Bai Yuan insisted on forcefully marrying Yan Nanxing. Seeing no way out, Yan Nanxing reluctantly agreed but demanded a proper wedding ceremony. Bai Yuan consented, leaving with the promise of a ceremony the next day. Meanwhile, Jiang Xinbai investigated Yan Nanxing's whereabouts and grew worried upon learning she had been taken by Bai Yuan. Today was the day Bai Yuan and Yan Nanxing were to wed, but Yan Nanxing was prepared, having learned from her past abductions.

She secretly prepared a sedative, intending to drug everyone at the banquet. However, Jiang Xinbai had quietly followed her. Yan Nanxing refused to change into wedding attire, draped only in a red veil as she stood beside Bai Yuan for their ceremony. Seeing Jiang Xinbai's intervention, Yan Nanxing was relieved, though Jiang Xinbai misunderstood her motives. Desperate, she signaled him discreetly. Bai Yuan and Jiang Xinbai clashed immediately, but Yan Nanxing unexpectedly suggested they become friends.

Jiang Xinbai understood, clarifying the misunderstanding and discussing collaboration. Bai Yuan demanded Yan Nanxing as a condition, which Jiang Xinbai initially refused, prompting Bai Yuan to leave. Yan Nanxing, feeling indignant for giving Bai Yuan an eye, argued that without removing Yi Yuanshan, he would remain a threat to Bai Yuan. Convinced by Yan Nanxing's logic, Bai Yuan agreed. Jiang Xinbai cautioned Yan Nanxing against recklessness, shaken by recent events.

Yan Nanxing found Bai Yuan's peculiar behavior unsettling, knowing they must be cautious in their collaboration. Yi Yuanshan planned to transport Zornia Herb on the main road, where Jiang Xinbai and Bai Yuan laid an ambush. Hei Ao recognized the knife Bai Yuan wielded, linking her to the ambush on Nan Jifeng and Yao Qianshu. Bai Yuan killed Hei Ao herself, displeasing Jiang Xinbai, who needed her alive for verification.

Angered by the ambush's failure, Yi Yuanshan retaliated by capturing elderly and children from Bai Yuan's gang, proposing an exchange for Jiang Xinbai. Bai Yuan brought Jiang Xinbai to Yi Yuanshan's estate, staging a coup. Jiang Xinbai was injured, and Yan Nanxing carefully tended to him while Bai Yuan lurked nearby, causing tension. Despite Jiang Xinbai's displeasure, Yan Nanxing approached to administer medicine. Amidst these events, Yan Nanxing worried for Jiang Xinbai's safety, unaware of his reciprocal concern.

Jiang Suoluo witnessed Liu Ruoqian cleaning carelessly, causing him to nosebleed. Enraged, she advised him against such actions. During Yan Nanxing's absence, Liu Ruoqian informed her of Yan Nanxing's search for Jiang Xinbai. Tong Saier sought Shang Bieli for news of Yan Nanxing, proposing a new method to treat olfactory senses. Inadvertently, Tong Saier kissed Shang Bieli on the cheek, causing his heart to race. Jiang Xinbai and Yan Nanxing prepared to escort Yi Yuanshan back to Beijing.

Bai Yuan came to bid farewell, secretly wishing to keep Yan Nanxing but honoring his promise for their safe departure. Bai Yuan presented Yan Nanxing with a shark bone as a parting gift. Jiang Xinbai hoped never to see Bai Yuan again, mindful of his official position versus Bai Yuan's status as a fugitive. They set off for Beijing, Jiang Xinbai inquiring about Yan Nanxing's recent gift with a hint of jealousy. Suddenly, arrows ambushed them on the road.
