him to appease Pei Yaoyao. She then arranged for them to meet in a private room. Tong Saier could tell that Yan Nanxing was concerned, so she pulled her to eavesdrop.

Pei Yaoyao suddenly started hiccuping, feeling extremely embarrassed. She asked Jiang Xinbai what kind of woman he liked. Jiang Xinbai coldly replied, "I don't care about looks," then smiled and described someone exactly like Yan Nanxing. Pei Yaoyao understood that he didn't like her and left.

Tong Saier realized that Jiang Xinbai was describing Yan Nanxing: intelligent, elegant, and heroic. Just as Pei Yaoyao left, Jiang Zhi stormed in to question Jiang Xinbai.
