The show continued filming, and this time the production team invited two challenge guests—one male and one female. These guests would each take turns going on dates with three opposite-sex participants. After three rounds of dates, the chosen guests would decide whether they should stay or leave. If the challenge guest succeeded, they would replace one of the original participants and move into the "Heartbeat House.
"Yu Si, as one of the challenge guests, chose Shen Xingruo for his date as soon as he appeared. This heightened the tension between him and Lu Xingyan. Those who were not selected for dates had to observe the challenge guests' interactions the entire time, meaning Lu Xingyan had no choice but to comply with the arrangement. The female challenge guest was lawyer Di Jiajing, and she selected He Siyue for her date.
However, there was no tension in this group. Di Jiajing’s real intention was to meet Shi Qin, with He Siyue only accompanying her. Despite the program's rules, this move by Di Jiajing added an interesting dynamic to the show. He Siyue, on the other hand, seemed preoccupied with his own thoughts. Yu Si and Shen Xingruo went to practice archery but had little interaction.
Yu Si actively requested the director to have Shen Xingruo teach him archery, which she reluctantly agreed to, not wanting to make things difficult for the staff. Although their interaction was far from intimate, Lu Xingyan’s expression was still sour. Meanwhile, He Siyue and Di Jiajing visited a bookstore, where they saw a book titled *Five Years of College Entrance Exams, Three Years of Mock Exams*. Di Jiajing reminisced about how He Siyue had once given her the same book.
Shi Qin felt upset, thinking she was the only one he had given that book to. In fact, He Siyue had intended to give it only to Shi Qin, but feeling shy, he bought a copy for everyone in the class. As the class monitor, it wasn’t unusual for him to give books to his classmates, so no one thought much of it at the time. After the truth-or-dare round, they moved on to the dare challenge.
In the first round, He Siyue and Shi Qin were dared to eat a thumb-sized biscuit, leaving no more than three centimeters between them at the end. The atmosphere between them was very romantic, and as they grew closer, Di Jiajing interrupted and broke the mood. In the second round, Chen Zhu and Xu Chengzhou were dared to do a washing machine-style roll, where they had to hold each other tightly.
This kind of close interaction could make anyone’s heart race, especially between people who still had feelings for each other, even if they had been divorced. The show's drama intensified when Yu Si and Shen Xingruo were challenged to stare into each other's eyes for 30 seconds. Yu Si deliberately moved close to Shen Xingruo, making her uncomfortable. In the end, Lu Xingyan couldn’t take it anymore, and he crushed the soda can he was holding.
Shen Xingruo turned her head to look at him and smiled, while Lu Xingyan felt helpless, worried that his actions might embarrass her. However, it seemed Shen Xingruo didn’t think that way at all. Later that night, Shen Xingruo saw Lu Xingyan leave the villa, and she followed him. She thanked him for stepping in earlier, and they started talking about the past.
Shen Xingruo had once called Lu Xingyan, but he had missed the call because he had drunk too much. The next day, when he woke up in a hotel bed, he saw no record of the call and thought he had imagined it in a haze of longing. He had even tried to visit Shen Xingruo in Germany but was repeatedly denied a visa, possibly due to his arrest record. The two had simply missed their chance back then.
Unable to hold back, they kissed, and the next morning they woke up in the same bed together. Shen Xingruo received a message from the production team saying they wanted to review the footage. She realized they hadn’t drawn the curtains the night before, and a camera was pointed directly at the bed. In a panic, the two of them rushed to the control room, hoping to delete the footage before anyone else could see it.
