Lu Xingyan discovered an important clue: Huang Bing had been taking medication to treat myocarditis. He suspected that Huang Bing had concealed his condition and was taking medicine sent from a clinic, which eventually worsened his illness. Shen Xingruo had the same suspicion. She contacted the clinic, pretending to be a delivery person who had lost a package and needed to reimburse the contents. She took the opportunity to ask what was in the package.
The person on the phone gave a nonsensical answer, saying it was bullets, and then hung up. When Shen Xingruo tried calling back, she couldn't get through. Since this approach didn’t work, Shen Xingruo sought evidence of Huang Bing’s medication use. Although he had been drinking herbal medicine from a thermos cup every day from the start of filming until he was hospitalized, there was no proof that the medicine was for treating myocarditis.
Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo decided to go to Changqing Village themselves to find the clinic. The medical records would be their physical evidence, and the doctor would be their witness, giving Shen Xingruo decisive proof. When Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo arrived at the village, they were surprised to find that the villagers had been informed of their visit. When they asked about the clinic, the villagers lied, saying it had moved.
Huang Bing’s family also caught wind of their visit and chased Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo away. Lu Xingyan almost got into a fight, but Shen Xingruo stopped him, reminding him that many villagers were filming. If a fight broke out, it would be very damaging to the production team. Lu Xingyan held back from taking action. Later, Lu Xingyan was hit by a child’s ball.
Shen Xingruo quickly came up with a plan and told Lu Xingyan to pretend to be injured. She had the child lead them to the clinic to see Doctor Wang. The children, without suspecting anything, took them there. After examining Lu Xingyan, Doctor Wang realized he wasn’t really hurt and suspected they had another reason for visiting. Just then, Dahuang burst in with a group of people, intending to confront Lu Xingyan.
As the situation escalated, an elderly woman, Wang Da Niang, rushed out and mistook Lu Xingyan for Wang Shenzhi. She protected him, not allowing anyone to bully "Wang Shenzhi. " Seeing this, Dahuang and his group couldn’t continue being aggressive. Doctor Wang, sensing the tension, promised to keep everything secret and asked Dahuang’s group to leave, which they did.
Wang Da Niang, who was mentally confused, mistook Shen Xingruo for Xiufang, believing she had come to arrange her wedding with Wang Shenzhi. She eagerly pulled Shen Xingruo into a room to show her the wedding items she had prepared. While they were there, Lu Xingyan and Shen Xingruo learned about the story of Wang Da Niang and Wang Shenzhi.
Wang Da Niang’s parents had opposed her marrying Wang Shenzhi because he was about to go to the frontlines, and they feared he would never return. However, before he left, Wang Da Niang gave him a handkerchief she had embroidered herself, promising to wait for him. Later, Wang Shenzhi lost contact with the village, and everyone believed he had died. Wang Da Niang’s parents forced her to marry someone else.
When Wang Shenzhi eventually returned, the two saw each other again but didn’t dare to speak. Afterward, Wang Shenzhi went to a neighboring village to study under a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Wang Da Niang was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and after her husband passed away, she had no children. Her relatives eventually contacted Wang Shenzhi, and the two were reunited.
However, Wang Da Niang still regretted never having her wedding with Wang Shenzhi, and she continued to wait for him to marry her. Meanwhile, Shi Qin went to the hospital to talk to Huang Bing and his family, hoping to negotiate a lower compensation amount. However, she accidentally noticed a strong herbal medicine smell in Huang Bing’s room, emanating from a large thermos cup by the bed. When she asked about it, Huang Bing’s wife claimed it was just a tonic, not revealing the truth.
