Tong Saier and Liu Ruoqian were amazed to learn that Jiang Xinbai was Yan Nanxing's long-lost "Little Brother. " They envied their deep connection, a bond rarely seen even in dramas. Liu Ruoqian felt a mix of admiration and disappointment, realizing that not all lovers in the world could be together like this. Yan Nanxing couldn't understand what was troubling Liu Ruoqian. Tong Saier secretly informed her about Jiang Suoluo's situation.

Liu Ruoqian had lost weight during this time and appeared fragile. Jiang Xinbai learned from Jiang Zhiyi that Jiang Suoluo had been betrothed, with no way out. Jiang Xinbai reassured her not to worry, promising to find a solution. Yan Nanxing visited Jiang Suoluo as Liu Ruoqian's friend, noticing Liu Ruoqian's affection. She advised Jiang Suoluo that if she loved Liu Ruoqian, she should refuse the marriage proposal; if not, she should put an end to his hopes.

After their farewell, Yan Nanxing encountered Bai Yuan, who had promised to visit her. Yan Nanxing was embarrassed, not expecting him to take it seriously. Meanwhile, Jiang Suoluo witnessed their interaction, while Tong Saier and Liu Ruoqian sensed trouble from Bai Yuan. Bai Yuan had left his criminal life and came to the capital to join Yan Nanxing at Huaxiangrong. Liu Ruoqian rushed to inform Jiang Xinbai but was intercepted by Tong Saier. Jiang Suoluo pondered Yan Nanxing's advice.

Liu Ruoqian had been avoiding her deliberately for some time; could it be that he actually liked her? Jiang Suoluo wanted to clarify things with him immediately but hesitated due to Yan Biqing's troublesome involvement. Liu Ruoqian intended to visit Jiang Suoluo but stopped when her room's light went out. Jiang Xinbai suggested Jiang Suoluo feign illness to temporarily leave the capital and evade the marriage proposal. Jiang Suoluo was reluctant, fearing it would ruin her career.

Seeing Jiang Xinbai so pleased with himself, she reminded him of Bai Yuan's old acquaintanceship with Huaxiangrong and cautioned him to remain vigilant. Bai Yuan became a partner at Huaxiangrong but initially showed no warmth to customers. However, Yan Nanxing soon recognized his value, knowing his presence would deter troublemakers. She decided to give Bai Yuan a probationary period of three months, to which he confidently agreed. Jiang Xinbai observed Huaxiangrong discreetly and met Bai Yuan alone.

Jiang Xinbai suspected Bai Yuan had impure motives coming to the capital but Bai Yuan assured him that Yan Nanxing trusted him. Frustrated, Jiang Xinbai had a whole fish banquet at noon, nearly upsetting vinegar jars. Yan Nanxing quickly pacified him. Bai Yuan had indeed been invited to the capital by Yan Biqing, armed with Zornia herb. He had no fear of Jiang Xinbai.

Yan Biqing asked Bai Yuan to kill Yan Nanxing, but Bai Yuan refused; she was his own person. Bai Yuchen brought ointment for Jiang Zhiyi and mockingly taunted Yan Nanxing. Bai Yuan stepped forward to intimidate her and defend Yan Nanxing's honor, noting she had never forgotten her medical ethics. Bai Yuchen maliciously discussed this with Jiang Zhiyi, who eagerly awaited Jiang Xinbai's jealousy. Yan Nanxing repeatedly rejected Bai Yuan's affections.

Jiang Xinbai came to take Yan Nanxing home and learned she was with Bai Yuan in the backyard. Jiang Xinbai stormed off, but Yan Nanxing declared her feelings, saying she would choose Jiang Xinbai even if given ten thousand chances. Jiang Xinbai wholeheartedly believed in Yan Nanxing, but Bai Yuan's nature remained concerning.
