After discovering Jiang Xinbai spending the night with a man dressed in women's clothing, Jiang Zhiyi was completely shattered. She couldn't even face her own son and kept yelling for Jiang Xinbai to bring Yan Nanxing back. Jiang Suoluo and her grandfather tried to console her, but they had no idea what had happened. Jiang Zhiyi couldn't speak, so she just held onto Jiang Suoluo and cried.

When Jiang Xinbai returned home, he found that Yan Nanxing had already found clothes that fit from his wardrobe—clothes he wore while studying at the Hanlin Academy. Yan Nanxing decided to wear these clothes to the academy to help investigate, despite Jiang Xinbai's repeated attempts to stop her. Yan Biqing discovered Jiang Suoluo's attitude towards him and threatened to expose their engagement to everyone. Jiang Suoluo wasn't afraid; she couldn't be swayed into doing something she didn't want to.

Yan Nanxing easily infiltrated the Hanlin Academy, where she encountered Liu Ruoqian and introduced herself as an auditor named "Wu Ming," fabricating a plausible backstory. She cautioned Liu Ruoqian not to mistake her for a friend, as "Wu Ming" wouldn't last more than a few days. During class, Yan Nanxing fell asleep and woke up to find Lu Boan causing trouble for Liu Ruoqian.

She intervened but ended up with a nosebleed from Lu Boan's retaliation, fainting and demanding Liu Ruoqian go to the Judicial Office to report her pseudo-uncle. Jiang Xinbai received the news and knew it had to be Yan Nanxing, so he rushed to join her in the act. Yan Biqing tried to intervene, but Jiang Xinbai took everyone away, even carrying "Wu Ming" on a stretcher.

Lord Lu received urgent news and, after Yan Nanxing was brought to the Judicial Office, requested half an hour from Jiang Xinbai to extract information from Lu Boan. However, Jiang Suoluo arrived, pressing Jiang Xinbai to delay the conversation. Yan Nanxing skillfully coaxed from Lu Boan that Li Wufang and his father had deceived Lord Lu, who was oblivious to their actions. Half an hour passed, and the Hanlin Academy disciple was released.

Jiang Suoluo immediately realized "Wu Ming" wasn't a disciple of the Hanlin Academy, despite Jiang Xinbai's frantic attempts to signal Yan Nanxing, deepening Jiang Suoluo's misunderstanding. Returning home, Jiang Suoluo complained to her grandfather and Jiang Zhiyi. Jiang Xinbai could only bow his head in guilt. Jiang Suoluo demanded an explanation about "Wu Ming"—coming to the Hanlin Academy just to defend a young man? Jiang Zhiyi, upon hearing this, fainted again in anger.

Yan Nanxing struggled to paint the current face well, so Jiang Xinbai took the brush and touched her face. Suddenly, Yan Nanxing transformed back into her female appearance. Back at Hua Xiangrong, Jiang Zhiyi's attitude towards Yan Nanxing changed drastically. She went from being distant to caring and even proclaimed herself Yan Nanxing's mother, urging her to hold onto Jiang Xinbai's heart firmly. Later, Jiang Zhiyi summoned Jiang Xinbai and pressured him to quickly finalize his engagement with Yan Nanxing.

Tong Saier dreamed last night that her fiancé had died. The next day, Mr. Lan came to Hua Xiangrong, hoping Yan Nanxing could help him fix something. He mentioned the scar on his face and revealed he was the one who saved Tong Saier, though he showed disdain when speaking of it. Yan Nanxing refused to treat him and promptly threw him out.

Shang Bieli discussed with Jiang Xinbai about the person Yan Nanxing was looking for, whom they suspected was likely dead. Jiang Xinbai decided it was time to tell Yan Nanxing the truth.
